Breathtaking. Emotional. An absolute masterpiece.

Tarah Dewitt’s trad debut sparkles with witt, humor, poignancy, and heart. She has created a world that leaves you breathless and Spunes, Oregon is a small town that definitely leaves a mark.

Sage is so achingly relatable you almost have to look away from the pages. Fisher is wounded but has so much love to give. And when these two come together it is magic! And the side characters — explosive in their own right! (We get swoony moments between our main characters and some secondary as well that will have you expiring from the romance of it all!)

And can we talk about Tarah’s ability to write not just romantic love stories, but the way in which she tackles self-love stories and journeys? It feels unmatched. And that’s not even touching on her descriptions that require you to still yourself to take it all in.

This book is beyond great storytelling, it’s memorable and indelible.

(And someone get me a Gary the Goose t-shirt please?!)

*tap tap tap IS THIS THING ON?!? 🎙️ I'm finally able to talk about it. Let's talk about it.

Because Holy Forking. Spunes. I've been sitting on this bad boy piece of information for weeks. This goddamn masterpiece is Tarah DeWitt's best work (and that's coming from ME- Funny Feeling's #1 hype-woman). To read a Tarah DeWitt novel is like coming home… 🫶🏼 She wrote this novel like the rent was due. She threw everything she had into Fisher "YES CHEF" Lange. I read it in less than 24 hours, but make no mistake, I still managed to Savor It. 🤭🥁 I wake up every day thanking whatever deity that possessed Tarah to write small town romance (or even write/publish. PERIOD.) because wow. That's about as coherent as my thoughts are currently... Possibly a better review closer to pub date (Sorry about this, Tarah. lol)

The quintessential small town romance that ticks all the warm and fuzzy boxes with a healthy balance of humor and gravitas. The two main characters are incredibly relatable and you instantly feel for them. What I loved most about this book is that DeWitt didn’t shy away from characters with serious emotional backgrounds; it created so much depth and history. A slow cooked stew, if you will, and I savored every second of it.
