Tarah DeWitt has a captivating writing style that is just so easy to read. Combined with the on-point narrative voices of Karissa Vacker and Zachary Webber it was so much fun to listen too.

I'm a fan of small-town romance just for the cozy vibes and how the characters play out in that setting. The MMC heads from New York and seeing his change of heart towards the new setting was heartwarming. Sage struck me as a particularly humorous character because of her comedic timing. She's hilarious and so perfect. I remember being in a mall and just grinning to myself at this ridiculously funny scene. It's the way the dialogues are written so thoughtfully to spotlight some tough topics and make them lighter.

When I say I detest going over the initial chapters of a book most of the time, I mean it, and it's shocking how the beginning was the most enjoyable part of this book. All those scenes are so fresh and vivid, I couldn't have hoped for a better first meet with the MCs. Such a brilliant book, I promise you will literally savor it!

Sage is an English teacher living in small-town Spunes, Oregon with her variety of pets and general life satisfaction. Fisher is a burnt-out chef moving to Spunes for the summer from NYC with his niece, with an opportunity to plan a new restaurant menu and help with final stages of the spot's development. Neighbors for the summer, Fisher continues to find himself in places where he needs Sage's help. So naturally, they find ways to make their relationship mutually beneficial.

I find that Tarah Dewitt's characters are so loveable and honest, and they always tell a great story. This was no different. Towards the end, I did get tired of how many times they slipped in the phrase "Savor It," but that is likely a ME thing. The book also handled grief well, and normalized talking about therapy, which is awesome!

CW: grief, wildfires, fire injury, hospital, sexual content

Chef Fisher Lange and niece Indy move to a small town next door to neighbor and sweetheart Sage Byrd as a consult for a new restaurant. This is just something he needs to clear his mind and get his groove back after the death of his sister. While Sage is recovering from her last relationship who apparently is now engaged to someone else, she doesn’t realize how much she falls into step with Fisher and Indy. Will this temporary friendship turned more become permanent?

This was my first Dewitt book and I liked it. It’s been a while since I’ve read a small town romance, so I was invested, though I must say the first half dragged a bit for me. I enjoyed all the small town elements, side characters, and Indy’s role in Sage and Fisher’s relationship. I will definitely be reading more of Dewitt!

I mainly listened to this one and the dual POV narration was excellent.

i LOVED this book!!! this will unquestionably be in my top 5 romances for the year. sage and fisher are one of my favorite book couples ever, i love them so much. i thought the way tara included so many neat cooking details into this to flesh out fisher’s character as a chef was really well done and fun. of course i adore sage - who wouldn’t love that beautiful, whimsical, animal-loving gem of a human being. i’m always gonna be a sucker for the small town romance, and spunes was just wonderful. i loved the connections between the characters and the found family feel in the way the town support a the byrds. also — i really enjoyed learning the story about freya so that we got a better understanding of indy and fisher, both as individuals and in relation to one another. this story was emotional but also light and sweet, and i loved every bit of it.

"Savor It" was such an engaging and charming read, I found it to be unputdownable and read it cover to cover in one session!

This book had everything that I love about a small town romance packed in it. A love story that will tug at your heartstrings, genuine and memorable characters and a strong sense of community.

I really enjoyed reading Sage and Fisher's story and think this would be a great addition to anyone's TBR.

Thank you Tarah Dewitt, Net Galley and St. Martin's Press for providing me with an ARC of this book!

This book is the perfect summer rom-com that's much more than a typical rom-com. Yes it's fun, yes it makes you kick your feet in the air and giggle, but it's so much more than that. So often we're found with FMCs that feel like they're "missing" something in their lives. Whether it's a partner or a better job or more friends, but that's not the case with Sage. Sage is so happy with her life as it is, and it's established very early on in the book that she loves her life, even if some people may consider it small and boring its not small and boring to HER. And Fisher doesn't give off a grumpy "I hate everyone" vibe, he gives off a "I know I need to change, I'm trying so hard for the people around me but also for me." Maybe it's because I'll never consider myself a city girl, but I love Spunes. I love that Tara touched on why people may not like small towns.

