The apocalypse has been stopped and the archangel has been found. Another good story revolving around the fourth horse, the pale one. Amy and Hunter, along with the other FDLE and FBI agents and the tribesmen worked as a team to finally solve what has been going on. I did guess the identity of the archangel early, but wasn’t totally sure until the end. Satisfying page-turner.

It appears that I jumped into the last book of a series, The story was fast paced at the beginning with great descriptions of places and has a well developed cast of characters. The author does a good job of recapping prior story lines and I enjoyed seeing how the manhunt of the century appeared to wrap up. The main characters did face some pretty difficult and the normal death defying interactions with the bad guys, coming out just slightly damaged which is always a little unbelievable in a story like this but frequently occurs. The book did drag a bit in the middle but was enjoyable.

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

This was a book where the mystery and suspense kept me guessing until the end however I had a hard time staying tuned in.

A book about a serial killer and bodies being found in barrels and the teams involved in solving who is behind all of it. Light on the romance but heavy into case solving.

If you like mystery/suspense only, this book is for you but if looking for romance too, this would not be at the top of my list.

I try to read her books because I like the subject matter and locations but they never hold my interest. It seems she regurgitates same plot over and over again .

The author is a master wordsmith and wise enough to let the setting share a starring role in her latest effort. The characters and the story have been established in previous books, which I haven’t read, but enough recap is provided to show that all fits together in this book.

This book caught my interest from the beginning. It has mystery, suspense, politics, religion and murder, something for everybody. It is set in the Everglades and you get a realistic feel what it’s like. The ending had a twist that I didn’t see coming. The book is part of a series but could be read as a stand alone. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

This is the first Graham book I’ve read in years and it’s fantastic! There are always little nuances that I appreciate. This one is a page-turner!

I know that this author is an established writer with many successful books to her credit, but I found this book mostly just very boring. I more or less finished reading it, skipping long passages after the 50% mark, trying to find some action or interest; but I have a Kindle full of books waiting, so I finally just called it quits on this one. It seems to be structurally well-written and will probably appeal to readers who like this kind of novel.

I Absolutely love this series by Hearther Graham, which is why I'm a bit sad I missed the 3rd book when it was here on NetGalley, but even though I missed out on that book ,I'm so glad I was invited to read this one, this series just keeps getting better with each book, and a bit darker as well but that what makes this series so good is the darkness, as well as how twisted her bad guys seem to be and how her characters come to live .

Dead bodies are turning up in large numbers in the Everglades, and the predators responsible are human.

Florida Department of Law Enforcement agent Amy Larson has been loaned to the FBI to partner with agent Hunter Forrest to investigate a string of crimes that are linked to the Book of Revelation, the Apocalypse and the Four Horseman. The first three Horseman have been identified, captured and locked up, but it looks like the final Horseman has turned up in Florida. When parts of a woman’s body are spotted by a tourist in the Everglades, investigators are sent it and soon discover several oil drums full of dismembered human bodies. This is not the work of the alligators or other other animal predators who call the Everglades home; these people were killed by human hands. To find out who is behind these killings Larson, Forrest and an array of local and federal investigators will have to find out who the victims were and how they are linked.Ties to a political movement are discovered, but it will take the best efforts of all involved to find out who is behind the brutal deaths, and what the end game will be.
The Reaper Follows is fittingly the fourth in this Larson/Forrest series, and as such there are many fans who will pick this up eagerly to see the conclusion to the saga. I have read more than a few of Heather Graham’s other books, although none of the preceding titles in this series., and have enjoyed them. The action has always moved the story along, there is some romance mixed in with the action, and generally a bit of humor as well. In this book, the reader learns a lot about the history of the Native American tribes of Florida , and I certainly found the information interesting. Larson and Forrest have expanded their partnership beyond the professional, and there may be a romance brewing elsewhere on the team to boot. I was disappointed overall in this novel, however. The plot didn’t move along all that quickly, slowed in part perhaps by the lengthy discussions of that history. I found that the writing in general was not up to Ms Graham’s usual standards, lots of word repetition and dialogue far lengthier than the situations dictated. I don’t think that my not having read the previous books influenced my feelings about this book….I was easily able to figure out the relationships between characters and the overall picture of the criminal work that had preceded the current string of deaths. I also guessed pretty early on who was likely behind the crime, which didn’t help. Fans of Ms Graham will undoubtedly read this latest offering, especially those who have read the earlier books in the series, but for those who haven’t I can only recommend it with reservations. My thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing/MIRA for allowing me access to an early copy of The Reaper Follows.

Heather Graham’s writing can be compared to fine wine- it just keeps getting better and better! She grabs your attention with the very first sentence and refuses to let you go until the mystery is solved. The research she puts into her books brings the story and characters to life . An absolute must read author of mine. Definitely recommend to anyone who reads!!

The final book of Heather Graham’s Amy Larson and Hunter Forest FBI series has arrived and what an ending to the series! I had read the first two books, and I had to catch up with the third one before diving into the fourth and last episode of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. To experience and enjoy the series it’s recommended you start at the beginning to follow the journey of Amy and Hunter, a dynamic FDLE and FBI team, and the many supportive characters that show how teamwork can make a difference. Taking a modern theme and building on the cruelty of those that want all the power, its a book you can’t stop reading. Can they capture the madman in control before more bodies are found and crazy deluded cult followers threaten to take their own lives? The book’s Everglades setting is both dangerous and beautiful. When trying to defeat and capture those behind murder and mayhem the description provides the background needed to add suspense and danger to the story. As a former history major, I also enjoyed learning more about the history and culture of the native tribes of the Everglades and the coordinated efforts of the story’s teams.. The story offers suspense, danger, romance, and teamwork all to build a fine ending to the story. , I strongly suggest that you start with Danger in Numbers and read the whole series. Thank you Harlequin Trade and NetGalley for the ARC.

