This book was adorable and I look forward to shouting about it and giving a detailed review once the SMP boycott concludes!
I absolutely adored Tarah DeWitt's Savor It! It made me go through all kinds of different emotions but I wouldn't have it any other way ngl. Tarah just knows how to get me from point A to point B in the best way possible, and Sage and Fisher's story definitely delivered in every single aspect. Angst, romance, found family, and so much more! THE PERFECT SUMMER BOOK <3
*Thank you to St Martin's Griffin and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest review and to Macmillan Audio for the gifted ALC*
I did not savor this book and I regret everything. I whipped through, not taking a moment to enjoy their happy moments and struggles. But the good news is that I can reread it! And I absolutely will be doing so (which is HUGE for me).
Karissa Vacker and Zachary Weber were just perfect for this book. I loved the alternating chapters and narrators. The steamy bits were to DIE for on audio. I'm still salivating over the imagery of a hot chef holding two baby goats. And while a competition brought them together, the book isn't focused on that at all. (TBH I kind of missed the end of it? Did they win?) All I know is that I had a good time and can't wait to go back to Spunes.
Thank you St. Martins Press/SMP Romance for the ARC!
I binged this in one go and have no regrets. I loved. I know I’m partial to Tarah’s books (aka major fangirl here) but Savor It really was just so sweet and cute and wholesome and precious and swoony and hot and lovely. Fisher was top tier book boyfriend material, as per usual with Tarah’s books. Sage was the girl we all wish we could be, which is also a regular feeling when reading Tarah’s books. So basically everything you love about Tarah’s other books is here and it’s just such a sweet and good time 🥹🥹🥹
While I was reading this, it was making me feel like I was watching a movie so now of course I’d love to see this on the big screen someday! It was funny and romantic and pulled on the heart strings- absolutely romcom movie worthy! So let’s make a screed adaptation happen, PLEASE! 😍😍😍
Thank you Netgalley, smp and MacMillan audio for the free ALC an free e-Arc. My opinions are being left voluntarily. This is absolute perfection. From start to end. I was hesitant to pick this up as I wasn't a super fan of the authors previous books and definitely was under the impression she want for me. This book proved me wrong that authors work changes as their skill of telling a story becomes something you don't want to end. I will be asding a copy to my forever shelf.
Absolute perfection will be my favorite may 2024 book no question
5/5☆
I thought this was a sweet story! I love a good small town romance! This was definitely a slow burn a little slower than I like but still good! Fisher and Sage were good together! I really enjoyed their banter. I love dual pov because we get to see what is going with both characters, we got to see him struggle with his niece, being in a small town. He also struggled with his feelings for Sage. I did struggle to get into the book at first but I am glad I pushed through! I loved to see the character growth for these two!
What to expect:
Small Town Romance
Grumpy x Sunshine
Friends to Lovers
Slow Burn
Dual POV
A win for me!!!!! This may be Tarah’s best work yet!!!

Reading the unfolding of the relationship of Sage and Fischer was so real and so well done. I felt like I was literally with them while reading. Tarah made it easy to feel like a movie was playing out before my eyes. The anxieties and issues of the characters were real and I really related to both Sage and Fischer. A great read for romance lovers!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book!
Thank you netgalley for the arc!!
This was really cute! I enjoyed the dynamic between the mcs and that they became friends first before falling for each other. Their banter me laugh multiple times!! Sage is, despite going through a lot with loosing her parents at a young age, so full of life and happiness. She cares for others, giving animals in need a new home (I loved legs and also the facts about geese made me tear up) and helps out everywhere she can. Fisher (I will never get over that name, im sorry) was so refreshing to read about. He‘s kind and caring and the man talks about his feelings which is definitely a plus in my books! I enjoyed the side characters a lot, I‘m hoping Wren and Ellis story isn‘t over yet. Also the Farley Jones cameo?? LOVED!
Savor It is a small town romance full of humor, tenderhearted moments, and a few spicy scenes. The main characters each carried their own trauma and experienced vulnerable moments throughout the book. I loved the family/platonic relationships, the numerous animals, and the small town vibe.
