This was the first book that I've read from this author. I was excited to get the ARC due to the overwhelming positive reviews. I 100% agree. It was a fabulous read. Sage and Fisher stole my heart. They were wonderfully flawed characters who had to piece themselves back together.....funny moments, insightful tender moments, the perfect romcom.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️- 4 stars
I loved the characters and animals in this story (Sage’s passion for adopting unwanted animals was so sweet!)
I enjoyed the PNW beach setting (I was raised in a small town on the Oregon coast) there was even a reference to Bend which is close to where I live now.
The puns and quirky side characters made me smile. I love how Sage found joy in the mundane and learned to appreciate the people who took care of her when she needed them.
Fisher being a chef and wanting to cook for Sage was so steamy (pardon the pun - IYKYK). He was on his own journey of self discovery, I loved his character development.
After suffering loss Fisher meets a kindred spirit in Sage and she helps him find his way. They seem to find themselves drawn to each other and quickly discover that they bring out the best in each other.
This was my first book by this author and I enjoyed it overall though there was a bit more spice than I generally prefer to see on page.
CW: several open door sex scenes and a significant amount cussing.
ARC was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Ohhh I absolutely loved this from Tarah! 4.5 stars from me. I loved so much about this - the small town vibes (all the crazy residents!), the animals, the backstory for our main characters, the romance, the side characters.
This story is very emotional, and while I was not NOT expecting that, I was not expecting it to hit as hard as it did. Both Sage and Fisher have not had it easy and I was rooting for them so hard. Sage especially felt so real to me and at times it felt like Tarah was literally in my head with the things Sage was thinking/doing/saying.
I absolutely ADORED Sage and Fisher's relationship. They were so cute, funny, and HOT! A couple of scenes had me kinda shook ngl. Tarah really got me with them! I love that they didn't stray away from their feelings or try to hide them either. They acknowledged them, talked about it, and that was that!
The side characters in this story were so great as well. They didn't feel unimportant to the story but rather added to it. I love this town!
My main reason for not giving this book five stars is because the ending did feel a bit rushed and I think I would have like maybe 20 more pages or so, but other than that, I truly loved this book!
ARC Review : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I didn’t have any expectations going in, the cover art and summary sounded like such a sweet novel. It was that and so much more, I enjoyed every second of the deep emotions and profound characters. Two people who have experienced loss and grief but just want to find joy in their lives. Event the side characters made me want to know them more, a small town romance with a big heart and a lot of laughter!
Savor it is small town summer romance perfection. With charming characters that felt so real and relatable, the most delightful small town and cast of side characters, the cutest animals and a spicy and sweet romance this should be on your radar for next year releases. I adored our main characters and was rooting for them from the start. Watching them grow and find happiness was simply beautiful.
Also I'll def be checking more from this author because I was impressed by her storytelling.

Thank you to St Martin's Press and Netgalley for a free eARC in exchange for an honest review! This is a cute story and is very well written. I liked how it dealt with the themes of grief, mental health, and burnout, and I highlighted several poignant passages that were beautiful and meaningful. It has a cute lovers of convenience and enemies to lovers tropes and a fun plot. I think what tripped me up on it is that the scenes went from cute to spicy very fast in a way that felt unnatural and abrupt. Also, Sage didn't feel distinct as a character and felt like an amalgamation of several characters and tropes from other popular romances from the past year to me. I understand that so much of writing can take inspiration from other authors and books, but it felt like inspiration was taken without fleshing out how Sage would be her own character instead of just a work of inspiration.
I didn’t want it to end. Perfection. Tarah has a way with words and stories, cementing her as a must read author for me. I didn’t think Funny Feelings could be topped and yet here I am wanting to fully immerse myself in all things Spunes.
I am really hoping for some follow up for some of the other characters introduced in Savor it.
This was my first book by Tarah Dewitt, and definitely will not be my last! It was such a heartwarming story. I loved both MC’s, and was cheering for them the whole time!
I loved this book so much, I read it slower because I didn’t want it to end. Add it to your TBR!!
Fisher and Sage have such a sweet, authentic and fun relationship. I laughed out loud so many times reading this book. Gah. So good. 🥰
Release date May 21, 2024.
READ IT.
Small town romances are my guilty pleasures and lets just say my cravings were satisfied with this book. It has all the tropes one loves in these types of romances, fake-dating, grumpy/sunshine, single parent, and many others.
