I loved the artwork of this book, but I feel that it's not for young children. The little wolf is so cute! The whole shooting and holding a creature in a cage and talking of killing makes the whole thing a a little dark.

Really beautiful artwork. An adorable story which is also unexpectedly dark! I liked how the ending was done, it was very clever.

Beautiful artwork throughout. A surprising take on Little Red Riding Hood and the wild. It raises the question: what makes a person bad? Who can we trust?

The main character, the little wolf, was so cute. He was full of emotion; joy, fear, shame. He trusted people he shouldn’t have and didn’t listen to his mama. I loved the very likely path he took through the forest with remembering any words of warning.

The illustrations were beautiful and creepy. I recommend to anyone who likes classic fairy tales reimagined.

In a twist on the classic Little Red Riding Hood tale, the little red wolf is heading out to bring some treats to his grandma when he becomes lost and accepts the help of a little girl.

I absolutely love the illustrations in this one. It gets dark pretty fast (though not gory), and certain sections left me a bit disturbed. Yet there's no denying the skill and magic that went into ever picture. I also love the twist at the end. I'm relieved that this isn't one of those dark fairy tales that ends in tragedy, but it still pauses to reflect on how hatred comes to be and festers until it becomes something monstrous, even affecting people who couldn't have been involved. It also subtly explores the difference between kind and nice. There were enough disturbing elements that I can't give this one a perfect rating, but it does what it set out to do beautifully, and I'd definitely recommend it for anyone who wants a bit of a thrill alongside some breathtaking artwork.

Thank you to NetGalley and Oni Press for this ARC. All opinions are my own.

This is soo good! I love this reverse version of little red riding hood.

The art is so beautiful! And I love the story at all.

But, there's one thing I can't get enough, that is about a woman (little girl's mom) that feel comfort and believe that the wolves understand her. My mind asking, "why this woman felt like that? What was the wolves do for her? Why this woman not telling her husband so he wouldn't misunderstood?"

But, after all, I just love this book! I love how the little wolf so clumsy but cute at the same time. I enjoy read this. So, I want to thank you for writing this! Big love for you❤️

Ps. I am sorry for my poor English, I'm not fluent, that's why I started to read English book. Thank you.

This book was so adorable, I loved everything about it, the illustrations were so well done, they suited the book perfectly, the story was amazing as well, even thought is very short I could really connect with the characters. I’m sure the kids are going to be just as enthralled with this amazing book as I was. I will definitely recommend! Thank you netgalley and the publisher for this early copy

Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for giving me this eArc to review.

A wonderful quick read with stunning art that is inspired by Little Red Riding Hood but I would say it's a bit darker. The ending felt a little all of a sudden but overall it was a good read.

Beautifully illustrated book which would appeal to adults as well as children. This is a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood with the wolf in the red cape and the humans as the 'villains'. The book is dark but the moral is very clear. It reminds me of the original Grimm's Fairy Tales which were never sugar coated. I will definitely buy a copy of this to put on my shelves.

A thought provoking, little red riding hood inspired tale with phenomenal illustrations! As an adult I really enjoyed this book!

The illustrations may frighten younger children, however, I think they made the tale come to life right off the pages themselves. I absolutely loved it!

Thank you for providing me the opportunity to review "The Little Red Wolf” prior to publication. I am appreciative and leave my sincerity review voluntarily.

This has remnants of the Little Red Riding Hood tale, but it’s really a brand new and scary story. The illustrations and the text styles were appealing, but the story was lacking. The ending of the book felt too abrupt and left this reader feeling a bit depressed.

This book is absolutely beautifully illustrated, and I loved the font and text layout. Unfortunately, the rest of the book did not work for me. The prose is sparse, and seems to be at an early independent reader level, but the themes are very dark and would be better suited to middle grade at least. I also found the story itself muddied, sort of starting as a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood, but spiraling into it's own dark fairy tale/ghost story, with an abrupt ending. I wouldn't share this one with my own kids, who are definitely distressed by some of the elements of this one.

