Death, murder, black market. Even I didn’t see the killer until it was to late. Such a wonderful book. Loved Maple and her desire to solve problems. A must read for those who like mystery.

This was my first time reading this author and I loved it so much I would highly recommend this book to my cozy mystery loving customers. I loved the character of Maple, trying to make her way in the world and finding her place in a male dominated world after World War II. They plot moved fast and kept me guessing. Cannot wait to read more!

A very strong 4. I really enjoyed this one. I love the main character, Maple. Her struggles with loss and understanding her own talents is one that I think will resonate with most women. Of course, I love the dollhouses and sweet Ben. Even thought I don’t like cats, Mack is alright. The mystery was great but I wasn’t totally satisfied with who the ‘bad guy’ was because we don’t get much information about him before the big reveal and that feels a little like cheating to me. The supporting characters are excellently drawn. Maple’s got a very interesting life. A solidly crafted read, well worth the time.

After World War II, Maple, widowed and penniless, must learn to survive thanks to her hobby, miniature houses, to which she finds another use as a means to recreate and investigate murders.
An entertaining mystery that presents us with delightful characters that will make you want to know more about them and their lives. First book in a series that promises good characters and ingenious plots.

DEATH IN THE DETAILS is a dazzling debut! Maple is such a relatable heroine - an outsider in her postwar, small New England town - who finds community through her talent as a miniaturist and legal background. The mystery is perfectly paced, the characters are real, flawed, and imperfect, and the impeccable historic details round out every page. I'm a fan for life!

A delightful start to a new mystery series set right after WW2. Maple is having trouble adjusting to small town life, her husband died in the war, she’s worried about paying her mortgage, and although she has a law degree can’t find a job. Her one delight is crafting miniature houses that people love. After being first on site at an alleged suicide she quickly realizes it could be murder. When the sheriff tells her not to worry her pretty little head, she creates the scene in miniature, and partners with young deputy Kenny to find the truth.
Filled with wonderfully detailed characters and an interesting murder, I’m already waiting for the next book in the series.
