Love this series of Detective Michael Bennett and his family. Michael has been called out to a third sniper shooting. With no commonality between the victims, Michael realizes he needs help with his investigation. The FBI loans Rob Trilling, an expert in sniper shootings to the police department. But the temporary partnership does not always go smoothly, putting Rob under the scrutiny of Michael and what is he up to when he disappears.
The addition of the shenanigans and just plain fun of Michael’s family is always entertaining and adds a lighter twist to this mystery. Thank you Netgalley and Little Brown & Co. Publishers for any early copy. This review is my honest opinion.
Michael Bennett finds himself trying to find a sniper who has been killing people in NYC. He gets a new partner, Rob Trilling, who is young and doesn't speak much at all. He hopes he can help him find out who is doing this and why. Rob does what he feels he needs to do and doesn't feel it necessary to share everything in his life. When more evidence comes to light, things seem to be leading Michael Bennett to a conclusion that he doesn't want to have. I will say that I felt Rob was given very little support at points. I don't think Michael Bennett would have been understanding if the roles had been reversed. It seemed like Rob was right in his assessment that NYPD doesn't really care about their policies or how they impact those that work for them. Michael did do a good job of trying to find out how the cases were connected and then followed leads to find out why these people were killed. I felt he could have achieved the same result without going through as much as he did. The Bennett family itself was its usual joy. Was glad that Rob finally started to open up and let some of his personality show through. I did enjoy this book and am looking forward to the next one.
I haven’t read the whole Michael Bennet series but now I have to. If you haven’t read the prior books you won’t feel lost. The story line is so layered, when you think you’ve figured it out there is another twist. But the family pieces are the most engaging and real! Def recommend if you want a well rounded thriller with action and bits of life sprinkled in.
Crosshairs is a fast paced thriller that has Michael Bennett and his new partner Rob Trilling chasing down a sharp shooter that is leaving body after body in his wake.
Circumstances have Michael doubting his new partner. Could he be the one they are searching for.
The pace is fast with twists and turns and just when you think you solved the case before Bennett along comes a twist that changes everything.
I als0 love reuniting with the Bennett family and catching up.
James Patterson and James O. Born leave you wanting more of Michael Bennett and I cant wait for the next book in the series.
Thanks to NetGalley and Little Brown and Company for a thrilling read.
Thank you to #NetGalley, Little Brown & Company and James Patterson and James O. Born for the opportunity to read a copy of Crosshairs, to be published 12 February 2024. 5/5 Stars for this super fantastic rendition of a Michael Bennett psychological thriller. Reading these authors is extremely comfortable -- it's like going home after a long time away -- it just feels good and right. This novel put Michael Bennett in a situation with a new, young Army Ranger as a partner. The ups and downs throughout the book were spectacular and the finale was a real winner. Cannot say enough about how good this novel was! Great read. Highly recommended for all James Patterson and Michael Bennett fans! #NetGalley #LittleBrown&Company #JamesPatterson #JamesO.Born #Crosshairs
I have to say I always enjoythe Michael Bennett books - not just for the mystery and suspense but for the background story of their wild and crazy (and big!) family. This book finds Bennett with a new partner who makes him question a lot of things - and if I'm being honest he kept me on my toes as well! A great thriller with plenty of action, twists and drama to keep you turning the pages!
Michael Bennett is taking on a sniper that is randomly shooting New Yorkers. He has a new partner, a former Ranger that could also be a suspect. A good read but not my favorite Bennett novel.
I’ve read every book in this series and this was one of my favorites so far! I enjoyed the new characters, love following along with Bennett’s family, and found the mystery exciting! Definitely recommend for an exciting but family-oriented crime series!
There have been three seemingly unrelated sniper killings in New York City by the press named “Longshot Killer.” Detective Michael Bennett is assigned to the case and joined by a new partner. Rob Trilling is only 24 but has already seen action as a decorated Army Ranger in Afghanistan and served on an FBI fugitive task force. Rob is a sniper and good at his job. He’s also taciturn, loyal and dedicated to his work. However, the fact that he fits the profile of the Longshot Killer causes suspicion. Mike realizes he has to find the real killer quickly before his new partner is charged with crimes Mike believes Rob would never commit. Mike has to find a link between the victims and prove Rob’s innocence before there is another killing
If you are looking for a fast paced plot, well described characters, snappy dialogue and a gritty location, Crosshairs, the latest in the Michael Bennett series, is for you. James Patterson has delivered another bestseller. 5 stars.
