Slow burn relationship between Amy and Hunter is a nice thread between these books. This series is a spin-off which can be read as a standalone series. This book should be read in the order written for this spin-off. The serial killers is finally coming to the conclusion in this book. Or is it? Amy and Hunter's budding romance keeps getting interrupted by a secret society bent on creating unrest and killing in the most attention grabbing ways.

Returning back to the everglades of Florida, savaged bodies are turning up. What else turns up? Another toy horse, signifying the 4th horseman, Death. As with the previous books in this series, there is race against the clock to prevent another victim taken and killed in a gruesome manner.

The focus on this is solving the mystery. Several red herrings were thrown in to misdirect a reader. What I found a bit lackluster was Amy and Hunter in this story. They were not as memorable as the previous books. There seemed to be less character development. We do not learn much new about Amy or Hunter. Neither one seems to be growing either, almost as if they are ever steady and never changing. Which is okay as this is a plot driven story instead of a character progression.

This romantic suspense is recommended to readers who enjoy FBI thrillers and serial killer themes.

Entertaining conclusion to this crime thriller series.

FDLE special agent Amy Larson and her partner, FBI special agent Hunter Forrest, are called to a gruesome scene in the Everglades. Chopped up body parts from many people spill out of a fallen barrel in a stretch of mangrove roots. Four more barrels still intact. And a note clasped in the fingers of one of the victims. Amy knows who left the calling card when she also received a little plastic horse, the pale horse of Apocalypse and the Four Horsemen fame, had shown up at the FDLE. The Archangel is taunting them and Amy and Hunter need to stop their end game.

I had not read the previous three books in this series, so I was a bit wary of jumping in here at the finish. Fortunately, I didn't have any problem following the story line and caught up easily with well-placed details and backstory. Lots of action and compelling characters made this an engaging book that captured me and kept my attention. I also really enjoyed all the historical information about the Seminoles and other native tribes as well as the description of the Everglades and its flora and fauna.

I listened to the audiobook while following along in the e-book ARC provided by the publisher. I thought the narrator, Roger Wayne, did a good job voicing all the characters and giving them each a different inflection and tone. The audio added to my appreciation and enjoyment of the book.

In retrospect, I would have preferred to have read the whole series in order.

This book is part of a series but you can jump into this without reading the previous ones. Heather Graham is always good at filling you in with the info you need to know what is going on.
Unfortunately I could not get into this story. It was a bit slow and I could not relate to the characters. And a big part of my like of Graham's writing is the paranormal and this book lacked that aspect.

This was great! It's well paced, well written and enjoyable from start to finish! I liked the ending and would recommend this! Special Thank You to Heather Graham, Harlequin Trade Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me to read a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

What I love most about Heather Graham’s books is that you can hop into any book within a series and never feel lost. She does a great job at filling in the reader on what is going on.

As for this book, I couldn’t get into the characters and the story was a little too slow for my liking. I did love the concept of the four horseman. That part was fun along with some of the historical information that was provided.

I was also a little bummed that this book was missing the paranormal aspects/activities. Usually her books have this and I really find it interesting.

Thanks NetGalley and publisher for the digital copy in exchange for my honest review!

The Reaper Follows by Heather Graham is the 4th book in her Amy Larson & Hunter Forest FBI series. When bodies start turning up in the Florida Everglades, dozens of oil drums emerge filled with body parts. They have seen this kind of killing before, and when a small beige horse is found in one of the barrels: they know what it means. Both continue their investigation into a series of crimes linked to the four horsemen in the Book of Revelations; the 4th one meaning death. FDLE special agent Amy Larson and her partner, FBI special agent Hunter Forrest, with both of them on this case since the beginning. This final book brings us to the final horseman and mastermind; who rides a pale horse. Amy and Hunter know they are close to finding the mastermind, who is killing so many people, especially in the Everglades.

Though we do not know who is the killer until near the end, we know he considers himself the archangel, and brainwashes his followers; then when they are no longer needed, he kills them. The mastermind (archangel) is a manipulator who manages to sway people to his cause. Sadly, many of these deluded cult followers take their own lives. I will say that half way through the I did suspect who the killer was.

I really liked the duo of Amy and Hunter, as in this 4th book, they are both planning to marry, once this case is solved. Amy is an amazing tough and fearless detective, who pushes herself to exhaustion, even when her superiors force her to get sleep and rest. Hunter being FBI, and closely working with all the agents that have gathered where the bodies have been found; he is also determined to protect Amy at any cost. As noted previously, they both made a great team. The romance between Amy and Hunter was sweet, as it was spread throughout the book. I really liked so many of the agents and secondary characters, who all played major parts in this conclusion; Aiden, Sabrina, Mickey, Jimmy, and so many wonderful team members. They all made a great team, working hard together to solve the case.

The Reaper Follows was an intense, suspenseful, haunting, dangerous story that kept us unable to put the book down; especially in the last quarter of the book when Amy’s life was in danger and she knew who the killer was. The story was a great plot, fantastic characters, and the murders were gruesome. The Reaper Follows was so very well written by Heather Graham, who once again gives us a fabulous murder mystery.

Another great story from Heather Graham. I loved the continuation of the four horseman story line. It has been interesting reading all of the interconnecting parts of this continuing story and how many heads this monster actually has.

