Five Gold Rings by Kristen Bailey is a festive rollercoaster of humour, romance, and unexpected adventures. From the opening scene—where Eve’s Christmas takes a disastrous turn in the most awkward way imaginable—to a wild road trip full of mishaps and heart, this book is a joyride that keeps you laughing and rooting for its characters.
Eve is a relatable and endearing heroine, handling her heartbreak with a mix of vulnerability and hilarious impulsiveness. Her dynamic with Joe, the sweet and secretly smitten "sexy elf," is delightful, and their chemistry grows naturally over the course of their chaotic mission. The quirky supporting characters, especially the lovable Caspars, add extra warmth and charm to the story.
The adventure to recover five misplaced gold rings adds a unique twist, with a series of madcap situations that are as laugh-out-loud funny as they are heart-warming. Bailey’s sharp, witty writing perfectly balances comedy with tender moments, creating a festive rom-com that’s impossible to put down.
While the story leans into its outrageous scenarios, the emotional core—Eve’s journey of self-discovery and Joe’s quiet devotion—grounds it beautifully. The festive atmosphere, complete with mistletoe moments and Christmas spirit, is the perfect backdrop for their blossoming romance.
Five Gold Rings is a feel-good festive read that’s as funny as it is heart-warming. Perfect for fans of Love Actually and Bridget Jones, this book is a must-read for anyone seeking holiday cheer and a generous dose of laughter. Highly recommended for your Christmas reading list!
💍 BOOK REVIEW 💍
Synopsis: After the surprise and shock of catching her boyfriend cheating, Eve – totally devastated – reacts by throwing the gifts she’s selflessly bought and wrapped for HIS family out of the window. But while doing so she discovers her own present from Chris under the Christmas tree: an engagement ring, bought at the jeweller’s where she works. What the jingle bells is going on? And what was he thinking?
Confused and with her Christmas plans in tatters, Eve rocks up at the jeweller's for some tea and sympathy with her lovely employers, Mr and Mrs Caspar, who quietly put in a distress call to her colleague, Joe. Eve doesn’t know that Joe is secretly in love with her, but her bosses do, and they know he’s just the person Eve needs to comfort her in a crisis. Joe gets the call while moonlighting as a buff butler at a Christmas-themed hen do and races across town to help console Eve. But as he learns about her heartbreak, the Caspars realise a crucial delivery has gone astray: five gold rings destined for Christmas proposals and weddings have been sent to the wrong address. Can Eve and Joe retrieve the rings and get them to their rightful owners in time? As they set off in Joe’s ancient mini – Joe still dressed as a sexy elf and Eve just a liiiittle bit tipsy – their adventure begins. With three proposals and two weddings to get to, it’s up to Eve and Joe to save Christmas.
Review: What started as a wonderful Christmas read has ended up as a raging DNF. In hindsight, the synopsis was probably a very big red flag. The story was amazing and I was super invested. Even the characters were well rounded and I was loving them and the diversity. Unfortunately the writing is god awful. Given how concise (or lack thereof) the synopsis is you can probably imagine the novel. But to make it even worse, being dual POV, the author would REPEAT literal sections of the story and dialogue that already happened in the previous POV. It was getting really frustrating because I was skipping pages of identical text just to get to new content. It was so frustrating it wasn’t even worth continuing, and unfortunately I don’t recommend this book.
Gosh this was a cute book. I really felt like I was reading the script of a future Hallmark Christmas movie. Eve is going through a messy breakup and feels even more betrayed when she finds out her cheating ex was going to propose on Christmas. Luckily her coworker Joe is there to help her pick up the pieces and distract her with a holiday mission to deliver five rings to their jewelry store customers. What I loved most about this book is Joe's perspective. I loved how he fell first and he's harboring this huge crush on Eve. It wasn't entirely believable how quickly she started to see Joe in a new light but I was so into them both getting a HEA. Not a perfect book but it kept me entertained throughout. 4.5 stars.
Oh I just love a book that makes me smile and laugh out loud! An adorable, feel good story which I devoured so quickly!
This book follows two POV, Eve and Joe. Eve has just walked into her boyfriend of 3 years cheating on her in their own flat at Christmas time. Shes heartbroken, understandably. Joe, has been in love with Eve since they first met. Their boss’ send them on a work Christmas adventure. What will happen next?
Loved the writing style, the main characters and the whole plot! It isn’t a deep book, but a feel good story to help take your mind off things!
Definitely recommend this festive read.
it was absolutely heartwarming! The story follows eve and joe as they navigate love and the magic of Christmas. It's a perfect read to get you in the holiday spirit! 🎄❤️ full review on insta and Goodreads
This was a very cute holiday-themed, rom-com. I enjoyed the story, but thought there could have been more ACTUAL romance between Eve and Joe…just getting together at the end and an epilogue with only Eve was slightly disappointing
Five Gold Rings by Kristen Bailey had well-developed characters and an engaging plot. Such a great read. I highly recommend!

Hilarious! Kirsten Bailey does it again! Absolutely love everything she writes, has me hooked from the first page and hasn’t ever taken me longer than 24 hours to finish one of her books! The characters were well explored and enough info given to fall in love with them!
Ich weiß ehrlich gesagt nicht, wie ich dieses Buch bewerten soll, da ich es aufgrund relativ kurzer Ausleihdauer (ohne Verlängerung) nicht lesen konnte.
What a fun book! Filled with laughs, love, and light, this is the perfect book to curl up with a cup of tea and cozy blanket during Christmastime.
I will definitely be rereading it this season!
A lovely and well written romance, with realistic characters that felt very relatable.
I wpuld highly recommend it
I am SO LATE for this, but THIS BOOK y'all!
Eve & Joe were a delight to read, and their conversations were delicately sweet, and the situations they get into (particularly Joe) are simply hilarious.
Also, her upcoming book is giving Sex Ed vibes, and I can't wait to read it 💙
Cute premise! I liked the characters and the storyline, but it just felt a little repetitive to me in rehashing the FMC’s past relationship.