Overall this book was exactly what I needed at the moment. Thank you to the publisher and Tara for a chance to read and review <3

✨Savor It by Tarah Dewitt (Out Now)✨
This was the cutest small-town romance that I think will appeal to many readers. Sage and Fisher form an alliance to compete in the town’s summer competition. This was filled with excellent side characters and a lot of heart!

'Savor It' is such a good book! There are so many gems packed into Fisher and Sage's story. It is fitting that the main female character's name is Sage, as she is certainly wise. This is my first read by Tarah Dewitt, and it won't be the last.

This story's characters are well-developed, believable, and incredibly relatable. Both Fisher and Sage have emotional wounds and baggage to work through. Fisher has suffered a great loss, making him incapable of moving forward and deciding what he wants for his life. He struggles with grief and finding what makes him happy again while trying to navigate a new life with his teenage niece, Indy. Sage is dealing with heartbreak but does everything possible to enjoy life as best she can. She pours love into the Spunes community and her animals but sometimes fails to give that same love to herself.

Fisher and Sage were perfect together. Their chemistry was amazing, and I loved their banter. They developed a deep and emotional connection that was beautiful to witness. They became each other's comfort zone, helping each other heal while becoming better versions of themselves. Their love story elicits so many emotions. There were happy moments that made me swoon, moments that made me laugh out loud, and moments that made me cry.

'Savor It' is beautifully written. It reminds us to savor everything in life and make the most of each day. I thoroughly enjoyed this phenomenal story and can't wait to read more from Tarah Dewitt.

NARRATION:
I cannot express how much I enjoyed the narration. Karissa Vacker and Zachary Webber did a fantastic job with this story and these characters. These narrators are new to me, and this was one of the best audiobooks I've ever listened to. Karissa and Zachary gave so much personality to the characters and brought them to life. Their highly entertaining performance made it impossible for me to stop listening to this story.

Thanks to Tarah Dewitt, SMP Romance, Macmillan Audio, and NetGalley for the #gifted advanced digital copy and audiobook.

I really wanted to love this one, but it wasn't for me. I found the alternating POVs to be confusing because the voices were very similar. Additionally, not much happened. I also didn't feel like there was much chemistry between the main love interests.

“I promise I’ll make it quick.”
"What if I don’t like it, sage? What if I prefer to savor things. Want it good and slow and drawn out?”

"You once told me you thought you were a lot of nots. I want you to know that to me, you’re everything. I love that you’re full of terrible puns that you’re not afraid to follow with profound wisdom. You’re all the shapes made perfectly to hold me, and you’re all my favorite colors. You’re definitely my favorite flavor.”

I loved this book! I was right away drawn into the story and wanted to keep reading more about Fisher moving to Sage’s hometown with his niece, Indy. I loved how Tara really captured the small town essence and all the country vibes. It’s quite rare for me to truly fall in love with a heroine, but I freaking love Sage! I love the way she is always helpful and caring of others and their feelings, how she’s always is taking in animals, and how she doesn’t hide away her emotions and wears her heart on her sleeve. I found Fisher really soony with how he’s always listening to Sage and wanting to take care of her for a change. You can totally see the chemistry between the two of them and I liked that this book was a slow burn romance and that they got to truly know one another. While Fisher is definitely a grumpy hero, I found him hilariously funny at times and in the bedroom super sexy! I really really liked Fisher and Sage’s relationship and how they always communicated with each other other! While I’m not into third act breakups, this is actually the first time I am happy that a romance book had it! I found the ending really beautiful and even shed a bunch of tears!
This is a beautiful romance filled with amazing characters, a beautiful love story, delicious food, adorable animals that will make you want one, and words of wisdom that will stay with you for a long time!

"You're all the shapes made perfectly to hold me, and you're all my favorite colors."

Sage Byrd is a loving, quirky ray of sunshine. She brings joy to whomever she encounters. I'm not surprised that Fisher and Indy were attracted to her. She was the balm that Indy needed in a world that has been full of ups and downs, a calm in the storm called teenaged life. If not for Sage, Fisher may have not figured out what Indy really needed or wanted. But more than that, Fisher and Sage were complete opposites who balanced each other out. Fisher's had this standard he's had to live up to. Those Michelin stars aren't given without merit, and he did want to return to the culinary world he temporarily left behind, but at what cost? Is it worth the notoriety if you aren't truly happy?

