I loved this book so much it was so cute and well written. I loved Luca and Naomi and the banter between the two of them was soooo good!
This book is contemporary romance follow Naomi and Luca, two childhood penpals who wrote letter to each other for a decade before the letters just stopped. Until one day Naomi received a letter with a challenger to find Luca. Not very spicy so if you are looking for high spice this is not the book. But if you're looking for a cute romantic comedy with lots of banter and fun this is for you.

This was a really cute read. I’ve been in a reading slump so bad recently, that it seems like no matter what I read, I’m not loving. But this started to break that.

If you’ve ever read the book Love, Rosie; and disliked it as much as I did. This book is what that book could have been and more. It had all of the tension and chemistry that was missing from that book.

That being said, the chemistry from the letters and the tension there could have transferred over to the real life interactions more. And the plot was predictable. Though, it didn’t change how I felt about reading the book.

I can’t wait to read more from this author.

I really wanted to read this book because of the cover and title! I am a huge enemies to lovers fan and the cover was so freaking cute that it was calling to me. I ended up loving this book! We read about Naomi getting a letter from her penpal after a few years of not hearing from him. She then decides, with a little help from her coworker and friend, to go searching for him and meet him after all these years. I loved reading how we would go from present to past, but with the past only from the letters. I am not the biggest fan of multiple timelines, but with this book, it just work. I really fell for Luca. He had a hard life and really fell for Naomi and I just wanted him to get his happily ever after! I loved how the story played out especially at the end! There was a few plot twists that I saw coming, and a couple that I didn’t. In this book there is somewhat of a love triangle, but it’s also not one if that makes sense. I am not a big fan of love triangles, and I loved this book so not to worry about this trope! I would also say that this is an open door romance, but the scenes aren’t so descriptive.

Read if you like:
Dual POVs
Pen pals
Multiple Timelines
Neighbors to lovers
Adorable pets
Open door romance
Swoony hero
All the feels

I love books that include the epistolary trope and Hate Mail does this in fine fashion, and you can kind of guess what kind of letters from the title!

Naomi and Luca began writing to one another in the 5th grade as part of a school project and their letters are one constant in each other’s lives. Cue the present day with contact lost a couple of years prior until Naomi receives mail at the tv station where she is a weather presenter, and their communication starts up again.

Hate Mail is a story that takes the readers around the country, as we follow Luca’s whereabouts as well as the emotional ups and downs of Naomi and Luca’s lives during their teenage years and into adulthood.
I laughed out loud at times, their letters were an obvious way of trying to one up each other in nastiness, though it certainly cemented their connection and I enjoyed the direction the story took us, concluding with the present day.

Hate Mail has some open door scenes, with a mild spice level that complements the story. This was a fun read, I enjoyed it!

Thanks to netgalley onemorechapterhc and the author, Donna Marchetti for the early copy I received, this is my honest review.

WOW. I. LOVED. THIS. BOOK.
The unmistakable chemistry between our main characters is what dreams are made of. The banter is top tier and incredibly funny; I just couldn't put the book down. Steamy, dreamy & a little twisty!

I loved this book so much! The cover and the blurb caught me… but it’s been a while since I’ve thoroughly enjoyed an arc!
Though this book takes place in the present, you’re given some flashbacks and insight into the past of Naomi and Luca and it was done SO SEAMLESSLY, I never got bored or annoyed!!!
Luca and Naomi - WOW THEY WERE MEAN to each other LOL (I guess it’s true when they say little kids are mean to each other when they like each other)!! I felt the chemistry from the start and honestly those letters had me kicking my feet giggling LOL. I was definitely like okay Naomi girl what are you doing with Jake when Luca is here trynna get you to find him!? Then the plot twist (i SUSPECTED it like 30%) came, i was like OKKKKKKK WAIT WHAT?

All in all, I really enjoyed this book! Side note- Anne needs her own book that girl is a hoot LMAO

Marchetti's writing is sharp and witty, infusing each page with humor and heart. Through clever dialogue and vivid characterizations, she brings Annie and Matthew to life, making them feel like old friends whose antics you can't help but root for.

But "Hate Mail" is more than just a comedy of errors; it's a story about love, forgiveness, and the power of second chances. As Annie and Matthew navigate their way through misunderstandings and miscommunications, they discover that sometimes, the most unexpected connections can lead to the greatest rewards.

When I started this, I wasn't quite sure what to expect from it and I actually ended up picking it up in the middle of reading a couple of other books that I wasn't really enjoying and was therefore struggling to get through. I wanted something fun that was relatively easy to read and would make me want to keep reading so I didn't fall into a slump and within a few chapters, I figured I'd found just what I was looking for!

Almost immediately, the letters shared between Naomi and Luca had me giggling away. Sure, I wasn't quite sold on some of the letters being something that kids that young would say to each other as the language didn't quite seem to fit and some of them were just plain nasty, but for the most part they were entertaining!

I was also hooked in pretty quickly by the mystery of who Luca was and where he was! I'll be honest, I did realise pretty quickly who Luca was, and initially this didn't take away from the fun for me, but I did reach a point when I got a little bit frustrated with Naomi and wanted to shake her just a tad! I also got kind of frustrated with Anne, Naomi's bestie. Like, I get that Anne's helping her try to find Luca and is involved in tracking him down but it reached a point where she was getting kind of demanding about Naomi's letters and it actually seemed quite odd that she felt so entitled to read all of them, particularly the more recent ones.

