Please Take My Baby by Emma Robinson is a deeply emotional and thought-provoking novel that explores the complex sacrifices mothers make for their children. The story of a mother handing over her new-born to her own mother is heart-breaking from the start, and Robinson skilfully navigates the pain, guilt, and love that ripple through this difficult decision. The characters, particularly the protagonist, are richly developed, making it easy for readers to empathise with her internal struggles. The narrative delves into themes of family, forgiveness, and the difficult choices parents sometimes face. As the story unfolds, the tension builds, keeping readers engaged as they yearn to discover the full truth behind the protagonist's decision to leave her child.

While the book tugs on the heartstrings, it is not relentlessly bleak. Robinson’s writing infuses the story with moments of hope, healing, and ultimately, redemption, making it as uplifting as it is poignant. The emotional complexity of the story is handled with sensitivity, although some readers might find the pacing a bit slow at times, particularly as the details of the past are gradually revealed. Overall, Please Take My Baby is a moving and heartfelt tale about love, loss, and the strength it takes to make impossible choices. Fans of emotionally charged stories will find this book to be a compelling and memorable read.

This book was very emotional and had you really thinking about the ripples in families and how their consequences affect everyone involved. Erin is a caretaker for her mother who is in the beginning stages of dementia. When Erin is going through pictures and things, she comes across a picture of a little girl. When asking her mother all she gets is that's Imogen and she sets out to find out who she is. The truth is so shocking and this book was so real and made you you feel all kinds of emotions. A must read.

I thought the cover was interesting but found the way the story starts, gives away the whole story. The story then goes into building up to how the story ended up that way which I found a bit long winded and confusing. I didn’t like the way the storyline was told and felt like it was hard to follow.

This book was an absolute page-turner for me. I love domestic dramas and this one was right up my alley. The synopsis of this book is a little off from the actual plot--we really don't get much from Imogen's POV other than a few interspersed chapters. The majority of the story is from Erin's POV. And Erin is quite the conflicted woman...she has never felt loved except by her daughter. As family secrets are revealed and explained, she starts to realize that things maybe weren't exactly as she perceived. This story is strong in female characters and family bonds that can't be broken. The ending was a bit abrupt for me as I typically prefer to have a glimpse into the future. It was definitely an enjoyable book and I'm interested to read more by this author.

This book was a very slow burner. The big reveal, as it were, takes place in the very first chapter. So, we spend the rest of the book learning how each of the events unfolded to bring us to the current situations.

I found the difficult topics that were discussed - dementia, port partum depression, etc - to be handled with care and these were well-written.

The characters were ok, and I just didn't find myself loving any of them.

Overall, an ok read.

Please Take My Baby by Emma Robinson and Narrated by Sofia Zervudachi was excellent and utterly heart-wrenching and powerfully emotional family drama which was filled with great twists and turns but you will need tissues and lots of them.

Emma has away of bringing her audience into the story and every book I have read or listened to, they have never disappointed, this book was no different. I just love the way Emma writes and its always from her heart.

WoW, I need to turn my phone off, put the kettle on, make a cup of coffee and hide so no one can find me and listen to this audiobook!!!..........Oh don't forget the tissues, guaranteed I will need them! This audiobook was excellent, but heartbreaking and ultimately uplifting tale about the sacrifices mothers make for their children, this story will make you hold your loved ones tight.

I highly recommend this book and the Narrator's Sofia Zervudachi was excellent.

Another 5 Star audiobook/book.

The novel, Please Take my Baby centers around the themes of family, forgiveness, and the love that a mother has for her child. Emma, is a typical product of the “sandwich generation”, meaning that one must simultaneously care for a child and an aging parent. Erin is struggling with raising her teenaged daughter and caring for her elderly mother with dementia. While in the midst of living with her mother, Emma discovers a family secret that threatens to undermine her entire upbringing. The character of Erin is easily relatable as many of us are caregivers to multiple generations. The themes interwoven in this story of dementia, caregiving, sacrifice, and love. This is a thought provoking, relatable, and enticing story. This is a realistic, interesting family drama. I recommend this story to anyone looking for a women’s dramatic fiction story. I will look for more books by this author. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advance review copy in exchange for my honest review.

I don’t know what I expected when I picked up this one, but it was definitely different than what I thought it would be. I enjoyed it though. I flew through it.

I like that this book was primarily about relationships between women, related or not. Multiple generations of women living together and learning about each other’s pasts. And all different types of mother/daughter relationships, Ava & Erin, Ava & Imogen, Imogen & Erin and Erin & Harriet.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC of this book.

Another absolutely fab read from Emma

She has written another emotional rollercoaster of a book.
The characters were all relatable and I truest felt all the emotions of the characters and experiences they were going through.

Erin’s world is about to be turned upside down. She’s recently moved herself and her 15 year old daughter back to her mother’s house. Her mother has been diagnosed with dementia and is starting to struggle. Erin has never really felt much love from her mother but feels she’s doing the right thing.
Shortly after moving back, she discovers a biscuit tin with old photos in and when she shows them to her mother, she says it’s Imogen, her daughter. Erin has always believed she’s was an only child.

Not only that but her ex husband has been offered a job in America and wants Harriet, their daughter to go with him!

We discover how Erin deals with all this and find out the story of her family.

Beautifully written and really makes you think what would you do?

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this title

Life experiences best describes this book. Focussing on Erin who finds out she has a sister. This came about because her mother Ava is suffering dementia so her memories are mainly in the past rather than present day.
As Ava divulges more patchy information Erin decides to look for Imogen. Will Imogen be interested! Maybe she ran away from her secrets.
As this unfolds Erin’s life is undergoing changes, her ex-husband is hoping to get a job in America, taking their daughter with them. WillErin be able to let her daughter Harriet go.
When Erin phones her aunt Marcelle, she is able to give some details but is loathe to finish the story until she comes across to the UK and is sat face-to-face with Erin.
It wouldn’t matter if you were a child, sister, mother or grandmother this book would strike a cord.
My favourite character was Harriet, the wisdom of youth. Especially the collage.
Least favourite had to be Frank.
The only downside for me was that some of the earlier detail could have been held back until later.
That said, I told my daughter to read it.
