Falling for Alaska is a sweet romance. Grandmother of 3 young men has an Alaskan business (manufacturing ciders), but she has a terminal disease. She creates a situation where the grandsons need to come back to Moose Falls, Alaska for a year and decide whether they will inherit and run or sell the business. Of course that means working with the grandmother's only son (who has been the non-existent father for decades since a divorce).
Xavier is the oldest grandson; he was a football star, recently injured and is now observing the NFL from a distance. Xavier had a very public breakup recently.
I can't tell you the number of times my mind envisioned Xavier as Travis Kelce; although I'm sure that author Belle Calhoune (author of an astounding 40 novels ... where have i been??) had this novel finished before the TK’s romance with Tay-Tay stole so much media attention.
So this was definitely a Hallmark romance; I wish I had picked up some tidbit of information from Falling for Alaska that I didn’t know. Such as incorporating some manufacturing concerns that likely come up with a cider manufacturing business.
Thank you to NetGalley, especially for introducing me (yet once again) to an established, but new to me, author. Belle Calhoune. Thank you to NetGalley and publisher Forever (Grand Central Publishing), for approving my request to read the advance copy of Falling for Alaska in exchange for an honest review. publication date is 26 Mar 2024.
I want to express my gratitude to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this advanced copy.
"Falling For Alaska" by Bella Calhoune is a captivating love story set against the stunning landscape of Alaska. From the very first page, I was completely engrossed in this 5-star read. The characters, particularly the main characters True Everett and Xavier Stone, were genuinely endearing, lovable, and relatable. Their chemistry and sensitivity towards each other made the novel a joy to read. I eagerly anticipate its release on March 26th, 2024, and I hope others enjoy it as much as I did.
Falling for Alaska...
I did enjoy this cute story. I am a fan of enemies to lovers trope. It is one of my favorites. I did like True and Xavier but to me there was something slightly off. I also loved Jaylen. True and Jaylen had a wonderful relationship and that to me was wonderful. I felt Xavier was kind of hard to like at times.
I do love an Alaska story. There is something about Alaska and a romance book I enjoy.
I did enjoy this story and I would recommend it.
A sweet love story. Lots of family issues. Captivating couple. I am so happy to see that this is the first of a series. I am eager to read of the remaining two brothers search for their significant others. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.
Xavier and True both got on my nerves. I loved the whole concept of this story but the execution was way off.
Things i liked:
- I loved that the story took place in Alaska.
-The whole enemies to lovers trope.
- Xavier's Grandma was a hoot
Things I didn't like
- Xavier i thought his character was extremely annoying
- True just seemed very up tight and not like i thought she would be.
- the story line in general.
Take my review with a grain of salt, Falling for Alaska just wasn't for me but all in all it was a good book.

Falling for Alaska is a sweet romance. I loved the setting of Alaska and the love story. A well written story and it was a quick read for me.
This was a sweet romance set in Alaska with likeable characters. Why didn't I give it a higher rating? It was pretty forgettable. I had no urge to keeping reading and would go days without picking it up. That being said, if there are future books in this universe (our hero has two brothers), I would give the next one a try.
Just a couple of comments about the synopsis. True isn't a restaurant owner. And I wouldn't categorize this book as "enemies-to-lovers".
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Forever (Grand Central Publishing) through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you, Forever (Grand Central Publishing).
Thank you netgalley and the publishers for letting me read this advanced copy!
Falling For Alaska by Bella Calhoune is a beautiful love story surrounding the beautiful state and breathtaking landscape scenery of Alaska. This was a 5 star read that had me hooked from the very first page. I really liked the characters throughout this book. The female main character True Everett is lovable, caring and hard working, alongside the male main character Xavier Stone who is a famous football player caring and protective. They are both also sensitive especially when it comes to one another. I loved reading this novel, the chemistry was amazing as well as lovable. I can't wait until people can read it and enjoy it as much as I have. It comes out March 26th 2024.
I received a copy of this story from Netgalley for a honest review.
True Everett lives in Moose Falls Alaska where she runs Northern Exposure restaurant and takes care of her brother after her parents died. Xavier Stone has come back to Alaska with his two brothers to inherit his grandmother Cider Company. These two hit it off pretty much from the start, but issues from their past makes them question whether they are ready for each other. Overall an enjoyable few hours of escaping to Alaska and getting to know True and Xavier.
Falling for Alaska was a cute book about forgiveness, family, and falling in love. While it wasn't crazy intense, it was a fun time in an Alaskan small town with some loveable characters.
Falling for Alaska is a well written romance. I loved the Alaskan setting. Good plot and character dynamics.. my thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my advance ebook. This is my unbiased review.
I fancy stories set in beautiful Alaska, and Falling for Alaska is no exception.
