I listened to this as an audiobook and it was really peaceful and relaxing. It was a bit like ASMR with the whispering and different sounds. I really enjoyed.

A collection of poetry set to music, this book was engaging but I found that either the poetry detracted from the music or the music distracted me from the poetry. For me, the combination did not work.

Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to The Muse Frequency, BooksGoSocial Audio, and Netgalley for this free advanced read copy of "Diary of an Artist in Love" for an honest review.

Wow. This was an experience. This was so new and different. I absolutely understand the recommendation to lay down with a blindfold and listen to this, though I fear if I'd done that I might have fallen asleep, but this was SO atmospheric, so calming, so deeply loving. I recommend this to everyone!

I love the idea of this audiobook but in reality it didn't work for me. The music was too loud, the voice was too whispery soft and the whole thing felt a bit like an ASMR track and came across more annoying than meditative. Maybe in small doses it would work better but I found myself struggling to even hear what the poems were.

A collection of 30 poems about love, set to some beautiful relaxing music the idea is that you close your eyes and relax. Listening through headphones or in a quiet place just concentrate on the prose. Lovely, short and concise. Thank you #NetGalley for the audiobook to review.

Diary Of An Artist In Love
The Muse Frequency

🌟🌟🌟🌟

I always say that poetry is such a personal thing to write and share and I often find that some of the poems in a collection will resonate more with me and others not at all.

This collection focusses on love in its entirety.

The more personal poems are alternated with a "Love Is" poem - each of them different even though the format is the same.
I loved these poems as they began to feel familiar as I read through the book and I was amazed to see how many things could be found to describe love - all of them absolutely perfect and I could connect and relate to many of them.
I actually became quite emotional reading them all.
The repetition of this same format poem became almost meditative over time.
Perfect to take one when needed to remind ourselves to not take things for granted and to enjoy even the smallest of joys in our own lives.

The poems in between these "love is" poems, I found much more personal.
Again I felt that I could really relate to them as they told a beautiful story of a couple falling in love.
Each one conveyed such emotion and the continuation of the story was really satisfying.

I also have to mention the illustrations and format of this book!
Such a lovely attention to detail with each poem set in its own page with a dividing page between.
I loved the moon phase images throughout which gave it a spiritual vibe.
I also really liked the simple images on each of the poem pages - single line drawings to depict something from that poem - these were so simple yet so effective.

Everything about this book seemed to promote slowing down, taking some time for yourself to really connect back with nature and the simple joys of living and loving.

An absolutely gorgeous collection that I'm sure I'll dip into over and over again. (I've actually already read this thorough twice!)

**I listened to the audio book of this too (maybe not as intended! But....).as I was driving home from taking my son back to uni.
It was a long journey and I thought it would be perfect to relax to during the roadworks etc.
This version has the narrator speaking softly and includes background music which I found so calming.
This would definitely be a great listen to at the end of a busy day or to be added to a meditation period to enhance your relaxation techniques.**

That was odd. It seemed That was odd. It seemed like it was a serial killer telling the story more than a love story...like it was a serial killer telling the story more than a love story...It felt like a horror novel more than anything.

This soft spoken, whispering narrator speaks endlessly of love as in several chapters with sentences beginning with "Love is..." The concept of a meditative listen to someone's thoughts on love in an audiobook is original. However, the book became either boring after a while, or if you listen too long to the whispers, it may lead to a headache.

I would suggest reading only a chapter at a time, if you like the idea of a mediation of the idea of love.

Diary of an Artist in Love" is a captivating audiobook that mixes poetry and music to explore the powerful feeling of love. It takes you on a personal journey where each poem is like a delicious treat for your heart and mind.

The only drawback was the background music. In some of the chapters it was too loud and narrator's voice was low, which made it hard to understand.

So, it's a bit of a mixed bag. But overall, it's a unique way to understand and feel love through art and words, especially if you love poetry.

This is a sound design project combining music and spoken word and meditation.. The author reads this in whispers, which takes a bit to get used to. Best listened to at 1.0 speed and not sped up.

It is hard to hear some bits over the music, but most got through either consciously or unconsciously.. It's somewhat enlightening. It can be heard as erotica. The "Love is" poems with every line starting with "Love is.." is too repetitive.. but can be used as a meditative device.

For example:

Love is the origin of the Universe.
Love is how I lose myself.
Love is what illuminates you from within.
Love is the unspoken bond.
Love is the magnetic pull.

The whole audiobook is "Love is..: poems alternating with other poems.. such as On Painting, That Morning, Tell Me, Velvet

My favorite poem of this audiobook is "Velvet" about the divide between touch and feel. "I feel you is not the same as I touch you."

The audio gives us Binaural beats, which are pulse frequencies with offset tones into each ear to balance the brain hemispheres. It also includes Soffregio tones, which are frequencies that stimulate nerves and meridians for nervous system healing and uplifting energy. *

I did more meditating and less listening to the actual words as it went on. It isn't successful as poetry, but this became more enjoyable as a meditative experience.

Thank you, NetGalley for the audio arc.

Unfortunately, this just didn't work for me. There were some occasional beautiful writing that I truly did appreciate. However, for the most part, it lacked depth and was completely impersonal despite the misleading title. It seemed more like a collection of lines you'd find in a book of love quotes or even a thesaurus. I was expecting the author to spill their guts and share more of their personal experiences as the title suggested. I did enjoy the production a bit in terms of music choice and pace. I'm not entirely sure about the performance though. It feels a bit too ASMR-esque with the whispering and breathing. If that is your thing and you want a quick, relaxing book, then maybe this is for you.

I received an audiobook version of this story via NetGalley. So as always many thanks.

This audiobook is unnerving. It’s almost like a serial killer’s Journal entries, while they are stalking some victims.

The narrator was too quiet and extremely slow, while the background music was unnecessarily loud.

I did finish, but did not enjoy it.

Thank you to NetFally and The Muse Frequency for the listen now arc. Interesting concept just not for me. It was very calming and serene.

The messages behind each of these poems is of love and trust and the good in the humanity - all of which I agree with and can get behind. However the narrator’s way of reading the poems forced me to stop part way into the collection because they were whispering like it was an ASMR video and the background music was louder than the speaker at times, making it impossible to listen to.

I listened to the audio version and while I found it very calming; it would be more fitting classified as a sleep aid on the calm app than a poetry collection. I feel like more effort went into the production rather than the actual poetry. The poetry itself felt very young and amateur. All of them followed the same pattern which mede them blend together, hard to distinguish and non of them memorable. If I read the collection instead of listening to it I would probably end up classifying it as "instagram poetry" but with the music so loud I missed half the words.

If you want something REALLY beginner this could work but you'd probably have a better time with something by Rupi Kaur and that's saying a lot.

First off, thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

This book sounded really interesting to me to have a poetry book on audio. However, I could not get past the way the narrator read it. The music was fine, but it sounded like an ASMR video and unfortunately, I can't stand those. This is not an audiobook I would recommend unless you like the whisper ASMR. I think the book itself could be great without all the extra gimmicks. This was DNF for me...

Really beautiful and unusual audiobook. Perfect for relaxing and switching off on the commute home after a busy day. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC

I feel this is an interesting concept, I didn’t mind the music behind the spoken word, but it came off a little repetitive with many of the poems being love is… with the same music broken up with a different style of music and poem. I think it’s obviously full of emotion and feeling but for me personally it didn’t quite hit.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC digital copy. I was not compensated for this review and all opinions are my own.

Interesting concept to join music with the spoken word. Unfortunately, this specific combination did not work for me. I encourage others to listen and decide for themselves.

2.5 stars rounded up to 3 out of respect for the author.
