Fantastic christmas book! Got me all in the mood for Christmas. A really wonderful story which I enjoyed very much.
Christmas Overload
Unfortunately I didn't finish this book. It just didn't grab me the way others by this author have. I didn't particularly like either of the main characters and therefore wasn't invested enough to read their story.
***A big thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC copy of this book.***
Enchanting, delightful, and utterly charming! 'Christmas Secrets in the Scottish Highlands' is the quintessential festive enemies-to-lovers tale, brimming with heart and soul. Nestled within the warm embrace of Christmas Resort, a place that effortlessly ignites the holiday spirit, lives change, memories are made, and snowflakes dance in the air.
Damon MacAndrew arrives with a mission to acquire the resort and usher in drastic changes, his own past visit having culminated in heartbreak. Across this snowy landscape, Holliday Harrison, who yearns to infuse the holiday cheer into her life after losing her fiancé years ago, finds solace in her work at Christmas Resort. She's determined to persuade Damon to preserve its cherished traditions.
As sleigh bells chime and snow blankets the landscape, the magnetic attraction between Holliday and Damon intensifies. Both are endearing characters, each bearing the weight of their pasts, each with their own reasons for being at the resort. Their paths intersect in a beautifully unexpected way, and their journeys of healing and love intertwine.
The setting of the book is a winter wonderland, replete with cozy cabins, crackling fireplaces, the scent of cinnamon, mugs of hot cocoa, snowflakes adorning the landscape, and an abundance of holiday cheer. Christmas Resort caters to all tastes, and the characters, especially the delightful Bonnibell, add a special charm to this enchanting world.
Romance is a transformative odyssey, and the individual and shared journeys of the characters in this heartwarming, festive tale are a joy to experience. 'Christmas Secrets in the Scottish Highlands' is a cozy, well-crafted, and utterly charming romance, a perfect companion for those moments curled up with a warm blanket and a cup of cocoa. It's a book that is beautifully penned, thoughtfully composed, and full of heart.
In summary, it's a brilliantly written, heartwarming, festive, and charming tale. Must READ!
This was a cosy romantic and heartwarming Christmas read with fabulous characters and plenty of festive cheer all wrapped
Up within the beautiful setting of the Scottish highlands and the delightful Christmas lodges. Reading this made you want to be there cosied up with a hot chocolate by the fire watching the snowfall outside
Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for a review.
Wonderfully festive book and an enjoyable read. I want to go to a lodge with an all year round Christmas theme!
Another delightful Donna Ashcroft novel to add to your Christmas reading list. Holliday and Damon soon find themselves on opposite sides of the sale of the beloved Christmas Resort. For Holliday, it has been her refuge after the death of her fiance, and for Damon, it’s the last reminder of his ex-wife’s betrayals and he wants to tear it down to completely obliterate painful memories.
The perfect festive read. Holliday works at Christmas Resort where guests can have the full festive experience and celebrate Christmas every week of the year. It's a wonderful world of gingerbread biscuits, warm drinks and plenty of pom poms. The staff all work closely to make every guest have the time of their lives. The resort needs a bit of a cash injection and renovations , but a possible sale has them all worried for their futures in the most magical place.
I loved the characters, the setting and the sparring between Holliday and Damon. I would love to visit somewhere like this and lose myself in the middle of a Hallmark movie experience.
I love Donna's books and this was one of my favourites so far.
A Christmas themed lodge that's open all year round - that's me sold already, where can I buy a ticket?
Donna Ashcroft is one of those authors whose name is akin to Christmas, because she writes the most, gorgeous festive fiction stories. I've read several of them now and have loved them all. They're heartwarming, cosy and will melt the coldest of hearts.
The characters are wonderful, there are sone new and some familiar faces from previous books in the Scottish Highlands series.
It's festive, feel good fiction and I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to reading more from Ashcroft in the future.
I always like a book written by Donna and this book is no exception. It is full of great characters. A very festive book and an enjoyable storyline.
Oh my goodness, this book has all the festive feels. It’s a snowy cinnamon scented hot chocolate coay sweater sort of book. Holliday has been working as an arts worker at the village for two years, she loves its warmth and comfort and all of her surrogate family around her. Until Mr Gray decides he wants to sell to Damon who wants a new business venture and as they meet sparks fly. This book was lovely, perfect for a Bailey hot chocolate in front of the fire. Thank you NetGalley for this arc in exchange for and honest review.
Fantastic story with great characters and the setting was to die for. Donna always gives us great books and I really loved this one. I highly recommend this and give it 5 stars.
Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for this ARC
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I have read many books by this author, and enjoyed them all. I think this one was my favorite one yet!
I just love it. The setting of the Scottish Highlands sounds like just the place for me. I would really love to visit there. This series is so warm and welcoming, one I’ve been really enjoying. I’ve read several books by the author, and they are all wonderful. They keep getting better and better. I am hoping this series will continue. A Christmas themed resort in the Scottish Highlands evokes different feelings about Christmas in two people. One loves it and is surrounded by it year-round at this resort, one tries to avoid it at all costs because of past memories. We all know a little Christmas magic has a way of thawing the chilliest of hearts though with the spirit of Christmas. From hot cocoa to sleigh rides to tender talks and long walks this magical feeling Christmas book is just what you need for a wonderful holiday read. I was given a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
A magical Christmas tale, with descriptions of the wonderful setting. A stand-alone book which is full of winter cheer and the build up to a happy ever after which was very satisfying. Well worth reading.