True Everett dreams of owning Moose Falls’ small restaurant, Northern Exposure. She is ambitious, feisty and her heart is in it, but there is one potential road block, the impossibly handsome Xavier Stone.
Having recently arrived in Moose Falls, Xavier and his two brothers were requested by their grandmother to help her run the family businesses. Xavier does not want to confront his childhood memories, nor his estranged father and is eager to return to Arizona. However, Xavier must entertain his grandmother’s request plus, he has his eye on the restaurant’s stunning manager.
What to make of these new feelings and the fate of the restaurant?
Follow along as these two get to know one another and reveal their true selves. I enjoyed the banter between Xavier and True, the small town feel and Alaska’s rugged setting. I look forward to the sequel.
Thanks to Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for providing me with an e-ARC of this via Netgalley.
I love this phrase Caleb ans women went together like a Super Bowl party and Nachos.. I had to grin at that one.
I loved the setting of Alaska in this sweet book.
I also learned a lot about Cider and the many different flavors that can come from it.
The opening scene made me laugh out loud even though it wasn't really funny but Xavier's haughty attitude deserved it hehehe.
The cover of this book is what made me want to read and discover what Alaska was about and like. I loved every minute of this book.
I couldn't put the story down and it seems as though it is told by multiple people or each character.
It still flowed smoothly in my opinion a d was a delightful and fun read.
5 stars for a fun adventure and laugh out loud story that I highly recommend.
My thanks to Netgalley and Harliquen Trade for a copy of this book.
Wholesome story with winter vibes. I enjoyed being in the world of Moose Falls.
Not truly enemies to lovers, but still a nice love story nevertheless.
Wish the backstory was dove into more— I thought the prologue was a great place to start, and I felt that the conflicts resolved more on their own than with character dialogue and storytelling progressing it.
Pacing was super quick at the end. There was a conflict that resolved in the matter of a few pages, while the rest of the book just seemed like a day to day feel.
This was a sweet slow romance that had a happy ending.
True Everett is raising her brother after her parents die. She runs the local tavern, Northern Exposure in Moose Falls, Alaska. She meets Xavier Stone, a former NFL football player back in town with his three brothers to take over his grandmother’s hard cider business. When the two meet, there are sparks that slowly turn to romance. Can these two get past their romantic hurts to fall in love?
I loved the descriptions of Moose Falls and the people in this cute town. The main characters were likable and I was rooting for love to prevail. The story of overcoming loss and past hurts resonated for all of us.
Thank you to NetGalley, Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and the author for the e-ARC. The book will be released on March 26, 2024.
BOOK REVIEW:
Falling for Alaska
by #bellecalhoune
This was such a fun sweet read I really enjoyed it a lot it was such a fun small town read.
I loved this book! I was hooked from the very beginning, and I had to find out how it would end!
The characters are wonderful! They're relatable and easy to like! Xavier had my heart from the very first sentence! He's a protector, sensitive and caring! True is a superstar! She's a nurturer, loving and a hard worker! Hattie is a hoot! Full of character even though she's going through a tough time.
The setting of Alaska is breathtaking! The imagery brings the mountains to life!
This is the first book I've read by Belle Calhoun, but it won't be the last!
I was provided a copy of the book from the publisher Forever Hachette Book Group via Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Falling for Alaska is book one in the brand new series Moose Falls, Alaska by Belle Calhoun.
This new series by Belle Calhoun is filled with entertaining characters, a delightful small town and a wonderful story.
The characters were well defined and I wanted to keep reading their story.
I love how she makes you part of the book by getting me emotionally involved with her characters.
This book is well written and a very quick read. I enjoyed it and read it pretty quickly.
A sweet small-town romance story and I can’t wait to go back to Moose Falls.
Thank You NetGalley and Forever for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!
I loved my first trip to Moose Falls and can't wait to go back! Author Belle Calhoune did a wonderful job of describing the characters and settings that it was easy to relate to the characters and imagine being there. I loved True and Xavier's story and can't wait to read Caleb and Landon's stories in the future. The other secondary characters like Jayden, Hattie, Bonnie, Jacques, and Red were also great. I received an ARC of this book through NetGalley but was not required to leave a positive review. All opinions are my own.
Former pro-football player Xavier Stone is once again asked to make a tough call–to return to his childhood hometown in Alaska to help run his grandmother's companies. He and his brothers have not been back since their parents' divorce twenty years ago, and haven't been in contact with any family there for almost as long.
Between working with his estranged father and confronting difficult childhood memories, can Xavier find peace in Alaska? Perhaps even love?
Falling for Alaska is a sweet, small town romance centralized around family. If you are a fan of Hallmark movies, this one is for you!
My notes:
• I don't think it should be called enemies to lovers.
• True isn't the restaurant owner, she manages the pub/tavern/restaurant (it's referred to all of those in the synopsis, which could be confusing.)
Thank you, Forever, for the ARC!
