Wonderful start to a new trilogy. Sonya MacTavish has just inherited from an unknown uncle a mansion, but that is only the start of the mystery. Her father was a twin and separated at birth from his brother, but why she wonders. Her uncle will left her not only with the mansion but funds for the upkeep, mysteries and a few ghosts, with the stipulation that she needs to live there 3 years.
Trey who was a friend and lawyer of the deceased Collin Poole shows Sonya around the place and admits that it is haunted and the mansion nickname is the Lost Brides. The name was given due to all the brides that died on their wedding day, including her uncle’s bride. As Sonya settles in little unexplained things happen, some good, a few annoying and some scary but she isn’t going to let the ghosts drive her out of her home.
The story has the typical magic that draws in throughout the book. Parts reminded me of the show Ghosts, which I love. And as with the majority of Nora’s trilogy, the story continues with a cliffhanger. I just hope book 2 will release soon. I switched back and forth between book and audiobook and reread or relistened to parts in the audiobook. The narrator was fantastic, but with the book was easier to backtrack when needed. Thank you NetGalley for this eARC. I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story. #NetGalley #Inheritance #StMartinPress #MacmillanAudio #TheLostBrideTrilogy #NoraRoberts

This was my first Nora Roberts book and I loved it. This book hooked me in and I cannot wait to read the next 2. Inheritance was super spooky and mysterious with a little love story tied in. That cliff hanger though!!
Thank you NetGalley and St, Martins press and Macmillan Audio for the opportunity to listen to this book.

I absolutely loved this book and cannot wait for the rest of the series. The ghostly paranormal aspect in this book is what you would expect from Nora Roberts. She creates stories that are relatable that hook you right from the start. It's a little gothic, a little scary at some parts, but the majority of the book is light and happy. The ending was amazing as well, and really left me wanting the next book right away. I won't rehash the synopsis as you can read the blurb and the summary from all the other reviewers. I will say that the audio book had me glued to my seat wanting to take it all in. I finished this in record time because I just kept wanting to come back to the story. Nora Roberts has done it again and I will forever be a fan of her work.

Inheritance, the first book in The Lost Bride Trilogy by Nora Roberts, is a novel that offers a unique blend of romance, friendship, and a touch of the paranormal. While the paranormal aspect may not appeal to all readers, it does add an intriguing layer to the narrative that sets it apart from typical romance novels.
I am personally not one to read books like this and quite honestly - if I saw this book on the shelf without Nora Roberts name attached to it - I would probably pass it by. I am a fan of Roberts writing and find that her ability to cross genres is quite impressive.
The characters in Inheritance are one of its strongest aspects. Roberts has a knack for creating characters that are complex, relatable, and engaging. The friendship between Sonya and Cleo is particularly noteworthy. Their bond is genuine and heartwarming, providing a solid emotional anchor throughout the story. Their interactions are filled with warmth, humor, and a deep understanding of each other, making their friendship one of the most enjoyable aspects of the book.
The romance between Sonya and Trey, however, feels somewhat rushed. Their relationship progresses quickly, with little build-up or development. One moment they are strangers, and the next they are a couple. This rapid progression may leave some readers feeling a bit disoriented and wishing for more time to explore their relationship.
Despite this, the romance is still enjoyable. While their relationship may have benefited from a slower pace, their romance is still a key part of the story that many readers will enjoy.
Inheritance is a quick and easy read, making it a great choice for audiobook listeners. I found the audiobook to be engaging, thanks in no small part to Brittany Presley's superb narration. She is a favorite narrator who it is always a pleasure to listen to.
I don't actually feel like a lot of exciting things happened in Inheritance. To me it was more character building and learning to live with the ghosts who haunt the manor Sonya inherits. I wouldn't mind having "Molly" who leaves Sonya's kitchen and bedroom in immaculate condition! I do feel like the book started to get intriguing about the 85% or so mark and then - ugh - it leaves you with such a cliffhanger. I don't know when Book 2 of this trilogy will be released. I also should note that the cover of this novel is quite stunning.
Thank you for the advanced audiobook in exchange for my honest review. I think I'll go with 3 1/2 stars for this one.

