This was my first book by Tarah Dewitt, but it definitely won’t be my last! Savor it had the perfect small town vibes, and that summer feeling that you just want to cling to forever-especially when it’s 30° out right now! I loved being introduced to the town of Spunes, it’s history and its people. I got MAJOR Gilmore Girls vibes 😍

Sage is such a fun character! I am so envious of her quiet farm life, that comfortability of small town living. And I absolutely love that, even though she’s been through tragedies, she holds on to doing what she loves and living how she wants, damn what anyone thinks. It was so cute go see her guiding Indy and Fisher as they navigated being new to the town. I love their interactions & I can’t wait for y’all to read it for yourselves!!

This was a sweet story about learning to slow down, take people as they are and enjoy life. This book is aptly named, because as the book progressed, I found myself completely enraptured in all it had to offer. I wanted so much for our two main characters, and honestly every single side character, to thrive. It was a beautiful thing to see Sage & Fisher meet eachother where they were and create such a loving, honest relationship. Their dynamic was so easy & pure. They had me cracking up. They had me squealing. My cuties 🥰

I’m a sucker for big city man learns to love small town living. And chefs. And single parents. And good communicators who may be struggling but are painfully honest and genuine. GUESS WHO CHECKS ALL MY BOXES??! Fisher!!! I would like to live on a crazy little farm full of all kinds of animals and a garden with this man. PLEASE AND THANK YOU!

I really hope that this will be a series. I also hope that when this releases on May 21st, you will read it!! 💜💕✨

Savor It by Tarah Dewitt is a sweet romcom that many are sure to love. The writing is really good and I feel that we really got to know these characters and their personalities. A different story that we haven’t seen before. I think this one will be a favorite of many.

This was absolutely beautiful. Sage’s character spoke to me on such a personal level. I feel so seen by her and she’s quickly become one of my favorite FMCs I’ve ever read. She and Fisher have the sweetest connection and I just adore their love story. The whole town of Spunes was beyond charming. The animals were adorable and the side characters were thoughtfully fleshed out. Hoping for a Wren and Ellis second chance romance down the line, because I’ll never be ready to say goodbye to this town or these characters.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I received this as an ARC from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review - all opinions are my own

It took me a while to finish this so you could say that I was really savouring the story- SORRY THAT WAS CORNY BUT I JUST HAD TO INCLUDE IT ANWAY-

I really enjoyed writing style . I thought that it was humorous yet hard hitting (read : I was holding back sobs at the end) . DeWitt did a great job of crafting the town of Spunes - the descriptions of it were so atmospheric that it made me feel like I was THERE , you know? .The secondary characters (like Indy , Wren and Sage’s brothers) were charming as well as the general lore of the town . As someone who grew up in suburbia , reading about close knit communities always fascinates me

I am currently in the mother of all reading slumps which is why I would truly rate this about 3.75 stars solely because I wasn’t as engaged in the romance as much as I hoped to be , but once I listen to the audiobook upon release, I am sure that I will have a better reading experience .

My favourite part of this book (which I can guarantee will stick with me and makes me tear up just thinking about it) was its themes . The titular theme of savouring life , fully celebrating the big and small ,the daring and the mundane and not valuing societally deemed “great things” over what you truly want ,is what moved me . With it being woven into the narrative and constantly referred to , with it tearing apart yet ultimately brining Sage & Fisher together was beautifully executed.

Slightly deviating from the formal-ish tone but I need to emphasise how FINE Sage and Fisher are- A 6’5 chef , who gives off pirate vibes AND WEARS EARRINGS???? . Sage and her Eclectic robes , her rings , her outfits, her general vibe ?????
MISS DEWITT YOU KNEW WHAT YOU WERE DOING

This comes out on the 21 May 2024

📚: contemporary romance

Funny Feelings is one of my favorite romances of the last couple years, so I was **squeal** giddy to read this book!

I'm happy to say Tara had graced us with another gem! She is so good at filling her books with humor and charm, while also having an emotional weight that elevates the characters and plot.

Fisher and Sage are a bit grumpy/sunshine, but not in an over the top way. Both are a little bit adrift in life and find themselves again while getting to know each other. It's a little quirky, but raw and real.

Some things to love:
🤍 Small town charm in the PNW
💜 Neighbors for the summer
🤍 Single guardian
💜 A man who cooks
🤍 A plethora of (weirdly oversized?) animals
💜 A three legged cat named Legoless
🤍 A friend's with benefits bargain
💜 Grown up communication
🤍 Joy in life's little moments
💜 Healing from grief

If you enjoyed Tara's other books, you'll love this one too!

Thank you to St.Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the ARC of Savor It. This was a charming story of finding your place and your person. I enjoyed the setting and the characters. There was just enough spice to keep it interesting but not so much that it detracted from the story. I thought the first five chapters or so were a bit slow but once I found my groove I couldn’t put it down.

4.5✨ I did not expect to love this book as much as I did!! But I’m also a sucker for a good book playlist and some funny animals. There was so much emotion and life lessons packed into this book on top of a very lovable love story. I do wish we got some more moments with Indy and Sage’s brothers. Def recommend if you’re looking for a rom com with some heavier topics covered.