Thank you to NetGalley, Little Brown and Company, James Patterson and James O. Born for this ARC.
Another great storyline in this series. The book was filled with much mystery and suspense which kept the reader wanting more and more. A good storyline with good character development is what you will find in this book.
Oh, I love Michael Bennett and his great big family! Always such a good thriller, but with love and hope always sprinkled through. It's a family that you would just want to be a part of. Another great installment of the series and a continuation of the Bennett family story!
Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for allowing me to read this ARC.
The Long Shot killer has got MB on his toes trying to figure who the culprit is. He has suspicions it’s his new partner Rob. MB will try any and everything to put this killer behind bars.
Patterson makes Det Michael Bennett a gold star hit again.
Bennette is called to investigate the murder of a wealthy Manhattan businessman.
who was apparently shot by a sniper while he stood on his balcony.
It becomes a possible serial sniper case as other killings precede and follow.
A former FBI and now NYPD ESU officer, Rob Trilling is assigned to work with
Bennett because of his sniper experience and training.
And the story takes off in the usual exciting and thrilling style that only Patterson
and his cowriters can offer with NYC as the backdrop.
Great story plotting with well-defined locales and characters that are familiar in
revisiting and intriguing in introductions.
Just when you think you have it figured out...be prepared.
You probably didn't.
Just another great Michael Bennett adventure.
Next, please.
Thank you to @netgalley and @LittleBrownandCompany for this ARC. Another Michael Bennett thriller but this time he has a new partner, a young kid fresh from military duty. When the homicides from a sniper start adding up, his new partner starts looking more and more guilty. Not sure how I got so lucky for @JamesPatterson to find me worthy of his new reads but here we are. Not only have I been a long time fan of Michael Bennett, I also love the fresh new characters he has added. #Crosshairs #JamesPatterson #LittleBrownandCompany #Feb2024
James Patterson doesn't disappoint with this newest Michael Bennett thriller.
Bennett gets a new, young partner, Rob Trilling who used to be in the service. They both have a different style and approach with their work ethic. There is a sniper on the loose, which just happens to be what Trilling's specialty was in his former career. Bennett 's gut is telling him who it is, but he doesn't want to believe it.
We also get updates on his large family and Mary Catherine's fertility journey. They already have ten kids, so what's one more!!
Good, but a little repetitive
I liked this book enough that I listened to earlier books in the series when i couldn't read the e-book. I listened to books one and two, I enjoyed all three books and this was my favorite. But the villains all had the same motive, Perhaps if I hadn't read them all in the span of a few days it wouldn't have been as apparent. But, it was a good book and I did enjoy it. I am moving on to book three of the series and will likely continue until I get to this latest Michael Bennet installment.
I'm never disappointed in a Michael Bennett story. It's great to see the family grow and change as he solves murders. Quick and entertaining read.
Thank you NetGalley and Little Brown for the chance to read this upcoming release and offer my thoughts.
I’ve long been a fan of James Patterson, although I now read only the two series - The Women’s Murder Club and Det. Michael Bennett. His stand alone books generally aren’t for me any longer. Certainly for others.
This was classic Bennett. A great time-sensitive thriller and a lot of his family thrown in for a little work-life struggle. Bennett tussles with this case as his suspects include a possible inside man, a veteran or maybe a woman. Even his older daughter plays a bigger role in the drama.
As always, Bennett puts in the hours, calls upon friends and solves the case. Could it end any other way? These are still my favorite Patterson, and now Born, books. Great characters and lots of action. It’s a can’t miss combination!
I had not read a Michael Bennett featured novel in some time. I truly enjoyed this book. It was nice to catch up with the Bennett family. The novel itself kept me on my toes. There were several twists that I did not see coming. As always, the character development was on point. I couldn't put it down. Thank you to NetGalley for this arc copy.
James Patterson and James O. Born make a killer duo in this breathtakingly suspenseful thriller that’ll have you thinking in overdrive. With a fast-paced narrative and excellent characters developed to the fullest, it’s an incredible thriller where you’re not sure if you can even trust the good guys.
