This was a super cute and quick read. The bedroom scenes are closed door, so that was a disappointment. But otherwise, I really liked the book. Of course, I'm a sucker for a cute kid and this one comes with an adorable little girl.

Annie is from old money and she's agreed to marry a guy she doesn't like in exchange for that guy's family merging with her father's failing company. She decides to flee for a break the day following that engagement and ends up in a dive bar called The Drowned Rat. She proceeds to get really drunk, along with Ian, her bar mate, and they end up getting married. The judge denies an annulment and decides they need to live together for the next 30 days and then he'll annul the marriage if they still want to part ways.

I just loved Annie and Ian together. Ian was a grump sometimes and broody, but Annie at least got him to smile and loosen up. He came out of his hole and actually became a productive member of society again. And Annie learned to shed her socialite ways and bring herself down to the common folk level. And she actually fit in and made the effort to change. I mean it was pretty hilarious to see her attempts at doing normal things like washing clothes or cooking eggs.

In the end, they get their HEA and their big blowup is brief. I've never read an Anna Banks book, but I'll definitely give another one a try when I need an easy read.

I got offered to read this e-arc by Brittany at Entangled publishing. I think the book is great. I loved the main characters "Annie" and "Ian", their chemistry together was so fun to read. Their ability to work together, and through the ups and downs of domestic life were hysterical!
While the book is predictable (it's a romance after all) the plot and dialogue is fantastic. Anna Banks created such a fun read that will fill your soul with happiness.

The tequila burned as it ran down her throat, but she welcomed the pain. Anything to make her feel an ounce of something that wasn’t annoyance. She looked around the bar, the wood and metal creating an aesthetic she didn’t normally go for, but it was different and right now she needed different… including the man who just walked in.

The Cinderella Reversal is a romcom following Annabella who is engaged to a man she doesn’t love, all for the benefit of her father’s business. You also follow Ian, the lawyer in the small town Annabella stumbled into. When they accidentally end up married after tequila shots at the local bar… they find themselves in a predicament.

While the premise of this is cute, I couldn’t get past the knowledge of Annabella being engaged to another man while being with Ian. I don’t care that she didn’t love her fiancé… it’s still cheating. If she could have stumbled into this small town without someone else in her life, it would have made this romcom so much more enjoyable for me.

Read if you’re a forced proximity/small town romance fan and don’t mind the cheating aspect.

This story is really sweet and a lovely retelling of the Cinderella story.
I enjoyed the romance between the two main characters. They were really adorable together with plenty of sweet moments. This is a clean romance but the romance blossoms without any explicit scenes. I really loved them co-habituating. I thought it created a lot of tension and fun moments between the two.
Definitely recommend if you like sweet romances.

This story is in one word, heartwarming. I'm not sure exactly why, but I had lower expectations going into this story than I normally would, possibly because I've got such an affinity for illustrated covers these days, but this story surprised me in a good way!

Annie (I wouldn't dare call her anything else) is an adorable FMC. Her decisions might make her seem like a pushover, but in reality, she's strong-willed and practical. Born with a silver spoon in her mouth, she should be someone who takes certain things for granted, but it's clear that there's not much that she won't do for the people that she cares about.

Ian is the man that Annie never saw coming. What's supposed to conclude in a reckless night winds up being a drunken marriage that the local judge, the elusive Harry, refuses to grant an annulment for. He orders them to cohabitate for 30 days before he can make a decision. We find out later in the story why he sets the deadline for 30 days, and let me tell you, it's such a beautiful sentiment.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention Maggie. I've said this time and time again, but the single parent trope is not something that I typically seek out. But, this is one story where the daughter of the MMC played a significant role in furthering the plot. Maggie's bond with Annie was so heartwarming and sweet, and I loved reading about the two of them. What's even more significant is the fact that Ian's ex-wife, Tonya, a.k.a. Maggie's mom is the one who ultimately speaks sense to Ian and helps him realize his feelings for Annie.

There are many characters that will make you mad, e.g. "Asshat-Tucker", the three-first-names future MIL and for the most part, even Annie's father. Their selfish choices impact Annie's life so deeply, and yet, they're integral to the development of her character.

Rich socialite Bella has decided to marry in order to save her father’s business, but before the big day she travels to a remote little town to get drunk and forget about her upcoming nuptials and the life ahead. She meets Ian, a single father, and the next day they find out they married each other! Ian is a lawyer so they try to get the marriage annulled, but the judge orders them to stay married for thirty days before he grants them an annulment. So Annie (Ian calls her Annie) moves in with Ian and plays house with Ian and his daughter Maggie, who comes to visit him a few days in the week.
The story moves very quickly. Bella/Annie and Ian also hook up quickly, but there are no explicit sex scenes, instead it is left to the imagination of the reader. Before you know it, the story wraps up as expected. A nice light read about a famous woman with a wealthy lifestyle experiencing the simple life, and loving it. Ian goes off to work and Bella/Annie stays home to cook, clean and be a housewife. A real Cinderella reversal!