I received an ARC from St. Martin's Press | St. Martin's Griffin/Macmillan Audio via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
i have officially found a new comfort read!!! about a week ago in a conversation i said “i saw this tiktok of a guy who was the guardian for his little brother and it was so cute i want to find a read like that” AND BOY DID MY FBI AGENT LISTEN WELL THAT DAY!!! I woke up at 3 am and couldnt fall back asleep so at 5 am during a reels doom scroll my phone said FOR YOU and it was this book!!
i remembered seeing it on NG before so safe to say i RAN to see if it was still available for request. i’m so happy to have been able to receive the ebook & audio arc of this one, i cannot say enough good things about how well Karissa Vacker and Zachary Webber brought Sage & Fisher to life. i adored every moment of this read/listen.
i laughed a lot and teared up a lot. i loved how low angst this book was and just how fun the entire town and characters were.
im seriously hoping for future books on her pesky brothers, ESPECIALLY a second chance between Wren & Ellis 🤞🏼
i will indeed be racing to go start my other tarah dewitt audios asap
This book gave me all the feels. It was somehow sweet and heartwarming while also being emotional and real! A few chapters in and I also already adding Tarah DeWitt's other books to my TBR. Highly recommend!
Add this book to your summer "TBR"s! the perfect warm weather or beachy read, this small town romance had me smiling all the way through. The characters were quirky and flawed and so likable. It made me want to go spend my summer in Spunes, Oregon (not to be confused with Forkes, Washington) I become a bigger Tarah DeWitt fan with each book I read!
This was my first book from Tarah and I am hooked!! Her writing is just such magic that you find yourself wanting to be transported to her little world of Spunes Oregon! You fall in love with all of her characters (and animals!).
Sage and Fisher have stolen my heart! They were just so darn adorable and sweet. I loved how completely open and trusting they were with each other. They never tried to hide anything from each other and were always honest about what they were feeling. I fell in love with Sage and how true she was to being herself! Fisher was the perfect man to take her as what she was. All the sweet things he did or said to her melted my heart!
This book was so chock full of humor, loss, steam and fun times and I wholeheartedly enjoyed every second and now I'm craving more from this little town!
Sage and Fisher were so fun to read about! I really enjoyed this one! loved this small town and the fake dating to real was a great dynamic in this book! I loved how their relationship progressed and i really enjoyed how this story played out! This book had me both laughing and crying and i couldnt put this one down! I hope we get more of this town in the future!
I loved this book so much!!!!!!! I am the human embodiment of the crying face emoji over how much I loved this book! I loved this book so much already want to reread it!
I am so GIDDY over this book. It was absolutely wonderful and I can definitely see this becoming a comfort book (and series??) in the future bc all I felt while reading this book was my cheeks freezing in place from so much smiling and giggling.
Sage and Fisher and their gaggle of animals own me body and soul!!!!!! I love their love so much I could cry and I did!!! multiple times....
They were tender and silly and so considerate with each other and upfront about their feelings and fears and just SO HOT together. Like now this is a hot couple! The things Fisher would say to sagebyrd (iykyk!!) live rent free in my head and are bookmarked on my kindle for easy access.
I love them and their little community in Spunes so much and I can't wait for the next books in this series!!! The Byrds' are gonna take over my life, y'all
Tarah Dewitt, the woman that you are

Rating: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ (I liked it)
This is my first Tarah Dewitt book and I can see why she’s a popular author! Her writing was easy to follow along and I loved that she fleshed out her characters.
The two things I struggled with was the pacing and the chemistry. I found that the pace was too slow for me. I loved how we got the background to characters and the town. However, the long descriptions made this feel like a chore.
Overall, I look forward to finding more of her books to check out!

The vibes in this book? Immaculate. The main theme throughout Savor It was learning to romanticize your life. No matter what you’re doing, enjoy it… because life’s too short not to. Honestly, a really important reminder that I think everyone can relate to.
Sage basically lived my dream life. It was simple, but beautiful. A pretty house with a sunroom, a mini farm of cute animals, she was an aspiring florist, and to top it off; she had a hot neighbour. DREAM! LIFE! She made sure to always get the most out of life no matter how mundane her day may have been, and she reminded Fisher and Indy to do the same. I resonated with this and I admired her happiness and contentment with her little life. As seen with Fisher, just because you achieved a big dream, doesn’t mean you’ll be happy forever. It’s about the people you surround yourself with and the things that make YOU truly happy, even if it seems frivolous or predictable.
