Read this in one day. It’s a brilliant story. You’ll be rooting for the main character immediately. The story has so many wrists and turns and it addresses mental illness in a way that will help people understand the reality of it.
This was gaslighting at it’s best. Even though I did figure out who was responsible for all the crazy stuff happening, it didn’t mean I didn’t question myself a few times. There were enough red herrings and distractions to keep me guessing. Well written with enough tension and suspense to keeping me wanting to continue reading. Overall a quick and entertaining read.
James was found holding his girlfriend's dead body, but he can't remember hurting her or what happened. James is sent to a mental facility to serve time for his alleged crime. His release day has finally arrived and he's moving into his childhood home. Strange events occur while he's trying to live his day to day life and he's suspecting his losing his mind while he is having hallucinations.
This book was supposed to be a psychological thriller with twist, but I found it very predictable and really far fetched. I was almost frustrated with the events throughout the book and couldn't believe that a character would be so simple to fall for the events taking place.
Thank you to Netgalley, Cole Baxter, and the publishers for this free ebook. This review is 100% my own and honest opinion.
This was an interesting thriller with a cool premise. Sadly, the writing style just didn't grab me like I wanted it to.
Unfortunately this one was not for me but I will still recommend to customers because I thought the writing was well done. I didn't care for the plot but I can see how others might. Well paced.
Thank you NetGalley for this advance copy of The Patient by Cole Baxter! I love a dark mystery with an unreliable narrator, and this book did that so well. It was unsettling in so many ways, and may be too much for some. I would recommend this to anyone who likes thrillers with an element of psychiatric themes.
This was a good book, but difficult to read because of the content. For those considering reading this, I strongly recommend checking the trigger warnings, as the book addresses sensitive topics such as abuse and its profound impact on families. The representation of mental health in this book was truly impactful. As someone personally familiar with mental health struggles, I empathized with James. The book bravely delves into darker themes that reflect the daily struggles of many individuals. While the ending was somewhat predictable, I believe the overall experience of reading the book was very enjoyable.
I found this to be full of suspense and surprises, a very enjoyable read.
Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.
This author's writing style is quite amateurish and doesn't feel at all polished. Everything is told to the reader rather than shown, which makes for quite a slow and uninteresting read. A lot of the events that happen feel unrealistic and the characters aren't well rounded.
I love a good medical thriller! This one had a bunch of twists and suspense! It was a read in one sitting type of book. I really loved it!!
Very enjoyable thriller. A great pace and a complete page turner. The chapters leave you wanting more and i found it hard to put this book down. A really great twist and a brilliant ending. Thank you to Netgalley for the chance to read this. I have recommended to my thriller loving friends.
The Patient was such an enjoyable read, I really took a liking to James and was really rooting for him! It had a slightly creepy feel to the book which made it so addictive.
This was such a good read, full of twists and turns I really struggled to put it down.
The character development and stories intertwined really kept me captured and engaged
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC of this book. I couldn't get into this book. I tried multiple times and it was just boring. The main character was unlikable and the story was a boring slow burn.
This book kept me on my toes I couldn’t put it down I had to know what happened next! Can’t wait to read more!
Thank you Inkubator Books and NetGalley
This was a slow burn for me.
Twists and turns, and a good read eventually, but things were sometimes a bit obvious. Hence the 3 stars I would have given 3.5.
I would read another book by this author.
This twisty psychological thriller shows how easily self doubt can eat at you. While it was enjoyable, it wasn’t outstanding. I rate it 3/5 stars.
I found this book a struggle to read & really didn't get into it. The characters were annoying & it really wasn't difficult to work out where the storyline was going!!
I’m not sure how I feel about this one still. I liked it while I was reading it but I found it very forgettable. I did really like the characters and the story line.
Thank you to NetGalley and publishers for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest and fair review.
An immersive psychological thriller which leaves you constantly guessing and surprises behind every corner. It shows how self-doubt can really cloud your judgement of events. The portrayal of mental illness and how this can impact an individuals placing in society was accurate but sensitive, depicting how others can be judgemental based on a 'label' and sometimes you have to fight the system to show your opinion or innocence.
Overall this book is captivating with multiple twists and turns, the format of the book, especially the short chapters makes it an easy read, ideal for readers who want to start reading psychological thrillers but almost need a light hearted, easy read, then this is for you. I will definitely be looking to read more of Cole Baxter's books. 4/5 stars