The illustrations are the best part! They are stunning!! I took my time reading this short book because I was slowly admiring this gorgeous, gorgeous artwork. The colors popped and were vibrant and visually appealing. I enjoyed the use of light and dark contrasts with the graphics.

I loved this retelling of the classic fairytale Little Red Riding Hood. It was a creative concept where we got the wolves' perspectives, but the ending was super abrupt. I could’ve used a few more pages and a more satisfying conclusion because I had questions. But overall, I liked the story and the themes/messages it gave us. There are some good lessons to learn, especially for children. Definitely recommend!

It's a stunning version of Little Red.
I adore the illustrations and the different perspectives given by the characters involved.
The dark background really focuses on the Little Red Wolf, but I felt the fonts (although beautiful) make it a bit challenging. I wonder if elementary readers can decipher the elongated strokes of the letters. The story also has brunt aspects of humans. I did enjoy the plot and appreciated the different version of the Wolf's song but as another reviewer pointed out, the story ended rather abruptly.
I did enjoy it still. Still adore the illustrations. Thank you

Wow! What a unique retelling of "Little Red Riding Hood"! "The Little Red Wolf" is a "Little Red Riding Hood" retelling from a friendly wolf cubs perspective. He is to bring a rabbit to his grandmother to eat, but along the way, he gets lost and meets the evil woodcutter's daughter.

The most stunning thing about this book is the artwork. While the retelling story was an interesting twist, each page was visually stunning. The pictures were beautifully drawn, and were illustrated in color! The book was super short, and I'm guessing the target audience would be middle grade (it is a bit of a gruesome fairy tale for kids, expecially from the wolf's point of view). I think that teachers could also utilize this graphic novel as a compare/contrast with the original fairy tale. Overall, I have high praise for this new graphic novel and highly recommend, if only to see the amazing artwork!

5/5 Stars

The illustrations are amazing, with light and dark colors and images that convey the tone and mood. It had an interesting twist to the retelling of Little Red Riding Hood story, but the ending felt very abrupt.

The Little Red Wolf is a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood with a unique twist, as we follow a young wolf's journey through the woods. The artwork throughout this book is stunning, with a darkly enchanting narrative to match. I did find the ending rather abrupt and could've done with another few pages, however I still thoroughly enjoyed this story.

A big thank-you to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for giving me a copy of this book for an unbiased review.

2.5/5 - Liked certain aspects more than others.

The illustrations in this book are absolutely stunning. I'm afraid that parents who have bought this book for their children will be disappointed, because whilst the pictures are mesmerising and lovely, they're also very dark (which matches the overall themes in the story). I however loved the illustrations and spent quite a while peering into the fanciful details of the lush forest and its denizens. If I were rating the book for its art alone, it would be an easy 5/5.

However, the story for me fell flat. There are so many themes introduced in a very short period of time, and I felt that none of them were sufficiently explored as they each gave way for another theme almost immediately. The story was giving me whiplash - I wasn't sure if I was reading a retelling of the Little Red Riding Hood but from a wolf's perspective or a reflection on generational expectations and falling short or a commentary on human destructiveness when it comes to our natural environments or a feminist witchcraft tale or a tragedy fuelled by guilt. Any one of these themes (or even two, or three) would have been fantastic, but trying to address them ALL in an 82-page picture book felt confusing. I wish this were a longer graphic novel, which would lend itself to a thorough exploration of all these themes, or that the focus were more narrowed.

In short, I'd recommend this book to lovers of dark fairytales, though definitely not to children.

What a wonderful remix of the traditional fairy tale! The artwork is *stunning* and perfectly complements the atmosphere for the story. The perfect fall read - cosy, warm and a little spooky!

What a gorgeous retelling of The Red Riding Hood! The story has been adapted beautifully, and the illustrations couldn't fit it better or be more gorgeous.

Excellent art, story is beautiful and reminds me of the grins fairy tales my mother would read to me as a child. The only worry I would have would be that the imagery and content might be a little scary for young readers. I personally think the whole book is reminiscent of Grimm’s fairy tales and gives off the vibe of the classics, something I would say is perfect for children.
