When I got "Christmas at the Inn on Bluebell Lane" from Netgalley, I wasn't aware that it was part of a series and this was the second book so I went and read the first of the series before diving into this although, in my opinion, it's perfectly fine if you haven't (or won't ) read the first book as this one manages to stand on its own.
If you enjoy holiday tales with a touch of drama, you may enjoy this book. It touches on the intricacies of relationships, the process of dealing with loss and grief, and the unpredictable nature of life's curveballs. And while I especially enjoyed Gwen's POVs, I just felt like the book could do with a bit more polishing and improvement on the storyline. I felt like it was lacking. For example, I feel like there wasn't enough backstory on Nathan and Sarah's relationship and their (or Nathan's) decision still left me with a question mark.
There were some inconsistencies as well (which I will write down as a spoiler at the end of this review) so it may be a bit confusing if you have read the first book.
Inconsistencies:
In the first book, Gwen's diagnosis was stage 3 cancer, but in the 2nd book, she says it's stage 4 (although I'm not sure if cancer can progress to stage 4 during chemo).
Also in the epilogue of the first book, it says that Gwen "had lost her hair during chemo, and it had only just started to grow back into a gray fuzz", but in the 2nd book, it states that "she hadn't lost her hair when she'd had her chemo".
The second book in the Inn at Bluebell Lane, Christmas at the Inn on Bluebell Lane by Kate Hewitt has the family facing financial problems, personal and relationship ones too. The Inn needs more money coming into the coffers for it to stay afloat. A special Christmas week experience for visitors seems to be the answer. Ellie takes charge with everyone lending a hand it.
The relationship between the characters is what makes this story interesting. I like the inn and what they are trying to do to save it, but it is all that goes on between the characters that keeps me reading. A romance seems to be dying, a new one perhaps starting, and teenagers going through all the challenges of life is an important focus with the future of the inn impacting the characters.
I must say the conclusion was not what I was expecting but was pleased by it nonetheless. Christmas at the Inn on Bluebell Lane may not be your typical Hallmark Christmas story but it is an enjoyable realistic look at families, life and what is suppose to be the best time of the year.
An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Christmas at the inn on bluebell lane is a lovely festive book by kate. That is sure to put anyone is a festive spirit. It will definitely warm up the coldest of hearts and leaving you smiling with happiness.
What a great holiday read! Kate Hewitt’s latest book Christmas at the Inn on Bluebell Lane had me feeling like I want to start decking the halls in October lol! I always feel like the key to a great holiday read is to keep the storyline upbeat and heartfelt. In saying that, I understand every novel needs conflict, but I feel like the good should far outweigh the bad and Kate Hewitt has created the perfect combination in this gem! I enjoyed the husband/wife dynamics, as well as the family dynamics— very relatable and realistic. I had that cozy, warm feeling the entire way through, and I truly recommend this novel to anyone looking to get themselves in the holiday spirit! Kate Hewitt absolutely never disappoints, and I always look forward to reading more from her!
Christmas at the Inn on Bluebell Lane continues the story of the family Inn and the chance if the Inn does not start bringing in more money to save it.
The hurdles the family must get over to save the inn seem to be more than anyone imagined. Ellie has an idea to save it, but everyone has to agree. The family works together, and all seems good until the weather turns bad and the guests can not get to the inn.
It is not all lost when the family stays at the inn and discovers life will be ok for them.
The changes coming are so well written by the author that I feel like I am right there with them. I adore the characters in this book.

I’d like to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Christmas At The Inn On Bluebell Lane’ written by Kate Hewitt in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
When Ellie learns from her sister-in-law Sarah that the Bluebell Inn is spending more money that it’s earning she thinks up ways to make it more attractive to visitors. Following a consultation with the family, adults and children, Ellie decides to offer a special Christmas Week but things don’t always go as planned.
‘Christmas at the Inn on Bluebell Lane’ is a lovely story that continues from where ‘The Inn on Bluebell Lane’ ends and is ideal for the festive season, leaving the reader feeling warm and content. As always, Kate Hewitt has written a novel with characters that make me feel I’d want to know them in real life, and from the description of Bluebell Inn I’d definitely want to book a break there if I could be looked after by Ellie and Gwen. I hope there’ll be another novel in the series as I’d love to know where the characters’ futures lie.
This was a quick and fun read. A perfect cozy Christmas book for anyone looking for a book to read on a rainy weekend day.
Ellie and her husband Mathew left US when he was made redundant to run his family's inn. Its starting to struggle financially and they need to find ways to keep it going
Christmas at the Inn on Blueberry Lane is beautifully written with strong family ties and relationships. It warms your heart finding out the family’s story and will leave you wanting more.
Gwen owns the Inn and her son and daughter-in-law help run it, but it’s having to face closure. They all club together to make it gain revenue by having a Christmas Week to remember.
A wonderful Christmas themed page turner.

A nice cozy Christmas book that talks about family dynamics and uniting together towards a common goal. It's the perfect book to take to a coffee shop or sit with in front of a fireplace. A perfect way to start your autumn/winter cozy reading binge.
This was another great Christmas read. Ellie and her family moved from the States to a small Welsh village to run her husband's family inn. When her sister-in-law tells her that the inn is facing financial trouble and might need to close after Christmas she is shocked. Then she decides to meet with the family and go all out for one last memorable Christmas at the Inn. This story is about the love of family and the uncertainty of the future. I hope there is another sequel to this story.
Thanks to Netgalley, Bookouture, and Kate Hewitt for early access to this story in exchange for an honest review. it will be published October 6th.
