This book is the last in the series of three. Story is heartbreaking and moving. It was hard to put it down. Protagonist, Kitty , is working as a spy on the enemies land. She has to do difficult job before she would be able move to safety. But can she succeed, if it seems that somebody is working against her? The ending of the book was different than I expected and because of it probably more realistic. I recommend this book for all who likes books from WWII with spy theme.

This is a series that I'd recommend you read in order to as each story builds upon the last.
The author's writing style is one I really enjoy. When I am looking for a realistic and well researched historical fiction book, I can always count on this author to deliver.
The book is absolutely unputdownable to me. After reading and following Kitty and Edgar's story I knew I had to keep reading each book in the series. I was holding my breath as I read. You could feel the tension crackling in the air, will she be caught, will Edgar stay safe? Kitty has been a long-time spy, putting herself in life-threatening situations. She's on a runaway train of events and there's no brakes. There's a lot of action and suspense. She doesn't trust the Nazi's. When she is captured, she is told they will kill Edgar if she doesn't spill what she knows. Is it true, is Edgar even alive? I was rooting for Kitty and Edgar's character's the whole way through in this series. They put themselves in so much danger. Doing what is right isn't easy all the time. I applaud Kitty for her courage during the darkest of times and her straightforward attitude. Sometimes you have to face the dark to receive the light and she is a perfect example of this. Her powerful love and devotion kept her going. The author's writing style is so realistic that I could picture it as I read like a film running through my mind. Mesmerizing, I eagerly look forward to more amazing books by the author. This brought all my emotions to the forefront.

I knew that this book was going to be mesmerising, I read this book from cover to cover in one day! Chrystyna Lucyk-Berger is very meticulous in her research which makes the book well worth reading especially by anyone interested in the years of WWII, undercover agents and ordinary people like you and me, that were conscripted into the Resistance.

Kitty will charm you, make you cry and admire her for her courage and determination. There is love, danger, courageous men and women who will keep you riveted to the pages and those that you would love to hate. You will love Edgar and all those strong characters that play a part and then there are those you'll wish had never appeared in the story!

Kitty Larsson spent many years as an undercover agent for the British and had seen so much life loss over the years. When she is captured and her husband Edgar is missing she feels helpless. She is told by the Nazis that they will surely kill him if she does not cooperate and do exactly as they say. Kitty doesn’t trust the Nazis at all, is Edgar still alive, or are they using her to get what they want? She knows in her heart that she cannot give up and she must hold on to the hope of knowing that one day she will see Edgar once again.

The American Wife’s Secret written by author Chrystyna Lucy’s-Berger is a wonderful continuation to the series The Diplomat’s Wife. This heartbreaking, outstanding story was unputdownable for me. I couldn’t stop reading until I got to the very last page. This story had my heart racing and my tears flowing. I loved the character of Kitty so much, she was completely relatable. The sacrifices that she and her husband Edgar made were devastating and I couldn’t imagine how difficult their decisions were. I loved this series from start to finish. This book can be read as a standalone, but my suggestion is to read the entire series. I highly recommended this phenomenal story.

This was an intense book. There’s several surprises along the way. I was blown away by the ending. I’m still surprised by it. I had not read the previous books in this series so I did feel like I just stepped into the middle of the story. Definitely suggest you read the books one and two first.

The third book in Chrystyna Lucyk-The Berger's Diplomat's Wife series, The American Wife's Secret, is set during World War II. What a great series! I don't even need to read the synopsis because this author is one of my auto-read authors. Her exquisite writing is truly exceptional; it is consistently reflective and perceptive. I adore how suspense lurks around every corner in her stories, making them unpredictable. There is love, anguish, sorrow, peril, tenacity, and hope. Maintain hope.
In the 1940s, Kitty Larsson and her husband Edgar Ragatz participated in pivotal operations with the Resistance and spy networks that helped alter the direction of World War II. They were deeply committed to the cause and horrified by the terror the Nazis unleashed, despite the fact that the price was extraordinarily high, and death was always a possibility. There were often dangerous circumstances present, and nothing was what it seemed. consisting of individuals. Few people were spared from atrocities, and Kitty suffered both physical and mental abuse. She was a person of incredible guile and tenacity, but she paid the price for it. She and Edgar were forced to make improbable hasty judgments. The conclusion, though!
This is the series you need if you're looking for top-notch historical fiction that has substance and zip. It is a more immersive experience than reading. The writing is so beautiful and mesmerizing that it kept me spellbound from the beginning to the breath-taking conclusion. My emotions were riding high and low as my heart pounded with anticipation. Due to the subject matter, it is not an easy read, but it is an astounding look at several viewpoints during one of the most terrible periods in history. The historical information was properly studied, and the emotions were expertly depicted. Because these situations were experienced by real people, it is both terrifying and realistic. Congratulations to real heroes and heroines!
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me with a digital copy of this fantastic book.

Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.

Both Kitty and her husband Edgar are spies, and have done some dangerous assignments. They’ve been apart more than together.

But, now their current mission has a lot more risk, and now Kitty has to escape, but, who can she turn to for help? Can she trust that person or is he a spy? What’s happened to her husband?

The story will keep you hooked, wanting to know what happens next. Some many revelations.

I highly recommend this book.

A brilliant conclusion to an amazing trilogy. Kitty Larsson is an American who is swept into the ambiguities and cruelties of the II World War. Married to a high-profile Austrian diplomat, she witnessed the impacts of the first years of the war in Vienna and organized a resistance movement, first in Austria and later in France, working for British and later French officials.
In this last installment, Kitty is sent back to Vienna to help infiltrate american agents. The danger is high and she goes full circle into the city where she was so happy and so sad.
A tragic conclusion in a great story that shouldn't be missed.

its not an easy book to read but man its a fitting end to the trilogy and i will admit to having tears in my eyes at the end

brilliantly written and flawlessly done

The American Wife’s Secret by Chrystyna Lucyk-Berger is a powerful historical novel that I read in just one sitting. It is the third book in The Diplomat’s Wife series but can be read as a stand-alone.
The action takes place in Europe 1943-1945 as we follow an American lady who does what she can to sabotage the Nazi war effort and to gain intelligence.
All the characters were well drawn and realistic. The bravery, tenacity and loyalty of the leading lady was admirable.
We witness the horrors of war from within Nazi-occupied territories. Trust was in short supply and lips needed to be tightly sealed.
The author created the atmosphere of fear as we ‘see’ the methods used by the Gestapo to extract information.
I found the whole novel to be completely gripping. There was a moment when the war had ended, that my jaw literally dropped as the turn of events shocked me. See if you have the same reaction.
The locations were very atmospheric with dark nights and small alleyways.
The American Wife’s Secret was an incredibly powerful read, that will educate as well as entertain.
I received a free copy from the publishers. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.

This was a difficult read.
Uncover agents, no matter how well trained, never knew what they would run into, who could betray them, and when the Gestapo might suspect something was fishy.
When you are dependent on a large network, so much can go wrong. If a link is broken, you may not know in time to change course. And when finally, you think you are safe…
Follow the daring men and women who tirelessly gave of themselves to help bring down Nazi Germany in WWII.

The American Wife’s Secret is the 3rd book in The Diplomat's Wife Series. This is a story that will keep you reading late into the night guessing what will happen next. It is a heartbreaking spy novel taking place during WWII. While the first two books in the series were great, book 3 was even better. The plot line was unpredictable filled with suspense, danger and hope. I found the 3 books in the series followed each other and should be read in order.

Kitty Larsson the main character, continues her work as a spy for the OSS running a group of undercover agents. After being betrayed by someone she trusts, can Kitty escape either death or capture? Kitty was a very well developed character that seemed real showing fear, despair, sorrow and pain.

I highly recommend this book to everyone. It will stay with me a long time. Can’t wait for what the author writes next.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an advance copy of this great book.

When Kitty Larsson was inserted into Vienna in 1944, to continue her spy work for OSS, she knew the danger. Spies sent in usually only lasted a matter of weeks before either death or capture. Could she last longer? Running her group of undercover operatives was stressful as she needed to be able to trust them. But when a new female face arrived at Kitty's work place, she was told to befriend her, get close to her and find out why she was there. While all this was happening, Kitty was desperate for news of her husband, Edgar. Was he still alive? His mission was far more dangerous than hers, and she didn't know what she'd do if he didn't survive.

As the months moved forward and the Allies came closer to them, and ending the war, the horrors escalated. The Germans had nothing to lose and killing was part of their lives. Kitty knew she needed to stay out of their hands - but when she was betrayed by someone she had trusted, Kitty knew her life was about to change once again...

The American Wife's Secret is the 3rd in The Diplomat's Wife series by Chrystyna Lucyk-Berger and it was amazing! Heartbreaking, bitter-sweet, poignant - Kitty's strength and determination was outstanding. I'm thoroughly enjoying this series and highly recommend The American Wife's Secret as well as the first two.

With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

I felt as if I’d been put through the emotional wringer while reading this book.
Kitty finds out something devastating about Edgar which broke my heart. I thought no, not him. He wouldn’t do that. I didn’t accept his excuse for his actions.
The reading is tense because it involves the camps and what was really going on, always difficult to read about.
But when the end of the book arrived I couldn’t believe what happened, I was bereft. After all heartache, time spent apart, all the stuff Kitty and Edgar endured……
No, I don’t accept the ending. I rewrote it in my mind to suit my fancy.

