I liked this one. It was my first book by the author. Fisher and Sage were wonderful characters. After Fisher loses his job as a Michelin chef and becomes guardian of his niece. They move to a small town of Spunes for the summer. There they meet Sage and the townfolk of Spunes.

Sage was very likable. A very easy going, generous and caring person. I loved her love of all animals. She made friends with Indy so easily. I felt Sage chemistry with Fisher. It was a really slow burn. Some parts did drag for me. Fisher was very relatable. He wasn't sure how to handle everything with work and Indy. He wanted the best for the both of them. His inner struggles were understandable. The last part with the book I thought some of the quotes were so true and it made me understand Sage even more. Overall, if you like small town romances check this out!

Thank you Netgalley and St. Martins for an ARC copy of this book. This was an honest review.

This book lacked any real excitement. Our heroine Sage was a little too quirky with her attire and then she just lacked personality. Even for small town standards, the characters were a bit noisy.Fisher was the bright light. His handling of grief and caring for his niece made his character seem realistic. His struggles as a chef seemed genuine to me. Given the book's title, I would have liked to see more food descriptions. His going to this small town to help launch this restaurant should have led to him becoming the chef. There was a slow pacing and I found it less enjoyable than expected.

I got to approximately 63% of the book and felt as though nothing really exciting was happening. I wasn’t super invested in the story, the characters or their growth. I really thought I would love this book but sadly I just lost interest. I still plan on finishing it one day and I will come back and amend this review if I do.
Thank you for the opportunity to read and review Savor It by Tarah DeWitt.

Thank you to the publisher for giving me the chance to read a digital copy of Savor It by Tarah DeWitt! I had previously read Funny Feelings, and I must admit, that I didn't really enjoy it. I have realized I am not a fan of the "female in stand up comedy" trope, although there were some aspects of the book that I liked. I saw a lot of "rave reviews" for Savor It, and naturally, the FOMO struck, so I decided to give this one a try. I ended up really enjoying this book! I don't know what it was about this one, but I can definitely see why people are enjoying it. It was sweet and swoony, and had everything in it that I enjoy in a good contemporary romance. I will definitely recommend this one to friends!

This was my first Tarah DeWitt book and I can 100% assure you it will not be my last. This book was absolutely phenomenal. I had seen this book floating around Bookstagram and with so many stellar reviews I knew I needed to read it. I am so glad I did.

Sage is the quirky, small town girl-next-door with a menagerie of animals and an actual heart of gold. Fisher is a big city chef staying in Spunes, Oregon for the summer to redeem himself. This may sound like your generic rom-com, but I can assure you that it’s not.

The chemistry between Fisher and Sage is mesmerizing and begins as soon as they meet. It literally jumps off the page. You are left rooting for these characters from the moment you meet them. I literally found myself shouting “kiss” every time they were together in the book.

I loved that both characters had their own journeys they had to go through. Sage needed to realize that no one should want to change her, that she is loveable just as she is. Fisher’s road to redemption and finding the things (and the people) that truly matter is heart wrenching and so full of possibilities.

My most favorite part of this story is that I think readers will see a little part of themselves in both main characters (and a few side characters as well). This book and this story just feel so real and authentic. I really never wanted it to end.

I had the pleasure of also listening to the audio while I read and it is also amazing. The narrators for Sage and Fisher’s points of view were SPOT ON.

You really can’t go wrong with this book, no matter how you read it.

I really enjoyed this book! I flew through it. I felt transported into the small town of Spunes, with its quirky inhabitants. There’s plenty of personal growth, especially for Fisher, alongside the steamy romance. It’s clear from the beginning what the third act conflict will be, and how it ends up resolving felt sort of unsatisfying. I think Fisher needed some more time figuring himself out and the short period of time navigating the relationship with his niece felt unfinished. I think this would be a great summer read to pick up if you enjoy small town romance. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to provide my honest review.

Sage and Fisher may be some of my favorite fictional characters ever. They were so real, with flaws and quirks and healing and grief. I loved their banter and ability to see beyond the surface of each other.

Fisher has recently lost his job, a Michelin Star, and also gained custody of his teenage niece. His life is in shambles, and he is sent to the small coastal town of Spunes to help create a menu for a new restaurant opening there. He meets Sage, the spunky neighbor with a heart the size of Texas, a literal farm of random abandoned animals that needed a home, and a flower garden. They decide to help each other out in true small-town fashion. Fisher is going to help her with a town competition, and in exchange, she’s going to help him with his menu.