This book is a must read if you have read the other 3 books in this series first. The other books setup the premise of murder and mayhem connected to a deluded person using the 4 Horseman for personal gain. This book brings us to the final horseman and mastermind. The mastermind in this story is genius manipulator who twists the very real events of the world to sway the others to his cause. Our protagonists, Amy and Hunter, introduced in book 1 work with an ever-expanding team to thwart the mastermind and stop the Apocalypse. This story might be a little fantastical, but the premise could be ripped from the headlines with a suave person manipulating those looking for their place in the world.
The characters take events that are frightening and could be very real and humanize them especially Amy. She is tough, almost fearless and empaths with others working herself to exhaustion. Hunter has found a way to pay it forward having escaped a cult with the help of the FBI. Together, they are a fabulous team. Aiden, Sabrina, Mickey, and the others are more fleshed out in this story and play a huge part in the conclusion. The action in this book takes place in the Everglades adding another level of danger as more than human predators lurk there.
The first book in this series is the best because everything is fresh and new. It is a 5-star read. Book 2 kicks it up a notch by moving beyond Florida to show the reach of the mastermind. This book is very good and full of action and chaos. Our agents race from scene to scene with their team often falling into bed exhausted. This book gets a little bogged down at times with history and the numbers of characters and victims. We need a few more of the breaks in the action like Amy and Hunter discussing a church wedding despite difficult incidence in the church. That allows the reader to catch their breath before diving back into the action and high victim count.
When we reach the conclusion and I will spoil nothing, it is crazy to think the depths someone will go to. Heather does an amazing job of creating a despicable mastermind with no redeeming qualities.
Overall, I would recommend this book. In the world today, with crossovers on both TV and in movies, I kept hoping for a crossover with the Krewe.

At times fast-paced and at times slow, The Reaper Follows has crime, passion, love interests, politics, murder and mystery. Heather Graham books are usually very active and intense. This one is not quite the same as ones before it but still offers an interesting read with a touch of Florida history in the exotic Everglades location.

I am a huge fan of Heather Graham. So I normally grab every new book she writes. Somehow though, I think I fell into the middle of a series so this book seemed more of a continuation rather than an introduction. So I struggled with the characters relationships and the story line a bit.
My advice would be, read her previous books before this one or you may come away disappointed. The love fest going on got to be really annoying too. (All the different police departments thought so highly of each other, the Florida Everglades were the best thing ever, etc.) It got old. The bad guys were really gross and revolting and the good guys were without any faults.
Proceed at your own risk.

The Reaper Follows is the fourth and final book in the Amy Larsen/Hunter Forrest series. I would strongly suggest you read the books in order, as they do build upon each other and share the same characters. Overall I enjoyed the series and very much wanted to know how it ended, however this fourth novel was rather a disappointment for me.

Heather Graham is a well know author, with multiple novels previously published, but this one in particular seemed so half heartedly written. I would almost say Graham was distracted while writing it and basically mailed it in. For being the conclusion of a four book series, the plot was very slow and I found myself reading the same conversations between characters over and over. There is only so much "let's loop character X in" that a reader can handle before getting a real sense of deja vu.

While reading the novel it was clear Graham has a great love and respect for the Florida Everglades area and the history of those American Indian tribes who have made homes and communities there. However, the reader did not need pages and pages of a history lesson on the Miccosukee tribe. It distracted from action of the book and time-sensitive need to solve the serial murders by the FBI and local law enforcement officers.

I thank NetGalley and MIRA Books for the opportunity to read this novel in exchange for an honest review. The Reaper Follows hits bookshelves in April, 2024.

Good book! It kind of felt like a history lesson at times lol but I live in Florida so it was a bit interesting for me! This book had suspense, intrigue, mystery, kidnapping, brain washing, cults, murder, mystery, gas lighting, a goid who done it and some crazy twists and turns! The storyline was interesting and kept me reading on! It wasn't one of my top favorites but still worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

The Reaper Follows by Heather Graham is the 4th book in the Amy Larson & Hunter Forrest FBI series.

Deep in the Florida Everglades, the body of a woman is discovered in pieces, presumably ravaged by an alligator. Upon closer inspection, it’s determined no animal could make such perfectly precise cuts. Only a blade could do that. Wielded by a human. Soon, dozens of oil drums emerge amid the river of grass. Each one packed to the brim with body parts.

FDLE special agent Amy Larson and her partner, FBI special agent Hunter Forrest, share a bad feeling that extends beyond the horrifying nature of the grim discovery. They’ve seen this kind of sadistic killing before, and when a small beige horse is discovered at the bottom of one of the barrels, they know exactly what it means. The fourth horseman of the apocalypse rides a pale horse—and his name is Death.

The story had the right amount of suspense with a hint of romance. The story's pacing was intense, and the plot made sense. There were credible characters with an atmospheric locale.

The Reaper Follows is a good addition to the series. A rate this a 4 out of 5 stars. I would recommend this book and series.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for providing an advanced reader’s copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This is the 4th in the Amy Larson & Hunter Forrest FBI series. This was a fast paced with plenty of twists and turns which Graham is known for. I found that this story had a great blend of romance and suspense that keeps the readers guessing what will happen next. Once again Amy and Hunter are on the trail of one of the horsemen. They have already eliminated three and know are ready to combat the 4th and final horseman. They have been called into the Florida Everglades where they have found parts of a body. As they start to search the area, they find even more bodies and with these bodies is a toy beige horseman. Will Amy and Hunter find this last horseman and stop him or her or will they find themselves captured and killed.
