I thought Alexander and Eden worked well together. They had strong chemistry and Eden made him a better person and Bo’s.
I wish the conflict had been built up better. There were a few times where you could tell who would cause problems for them, but still it seemed to come out of no where.
The rest of the story was well written and overall, the story was enjoyable.
Katrina kwan does it. She’s absolutely fantastic and as a fellow rat writer who loves a good cooking show, the tension was PALPABLE. I loved it.
Didn't read it since it was republished. I will be reading the new and updated version, I'm pretty sure I'll like it, hopefully.
This was super fun! I first discovered this book through raving reviews about it being a Reylo story, so I knew I had to pick it up. I loved how charming and fun and witty our characters were, especially the leading lady. She was so much fun to follow and I adored her. It was so much fun reading the scenes in the book in the kitchen and the restaurants - it was as though I was watching Hell’s Kitchen and ratatouille and The Bear!!! I loved everything about this!
I truly loved this book! The tension between Alex and Eden is scrumptious. This was the perfect blend of Enemies-to-Lovers and The Bear, and having had worked in food, sometimes it was a little too real for me. I have loved Katrina Kwan's writing since her fanfic days, and she is a forever buy author for me.
Knives, Seasoning, & A Dash of Love by Katrina Kwan had well-developed characters and a plot that was engaging. This book was a delightful read. I highly recommend!

This book is a mouth-watering blend of culinary expertise, witty banter, and sizzling romance. Alexander Chen, a talented and temperamental chef, and Eden Monroe, his feisty and resourceful sous chef, are a match made in heaven - or perhaps in the kitchen.
The author masterfully explores the complexities of their relationship, balancing the tension between their professional and personal lives. Alexander's fiery personality and Eden's determination to prove herself create a deliciously explosive dynamic.
The writing is engaging, with vivid descriptions of culinary creations and the fast-paced kitchen environment. The supporting cast adds depth to the story, and the romance is expertly woven throughout the narrative.
Overall, this book is a must-read for fans of romance, foodies, and anyone who enjoys a good underdog story. With its sizzling chemistry, witty dialogue, and culinary delights, this tale will leave readers hungry for more.
I can never say no to a chef romance and this one certainly did not disappoint! It was steamy in the kitchen AND the bedroom my friends. I loved the setting here and I thought Eden and Alexander had some depth. I enjoyed their banter and their chemistry just fit. This book also addressed some social topics, which I enjoyed as well. Chef's Kiss *mwah*
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC
The romance was so fun but the cringy spicy scenes kinda ruined it for me. Their banter was fun and I was so entertained until they started banging and it took me out of the story because of how ridiculous it was.
Knives, Seasoning, and a Dash of Love pairs together Eden Monroe, a sous chef who might have (definitely did) lie about her credentials to get her new job, with hot-shot chef Alexander Chen, who is pretty look out but a nightmare to work under. Eden desperately needs this job and constantly lives under the threat of being discovered, while Alexander is burnt out from the strain of running a haute cuisine restaurant under his controlling boss. They're both fighting their inner demons and fighting a red hot attraction to each other.
This book was a breeze to read; easy to get in to, fast-paced and pretty light. I enjoyed the main characters Alexander and Eden and their back stories and thought they had great chemistry. I loved the restaurant setting and seeing into the world of haute cuisine, and the recipes being whipped up made my mouth water more than once. Can definitely recommend this book for a quick and steamy read.
I had the privilege of interviewing Katrina Kwan on my podcast The Nerds Awaken, where we got all the behind the scene details about the book and her writing experience.
This book was very cute and enjoyable, and I really liked both main characters in this book. I also find culinary romances really fun in general, and this did not disappoint in that department. The book had the perfect amount of banter and spice, so I would definitely recommend and I'm also curious to read more by this author.
I've finally been able to get my hands on this, and wow! It was worth the wait! An absolutely charismatic duo on the pages, battle it out in the kitchen, and (surprise surprise!) find love!
This was an absolutely intoxicating read, and I can't wait to see more from this author!
Thank you, Netgalley and Publisher, for this Arc!
This is a fun sweet romance. I enjoyed the setting. I really like anything kitchen/restaurant related and this was so fun to see in a romance. It is just a great lighthearted book.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
Imagine if the Bear was a romantic comedy? That’s Knives, Seasoning & a dash of love! It is the perfect combination of fun, sweet and spicy. I loved the grumpy x sunshine dynamic of the couple, and their development. It is for sure I book I would recommend for anyone who loves contemporary romance.
I first learned about this book on twitter and I thought it would be perfect for me, as the rating might indicate it was not as perfect as I had hoped. The insta lust kind of annoyed me and the whole “he’s so big and she’s so small” grew old real fast. It was also way too sappy at moments, like I’m talking about sentences upon sentences of cheesyness. The sex scenes were so awkward to read, like who talks that much during sex? However, i couldn’t stop smiling and kicking my feet for most of the book the only thing that made me roll my eyes was the third act break up (they don’t really break up but they kind of) it was so stupid and didn’t add anything to the story except more pages.
had trouble getting into it but ended up enjoying it quite a lot. Reylo fanfic with a culinary twist.
A good story that has two people who meet during culinary school for a short period but Shang does not remember her. Eden has fudged on her application but she needs this job and she can cook. She and Shang become friends and slowly his iron rule in the kitchen has been replaced with please and thank you, and you are doing good. She keeps wondering why he is going by Shang and not by Alexander which is what she knew him by. A good story with very many layers between the two main characters but it all works, along with all of the different characters. The author also captures what it is like in the kitchen of a restaurant and it took me back in time. A very good book and worth the read.
If I had a dime for every time a Reylo fanfic became a novel, I'd have a lot of dimes by now. For some reason though, it works almost every time. This one is no exception, it's so so good.
Got an ARC for an honest review via NetGalley and to be honest I don't have much to say except that this book is pure serotonin and had me giggling curling my toes kicking my feet and also there's lots of pertinent social commentary and also the sex scenes are fanfic-worthy aka 🔥 pls do read it you won't regret it
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