Wow! I had no idea what I was in store for when I started Inheritance. I have never read a Nora Roberts book before, and now I wish I wouldn't have waited so long.
After discovering her husband-to-be is having an affair and that her father's twin brother has left her his estate, Sonya finds herself moving to Maine to start over. Little does she know, she won't be alone. Her cursed Victorian manor is full of ghosts from the estate's despairing past, and they refuse to be silent.
Inheritance has the feel of a contemporary romance or a slice-of-life women's fiction, with a historical, gothic mystery/ghost story lurking at the edges. I enjoyed the narrative structure, and it hooked me from the start. Some readers will find the plot lacking or slow-moving, but the back third raises the stakes and had me on the edge of my seat.
One of my favorite parts of this Inheritance was how feminist it was without being heavy-handed. I found the female-forward story refreshing. The relationships were fantastic, free of catty women and mother-daughter drama. The best friend character was chef's kiss. I adored the ghosts. The way they communicated with Sonya was perfect.
If I have any complaints, it is with the romance, despite adoring the love interest. While they didn't lack complete chemistry, they felt more like great friends than lovers.
I found the mystery compelling and cannot wait to learn more as the trilogy continues. I will note for those who hate cliffhangers, proceed with caution. Even though I saw this one coming, I am still disappointed I have to wait a year to return to this world.
I did this on audio, and Brittney Pressley did fantastic, as always. She is becoming one of my favorite narrators.
Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I entered the Nora Robert’s fan party late. I read my first by her this summer. Now I’m a huge fan. This newest book did not disappoint. The characters of Sonya, Collin, Cleo and lost brides house and the rest of them captured my heart. The narration was excellent. I can’t wait to read the next book in the trilogy. That’s my only
Complaint. I now have to wait.

This was the first Nora Roberts book that I’ve read, and thank goodness, because it was starting to feel like I was the only person in the bookish community (who reads romance) that hasn’t read one of her books!
We get a few different perspectives in the story, and it takes place in various time periods. The story begins in 1806, with Astrid Poole on her wedding day. But things go wrong, and the day ends in tragedy. But then it jumps to the present day, when Sonya MacTavish is going through an entire overhaul of her life, and a move to Maine to live in a house she just inherited, with the stipulation that she live there for three years, sounds like a great idea.
The first thing I noticed in this story was the way that Roberts builds these characters that are so well-developed that they feel like real people. Even the side characters are realistic, and I loved the way they all interacted with each other. The relationship between Sonya and Cleo, her best friend, was so positive and supportive. Sonya and Trey, the lawyer, have great chemistry right from the start, and both of them are such dog lovers, that I couldn’t help but love them both. Even the dogs have personalities and play their parts in the story.
Once I was invested in the characters, the paranormal stuff started appearing. It was worked into the story so well, and I really liked how it was done. It showed both the good and the bad sides of haunted houses, with both benevolent and malevolent spirits inhabiting the house. I liked the way that Roberts utilized humor frequently through the paranormal aspects of the story, giving the spirits plenty of personality of their own.
Overall, this was a fantastic story. As an audiobook, Brittany Presley is a fantastic narrator, making a great story even more enjoyable. I loved the romance between Sonya and Trey, watching it develop slowly and believably, and it kept me invested in between interludes of figuring out more about the lost brides. There’s plenty of plot twists that I never saw coming, although there’s a lot of action that occurs at the end of the story, leaving me desperate for the next book. Just be prepared for a heck of a cliffhanger ending.

Anyone else surprised by the content of this Nora Roberts book?! This is so different than what she usually writes. Romance? Yeah, that's the same. Good writing? That's the same too. A cozy, small town romance equipped with GHOSTS that span over decades with a cliffhanger that makes you want to scream and curse the author?? Yeah that's new for her.
Having said that, I LOVED Inheritance. It's one of my favorite reads this year so far. I listened to the audio and read when I couldn't listen. The foreword by Nora herself made the story all that much more interesting to me. The narrator was really good and enthusiastic. I liked listening to it more than most.
Sonya is ready for her next chapter when a gothic, family owned mansion is dropped in her lap due to an uncle she didn't even know existed leaving it to her as an inheritance. There she finds that she's not alone in the home, or in life when a certain handsome man comes around.
I can't say enough good things about this and have already told so many people they need to scoop this book when it comes out. It's so so so good.
Thank you to Netgalley, Nora Roberts and MacMillen Audio for the chance to read this ARC. This opinion is mine alone and not promised to anyone for an advanced read.
BUY THIS BOOK. You wont regret it.

4.5⭐️
I love it! The perfect start to the series!
If you're looking for a book with:
• ghosts
• slow burn
• small town
• murder mystery
• fantasy/paranormal romance
Please give this one a shot, it's totally worth it!