The American Wife's Secret: Epic, heartbreaking and unputdownable World War 2 fiction (The Diplomat's Wife Book 3), my third read from author Chrystyna Lucyk-Berger. World War 2 is in full swing and Kitty is back in Europe, The blurb says unputdownable I received a free Kindle copy of The American Wife (The Diplomat's Wife and the books are, I read the last without putting either one down. After receiving an ARC for this book, I decided to read the first two books in the series, and wow they were so good! I've read the whole series in the space of a week. This is the 3rd book in the series following Kitty Larsson, who is now a seasoned spy working for the OSS. She is sent to Austria, where she lived when she first married Edgar. She's setting up a new spy ring through the OSS. Edgar is working on an important mission. As she is working on her mission, she starts worrying as members of their spy cell are caught and arrested. Is there a spy in their midst? Will she and the others be discovered by the Nazis and if so will she be able to keep her secrets if she can save Edgar the man she loves? All I can is wow what a read! It's an in-depth perspective of what it might have been like to be in deep as a spy and how it might wear you done. The writer does an amazing job of drawing rich characters and taut, tense storylines. She did a great job of wrapping up the series and I'd love a sequel to see where the character of Kitty goes from here in the post war era. The whole series drew me in from the start and I'll be thinking about it and the character Kitty for a long, long time!

Many thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture, and the author for the opportunity to read the digital ARC. All opinions & the review are my own.

The American Wife's Secret by Chrystyna Lucyk-Berger is Book 3 in the series titled The Diplomat's Wife. The main character, Kitty Larsson, is an American married to an Austrian in the late 1930's shortly before Hitler and the Nazi's come in to take over control of Austria. How Kitty and her husband each respond to the new government and then WWII when it breaks out - as well as their own relationship - is filled with twists and turns throughout the series of 3 books.
While Books 1 and 2 are filled with tragedies and suspense, Book 3 went to the extreme with plotlines, characters, and drama that would have had me biting my nails if I were a nail biter. However, I particulary liked the way the author portrayed Kitty's struggles with her emotions and the decisions she was required to make as she experienced fatigue, frustration, and some of the most harrowing, and horrific acts of espionage and the resulting consequences. The descriptions of Kitty's thoughts and feelings as she struggled to perform her dangerous duties during a time of war made me feel as though Kitty was a real woman and not just someone who could just work heroically without even a pause. She actually felt fear, despair, pain, and sorrow. And yet, she did carry on and she did survive.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys books set in Europe during WWII with strong females as the main character.

The American Wife's Secret by Chrystyna Lucyk-Berger is the third in The Diplomat's Wife series set during WWII. What a series it is! This author is one of my auto-read authors, no need to even read the synopsis. Her gorgeous writing is special indeed, always thoughtful and insightful. I love that her stories are unpredictable with suspense lurking around every corner. There is love, sorrow, grief, danger, determination and hope. Always hope.

In the 1940s Kitty Larsson and her husband Edgar Ragatz were on crucial missions including spy networks and the Resistance which contributed to changing the course of WWII. Though the cost was extremely high and death was always a possibility, they were fiercely loyal to the cause and were appalled at the terror rained
down by the Nazis. Dangerous situations were commonplace and nothing was as it seemed. Including people. Few were exempt from atrocities and Kitty was mentally and physically tortured. She was a woman of extraordinary cunning and determination but suffered for it. She and Edgar had to make impossible snap decisions and choices. That ending, though!

If you seek an engrossing top-notch Historical Fiction series with zip and substance, this is what you need.
More than reading, it is an immersive experience. The words are written like the loveliest haunting music which held me captive throughout to the breathtaking denouement at the end. My heart pulsed with anticipation and I found myself on a rollercoaster of emotions. While not an easy read due to the subject matter, it is an astonishing look at unique perspectives during one of the most heinous times in history. It is obvious the historical details were thoroughly researched and emotions were captured beautifully. What makes it so harrowing and realistic is that real people lived scenarios such as these. Bravo to true heroes and heroines!

My sincere thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with a digital copy of this wonderful, wonderful novel.

This is the 3rd book in the series which I highly recommend. It is full of suspense, surprises, action and you never know what is going to happen next. Kitty and her husband are both spies and they both are in extreme danger working against the Nazis. The storyline is just so interesting and you think there probably were people who were doing just what Kitty was doing during this difficult time in history. I really enjoyed all the characters and the entire storyline. I highly recommend reading all three of the books.

An emotional read about an American woman who works for the Allies in Germany all the while worrying about her husband. Those who have read the earlier books (I have not) might find more in this than I did but that doesn't mean that the story of Kitty and Edgar won't resonate. It's a reminder of love in the time of war. Thanks to netgalley for the arc. A good read.
