What a romantic, small-town novel. The atmosphere is perfectly cozy. Sage and Fischer’s story unfolds into a love story filled with humor and emotional moments. I really felt for Sage and Fischer as they dealt with their respective challenges. I loved the community. While quirky, it had all the makings of town you’d like to stay a little longer in.
This is a book I finished back in September and totally forgot to write a review for it, and I sadly don’t remember too much right now. But I now that I really enjoyed and finished in just about a day.
The hero and his sister really toyed with my heart strings and I loved seeing the hero realize how much his sister actually needed him
Romance books own my heart and soul. I love the meet cutes. I love the anticipation of the first touch or kiss. I love the passion and desire. Lots of romance books do that well and are perfectly enjoyable reads; however, it takes a special romance book to engage my feelings. To make me root for the characters so much that I cry when they struggle. To have me so emotionally invested, that I cry when they succeed. Savor It is one such special book.
How does Savor It do this? By giving the characters realistic backstories that form who they are. By allowing the characters to be vulnerable with one another in organic ways. This book had me questioning if I should be having more heart-to-hearts with friends and family. I loved the small town environment and the charm of Sage and her farm.
This book was just so incredibly special. It moved at an appropriate pace with both plot and emotional beats. I thought the composition was well rounded. I was never bored or confused about where the story was going.
Ultimately, this is a small town romance about two people who find understanding and home in one another. I want a love like this.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an e-arc in exchange for my honest review.
this was such a cute book I adored everything about it! the main characters I just want to give them a giant hug I’m so serious! loved seeing their story play out and be along for the journey highly recommend!
In Savor It, Tarah DeWitt gives us a cozy, heartwarming story about Sylvie, a chef returning to her hometown, and Wyatt, a rugged, grumpy farmer who’s tough to crack. Their chemistry is magnetic—slow-burn, laced with humor and emotional depth. DeWitt’s writing makes small-town life come alive, with quirky side characters and rich, sensory descriptions that make Sylvie’s world feel so real. If you’re a fan of patient, feel-good romances that simmer and satisfy, this one’s worth a read!
I enjoyed the small town setting, the animals, the humor, the angsty teen, and the journal 🥹 Sage and Fisher had really great tension and chemistry, and I loved how they both went through their own character development apart and together. It was a very healing story!
4.5/5 Stars
Thank you to St Martin’s Press and Macmillan Audio for providing me with an arc and ALC.
I didn’t know what to really expect going into this as I hadn’t read anything from Tarah DeWitt before this but I absolutely ate this book up. It was just a fun read and I loved the small town vibes plus both of the characters learning more of who they are after major life changes. The Spice was great and the romance was adorable. I can’t put this one down and it was the perfect audiobook listen for what I wanted.
Sage has lived in Spunes, Oregon her whole life and she has come to love her small town, misfit animals, and the people in it. But when her ex suddenly ends their 5 year relationship and ends up getting engaged fast, she needs a way to convince those around her she is okay and what better way than to find a partner of her own? Fisher is now responsible for his niece after his sister suddenly passes away and he wasn’t prepared to be parenting a teenager. So when he loses his michelin star, his boss banishes him to Spunes to find himself and consult on a new restaurant. But small towns don’t like when outsides come to “fix up” things so he needs a way to improve his standing in the community. What better way than to make a deal with a beautiful woman like Sage to help each other out… which eventually may lead to feelings neither is prepared for.
Sage is known for taking in misfits whether it is a disabled animal or now a man who has lost his way after horrible events. She needs a partner for a competition but also needs a way to get everyone to stop pitying her for her Ex leaving her and finding someone else so fast. Fisher’s whole world has been turned up side down repeatedly so when someone reaches out a helping hand he has to take it to stop drowning in everything. Both of them are learning who they are after big events and I loved how Sage was with Fisher’s niece.
I really do recommend this one if you want a fun fast paced summer read. The narrators were great and kept me engaged the entire time which is rare.
I LOOOOOOVED this book!
It’s such a hallmark movie. Big time chef from NYC loses his sister in an accident, and it causes his life to completely fall apart. With his niece now in his care, and fired from his job, he’s sent to a small town to help with a new restaurant and get his life back.
Of course there is a quirkily beautiful woman who wears eccentric robes and owns a bunch of random animals and loves to garden who lives across the meadow and is able to magically help him connect with his niece.
It’s wildly predictable but SO COZY, and you just fall in love with the characters and the small town and all the things you’re expecting to happen. It’s well written and adorable and such a feel good read.
If you love rom-coms and cooking and fancy food and Hallmark movies, you’ll love this book.
Thank you @netgalley and @stmartinspress for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.
Such a cute & funny small-town romance. If you like Ali Hazelwood, you'll also really like Tarah DeWitt. Even though romance isn't my usual reading taste, I enjoyed this realistic romance set in the Pacific Northwest.