I did find my attention wander a little bit once I'd realised who Luca was and started to get a little frustrated with certain characters, but all in all this was a fun, sweet read with a cute romance and a little bit of spice! I also found it strangely nostalgic because I vividly remember being around the same age as Naomi and Luca at the start of their letters and my school setting us all up with pen pals from an American school! I really related to the excitement of being a kid and someone actually sending you mail for once instead of your parents!

I kept seeing this being promoted on booktok and bookstagram with the quotes and had it on my years TBR list so I was really excited to read this ARC.
I had a fun time and fully think that this should join the booktok romance recommendation lists as it is a fun romacom hitting the tropes but with great characters and a fun plot.
I have already re-read this book and recommend you read it to.

A cute little rom-com for spring, this book is adorable from all sides.
Thanks NetGalley and Publisher!

There's enemies to lovers (friendship ish first) and all the awkward stages in between. Radio silence and not having them get the last word. Its full of heartwarming moments and its light reading which is definitely a pro to this book.

Its addictive and you want to keep reading, knowing that at the end of the book you'll me squealing with joy!

Fab read, the story of Naomi and Luca. Kept you guessing. I liked how it was told from both points of view.

This is a cute and funny romcom story, slightly predictable at times, but none the less a perfectly entertaining debut novel.

I loved Hate Mail. This story is witty, funny and yet at times very emotional. The letters between Naomi Light and her penemy Luca Pichler deliver everything from laugh-out-loud moments to poignant ones when Luca pours into his letters the fury he would have directed at his father. Naomi and Luca are both wonderful characters and even with the mean beginnings of their relationship, I couldn’t help but warm to them both right from the start. I loved that their letters carried on through the years and I loved the angst that Naomi felt over continuing to write to Luca while falling in love with Jake. I don’t want to give this stiry away. Asute readers will work things out easily enough but rest assured, even when you do, there are still plot twists to keep you reading.

This book gave me heard Divine Rivals flashbacks...but so much better. Marchetti laid down the foundation of an adorable love story that lasted over 20 years. We were able to see where this started and how it grew and evolved over the years between the mains. This is a quirky light read and is the perfect book to pick up when you want something that makes you smile. I gave this 3 stars and thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.

this was a really good read! Luca and Naomi had been penpals since primary school but the letters were absolutely hilarious as they were so vile to each other!! I loved this novel way of an enemies to lovers book and found it quite unputdownable! I would highly recommend this read, if reading on holiday be prepared to laugh out loud and have your neighbours on the beach asking to borrow it!

5⭐️3🌶️

Contemporary romance
Pen-pals
Dual POV
Friends to lovers
Banter
Dark humor
Secret identity
Travel
Grief

This was such an adorable romance novel. The cover is really cute. I enjoyed every second of it reading the FMC try to find the MMC. I suspected pretty early on what was going on, but I still loved how the plot rolled out.

The characters were really well flushed out. I really enjoyed the side characters and what they added to the plot.

The pacing was steady. I think the dual POV worked out great for this story.

Banter and dialogue was really good. I really enjoyed the almost enemies to friends to lovers pipeline that this book followed. The dark humor involved was right up my alley and made me laugh out loud.

Thank you NetGalley and Harper Collins UK, One More Chapter for an eARC of this book. All opinions are my own

Hate Mail was a good, fun read!
I enjoyed the long game with this romance. I love reading the character growth in such romances! I also was not expecting the twist (won’t give spoilers, promise)
The premise of the book was that Naomi and Luca are penpals from year 5 at school. However, their letters to each other are far from friendly! They build this teasing relationship through their letters and continue this right through to adulthood.
It’s been two years of no contact until Luca gets back in touch with Naomi and the investigation begins to track Luca down. Both have so many emotions tied to this pen pal relationship, they know each other like no one else does. It is very fun to follow along with Naomi’s investigation and how they grow from just pen pals to something more.
I do wish that we got more equal split of the double narration. I would have just loved to see deeper inside Luca’s head and his feelings navigating through

p.s. The book did mention some sensitive subjects (not in detail) but trigger warnings for death of parent.

3.5⭐️

This is a cute read, with a little snark thrown in in the form of hate mail. 'Penemies' to lovers, Naomi & Luca have written horrible letters to each other since 5th grade. They lost touch a few years ago, but now Luca has started their wicked writing back up, but with no return address.

This is a fun read, but I was frustrated to guess the 'twists' from the outset. The letters were funny &, for me, the highlight of the read. There were laugh out loud moments & one tearful chapter which I loved (I'm a sucker for crying at books 🤣). I'd be tempted to say this was a YA read & there was something that just missed the mark for me.

I really wanted to love the book, but I figured out the plot twist really early on and it kind of felt juvenile to me.
It wasn't that interesting from that point on so I just skimmed through it in hopes it will get better, but sadly, not much has changed.

On the other hand I think the book is cute for someone younger, and the characters are well written. :)
