I appreciate both Ray Ortlund and Sam Allberry, while not a pastor myself (but married to one), I appreciate the emphasis on being a church that is centered on Christ and the gospel. This book is a great encouragement to those in ministry!

Fantastic book on the culture of the church and how to persevere with joy in ministry. They write to encourage pastors and church members and help inspire them towards a church that reflects the teaching of the gospel. Helpful to those working in ministry or anyone experiencing church/ministry burnout

You're Not Crazy is written for ministry leaders but is beneficial for all Christians. It offers encouragement to refocus on Christ and build on a foundation of the Gospel. It is easy to burnout in ministry and it is always good to remember what is true to help us keep going.

This is a very uplifting book that is directed towards those who wish to share the word of God with the world, when the world has become somewhat indifferent and sometimes hostile towards religion. I only gave it 4 stars not because of the writing quality, which is very good. I took the star off because the font was terribly small and made the book a strain to read. If there is a kindle version of this book, you should definitely consider going with that so that you can adjust the font and save your eyes.

For a fairly short book, this work packs a brilliant invitation - it's really just a reminder of what we all got into this faith business for in the first place. In a world that lives at the tips of its fingers with any and every piece of information and connection it could hope to have, the church has something distinct to offer...IF we can get our culture right. That is, if we can truly live a Gospel culture. That's what this book reminds us of and calls us to.

I'm not certain that I followed the progression of the book in the way that I expected to based on the introduction. It seemed that the order would have been more concrete and more connected in some ways, but perhaps I was just missing it and others will pick up on it more immediately than I did.

I was a little nervous in the early chapters when a very specific doctrine of a very specific denomination was included, and I wondered how it might affect the book overall. We are living in a world where even Christianity remains fairly divided, and including something like this might turn a whole host of readers away before they even get started. (My ministry is inter-denominational, so I'm not as put off by this as others might be.) Interestingly, what seemed hyper-denominational at the very beginning completely disappeared a short while later and wasn't an issue with the rest of the book. So to any reader who reads that thing that they don't connect with or maybe even disagree with, don't get discouraged - keep reading. Don't let an unfamiliar language keep you from discovering the common heart we all share as followers of Christ.

I found quite a bit in this book to quote. Several points were just very well-worded, but still highly accessible. I like that in a book.

This is a very practical collection of essays by two veteran pastors trying to encourage young pastors battling the pandemic. It's my understanding that most of these were blogs or conversations on a podcast with The Gospel Coalition before appearing in this bound edition. I found listening to these two tremendously encouraging. They aren't necessarily saying things that haven't been said before, but it's good to sit among the wise and let their insight help refocus our efforts in the busyness of youth.

First of all, Thank You netglalley for another ARC granted. I was caught up by the title, especially when it comes about christian books, and I am here with a grateful and joyful heart to say that this was really worth the reading. Altough the narrative is focused for pastors and ministers, I can say that every christian should read and receive with easy the message in here. I strongly agree with the writers and collaborators when They say that We're living a time in Which it is imperative to believers work for the realignment of the gospel culture in the world, and that must be the perfect time to go back to basics and show the original christianity lived by Jesus, despite of the new(and sometimes the seem-to-be coolest) way of mere lifestyle christianity. A simple and yet marvelous book that I certainly recommend. Well done!
