This was such a nice little ode to unlikely friendships. I love reading books that are set in countries that aren’t my own, and ‘The Paris Roommates’ ticks so many more boxes for me. It definitely gave ‘Emily in Paris’ vibes, but also ‘Younger’, ‘Partner Track’, and even a little bit of ‘Gossip Girl’. It was nice to see positive female friendships, as well as friendships between both sexes.
I saw that this was a series and I am likely to continue with it.
I thought this story was cute. The love and connection between the roommates was something I think we all yearn for, and who doesn't want to uproot their whole life and move to Paris?! But some of the outcomes seemed a little far fetched. I get that Thea was a small town girl but, at 30 she still blushes when someone talks about kissing with tongue? That said, I feel this is the start of a series featuring each of the roommates, and I will read the next one!
At first I thought it was cute calling the characters by dinner courses that they were apparently similar to, but not far in it got too much. I also found it really annoying that although there were ‘problems’ in the story, everything and everyone was so perfect - of course they could do a makeover on Thea, of course she didn’t have the money and the rest of them paid, of course the menu that they came up with was perfect, of course the drawings of the new restaurant were perfect and on and on it went. I mean what are the chances of calling 6 or 7 people who live overseas and they just all drop what they are doing and fly to another country straight away, even quitting their job to do so? I can see this being the first book in a series where there is a book focusing on each of the courses. Despite only giving it 3 stars because it was too unrealistic, if I do come across another book in this series, I will probably read it because of the setting in Paris.
This book was so charming and made me want to rewatch Emily in Paris! I loved it so much! Especially the relationships with all the friends!
This book is an example of when friends come together and truly care for each other as to the results that can occur. However, I had a hard time with Thea as to the constant crying and hands to her cheeks due to blushing. She can grow up sheltered but come on? I am glad she found herself and the right decision with Jean Luc and knew how how beautiful she is. Yes, Nanine is a restaurant, but it is so much more than that. It is a family and dreams that can only come together when the roommates are best friends and really want to succeed together. That is why with the support of investments made by Madison,Kyle, Dean, Sawyer and Brooke both financially and emotionally, that it was only right that Thea named her bakery "The Best of Friends".
10 years ago 6 Americans spent a year in Paris as roommates, working in a restaurant. They became good friends with each other and the owner of the restaurant. Now said owner has asked them for help and they all reunite in Paris...
This book features mainly Thea, a rather shy baker who has blossomed in Paris 10 years ago but after returning to the U.S. fell back into an unfulfilling life full of work and not much else. With the help of her former roommates she finds herself and her true love.
I enjoyed reading this story and I liked all the characters of the roommates (who will probably all get their own book). While I enjoyed reading about all the different roommates and what happened to Nanine's restaurant I felt Theas and Jean-Lucs love story was a bit unconvincing. Still I liked the story and will definitely look out for the stories of the other room-mates.
I received an ARC via Netgalley.com and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Beyond excited for this beautiful book! I can’t wait to meet Thea and join her on her Parisian adventure! I absolutely love Emily’s& Paris & Friends Sinai knew this book will be the perfect read for me! I love the bond between her grandmother and her as well which I could relate to and I can’t wait to share my full review and thoughts very soon.