Karissa Vacker and Zachary Webber brought this book to life. The characters, their quirks, their personalities.....everything! Karissa is a new to me narrator and I look forward to listening to more of her work. Zachary is like an old friend, breathing life into characters and their stories.

I received an advance copy of this book at my request and voluntarily left this review.

Savor It by Tarah DeWitt is the perfect summer romcom that will make your heart melt. I really loved the ease in which the romance came to be while DeWitt wrote characters with depth and personality. The small town feel kept the book grounded and provided plenty of hilarious antics yet the plot has substance with complicated characters who are trying to better themselves. I also really enjoyed the realistic nature between Uncle Fischer and his teenage niece, Indy. As a mom of two kids in that age group, the dialogue felt authentic. Great, easy read that I sped through in a day!

Thank you SMP Romance for the gifted ARC!

Sage Byrd is the youngest with 3 older brothers. She lost her parents young and was brought up through her teenage yrs by her brothers and a journal written by her mom. She lives in her family home while tending her gardens and caring for rescued animals on her small farm.

Fisher is a world class chef in NY who just lost one of his 3 Michelin stars and is now the guardian of his niece after his sister passed away. He’s fired due to an outburst at a critic, and his boss sends him across the country to help get another restaurant up and running.

This small town romance is so sweet and consists of so much healing. Sage is completely over her ex, the towns “golden boy”, but the relationship definitely left some deep seated scars that Sage has to work through in order to grow. Fisher misses his sister, and although it’s been 3yrs since her death, he’s still trying to make sense of it while also dealing with complete career burnout and loss of all motivation and taking care of his niece.

There were a couple of slow moments in the beginning, and while I wish there had been more dialogue between these 2, it was still a very sweet read. I was not expecting the spice, and it was a great surprise!

And bc it is a small town romcom, we got a few of the town side characters which I really enjoyed. I would love to read each of the brothers stories for sure! Especially a second chance trope for Ellis and Wren please?!

I have never read a book that has perfectly embodied my brain before - and then I met Sage and Fisher. Savor It is a remarkable story - with an overarching love tale between two unsuspecting main characters tying in all the subplots of a teenager in grief, finding self worth, and the struggles of work burnout. This story is so beautifully woven together I want to wipe it from my brain and reread it again for the first time just so I can….savor it.

Tarah sets the bar high with Fisher - who’s caring for his niece after his sisters sudden death, struggling with his own depressions and work stress, and trying to just make the best of it. He’s dynamic and deep, with an incredibly dirty mouth and a hilarious wit that made me love him instantly.

Sage is a wholesome and wonderful human - from her pure heart and rag tag band of misfit animals, to her deep understanding of love in all forms. She’s someone who I inspire to be.

Overall this book is incredible and readers should be required to read it.

If you are looking for a slow burn, small town romance with quirky characters and lots- like a lot- of farm animals then this book is for you. Also, the cover alone is simply stunning!

Sage and Fisher were incredibly relatable MCs and their connection felt very genuine and authentic, and I loved the build-up to their relationship. The second half of the book was so funny and heartwarming I found myself tearing up and then flat out bawling at multiple pages. Once these two really started to fall for each other, I was DONE FOR. I loved DeWitt's previous books The Co-Op and Rootbound and her FMCs are always strong women with depth who you can't help but root for. In this case, DeWitt does a good job of handling grief from both Sage and Fisher's POV. She knows how to write good characters.

My one gripe is that I found the front half of the book very slow, and there were a lot- like a lot- of people and places and things. There was so much focus on the small town inhabitants that I wouldn't be surprised if some of the side characters got a spin-off book. I found there was less of a storyline than her previous reads, so I would say pick this up if you're looking for more of a vibe and that vibe is finding yourself and being loved for the you that you found.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an early electronic arc in exchange for my honest review. If you haven't read DeWitt's other books, you need to go read them now!