I knew this title was the first in a trilogy but didn't expect such a Cliff Hanger! Sure hope Nora Roberts is planning on releasing the other 2 books in quick succession as this has been a fun haunted house book. Solve the mystery and of course, in typical NR fashion, beautiful people and perfect love match(es). Brittney Pressley does a fabulous job narrating and giving each character a distinct voice/accent. Thank you to Net Galley and MacMillan Audio for the opportunity to listen to this ARC

Nora Roberts is the master of romance writing and her newest book doesn’t disappoint. Inheritance, the first book in a new trilogy, tells the story of a haunted manor in Maine that Sonya inherits at the perfect time in her life, when she is met with a challenge about where to turn in a life she thought she knew. Once at the manor, she encounters some really lovely people, both dead and alive. But not everyone is friendly and there is a dark presence for Sonya to navigate. Of course, being a Nora Roberts novel, there is an element of romance with Trey, a local resident and attorney that Sonya meets and comes to care for.
As with any book that is part of a Nora Roberts trilogy, there is a cliffhanger that will leave you reeling! To wait more than a year for the next book is going to be awful, as I want to know what happens right now! This book did not disappoint and I will be waiting (im) patiently for the next in the trilogy.
I had the opportunity to listen to an audiobook of this title and I loved every second of it! The narrator kept me engaged and I felt like I was with the characters as the story took place. Her voice was rich, warm, and inviting.
Being able to hear a story allows me to not rush ahead to find out what happens next. As with other audiobooks, I was able to get lost in the story and a big part of that is due to the narration. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an advance audio copy of this book. I’ve been sucked in and can’t wait to see what happens next!

I adored this book so much. It is reminiscent of Dragon Heart Legacy. I'm envious of the protagonists ability to fully hyper focus on her work. I love Cleo, but I felt like she is a puppy on a leash. Whenever Sonya calls, Cleo comes running. I understand best friends and all, but Sonya kind of pushes and pulls Cleo around. She calls Cleo and has her come over right away. She has Cleo visit the manor, and has her move in. Or maybe Cleo is bi and secretly loves Sonya. Cleo seems like such a strong amazing character, but she bows down to Sonya too much. I cannot wait for book 2.

Inheritance is your classic feel-good Nora Roberts book and a great beginning to the trilogy .The characters are great and I love the idiosyncrasies of the town and it's inhabitants. I will definitely consider keeping tabs on the rest of the series and following the next adventure.

Oh my, what a great story. Nora Roberts knows how to pull her readers into the tale from the first page.
I could not turn off the audiobook. I knew each page could introduce potential harm to Sonya, and I worried when Hester Dobbs made her presence known. Inheritance is an entertaining nail-biter. Nora makes the story amusing, atmospheric, and thoroughly entertaining from start to finish. Now I need the next book to see what else will happen at the Manor and see if more sparks fly for other characters in the story. I'm so grateful that Nora Roberts is a prolific writer. I am confident that she won't make me wait long.
Britany Preston is the narrator, and what a good, strong voice actor she is. Each character, ghosts, and all are easily recognizable from her narration. Britany Preston's skills make it so easy to get caught up in the relationships, suspense, and atmosphere of the town and the Manor. I love her.

A wonderful combination of community, romance, friendship, and intrigue. Nora Roberts has again crafted a story that you won’t want to put down.

This book held me from the beginning till the end!
After Sonya MacTavish walks in on her fiance that she wasn't sure she loved anyways sleeping with her cousin her life takes an unexpected turn. A few weeks after the breakup she receives a visitor to inform her she has inherited the Poole family birth right, a whole estate with a trust to support said estate from her deceased fathers twin brother that neither her or her mother knew existed! 😮
Could you live with ghosts? As Sonya navigates taking over the estate we learn the true history of the lost brides, secrets, love loss and devastation the house holds.
Each Bride lost has a story to tell, or at least tries to tell it to Sonya. Are they helping her, or do they want to hurt her?
This was a great first book of ghostly, mystery and love story. Already eager to see where book 2 brings us and have some of the secrets revealed👰 ❤

Left me with a cliffhanger! I typically want to know all the information at once but I enjoyed the little information that was given and look forward to more.
The relationships between the women! I’m here for it, Roberts portrayed it so good!
The slow burn is where it’s at! I’ve read so many books lately where they jump right into it, and it was so refreshing to have that slow burn again.
I just want to thank NetGalley for sharing with me a free early release copy.

