Definitely a cozy read but I wish there would have been more connection with the characters romantically. I kinda felt it was rushed in that way especially since in the beginning Rory didn’t really enjoy the love interest but suddenly they were an item. I wished it would have been more angsty. I felt I needed more connection from Jaime as well because I felt like I really didn’t know much about him.
Other than that I think this was a cute story and quick read.

I wanted to love this book with everything that I had in me. The cover blurb was SO SO SO good and I was instantly drawn to it. However, this book was not everything that was promised. To start, the characters have no chemistry. They meet on the plane, he goes to the same school as her, and then they share a room? It looks like this book tried all of the well loved tropes and tried combining them, but it was ultimately too much. Rory and Jaime were good friends...but I felt no chemistry. Their story felt super rushed, and honestly just lacking.
The side characters aka Rory and Jaime's suite mates Zoe and Marissa, were so incredibly two dimensional. They had virtually no personality because the book was SO focused on Rory. Rory's personality also changes on the fly. One minute she is scheduled to the teeth, and then Jaime tells her to lighten up and live in the moment and she is suddenly carefree??
I struggled with the time management of this book. We spend a whole chapter on her plane ride, yet a chapter and a half later we are a month into the semester? Is Rory also in like two classes? The only one she ever talked about was her Women in Ireland/ Irish class....
The plus side to this book was the descriptors. The depictions of the Irish countryside was amazing. I felt like I was there. It was vivid writing, and it flowed well. This was my favorite part of the book.
Thank you Netgalley and E.D. Hackett for the opportunity to read this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

This was soooooooo incredibly sweet. I absolutely enjoyed watching Rory and Jaime fall for eachother, even though they didn’t really know it at the time. I think the story was made better by having closed door romance, but I do wish there was just a *tad* more chemistry written into their relationship, because really it read as good friendship and there wasn’t a whole lot of flirting.
Grateful that Rory stopped being delulu over Scott & found her Irishman. My heart hurt during part 2 but the ending brought it all back together.
Overall a wholesome read for when you need to warm your heart!
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!
This was such a fun read! I loved this story and where it was heading. It sometimes felt a bit predictable. There were some twists in the story that were not really a surprise. But I do have to say that they were still fun to read.
I did feel like the characters were a bit flat, not developed fully. They were great characters, as in I loved them. But I feel like I did not get to know them that well. Also Rory's backstory could have been a bit more detailed. It sometimes felt a bit thrown in there.
Okay, first things first...this is NOT a romance!
For two reasons. First, nothing more than a kiss happens on page. Second, this book ends with an HFN, not an HEA. If you're interested based on its description and designation as a romance, keep this in mind.
For what this book is - women's fiction - it was a good read with a beautiful setting in Ireland. Jaime was an excellent cinnamon roll.
As women's fiction, 3.5 stars
As romance - not a romance, so not rate-able
This was a decent read overall. I liked the plot line and the story throughout. The side characters were a good addition to the book and added to the overall story. A few things that dropped the star rating for me was the female main character was harder to like from the beginning. Her over strict personality came off more annoying than I had anticipated. Also, words like Irish, Ireland are constantly mentioned every few pages and it’s distracting. We as readers know where the story is taking place so we don’t need to be reminded every few pages.
Like I previously mentioned the overall book was good, it was an easy read.
Thank you to NetGalley and E.D. Hackett for the opportunity to read this book as an ARC!
A sweet, no-spice romance set in beautiful Ireland!
The characters were likable enough, the setting in Ireland was lovely and gives the reader a view of the country through the character's eyes, and their romance was sweet.
There was a lot of mention of Ireland/Irish things, which was a bit overboard at times. Overall, though, an enjoyable read.
Tbh everything i want to say will turn into a spoiler for the one who haven't read this book yet😭😭 so I'll leave the details for my future Instagram review post..... but one thing I'd like to say is I WAS LOVING THIS BOOK SO MUCH that when I saw that there's going to be A BOOK# 2 WITH JAIME'S POV, I SCREAMED (which I thought was an internal one but it wasn't) really excited for the release of this book(and the 2nd one too!!)
A cute romcom, set in beautiful Ireland which you are reminded of on every page. Other than that, I loved the storyline, the characters and the sweet ending.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC. A fun read I would recommend to all.
I know this is classified as adult fiction, but the characters are young enough, I think it skirts YA. And with YA comes the angst. If you love a little angst in your romance books… this one’s for you!
Rory and Jaime get placed as roommates because of a mix-up. Because Jaime is from Ireland, Rory and their other two flat mates are able to explore with a local guide to a lot of places they wouldn’t have otherwise. Absolutely loved the setting, especially when they explored and we got to hear more about Ireland.
Loved the side characters… their flat mates, some football friends, and Jaime’s family. Did not love a couple other side characters who provided all the angst haha
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. Watch for A Match Made in Ireland to come out Sept 23, 2023.
This is a slow burn clean romance set in beautiful Ireland. It’s sweet, although I was often wishing for more spark in the storyline. Cute ending!
I wanted so badly to enjoy this book but I just couldn’t. The characters were super inconsistent (she’s uptight and controlling but dancing barefoot in the rain) and the writing was very amateur.
I ate this story up! It was a cute romantic story. My only issue I had that made me go from 4 stars to 3 stars is the over use of “Ireland” and “Irish” on every single page. The constant reminder of them being in Ireland (obviously that’s where the main plot is) and the over usage of “ Irish people” or “irish food” “smells Irish (or Ireland idr what one at this point). was just too much and felt like a space/ word count filler. If a books main plot is in Ireland I don’t think the need to say “these are his irish friends” when introducing someone.
It’s a great storyline but would have been better with out the constant reminder of the location