My only complaint is that I feel like I was much more invested in the first half of the book than the last 30%. That could be a me problem, it just wasn’t making me giggle and kick my feet like the first half did! Overall, I loved it. I cried. I laughed. And I love these characters!

Swoony, steamy, and heart achingly sweet.

This is the comforting small town romance I didn’t know I needed. A perfect blend of what is so lovable about hallmark movies, without too much cheesy melodrama. Believable characters and a sweet slow build, everything about reading this was exactly what the title implies. A treat, something to savor.

Fisher, a hotshot chef from New York, who is not doing so hot. His niece has moved in and he lost a Michelin star. He's given a second chance helping his boss set up a new restaurant in small town Spunes, Oregon over the summer. Sage has grown up in Spunes her whole life, and although she loves it, she does not love all the pitying looks she still gets after her five year relationship with the town's golden boy ends, followed quickly by his engagement!
When Fisher rents the house next to Sage they strike up a deal for Sage to help get through some roadblocks with the new restaurant and Fisher to help win a competition at the annual Festival of Spunes. With late night 911 calls, baby goats, wounds being healed, an infatuated goose, a bit of sage advice, and a lot of romance, their summer gets a lot more interesting! But just like always, soon the end of summer is fast approaching and decisions have to be made.
This is a fun small town, big feelings, quirky character romance story, and my first by @authortarahdewitt!
I unfortunately finished it after publication day, but that just means you can go ahead and grab it now!
Thank you to @netgalley for providing me with a free advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

My gosh Tarah!! Fisher and Sage are TL DIE FOR. The banter. The chemistry. WOW. I loved this book with my whole heart. Sage was relatable. Fisher was swoon worthy. Watching them form an unusual friendship between a struggling chef, and small town farmer.I loved the banter and her brothers being brothers. It felt like a breath of fresh air to me! I did not want to put this book down. I will definitely be reading more by Tarah. If you want quirky characters, complex life situations, witty banter, and hot hot spice, this is the book for you!

Will be posted to instagram as well. Date TBD.

This is Tarah’s best book yet and that’s saying something because Funny Feelings is one of my favorite books last year! Savor It was all about living in the present and enjoying the moment and we truly need more books to highlight this the way Tarah did because it’s such an important message and it was told in such a beautiful way in this book! The characters just spoke to me and the way they were with each other *chef’s kiss* Tarah’s writing continues to grow and I cannot wait to see how far she soars but in the meanwhile, I truly will be savoring this book. There’s so much to cherish in this one that I’m not ready to let them go! Thank you for the advanced copy!

Grumpy Sunshine is my kryptonite. If you’re like me, then you’ll eat this up.
Fisher is our grumpy chef from NYC and Sage is a our ray of sunshine gardener and lover of animals. Indy is Fisher’s angsty teenage niece of his late sister. He and Indy healing and figuring out their life together is such a beautiful journey, and adding Sage into with her past was such a help to them. She was everything they didn’t know they needed, along with the small town. But of course it takes them time and mistakes to figure that out. Also Indy’s relationship with Gary is everything. (IYKYK) - If you don’t know - you must read to find out.

Tarah has mastered the ability to create such empathy with her characters. With her dual POV, we are brought into their minds; their hopes, dreams, fears… I’ve read all four of her books, and I’ve had a visceral reaction every time. I laugh, I cry, my heart breaks and it stitches itself together again. Fisher and Sage did the same as Farley and Meyer, Tait and Henry, and LaRynn and Deacon... pulling me in with their relatability and vulnerability and creating that emotional connection to them and the story.
If you know your enneagram, I would say Sage is a 2. The helper. The one who wants to support everyone. And she's good at it. She knows how to give people exactly what they need. Sage comes alongside them and provides opportunities for distraction or a shoulder to lean on. She is incredibly intuitive and both Fisher and Indy find comfort with Sage.

Tropes/Themes:
-MF contemporary romance
-Friends to lovers
-Grump x Sunshine
-Close proximity (he’s renting the house next to hers)
-Single “parent” (hero is caring for his niece after his sister’s death)
-Small town
-Dual POV
-Standalone

What a fun summer read!! Definitely my favorite Tarah Dewitt book to date, it had such sweet and cozy vibes. Don’t let that or the cover fool you, this deals with some heavier themes so be mindful of some of the content warnings below. I usually don’t enjoy “funny” books, but I thought the comedic timing was executed well here and wasn’t over the top. My only issue was that I wish there had been more relationship development between Fisher and his niece Indy.

CWs for death of a loved one, car accident (not depicted on page), grief/loss, injury related to a fire

Big thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review! I ended up holding off until the audiobook dropped to read this because Zachary Webber is everything.