Looking forward to reading the next book in the Amy Larson & Hunter Forrest FBI Series.

An eerie crime scene in the Everglades sets off an investigation that brings Florida Police Special Agent.Amy Larson and FBI Special Agent Hunter Forrest back to the beginning of their search of the murders that were done first. Forrest has an inside knowledge of cults violence. The FBI and Florida’s finest tackle the latest case brimming with danger. There are several barrels of people cut into pieces. Amy and Hunter wants to end the horrible and gruesome murders which they think is being done by a cult. Is it a cult?

It is a mystery, murder, and suspense novel. It is about the fourth horseman of the Apocalypse who is “Death.” It’s a well written novel that has a satisfactory ending. I enjoyed reading the novel as I like seeing how the agents worked to solve the “problem” or did they? Regardless, it was a great read.

Heather Graham has brought forth the fourth horseman of the Apocalypse, the Pale Rider, cognomen the Archangel, who is killing off followers in Florida this time in The Reaper Follows. Bodies are turning up in the Everglades, by the side of the road and elsewhere; his followers are cropping up drugged into criminal acts or caught at the scene of the crimes. FDLE Special Agent Amy Larson and FBI agent Hunter Forrest are in the thick of tracking one of the chief perpetrators Colin and rescuing Colin's drugged patsies. More twists in the plot than a corkscrew. Heather Graham at her best.

I had to find out what's going to happen in the final book of the series. And it didn't disappoint at all. There were so many twists and turns that left me shocked and on the edge of my seat. I could not trust anyone besides the two main characters. They were always together from the get-go and will finish it out. And I can't wait to see more of their relationship. They are truly something else, in my opinion.

Once again special agent Amy Larson and FBI agent Hunter Force are pulled in by another cool blue left by one of the four horsemen apocalypse cult. This time leaving so many bodies in the wake and just like the previous three books it was a wild ride. (That goes to say if you haven't read the previous three I highly recommend you do, while this book does good as a standalone it'll be even better when you get to know the characters and the whole situation). These archangels were really putting the two through the ringer and just when you think you're getting closer to the person that idea gets snatched away just as quickly. I enjoyed watching them follow the clues to eventually get to what is the end. Overall great read, Highly recommend you check out the whole series.

Amy Larson and her partner, Hunter Forrest have been called into a body dump in the Everglades. They have come across this killer before. So when they find a toy horse, they know there is more to come and it is going to be a long process.

Amy and Hunter are a unique pair. I enjoy their chemistry, on and off the murder scenes. And when Amy becomes and target…LOOK OUT!

I can always count on this author keeping me captivated! This book has some crazy folks in it. I swear! Talk about a sadist! I love a book with religious undertones. This story is full of them…the apocalyptic horses….Geez! Graham definitely takes the reader down a path which is twisted!

Need a wicked thriller…THIS IS IT! Grab your copy today n

I received this novel from the publisher for a honest review.

The best thing about Heather Graham books is you get a history lesson with it. Intertwined with Seminoles history and set in the Everglades of Florida we follow along as a the FBI, FDLE and local law enforcement solves a cases of dead bodies. The crime scenes are linked together by a small toy horses left behind… representing “The Four Horsemen”…. As in “the Apocalypse”.
The 2 leads are in different agencies but a couple trying to solve this together while also being targets.
Thank NetGalley and MIRA for the ARC!

Heather Graham’s latest in her Larson and Forrest series, The Reaper Follows is a thrilling and suspenseful journey into catching the next “Horseman” before it’s too late. In this fourth installment of the series, they must catch the Pale Horseman, and just as before, Amy Larson gets sent a tiny, plastic horse before people start dropping like flies.

This time is a little different, as this one gets a little too close to home again for FDLE Agent Amy Larson. As ever, Hunter Forrest has her back, and leans on the help from other locals that Amy introduces him to in order to keep them both safe. This book kept me at the edge of my seat and suspecting Everyone until the last page, which I loved.

It was also fun learning a little more about the Everglades and the indigenous people from the region and a brief bit about their history.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for this ARC!!

The writing in this one was fabulous! The setting descriptions were fabulous- you can almost feel the heat of the Everglades invading your body. The case was dark and features many different key characters. It all wrapped up with a very heart pounding conclusion.

This is a new to me author, but I will definitely be looking for more of her works. I did not realize that this was a part of a series, so if I go back and read the other ones before this one, I believe it might clear up some of the things I didn’t understand in this book. I enjoyed reading this book. It was fast paced and kept me on the edge of my seat. I was aware of this author and wanted to read some of her stories, but until now did not get the chance I’m so glad I took this chance because I think she is a wonderful writer. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys mystery and suspense.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Within the crime story that is THE REAPER FOLLOWS you will find romance – and not just Amy and Hunter – as well as touches of history lessons or items of interest that elevate the readers' enjoyment and allow a little escape from the crime.

Heather Graham is an 'always read' for me. Struggled a bit to get into this one. Maybe the setting or serial killer context. I don't know but will definitely be ready for the next one.

This is a good suspense mystery though I wish I had read the previous books in the series. The story pulled me in from the beginning and I loved the concept as well as the where it takes place.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