This was such a cute romance. I hadn't read any Tarah DeWitt before so I was excited to try. I think I picked this book based on the colors on the cover and then was interested in the storyline. Looking forward to what Tarah writes next.
This was a perfect small-town romance; complete with meddling townspeople, town-wide meetings, and adorable animals. The characters felt very fleshed out and real, and it was easy to empathize with the things going on in their lives. If I could, I would move to Spunes immediately!
This was my first book by Tarah Dewitt but it will not be my last. I absolutely breezed through this book. I loved the interactions between all the characters and the scenes with Sage's animals!
Thank you to netgalley for the arc!
I thoroughly enjoyed this small-town romance set on the cliffs of the PNW. Sage and Fisher are immediately attracted but with an impending "summers-end" timeline they try to keep it casual. Sage's sweetness and band of misfit animals are impossible to not fall for and Fisher's broken but beautiful heart calls to her need to help. They collide as two separate, lonely, shooting stars and burn brighter and stronger together. I love found family and knowing a group of people so well that you never truly have to go through things alone. Spunes is community full of characters that will resonate with readers. I'd love to read a second-chance romance with Ellis and Wren! It was hard to not hope for their reconciliation when you can see the history and heart there. There's promise for a next-gen offshoot as well with Indy and Sam, if the author wanted to extend the fictional town of Spunes into new stories (which I would absolutely read)!
Thank you to the author and publisher for this free copy.
This follows Fisher, a Michelin-starred, recently-fired chef helping his ex-boss with a summer project in hopes of getting back in her good graces. He is setting up a restaurant in a small town in Oregon and has brought his new charge, his niece, to live with him after her mom passed. Sage is managing the rental home as well as a farm and a classroom of kids. Luckily, it's summer break.
Their romantic journey is with plenty of real-life problems that are dealt with in a realistic way. These characters are more than two shiny leads. They're people with pasts and flaws and uncertainty about what to do next. It's difficult to suspend disbelief for the grand gesture in many of these types of stories, but this one is backed by foreshadowing and life-lessons picked up throughout the chapters.
i loved this! If you're a fan of love stories, you won't want to miss it. I especially loved the roles Sage's animals held. They're some of my favorite characters in the book, particularly Gary.
It took me a little while to warm up to the characters (I felt like I was introduced like 20 people within the first two chapters), but once the story got rolling, the town of Spunes and its residents were easy to love. DeWitt had many one-liner and descriptions that kept me smiling throughout the book.
“The kid is as tall as I am, but looks like he’s been put through a pasta maker to get that way.”
“Fisher, I’ll be happy to listen to your origin story after, but right now, we’re discussing canoes.”
“And by the way, your nipple slipped out of your bikini top…”
Loved that Fisher had earrings. You don’t see that in your hot MMC very often.
Sage is the perfect level of quirkiness. Comes across as so sincere in her interests and devotions.
Watching these two dance around each other - the banter - was *chef’s kiss* excellent.
I loved Funny Feelings, but had a hard time connecting with the story in The Co-op. Savor It brings back the charming, sweet heat that I enjoyed so much in Funny Feelings. This is the Tarah DeWitt I love to read. Very warm. Very funny.
Another win by Tarah DeWitt! Fisher and Sage were both such interesting characters who I felt connected with immediately. Sage was such an animated character who jumped off the page with enthusiasm and gumption. Fisher was quite the opposite as he tried to deal with past demons, loss and figuring out fatherhood to his niece. I love how natural they seemed together from the very start. And how they never seemed to judge one another or hold things against each other but would wait for the other to open up about what was going on. Their relationship felt mature and realistic. The small town vibes are always something I love, especially if you add in a competition. How everything ended with Indy and Fisher brought me so much joy, to see them putting one another's needs ahead of their own and really becoming a unit.
If there are no Tara’s Dewitt fans in this world please know that I was the last one standing before being taken out. My god she has a way with words. The genius sense of humor paired with bone shredding emo feels are a whiplash I will sign up for again and again because HOLY GEEZ is it so good. Fisher and Sage are just SO PUREEEEE. Love
This was such a sweet book that’s filled with so many tropes I love: small town, grumpy x sunshine, slow burn, friends to lovers, spice, dual pov.
The town where this took place was so well described that I could picture myself standing there as everything happened in the book.
You root for these characters and feel along with this. Such a cute story.
This is an emotional roller coaster between a big city chef who had his orphaned niece to take care of. While this is a romance, it is so much more, It brings you on an emotional journey of grief, friendship, and love. While delivering small town Stars Hollow vibes.
Take my word, you’re going to want to Savor It..
My first Tarah DeWitt book. I love that it was set in PNW!! The premise is exactly my cup to tea. Sage and Fisher's story was cozy but still hard hitting.