I have to say that my heart was immediately hooked on Fisher from the beginning (we love a MMC with some trauma). From losing his sister in an accident and becoming guardian to his niece, burning himself out at work and losing a Michelen star, its safe to say Fisher was having a tough time. I really enjoyed seeing how Fisher had to cope and find a balance to deal with all of this, along with Sage’s help.
In terms of romance, I loved loved loved it! The tension between Sage and Fished was so palpable through the page. The way they both interacted with each other felt so real and how they dealt with their internal problems, it just felt very realistic and I could definitely relate to some of the things they were going through.
Thank you NetGalley for the eARC! Pub Date is May 21st so add it to your TBR!! Definitely worth it!!!
This book had me HOOKED. I honestly wasn’t mentally prepared for the therapy session this book welcomed me to. It opened my eyes & reminded me to enjoy the little things… to savor them, if you will. 😂
You know how when you go on vacation and you feel like you can see beauty in everything? How life can somehow just pause and you can find a happy pocket of joy? That’s what this book was for me. Like the when the clouds part just after a storm and the sun just begins to shine through. 🌦️
While this book had all of the beautiful, and shall I say SPICY 🌶️ (food pun very much so intended) romance that our cuddly hearts desire, a very good smoldering slow burn🔥 , and it also had the hard truths that so many of us, myself especially, are quick to forget.
Everyone faces hardships in their life. It’s up to us to choose how we allow those moments to influence how we choose to experience life.
I loved the super subtle callbacks to Funny Feelings… it felt like an inside joke and I usually get left out of those so I was really excited to be part of this one. 😂
We definitely need to see more of Wren & Ellis in future books. Their love story has the potential to be my next favorite. 💕I’m a Kindle girlie, and I cannot WAIT to get the hard copy of this one for my book shelf.
I have read all of DeWitt’s novels, but I think Savor It is my favorite. Her characters are relatable, lovable, and feel like they could be your friends. Savor It’s Sage and Fisher feel a bit like rom-com characters who are in on the joke, and DeWitt’s writing injects personality and emotion in a way that doesn’t feel forced or contrived. Overall, a highly readable and likable book. Would recommend as a bookclub book (if your bookclub is cool) or to a friend.
I don’t have words to describe how much I enjoyed every single second of this book. I legitimately do not have one single critique. It’s the perfect rom-com in my eyes. I laughed, I cried, I gasped. I’ve read all of Tarah DeWitt’s books and every time I read one I think, “There is no way this can be better than the last one.” And I am proven wrong. Every. Single. Time. Her writing is beautiful and captivating, and “Savor It” is no exception. Fisher and Sage are absolutely everything. The communication between them throughout the story was perfection and I think something we should all aspire to. When the book is released next year, I’ll add some more detail, but if you are a fan of small town romances and the grumpy x sunshine dynamic, do yourself a favor and add this to your TBR. I promise you won’t be disappointed!
I finished this a day ago, but I needed a day for my emotions to settle to have any chance of writing a review that wasn’t just “AHHHH! ALL THE FEELS! BEST EVER!”
While no book is perfect, this book might be close to MY perfect. Tarah DeWitt is my only auto-buy author, and after having the chance to read this, Tarah has undoubtedly sealed her spot permanently.
Sage and Fisher are utterly precious. Tarah flawlessly created depth in character and relationship without making it forced at any point. There is no forced intimacy, no out of place trauma dumping, and no character info vomit. There is never a moment of “the author just put this in to develop the character.” All of the conversations are wholly authentic and never forced. I don’t know how she’s done it in a book with so few pages. I’ve read 600 page novels with less character development, and yet Sage and Fisher feel like full people in half as many pages.
I feel like the Indy subplot was done really well too. She wasn’t a large part of the story, but I felt like her absence and inclusion were well balanced for an independent teenager. She could have been a more involved part of the story, but I personally liked, while Sage helped them both, Sage and Fisher’s relationship wasn’t centered around the growth of Fisher’s relationship with Indy in any way. Indy had her own growth arc peeking through the sides in a way that felt really natural. You could see it in spurts as her character popped in and out all while her growth never overshadowed or became the focus of the story.
Also, Indy’s relationship with Gary was wonderful. It may have been there for predominantly comedic reasons, but it felt like such a realistic point of connection for a teen in turmoil. Indy makes other relationships throughout the story, but Gary is the one that truly screams “a distrustful, angry teen would totally do this.”
The pacing was flawless. I never got bored or disinterested. It wasn’t “unputdownable,” but I think it was purely because I didn’t want to rush this book. I never felt like things were dragging. I always wanted to ho back to it when I had a moment.