After, probably thankfully, discovering her fiancée has been cheating on her, Sonya MacTavish is thrown for another loop when she finds out her father had a twin brother he never knew about. Not only that, but her newly discovered uncle, Collin Poole, has left her everything in his will including the Poole family house - a beautiful Victorian manor on the coast of Maine. With her life already turned upside down by the cancellation of her impending wedding, Sonya takes this as an opportunity for a much needed change and to learn more about the family she never knew she had.
However, there's a catch. Sonya must live in the house for three years which may be difficult considering the house has some very interesting inhabitants. Namely, former generations of Poole brides who have all met a tragic death. Luckily, Sonya is not completely on her own. Her best friend Cleo and local lawyer (and Poole family friend) Trey are close at hand to help Sonya unravel the mysterious curse of the Lost Brides.
It's almost silly to review a Nora Roberts book at this point. Lady knows what she's doing with a story and even if some of the storylines feel repetitive to her previous books it's the fact that she's written so many and, truly, there are only so many tropes to go around.
One thing I've noticed in her more recent books is the clipped aspect to the dialogue or inner thoughts of the characters. Very precise and to the point. There's not a lot of flowery descriptors. I don't know if others have noticed this, but reading it is a bit strange for me. So when I had an opportunity to listen to the audiobook, I discovered that this is precisely the medium that works with it. Almost like Nora Roberts is writing for the performance aspect and less for the reading aspect. I don't know if this is true or not, just my opinion. I thought that Brittany Pressley carried the story wonderfully. She really gave voice - and life - to so many characters and did a great job making each distinct. She really knows how to bring out the lighter moments mixed with the spookier parts as well.
Inheritance follows in the same vein of other newer Nora Roberts trilogies in that there's some kind of supernatural aspect running throughout. This time it's ghosts. Specifically ghosts of the cursed brides of the Poole family. I do like the idea of a haunted house and that house being haunted by the family that came before. If you think about it, aren't all houses haunted? If not literally then figuratively by everything - and everyone - that came before. It makes the title of the book "Inheritance" all the more relevant. Whether you believe it or not, the spaces that we inhabit as our homes have history - sometimes joyful, sometimes not - and those things carry.
I liked the premise and I thought that the supernatural aspect was full of just enough chills. It is a very slow and methodical build, however. I'd say this is mostly a set-up book. I'm hoping in the next ones we'll see a bit more action and forward momentum. I did like learning about all the twists and turns of the manor and getting a lot of good background information, but now I'm ready to really dig into the story especially with that very tantalizing ending.
Overall, another entertaining read in the Nora Roberts oeuvre. I think Nora Roberts is a great author in that you can pick up any book or start to a series from her and you are guaranteed that you'll enjoy the read even if this is the first book you've ever read from her.

This was a very good book. I enjoyed everything about it. It was fast paced and easy to get in to. I have not read a lot of Nora Roberts’s books, but she is a favorite among the ladies who come to my library so that made me want to read this one.
The premise got me hooked; a haunted gothic mansion in Maine. I’m in! We find out there is a curse and lost brides. Sonya inherits this mansion from an uncle she didn’t know she had. And then there is the ghost who cleans and turns down her bed every night! Where can I get one?!
This is very much a winner in my book! I cannot wait for the next one to come out! I listened to the audio version of the book, the narrator did not disappoint. I highly recommend it.

Book Review 👰♀️-
Anyone whose been around here for a while knows that @norarobertsauthor is the author that first got me into reading as a young girl. My mom had all her books so I grabbed one and fell in love with not only the story, but reading. So it is definitely a full circle moment that now I get read an advanced copy of her new series!
Inheritance is the first book of the Lost Bride Series. Here we meet Sonya who has just learned that she’s inherited Lost Bride Manor from an uncle she didn’t know she had. The problem is, it’s definitely haunted.
•Cozy
•A little bit of paranormal with the ghosts
•A bit of romance even though it’s not the main part of the book.
•Enjoyable characters
This one was definitely the first book in a series. What I mean by that is that it sets the scene, we get to know the characters, the villain and idea about what’s to come. I definitely didn’t see the ending coming! It’s not a swoony romance if that’s what your expecting but I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
Inheritance comes out November 21rst! Thank you @stmartinspress and @macmillan.audio for my advanced copies!