I've literally just finished this book and I can't stop smiling, for lots of reasons, just one being that the lovely Donna Ashcroft has included me in the acknowledgements of her latest book. As a book blogger, it's the little things like this that make all the reading and reviewing worthwhile.
The entire book made me smile, it was Christmassy, and cuddly, and cosy and I loved it. I have to admit there were tears at the end, but I promise, they were happy tears.
Christmas Resort is a holiday village in the Scottish Highlands where it's Christmas all year round and where people visit to experience mince pies, hot chocolate, sparkling reindeer statues, crackling log fires and twinkly fairy lights everywhere. Many of the people who live, work and visit Christmas Resort find themselves on a journey of self-discovery and through a myriad of emotions usually leave in a better place than when they arrived....or just don't leave at all!
I'd thoroughly recommend that you buy yourself a copy of Donna's latest book or add it to your Wishlist for Christmas. It's such a lovely read, whatever the weather and will make you dream of Christmastime.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review Christmas Secrets in the Scottish Highlands by Donna Ashcroft.
Have you ever wondered what would happen if the ghost of Christmas past was illuminated from within by a Yankee Candle? This book is saccharine like the last bite of peanut brittle when you didn’t mean to eat the whole batch.
Holliday and Damon are both dealing with their own ghosts (not literally) at a Christmas themed resort in the Scottish highlands. There are too many storylines and somehow still not enough plot. It’s all conflict and resolution. Still, with a candy cane and a mug of hot chocolate, reading this would be a fine way to spend a cold day in December!
Sweet, charming, delightful, and charming! Christmas Secrets in the Scottish Highlands is the perfect festive enemies to lovers book that has heart and soul. Christmas Resort is a joyful and lovely location where people can get into the holiday mood. It is a festive and welcoming place to make memories, for lives to change, and for snow to fall.
Damon MacAndrew is on a mission to buy the resort and make drastic changes. He once stayed at Christmas Resort. His stay began happily but ended with heartbreak.
Holliday Harrison is doing her best to bring on the holiday cheer. She lost her fiancé a few years ago and working at Charismas Resort is like a warm embrace that she desperately needs. She is determined to change Damon's mind about changing the resort.
Sleigh bells ring, snow falls, and the attraction between Holliday and Damon grows. Both are likeable characters with pain in their pasts. They both have a reason for being at the resort. Both are on a path and the beauty of this book is when their paths collide.
The setting of the book was wonderful. Who doesn't love cozy and welcoming cabins? The fireplaces, the smell of cinnamon, hot cocoa, snowflakes, and holiday cheer. The resort has a little bit of something for everyone and I enjoyed the characters, especially Bonnibell who was a delight.
Romance is a journey, and I enjoyed the journey that the characters went on both individually and together. This was a heartwarming, festive romance in a lovely setting. This is the perfect book to read while curling up with a warm blanket and a cup of cocoa. I found this book to be well written, well thought out and charming.
Well written, festive, charming, and heartwarming.
It’s been three years since Holliday Harrison lost her fiancé. She is working at Christmas Resort, and is jumping head first into the holiday season. Her plan is to sail through the holidays making sure she stays extremely busy. When Damon MacAndrew arrives at the resort he stays in one of the log cabins. He is business minded and has a hidden agenda, he wants to buy the resort and make some serious changes to it. Holly loves the Christmas Resort just the way it is, with its year round festivities, the last thing she wants is change. So she must do everything possible and derail Damon’s efforts to purchase the resort. The more time they spend together on sleigh rides, drinking hot cocoa and long walks in the snow, the closer they become. All the while the magic of Christmas is wafting in the cold winter air, Damon’s heart begins to melt, as he enjoys the spirit of Christmas.
Christmas Secrets in the Scottish Highlands written by author Donna Ashcroft, is a magical Christmas read that will launch you into the Christmas spirit. The wonderful detailed descriptions of the Christmas Resort and the sweet smells from the kitchen makes you feel like you are sitting by the fire in the resort’s living room. I was ready to go for a walk in the snow and pour a cup of hot cocoa. The twinkle lights are hung and the tree is standing tall with all its decorations. This wonderful escape to the Scottish Highlands at my favorite time of year was exactly what I needed. This lovely Christmas story is a must read for this holiday season, with lovable characters and beautiful scenery. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I highly recommend it.
"Christmas Secrets in the Scottish Highlands" by Donna Ashcroft is a delightful and heartwarming Christmas romance that captures the magic of the holiday season amidst a charming Scottish setting.
Although I’m not typically a fan of Christmas settings stories , the allure of the picturesque winter scenery and engaging storyline pulled me in.
The characters are so relatable and while some may seem unlikeable at time, I’ve learned that they did grow up on me throughout the story. Holliday’s resilience and determination to save the cherished Christmas Resort are admirable, and her interactions with the enigmatic businessman Damon add a layer of intrigue and romance to the plot.
The author paints a vivid picture of the enchanting Christmas Resort, making it easy to immerse oneself in the festive ambiance. The story is sprinkled with humor and heartwarming moments, reminiscent of Hallmark movies, striking a perfect balance between heartbreaking past and making you root for their future.
The author has created a perfectly balanced read with heartbreak, hilarious moments and a cast of characters that will make you laugh and cheer for them.
Perfect for a cold fall/winter evening read with a hot chocolate cup.