Thank you NetGalley for this arc!

When I saw the author of Funny Feelings had a new book coming out I was ecstatic!!! She couldn’t have picked a better book title because I swear you will want to SAVOR every chapter and moment in this book. You aren’t just getting a romance novel you are getting so much more 💜 The atmosphere of this small town had me wanting to literally jump inside this book. It’s seriously so unfair I can’t be transported and live my happy, merry life there forever 🤭😭

Brief Summary: Sage has lived in the coastal town of Spunes, Oregon (not to be confused with Forks, Washington 🤭) her entire life. She's learned to love her small world, with the misfit animals on her hobby farm, and her friendships with the town's inhabitants. She had a serious relationship that ended a year ago and she hates running into him everywhere in the small town. Fisher who just got custody of his niece is a big time chef from NY coming to Spunes to get life back on track and open a restaurant in the town. He is renting the house next to Sage and they become very acquainted.

Tropes & What to Expect
🪻small town romance
🪻opposites attract
🪻hello next door neighbor
🪻friends with benefits
🪻summer romance
🪻Dual POV
🪻flirty and playful banter
🪻HEA

Sage is one of my favorite FMCs. She is such a treasure. She’s funny, strong, kind, spunky, and just a genuine soul. I WANT to be her best friend 🥹 Fisher is struggling in his role as a new caregiver to his nice and is grieving his sister’s death. I loved their communication and how they both help each other through their issues. There is no miscommunication and the characters actually ACT👏🏼 THEIR 👏🏼 AGE 👏🏼 I’m so tired of reading about 30-40 year olds acting like babies 🙄

Spice Level
2/5 🌶️
There are explicit scenes but you aren’t going to see any explicit wording. I LOVED the aftercare scene 🫠

Overall thoughts: I feel I’ve said the word “love” a million times but oh well I LOVED this book 🩷 The writing is fun and humorous. If you want to feel like you just vacationed to a small beach town with the most wonderful tight knit community then read this book ☺️ It’s already got me planning a trip to a sleepy beach town 🌊☀️

This is the first book I’ve read by this author, and it wasn’t a huge hit for me, unfortunately. Many of the early reviews raved about this one, so I was excited to jump in. There were a few things that didn’t work for me…

•Lack of dialogue - Dialogue helps a story flow. A large majority of this story were page-long paragraphs.

•Plot development - The plot line is great, but there wasn’t a lot of progression.

•Pacing - The first half of the book was so slow. I didn’t really feel like anything happened. There is a lot of potential here, but the details and action of the story weren’t fleshed out well. You jump in the story so much that it felt choppy and confusing. I found myself going back and rereading sections thinking I must’ve missed something (but hadn’t).

•Show, Don’t Tell - She told me too much & didn’t show me enough. Don’t tell me how the characters feel. Show it to me in their mannerisms and their dialogue.

I wish this one didn’t fall flat. There’s a lot of potential, and I do think it would translate better on audio, but unfortunately, it struggled to find its footing for me.

This book is EVERYTHING I love in a romance book and more. The tension, the grumpyxsunshine trope, a quirky free-spirited FMC, an MMC who goes to therapy (WHAT!?), and a fun quirky small town that gives me all of the stars hollow gilmore girl vibes. I adored this book and was invested from the very first page.

This book is also so much more than fluffy romance, it explores topics of grief, and healing after a loss of a loved one. I love when books have so much more going on than just fluff. And trust me there are plenty of scenes with fluff and spice, I was reading this on the train and I could not stop myself from giggling to myself because the dynamic between Fisher and Sage is incredible. It is incredibly rare to read about two people who genuinely have such a healthy relationship and who know how to communicate their feelings well.

I also really loved the relationship between Fisher and his niece, Indy. It was so rocky in the beginning, but I loved seeing how they started to connect more and more and grew to understand each other as the story went on.

I also loved reading about Fisher and his experience with burn out. I have experienced burn out in my career, and I think this is another reason why I truly feel like this book means so much to me.

I will not stop talking about this book! This is one of those books that had me smiling to myself even after I finished reading the last page. I've been thinking about it since. I can't wait for the book to officially come out, so I can buy a physical copy!!!

Thank you so much NetGalley for sending me the arc! I think I may have just found my new favorite book!

Having been a HUGE fan of Tara’s previous indie book, Funny Feelings, I had high hopes for Savor It. Unfortunately, despite my adoration of the complex characters, potentially deep storylines, and teacher FMC/ chef MMC this one, overall, fell flat for me. I had a difficult time getting hooked and feeling connected to the characters when their stories were so surface level and breezed over so lightly. Initially, I felt like there was so much potential for powerful emotional depth it just wasn’t executed in a way that made it work. I noticed an abundance of sub plots that didn’t add to the story and only made it feel scattered. I wish there would have been more time spent on specific plot lines. I adore Tara’s writing and felt like this was much more of an editorial miss rather than a writing miss. I’m still eager to read more of her work and hope to see more of some of these characters in future books!

