This was my first Tarah Dewitt book but I'm excited to read more by this author! This book was so cute, and I loved the Pacific Northwest, small town setting. I enjoyed that this town wasn't a real place but was described so beautifully and detailed that I could imagine myself there. The residents were so fun, and I hope for future interconnected standalones so I can get more of their stories.
Sage was a small town teacher who reminded me of myself in that she found happiness in the small things. Fisher was a big city chef struggling with burnout, which was also relatable as someone who has experienced burn out in my career. This opposites attract was so fun. I appreciated that we got both of their POVs because it made the characters feel alive. I also really enjoyed that their romance was a slow burn that grew in a way that felt natural.
I did feel like the pacing was off a bit at the beginning and end of the book. It was a bit slow at times in the beginning, but this made the ending feel especially rushed.
But I really loved how complex emotional topics were handled. The depiction of burnout felt realistic and the depiction of grief was handled very well. It was beautiful to see how the characters supported each other through this journey of healing.
This was an absolute delight. If you are looking for a cute smalltown romance with a adorable animals, canoe riding, and a grumpy chef, this is the one for you. Friendship, romance, parenting, and small town gossip.
Tropes: summer vibes, smalltown, opposites attract, grumpy/sunshine, forced proximity, single parent (guardian), chef x teacher, fake dating, friends with benefits, self discovery, slow burn.
Sage is such a strong minded character. I don’t know that I could be as bright as her after going through her situation (especially in a small town!) Her humor and charm were delightfully sassy. I would have hid in my house for the rest of the summer after the first time Fisher was harsh. The characters had real depth to them and could feel their existence even when they weren’t directly on the page. This was my first Tarah DeWitt book so now I have to go read them all!
Thank you to NetGalley for an early copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!
3.5⭐️ only because it took me so long to finish. This book had a challenging start, I only really got into it at around 60% but the last 40% was magical.
I wish I liked this book more in the beginning because I loved Fisher and Sage. They were so special, it just took me a while to see it.
Savor It was a beautiful, tender romance with a wonderful cast of characters. I loved Sage and Fisher both so much, individually and as a couple. Fisher is a struggling chef from New York City, who has been sent to the small-town of Spunes, Oregon with his teenage niece. Sage has lived in Spunes her entire life. She is a high school teacher and has a hobby farm with a hilarious group of animals. Sage and Fisher have both experienced great loss and have been through personal struggles. Even though they are very different, the way they supported each other was really beautiful.
I loved the slower pacing of the book and even though Fisher and Sage are only supposed to have the summer together, it didn’t feel rushed. Their friendship and then romantic relationship felt so natural and soft, but still full of chemistry and humor. If you enjoy small-town settings with adorable animal sidekicks, I highly recommend this book.
4.25⭐
Small town rom-com with heart to spare with underlay of moving on from grief. Fisher, a big city chef who left NYC after losing his Michelin star and his job, comes to Spunes, Oregon. Hoping to reignite his love of cooking, but most importantly Fisher hopes to get closer to his teenage niece grieving from the loss of her mom. Sage is the small town sunshine girl with a heart of gold who is afraid she is never enough. Story is well told and full of banter and heart melting affirmations. Hoping this will turn into a series telling the stories of Sage's brothers. And just look at that gorgeous cover!
This started super slow for me. It felt like nothing was happening, and the plot barely moved forward until about 70%. I really enjoyed Sage and Fisher's banter right away, though! I loved that it started off as super grumpy/sunshine, but the more time they spent together, the more Fisher opened up and relaxed. I also love that this is basically a single dad trope, and watching Fisher and Indy's relationship evolve from barely speaking to leaning on each other at the end is truly heartwarming. I basically sobbed my way from 80% on, and my eyes are swollen, and I'm so stuffed up I can barely breathe. Naturally, I highly recommend reading this, if only to sob your way to the end like I did 🤪🤭
Savor It is hilarious and heartfelt and one of my favorite romances of the year. Impeccably written, I couldn't put down this delightfully zany and sweet romcom from one of my favorite authors.I swooned hard for Sage and Fisher, from their adorable first meeting to that absolutely perfect ending. Add in a quirky town, some perfectly offbeat animals and some family dynamics, this is a perfect feel-good summer romance.
Another romcom set on a farm! Yes I’m on a roll.
This was so good! I love a good book where the characters know how to communicate!! It’s all I ask for and Ms. DeWitt delivered!
The town of Spunes was giving me Star Hollow vibes and I love that. The town people were all so fun.
I need more books set in this town.
I laughed and cried which is how you know this is worth the read.
This is my first book by this author but it definitely won’t be the last.
This book was amazing!!! I enjoyed reading it and I was engaged the whole way through. Thank you so much NetGalley for the copy.
My first Tarah Dewitt read and certainly not my last!
The small town vibes and setting were excellent and the characters were so endearing, the banter and chemistry between the two leads were wonderful. I loved the character development, especially within Sage, I felt like I could relate to a lot of aspects of her character and it made reading the story so much more powerful to me.