Fisher was such an interesting and complex character. He and Indy grew so much during their summer in Spunes. I loved how worried he was about Indy, he always put her first no matter what. They were both dealing with a lot of unresolved grief. I was glad that they were so open about going to therapy, it was really refreshing. I loved the moments where Indy and Fisher communicated honestly about their grief and I wish they had more of them.
I adored the way Sage and Fisher fell in love. Even though it was a romance book, it was surprisingly subtle. Little things and actions that occurred and before you know it you’re tearing up over the pining and the foreboding that they were nearing the end of the summer. Sage taught Fisher how to love life again, she taught him that material things mean nothing if you don’t have connections with people you love and trust in your life. He taught her how to fall in love again, and how it feels to not have to be alone anymore, how much better it is to have someone by your side for everything. On another note, the spice was so beautiful and heartfelt, every love scene was meaningful.
Savor It was a beautiful romance book full of funny small town shenanigans and lovable characters. I am REALLY hoping we get another book based in Spunes (please turn this into a series!) because I need more from this cute town and the Byrd siblings.
TROPES:
- Small town
- Neighbours to lovers
- Grumpy x sunshine
- Single guardian
- Chef mmc
- Forced proximity
- A dash of fake dating
Thank you to Tarah DeWitt, St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the ARC! Congrats on the release :)
I adore Tarah Dewitt and her work and 'Savor It' futher proves my point! I enjoyed every minute and every page of this book.
Okay, so here's the thing about Savor It. I did not savor it. I ate it up (😏) and wanted more. Every time that "savor it" was in the text, it gave me a good little giggle. And in the way that Rootbound made me cry on Amtrak, Savor It made me tear up riding Metro.
Savor It was such a tender story, and there were so many beautiful details. I loved watching Sage be in her element and watching Fisher regain his footing and Indy get comfortable with Spunes and herself and Fisher and also all the animals!! There's a three-legged cat named Legoless!!
I think the thing that I really loved about this book was how much honesty there was. Sage and Fisher were honest about their feelings with each other, even as it started as a fake-dating-make-my-ex-jealous-by-making-out-in-the-library situation. Fisher was honest about what he was struggling with (and the therapist he was seeing!). Wren is honest with Sage in giving her advice. Sage is honest about the things she loves about Fisher, and same with Fisher.
Savor It is a book that I see myself coming back to. 4.5 stars rounded up.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Griffin for providing me with an eARC of Savor It in exchange for my honest review.
[REVIEW: Savor It by Tarah DeWitt]
Thank you to @NetGalley and the publisher for the e-ARC. Options are my own.
Ooooh, baby am I conflicted! Landing at 3.5 ⭐️’s rounded down…I think…I think. 😬
This book had so much going for it and the fictional, coastal town of Spunes, Oregon would be on my travel bucket list if it existed IRL! The flora, the fauna, the salt water, the starry night skies and the afternoon sun beams through the sunroom windows with the reading yellow chair.
Read if you like:
- small town drama with busybody neighbors
- local boutique restaurants and pastry shops
- girl next door MFC: Sage; no, literally she lives across the meadow from our MMC’s rental property)
- a MMC: Fisher who gives me “Gilmore Girls Jess” vibes, if Jess was a chef with an ear piercing
- veggie and flower gardens
- a cast of farm animals as pets; a three legged cat named Legoless, a pair of geese named Gary and Gronk, a failed livestock guardian dog named Sable, a Clydesdale named Bud, and Cupid the library cat
Fisher and his niece Indy relocate to Spunes, OR for a summer after he’s put on temporary leave from his job as head chef after a serious case of workplace burnout. In Spunes, he’s assigned to the launching of local restaurant, Starhopper in order to prove his worthiness needed to earn his job back in New York. Fisher meets Sage when they have a very un-cute meet cute involving a late night incident and a squad of cops which includes Sage’s brothers and her ex.
Unfortunately, I didn’t quite buy into the insta-love of the connection between these two. The story sure had a lot of heart, but I think I wanted a little more slow burn. It’s been a few weeks since my read and some of the characters’ details have left me, but the fictional town of Spunes remains! Read for “travel without moving your feet” experience of this one!
