This book was just 𝘀𝗼 𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘂𝗹! And Lucy Adam’s’ writing is so amazing. This felt like a hug in the best way possible!
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This book was SO GOOD!!! I literally just finished reading it and I miss it already. I miss the characters, I miss the story and I miss the family.
Daisy loves her work. Loves it so much. Yet she gets fired, after 13 loyal years, when she truthfully tells off potential clients in a meeting. Her rock-bottom follows when her "boyfriend" breaks up with her via Instagram direct message.
She runs into 2 young girls in the grocery store one night and decides she needs to make sure they're safe. What follows is funny, heartfelt and very emotional.
Archie, father to the 2 young girls, isn't ready for Daisy when she shows up in his doorstep to interview for the nanny position. In fact, he doesn't know anything about a nanny as it was his girlfriend looking for one for his girls, not him.
The slowest burn ever follows their meeting but the outcome is glorious and so worth the ride.
I really hope this book has a sequel because I would love to read more about this family!!
I would definitely recommend this book!!!
The first half of this book was a SLOG. I found myself not giving a hoot about Daisy, she was so pitiful. I only kept reading because of Archie and his girls. I loved the first encounter with the girls. They were hysterical. Archie was pure delight, he's a single father, artist, down to earth good hearted man.
this book fell flat for me, unfortunately. i loooved cara and bailey, and the energy and interactions they brought to the story, but outside of that, i was pretty meh about the book as a whole. i don't have anything super negative to say about it, falling flat perfectly describes my experience! there are moments set up for big feelings, but none of them ever really hit.
This book was unexpected, in a good way! For some reason I was expecting a more traditional, fluffy romance. This had the romantic plot, but it felt more of like a side story to the character developing journey Daisy was on. I didn't mind this, because I really liked Daisy. She was very real, kind of a mess, and would rant and ramble when she was nervous. I related strongly to that trait in particular lol.
The split timeline threw me off a little bit, at times it made the story feel choppy, and in moments it would cut into the middle of the scene. In the end I was happy for insights the flashbacks gave us, and that things were able to be revealed more slowly, instead of all at once.
I only wished we had more time with Archie and the girls, they were such a joy to spend time with throughout the story, Bailey reminded me of myself at that age, and they were written in a very realistic way. Sometimes children in books do not behave like normal kids at all, so I was grateful for these girls to be the way they were.
Overall this was a quick read, that was lighthearted and fun, while still stirring deeper emotions. Definitely recommend!
I was excited to read about a female that had her word flipped upside down. Then she turns her life around. This book didn’t keep my attention. I felt like the story was very slow.
Thank you NetGalley for a chance to read this ARC!
The first half of this book was really slow. A lot of snippets of info that weren't quite clicking at the right pace, but at about halfway through the book it gains a steady speed and I wasn't able to put it down.
A big theme of the book is the main character accepting her worthiness of love, and as a reader, I found her more endearing the more she stepped into that. Archie and his daughters were the best parts of this book, and I found myself thinking about how much I'd miss those characters now that I've finished the book.
Lower stars because of the initial pacing, but I absolutely loved the last half!
Thank you, NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for my ARC.
It took awhile for me to get into this book. But once I did, I fell in love with Daisy. I really wanted her to realize that her ex didn't deserve her. This book is a light hearted read and one that I would recommend to other readers who enjoy rom con books. I'll have to look for others by this author!
My Thoughts
After 13 years of giving her all to her employers at their company Branded Daisy Peterson loses her job and Jackson her boyfriend of 1 year on the same day.
Entering her life by pure chance are six-year-old Cara, 10-year-old Bailey and their father Archie who make up the Brown family members.
What Daisy finds over the course of the story is multiple truths about herself, her relationship pitfalls-especially with younger sister Mia, a bitter truth about former lover Jackson Oakley and the biggest truth of all which the reader is finally privy to right along with Daisy near books end.
Like others I found this to be a slow starter of a read but after buckling down with it also found myself sympathetic to Daisy as she navigated being unemployed.
As she learned that her former employment was a good springboard to finally explore different options in pertains to future career choices.
But most important of all as she learned to see both sides of how fact versus fiction should be interpreted in the future.
Now on to the characters: I loved Archie and his two daughters, Daisy was harder to warm up to, Mia had me dizzy and Betzy was a breath of sanity in an otherwise at times insane setting.
Helen the long absent mother of Daisy and Mia actually felt like an afterthought who had such a huge impact on both her daughter’s psyches as they grew up as well as when they became adults.
Put them all together and you have a story most readers will enjoy and some who will be as lost as Daisy for most of the read, until everything comes together by its end anyway.