I loved the progression of the relationship between Sage and Fisher as well as the personalities of all of the side characters. The complexity of the plotline itself also surprised me in a good way, I didn't expect to get a bit emotional at points but it made the reading experience all the more memorable to me. Such a wonderful read, I’m excited to read more from Tarah DeWitt in the future!
I loved this book so much. This was so sweet and everything I look for in a small town romance. I bounced back and forth between reading this and listening to the audio and it was such an easy read. I absolutely adored Sage. She is the type of woman that I would find myself wanting to be friends with. She is strong willed, funny, caring, and just honestly a good character. I equally loved Fisher, and loved the way he really tried to understand his emotions and was doing his best trying to raise his niece. And he is. chef...YES PLEASE
This was honestly just so a great book. I loved the mental health rep. It seems like just a simple small town story, but there is so much more in depth to this story of difficult things that our main character need to over come. This is a perfect rainy day read or beach read!
This was my first read by Tarah DeWitt, and it will absolutely not be my last!!
I fell hard for this story very, very fast. Sage is such a charming main character, she has the most adorable and human quirks that made her seem so real to me. I loved her humor, and how she always is able to take difficult comments from people around her in stride, and notice when other's reactions are not about her when they are coming from a place of pain. This is a lesson I really work on it myself, and seeing it playing out this way really resonated with me. Let me elaborate:
Both Sage and Fisher are facing some really difficult life lessons throughout this story. For Sage, a lot of this comes from old wounds, but ones she is still navigating. Fisher has more recently had his life turned upside down, and he makes some very understandable, grumpy-human comments that come from a place of pain. He has baggage with small towns, and he lets that come out at inopportune times (and always learns from these mistakes). Sage is always able to look at other's pain through an incredibly empathetic lens, and she knows how to de-center herself when she could otherwise take offense. This dynamic between them is so healing and beautiful for them both, and I think it added something so organic to their chemistry. And good LORD, the CHEMISTRY! It's off the charts, completely squirm and squeal worthy from their very first kiss. They also had me laughing out loud in one moment and then clutching my chest with warm fuzzy feelings in the next. They are absolutely a new favorite of mine.
The setting is also absolutely immaculate: small town in the Pacific Northwest surrounded by hills and mountains, preparing for the annual summer festival that is chalk full of events with the personal touch that only comes with a small town. We have so much charming history to explore, and so many quirky neighbors to meet. All of this thrown together with Sage's mishmash of a flower but also animal farm just made for the best reading experience.
I will be picking up this author's previous work as soon as possible, and I am so honored Mohave been able to ARC read this story. Thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the digital copy!
Tarah DeWitt is the person you pick up when you want to be taken to a magical land of romance. Savor it was no different. I LOVED THIS main character, anyone who is about animals and gardening gets an A+ in my book. I loved all the food and the batter of these two. Run don't walk for this one.
Tropes:
-Opposites Attract
-Forced Proximity
-Small Town
-Neighbor
Arc received from the publisher; all thoughts and opinions are my own.
A sweet and spicy love story! I really enjoyed it and loved their back and forth! I loved learning about each of their lives and the hardships and wins they had gone through. It made their relationship a lot more meaningful.
CW: it is open door and lots of swears
What a spectacular gem of a story this one is! Whoever said this is Stars Hollow in book form was right on the money -- it's got everything: charming and relatable main characters, great banter, dynamic setting, a supporting cast full of great energy, and a romance that made me cry and swoon and laugh and cheer. Can't wait to get a copy for my personal library. Thanks, NetGalley and the publisher!
Not going to lie, I picked Savor It because I loved the beautiful cover and the story did not disappoint. This was my first book by Tarah DeWitt and I loved it. But I’m kind of a sucker for small town romances.
It has everything I love…

Opposites attract✔️
Friends to lovers✔️
Such a cute book.
Thanks to NetGalley and St Martin’s Griffin for a chance to read an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
I really loved this contemporary slow-burn romance from Tarah! This book has small town shenanigans and quirks, opposites attract, friends with benefits (though the spice is low), BANTER, flirting, and the two main characters are actual adults who communicate in a healthy and mature with each other - hallelujah no miscommunication tropes to be found :) There is a depth in their story, and you get to see the two main characters support one another as they deal with the complexities of their own lives. It's a lovely romance and you'll feel like you want to hang out with these people and spend some time in Spunes.
I loved this book, SO swoony and sweet and sexy and fun. And has there ever been a hotter chef, really?
This was my first book by Tarah, and I really enjoyed it! I love a good single dad/guardian, and, despite the rough start, Fisher really stepped up to be there for his niece, Indy. After a bit of a rough spot in his career, Fisher finds himself and Indy on the west coast in Spunes, Oregon as he tries to help his previous employer open a new restaurant while his image recovers. He and small towns don't have the best history, so he doesn't plan on being in Spunes any longer than needed, but what Fisher doesn't plan on is his animal loving (and collecting) neighbor, Sage, burrowing herself into his heart.
Fisher and Sage were so sweet together, and I loved their playful relationship and all the puns. This summertime fling was simply a delight that really pulled at my emotions, and on top of it all, it included a wonderful secondary cast of furry and feathery characters! I do hope we get to see more of Sage's brothers and best friend Wren in the future.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
