TW: parental abandonment, miscarriage (mentioned)

I wasn't expecting to finish that all in one go but Elsie reeled me in and didn't let go! Elsie Silver's Reckless is the fourth installment in the Chestnut Springs series and although it's my first venture into this series I felt like I could understand everything going on. But with how much I enjoyed Elsie's writing I definitely would love to read the other books in this series and get to know the other characters more in depth.

I really loved the reverse grumpy x sunshine trope, I say reverse because books I read usually have the MMC being the grumpy one and the FMC being the sunshine. But Theo Silva was definitely all the sunshine here, he was so flirty, so unfazed by Winter's bite...he was exactly what she needed. Winter Hamilton was wounded, that's the best way I can describe her. After everything she went through with her douche of an ex, the horrendous childhood she experienced, she was definitely like a wounded animal just lashing out even to those who try to help her. I felt so bad for the way she viewed herself but I could identify with how she threw everything towards loving and raising Vivi.

Speaking of Vivi, I had no idea this had an accidental pregnancy trope! I was dumb and went into this blind and fell for the pretty cover. I usually avoid pregnancy tropes...they are just never really done organically and they annoy me, BUT Elsie Silver did a great job! I don't want to spoil too much but I have to say the scene where Theo figures it all out...oh man that gutted me so hard, I was bawling over his reaction. Seeing this rugged, tough bull rider of a man just fall apart...oh god it wrecked me!

Reckless was easy to read, the pacing was good and I obviously did not want to put it down considering I finished it in about six hours! I highly enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading more of Elsie Silver's titles! Thank you so much to Sourcebooks and Bloom Books for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review!

Reckless by Elsie Silver is a steamy and emotional rollercoaster that follows Theo Silva, a rowdy bull rider, and a woman navigating the complexities of a toxic marriage. As they share a night filled with passion and vulnerability, the story delves into the challenges of trust, healing, and unexpected connections. This book is a tale of passion, secrets, and the blurred lines between simple desires and complicated realities, making it a compelling read for fans of romance.

This is the second book of the series that I’ve read, and it was just as good as the last one. Winter and Theo have sparks from their first meeting, which soon after turns into a positive pregnancy test. Theo, a professional bull rider, isn’t aware that Winter reached out to tell him because his social media manager pretended to be him and brushed her off.

18 months later, Theo comes to town and is shocked to see Winter with a baby. Winter has her guard up, still under the belief that he didn’t want to be in their lives. Once everything is cleared up, things heat up as they settle into being a family.

Winter was a great main character. She has a sad backstory, and I loved reading as Theo was able to chip away at her icy exterior.

Thanks as always to NetGalley for the ARC.

Thank you Netgalley and Bloom Books for the e-book. And thank you Elsie Silver for Theo Silva 🔥
Tropes:
One night stand to forever
Surprise pregnancy
He falls first
Cowboy MMC

This is my favourite of the Chestnut Springs series. Winter’s character arc is so moving and really endears her to the reader. Theo Silva is everything I’ve ever wanted in a book boyfriend. He’s sexy, confident, funny but also respectful, protective, thoughtful and sweet. My heart ached for him in this book. I was really emotionally invested.
I know surprise pregnancy isn’t the most popular trope but Elsie Silver did it to perfection! The bond that Theo and Vivi develop is the epitome of girl dad; he would do anything for her.
Of course the Eaton clan makes this book even more fantastic. Harvey is in peek form in this one so if you love his sarcasm and razzing his sons don’t miss this one!

"Reckless" by Elsie Silver is the 4th installment in the Chestnut Springs series & while it's not imperative that you read the others....go read the others first.

This series is too freaking good.

Winter (the sister of Summer - the FMC from the first novel) is as cold as her name suggests. Theo (introduced in the first book as well) runs a little warmer. He's younger than Winter and over-the-top into her from the moment he sees her. She's made it clear she's not interested....until they land in bed together for a one night stand.

Now she's got a secret and can't reach Theo to tell him what it is. But I bet you can guess....and it's got a heartbeat.

This book was so freaking good. I normally don't go for an accidental pregnancy book but the yin and yang of Winter and Theo kept me turning the pages. I love when he falls first and HARD and when a dad just melts for his kid.

Again, read this series!

4.5 stars!!

My favorite part of Elsie’s writing is that she is SO good at interpersonal conflict. I love how she sets up her couples and what emotional obstacles they have to face in order to be together.

Reckless is lowkey Nesta and Cassian but yeehaw cowboy vibes and I love it.

I will say there was one writing choice Elsie had that kinda disrupted my reading flow, but besides that I TORE through this book. Overall it probably has my favorite plot in the series and is my second favorite book as a whole right after Heartless.

And Theo and Winter are perrrrrrfect for each other and Winter I feel like is Elsie’s most relatable FMC yet.

The sense of humor in this is incredible too.

Elsie is becoming a GOAT author for me and based off the snippet for Hopeless I think I’m in trouble!!!!!!!

My favorite of the series yet!!!

Theo Silva was introduced to us in Book 1 when he was riding bulls with Rhett. Theo, still crushing the game, has a way with women. When he has a one night stand with the least likely person, Winter, they both can’t believe she caved. But she was in the middle of a divorce and looking for a good time.

A few weeks later Winter discovers that she is pregnant, and when she reaches out to Theo, he brushes it off. Winter doesn’t need a man though, so she moves forward with the pregnancy and raising her sweet daughter. But when Theo comes back to town over a year later and discovers this baby who looks just like him, it is like he is receiving the news for the first time.

Together they start to navigate co-parenting and even though Winter is doing her best to keep her feelings for Theo to a minimum, there is just something about a man who falls first that makes it hard to stay away from.

Everything about this book was amazing. I usually HATE the pregnancy trope, but this is the way to do it. Winter is such a strong woman who will do anything for her daughter, and Theo will stop at nothing to be the support that Winter doesn’t even know she needs. Their banter and romance is swoon worthy. I loved the reverse grumpy/ sunshine, and the small town setting. The dual POV allows us to dive into both of their lives and feel like we are there with them.

Perfection.