Another beautiful book by Tarah DeWitt. Sage and Fisher's love story feels real, like any of us could experience a love like theirs, and whether she meant to or not, the setting of Spunes, OR reminds me of a west-coast Stars Hollow with its own quirky traditions and characters. I love the threading DeWitt provides throughout - something at which she's wildly adept - with puns both said and/or worn (Sage's closet is filled with punny t-shirts!). Fisher's arc is the most dramatic given the grief he is learning to work through along with his newer role as a parent to his teenage niece, Indy. This is a captivating, emotional story of two people finding each other and recognizing their own worth to love and to be loved. Highly recommend!

These characters were so cozy and in love, I didn’t want this book to end. (GET IT?) this was my first @authortarahdewitt but will not be my last.

“He didn’t fix me, and I didn’t heal him, but we loved each other wholly.”

Savor It comes out May 21 and it’s absolutely delicious. Thank you @netgalley and @stmartinspress for the eArc. No cover page pic means background Carlos to make it fun!

CW: death of parents (off page), teenage pregnancy, grief, three legged cat

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 (automatic 5⭐️ if it makes me cry)
🌶🌶🌶/5 (takes a minute but THEY GET THERE.

For some reason, this one took longer to hook me in than some of her other books, but I ended up having a great time reading it! There were a few things that I thought felt rushed or could have been done differently though:
* Some of the jokes/character descriptions fell extremely flat to me
* The jumps between POVs with chapters was sometimes a little jarring, there were some moments I just wanted to stay in one character's POV without switching
BUT all in all I do love a small town romance & I am hoping and praying we get to expand on and see more of Spunes, OR in the future!

This was my second book by author, Tarah DeWitt and I like her writing style.

This was just a solid standard feel-good small town romance - I enjoyed the characters (main and side-kicks) - in fact, I even found myself wanting more to the story for several of the sidekicks (Hello Wren and Ellis!)

3.6 rounded up!

Mark your calendars for May 21st, 2024! Thank you NetGalley and St Martin's Press for this arc of Savor It by Tarah DeWitt in exchange for an honest review!

i loved this book! i found Sage and Fisher to be two refreshingly enjoyable, well written & complex characters with a beautiful love story. i absolutely adored the backstory and depth that Tarah DeWitt provided both of their characters, how she let that play into how they view life and love. I enjoyed the small town aspect, it felt unique in its own right, and it added another layer of humor to the story. I absolutely loved Sage and Fisher together. their chemistry, dynamic, banter, and overall comparability was beautiful. I loved how they respected each other’s boundaries, were open & communicative, and helped each other heal. their love story was beautiful and emotional to me. i laughed, cried, and got all of the butterflies!! Absolutely loved this!!! Thank you so much to NetGalley for the arc!!

This books was cute and witty! It had be laughing out loud and also crying. Such a heartwarming story that had the vibes of a lifetime movie. Nothing like a small town love story!

After reading this book I feel as if I’ve read it before. Which for me isn’t a good thing. It’s the second book I’ve read by the author and honestly felt very much like another version of the same thing. If you’re someone who likes very cookie cutter, copy and paste with a few things changed stories then this book is for you. As I’m not this book didn’t do it for me. Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

though this review comes many months after first reading this glorious small-town romance, hardly a day has gone by where I haven't thought of sage, fisher and all the lovely souls of spunes, oregon. savor it is tarah's best work yet, a story that was infused with just the right amount of heart and soul. apologies for any of the not-so-subtle cooking references I may make in honor of chef fisher lange and the man he is.

4.5 ★

as an avid consumer of romance novels, certain books come around and remind me why I adore the genre so damn much. savor it lives on that tier of the ladder, where there is such depth and nuance to the characters that they truly feel alive, like friends you wish to comfort, people you'd do anything to know. while sage and fisher are imperfect, they're still hopeful and trying, aware of the risk they face when being vulnerable. it's no small thing to reveal all we are to someone, so it was magical to witness the connection they formed, and the way they were intentionally gentle with each other.

in 2023, savor it ended up being one of my favorite books of the year, a joyful experience from start to finish. and all these months later, its perfectly executed conclusion is something I still think about often. the full gambit of emotions was felt while reading the last 10 to 15 percent, and isn't that what we do this for, at the end of the day? the buzzing anticipation of the happy ending? the satisfaction of witnessing the characters we love being loved? I don't imagine it will ever grow old.

all the thanks in the world to tarah dewitt for this story.

There’s definitely some charm in this small town romance. But if you’re looking for a Tarah DeWitt novel that feels like a Tarah DeWitt novel don’t start with this one. I feel this story is sweet but needed more time to bake. The characters aren’t as endearing as they could be. The relationships feel kind of paint by numbers. The setting is really fun though & saved the book for me. Overall, it just didn’t stand out like her other books do for me. I’m still a fan & will be anticipating her next release. DeWitt’s a talented writer. Really can’t wait to see what she does next.