While this wasn’t laugh out loud funny, the comedic moments were always silly, sweet, and endearing. Never cringey. I could list my favorite silly parts, but won’t risk the spoilers!
Spunes is both adorably cliche and yet still entirely unique. You have the “family feel” of a tight knit town, the town hall meetings, and the one outspoken community counsel member, but Spunes still maintained it’s “just another unremarkable town” loved by the people who call it home. The town’s history/competition was also a really fun way to build its backstory I’ve not seen yet.
The theme of the book was obviously to “savor it,” and Tarah did this SO WELL. Never did it feel forced. Never did it feel like just a push for the plot. It was two people learning to choose to savor every moment no matter if the end result isn’t going to be what was hoped for or the ideal.
“Just because you do everything right, even if you know you deserve it, doesn’t mean it will all be perfect in the end. Just because you accomplish a dream doesn’t mean it will make you happy forever. Sometimes wonderful people get sick, and sometimes people who were terrible to you have everything go according to plan. It really is what you do with it, what you take with you when you go to bed at night that counts.”
I found myself trying to savor every moment of this book. Embracing the heartache in circumstances and loving every turn.
I feel so blessed to have been able to read an ARC of this from NetGalley and Tarah DeWitt, but I know I’m going to want to own Savor It. My heart still aches from this story in the best way, and it’s been a privilege to have read and loved this book.
RATING: 4/5 STARS
Look no further than SAVOR IT for a fun, small town rom-com! I would describe this book as the perfect gentle and relaxing summer read. Sage and Fisher's character development and romance were sweet. This novel is definitely on par with Tarah Dewitt's previous!
I have loved Tarah’s books from the first one I read, and they just keep getting better. Her characters are real and relatable, and it is so easy to get lost in them. I would love to see them again in future books!
My loves, Tarah DeWitt is a genius. End of. All of her books make me emotional, kick my feet swooning, and become SO immersed in her writing. It’s that wonderful moment where I forget I’m reading. Savor It does all of that and then some. When I tell you that it is the most perfect mix of beauty, romance with lots of swoon, top tier banter, humor, and emotional weight, I am not exaggerating. Fisher and Sage’s gorgeous love story is one of my new favorites.
So many of my favorite things are in this book. First, the animals. There is a three legged cat named Legoless. My Tolkien and cat loving heart could NOT. There is a whole menagerie at Sage’s house, and it just made me so happy. I got misty eyed over a goose. What makes it next level is they are all animals that needed help and found their way to Sage and her huge heart. Second, the food. Fisher is a chef, and the food porn in this is AMAZING. It got me so inspired to get into the kitchen, and I was so hungry reading this book. I very much understood his professional struggles, too. We also have the single guardian and small town tropes, which I adore. Fisher has taken in his niece Indy after tragedy, and Spunes is its own glorious character in the book. It’s refreshing that this story doesn’t shy away from talking about the darker aspects of small town living though. It makes it much more multi-faceted.
The sheer volume of hilarious puns and wordplay had me cackling, right from the beginning. We love a book that’s clever as anything. Then on the flip side, it has such beautiful discourse surrounding grief, loss, what success means for different people, and how vital it is to be present and enjoy the small things, rather than forever chasing the next milestone. Both Fisher and Sage are a little adrift and broken, and what they find in themselves and each other in this book is stunning. It’s a call to slow down life and truly Savor It.
Another excellent book by Tarah DeWitt! The characters were so beautifully written and I found myself both tearing up and laughing multiple times throughout Sage and Fisher’s story. One of my favorite things about Tarah’s writing is how she balances the sweetness and comfort of an HOA with the reality of human struggles and the challenges of navigating life and relationships. I feel like I go to therapy with each book and understand a bit more about nuances of characteristics and give myself and those around me a bit more grace as a result. Life is hard, people!
I am now in need of a pet goose and I dearly hope we get to spend much more time in Spunes 😄!
I’m obsessed. After finishing Tarah DeWitt last year she has become an auto buy author for me. This books has everything. The sass, the tension, the cute animals, the nostalgic references and three people who just want to find peace and a community to understand them. Not only is this a story between Sage and Fisher, but Fisher and Indy as well as they navigate their new status quo of guardian and niece and their unresolved grief that lead them here. I’m in love with everything about this book and can’t wait to own a physical copy
Once again Tarah Dewitt weaves a story with humor, depth, and a little spice. Her attention to detail is impeccable and the way she crafts these personalities makes these characters bury themselves in your heart right off the bat. I love her work and I can’t wait to read what she dreams up next!
