I'm actually glad I started with one of the later Harry Hole series, It was nice to have him "fleshed out" more when I went back and read this first book in the series. Its very good, but don't feel that you need to read the books in order to enjoy them.
Sorry I didn't get to this when it was requested but cleaning out books that are not downloaded on my kindle or I have no interest in a my taste in genres has changed.
This is the first in the Harry Hole series and is set in Australia where blonde young women are being raped and some strangled. Harry is there to help solve the murder of a young Norwegian women. Meets a Swedish girl he cares for and death follows him. Not as well done as his later in this series seems somewhat disjointed and confused and not what I'd expected.
I have been wanting to try a Harry Hole book for awhile, but unfortunately, was now wowed. I felt that the book dragged in places, and Harry seemed so downtrodden that it made for a pretty dreary read. I do intend to try the next book in the hopes that I will feel more of a connection with it.