On every book read as soon as it is done and written up for review it is posted on Goodreads and Netgalley, once released then posted on Amazon, Barnes and Nobles as well.
I enjoyed this sweet story that wasn’t just your classic romance but had a cast of lovable characters. I loved watching the story unfold as they all found something special and unexpected.
Cute read by Luci Adams!
Loved the flashback storyline to follow and the characters are likeable (which doesn't always happen in a book!!)
Thanks for the advanced copy!
Thanks to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press, and Luci Adams for the laugh out loud funny and heartwarming story, “It Must Be True Then.”
Daisy is a data analyst and very good at it. She works for a company she has been an employee of for 13 years. She is dating (somewhat covertly) Jax_O, the VP of Marketing, when he blocks her into his schedule once a week. She is a big sister to her wild and younger sister, Mia, and they were raised by her grandparents.
Archie is a single dad, an artist, a bartender, and has held many other professions. His daughters are my next favorite characters in the book. Daisy meets his daughters one night by accident and meets him on another night, never realizing the three are related.
“It Must Be True Then” is hilarious, emotional and warm. While I found it difficult to understand her infatuation with Jax_O, and wanted to sometimes shake this character, pieces of the puzzle and Daisy’s assumptions of things that happened to her, her friends, her sister are dropped until you get to the find the final pieces that show why she holds certain beliefs.
I loved this story. I can’t wait to read others by this author! Additionally, I am a data analyst and reading about a character with my job was fun!
A wonderful book about believing in yourself. I found this more women's fiction than romance. but the romance angle is there. The characters are relatable. The premise is followed throughout, with background details to flesh out the story. A quick read with life lessons and generational understanding thrown in to boot. I enjoyed this I think other readers will also. Pick this up and enjoy!!!!!!!!

3.5⭐ Daisy has realized you really can hit rock bottom when you lose your job, your boyfriend, and are estranged from your sister all at once. Seeking to claw her way out from the very definition of a bad year, her plan is to start by simply looking like she’s clawing her way out of rock bottom. On Instagram. Obviously.
But when she takes a stopgap job as a nanny to help a single father with his two young girls, being immersed in a close-knit, loving family starts to poke holes in her plan. Can making her not-so-picture-perfect life look perfect online really help her derailed career get back on track? Can it mend her relationship with her unreliable and painfully irritating sister? And can it get her back in the arms of her unbelievably beautiful and shallow ex…and as she gets closer to someone new, does she even want to?
I love the single dad / nanny trope, which is why I picked this up. It started out slow, and felt more like a self-discovery story. The dad and the kids saved the book for me, though.🙂 Honestly, I think a lot of younger readers will enjoy this. As a Gen X, I don't think I'm the primary target audience for this one.

I really loved this sweet story! I really felt for Daisy as she dealt with some very unfair and cruel moments with her ex and her job. I really loved her and Archie’s relationship from the start— they have a very slow start of being strangers to kinda friends to employer/nanny to lovers. But they are so cute and sweet and fun with each other right from their first meet which makes their whole story so deep and authentic and lovely. I absolutely loved the kids in this story!!! the first time I read the little voice shouting “DEFLECT” at criticism I fell completely in love.
it felt like parts of this story dragged on a bit too long. a lot of nuanced flashbacks and detail that I was tempted to skim to be to the current story, especially once Daisy and Archie’s story gets going.
over all though this is such a sweet, lovely, tender, funny story that I really loved!
thank you for the arc :)
This was such a great story! I loved that it was so different than anything I ever have read. Light read, relatable characters, perfect weekend read! Thank you for the opportunity!
It Must Be True Then by Luci Adams: I really enjoyed this slow burn (PG-rated!) friends-to-lovers romantic comedy by Luci Adams. It follows Daisy Peterson, a workaholic data analyst in London on her journey of self love. It took me a minute to get into the story and root for Daisy. She starts out as a doormat: pining over her AWFUL colleague, Jackson, who schedules at-home-only weekly dates with her via his PA, bailing out her sister, Mia, after another bad breakup, and doing others work without credit. Once she hits her low point - the destructive day where she gets fired, dumped, and has a huge fight with her sister - and then meets a handsome Scottish, widowed artist, the pace picks up. I couldn't wait for her to grow a backbone, and discover she's worthy of love and happiness, but once she did it, I was all in. "Because I wasn't sure I could love myself. I wasn't sure I was worthy of it. But he makes me feel worthy." 4/5 Stars

This was a fun read once it got going, but difficult to like the main character, Daisy. Love Luci Adams’ witty banter and quirky characters, would love to read more.
It took me quite a while to really get into this book. The pacing was a bit slow, and there was information withheld at the beginning that felt a little clunky. (I think that’s the technical term!) ;)
By the time I finally got to the chapter with the exposition, I was way more invested in the story. Throughout the book, I was frustrated at the FMC’s acceptance of her relationships and job, but all of that was easily explained by trauma from her childhood. I felt like the changes she made came about slowly and naturally. She eventually began to realize, with the help of MANY different people, that maybe all the assumptions she’s had in life weren’t always accurate. The MMC is incredibly swoon-worthy! He is kind, understanding, and loving throughout!
The whole premise of the story felt new and unique. I spent a good many chapters in the beginning truly not being able to predict what was going to happen, which is a rare occasion in romance!!
Overall, I DID like this book. I won’t likely rush to reread it, but I *would* recommend it to others!
Funny and binge worthy! Loved the premise of this story and the banter kept me reading well past my bedtime. Fans of a good rom com will enjoy!
