This is a really sweet book, especially if you're a fan of small town romances and cinnamon roll heroes! Tarah is a great writer and one thing I appreciated about this story was the pacing, it really created that feeling that you get from hanging out in a small town where people and life just moves at a lovely, slower pace. Settle in with a cup of tea or coffee and a cozy blanket when you curl up with this book.
I received a copy of this story from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I think it's hard to surprise romance readers but Tarah Dewitt manages to do exactly that. Every time I thought I knew the shape of this story based on the tropes (small town, fake relationship, grumpy/sunshine, etc), it would take a turn I wasn't expecting. It was a thoroughly delightful read!
The writing is beautiful. Sage and Fisher and Indy and all the animals are wonderfully developed and flawed and unique. I had no trouble imagining Spunes thanks to Tarah's perfectly-detailed descriptions. It's steamy while still maintaining a hazy film of privacy (something I imagine is hard to balance). I really wanted to savor all of it.
Do yourself a favor and add this to your TBR list immediately!
Tarah DeWitt is a HIT for me, I usually love all her books. Her writing is so special, and I love the uniqueness of all her characters. This one had a lot of talk of animals, which is not something I connect with, so it didn't work for me, but I might still come back and finish it sometime! Still would recommend trying it, as I know several friends who really enjoyed it!
It’s official, if Tarah writes it, I’m going to read it. Am I entering my romance era?!
“It’s been a privilege to fall in love with you.”
I. AM. SOBBING.. While simultaneously giggling and kicking my feet.
I loved this book so much, everything about it is cozy and atmospheric and still so REAL. If I could spend a summer in Spunes, I would. You could probably even convince me to move there. Fisher and Sage were just, chefs kiss 🧑🍳 💋🤌
Funny, full of heart, and just the right amount of spice. I preordered the book the SECOND I finished the arc.
Go preorder Savor it! I promise you’ll savor every second. 💕
4.25 stars. I love Tarah Dewitt. it's official. Fisher and Sage are so precious. Their love is so tender. Their connection started so genuinely. I grew up in a small town so I know small towns aren’t actually like this but I so badly wish they were. I LOVE a broody teenager side plot and this delivered.
Wow! This has quickly become one of new favorite romance books of 2024! This book was beyond phenomenal! The characters, setting, emotions, story, and everything in between was so good and excellently crafted. This book made me so emotional and the ending left me in tears! The chemistry between Sage and Fisher, was so good! They stood strong on their own as individual characters and I loved how they brought the best out of each other. Watching Fisher’s relationship with his sister grow was so beautiful and heartwarming! This is the perfect slow burn, small town romance for this summer and I can’t wait for it to release soon!
The Instagram and Goodreads post are now linked and online.

Thank you NetGalley & St. Martin’s Press for this arc in exchange for my honest review!
My goodness this is hands down my favorite book from Tarah Dewitt so far (and yes they have been getting better and better each time).
From the start till the end, I was so incredibly captivated the whole entire time! I could not get enough of the puns/witty banter/cooking/competitiveness/animals/love/small town vibe that this story contained. Sage is such a light throughout the book with all her “Sage Advice” and Fisher was the observant, most perfect character there is. I also enjoyed reading about how Fisher & Indy’s relationship grew throughout the Summer (and her love for Gary).
I appreciated that the miscommunication troupe was not used and that both characters were open & honest with their feelings along the way. I do wish I could have seen more of Fisher’s cooking and his profession as a whole since that was the main reason for him relocating.
I 100% NEED this to become a series about all of Sage’s brothers so we can keep visiting Spunes (*cough cough* Ellis and Wren !!) please!
Overall, if you’re looking for a summer, small town, quick easy, dual POV read with some humor and depth to it - look no further!! You will not regret it.
Can’t wait for the next release by Tarah Dewitt!
I read primarily the romance genre because I find comfort in a guaranteed Happily Ever After (or even a “Happy For Now”). That being said, I yearn for a story that pulls (maybe even rips) some of my heartstrings, and leave me wondering if it’s even possible for the characters to get the happily ever after ending they deserve. This book did that. Sage is the epitome of sunshine, and while Fisher isn’t necessarily grumpy, he’s been knocked down by life enough to be enamored with just how bright Sage can be. He is doing his best, raising his niece since his sister/her mother’s passing, trying to figure out how to get his career back on track after a rough past several years. The way in which they are drawn to one other is intoxicating. Tarah has done it once again.
Tarah DeWitt truly is one of the best in the game. She is a master at writing humor, personal growth, and steamy moments and her books never fail to make me laugh out loud and fill me with butterflies, sometimes in the same paragraph.
Savor Me is a lovely little small town romance that showcases Tarah’s trademark style of combining humor and emotional growth. Our main characters Sage and Fisher are two very different people (see: grumpy vs sunshine) who are both on a similar journey of trying to find contentment in their lives. Sage is a teacher in the small town of Spunes, Oregon (not to be confused with Forks, Washington (thank you for this, Tarah)) who is perfectly content on her own because she's never truly felt like she belonged. Fisher is a (former) chef at a Michelin star restaurant down on his luck after being fired, who is trying to decide if he wants or even deserves to live out his dream anymore. After taking a consulting job in Spunes for the summer at a restaurant his former boss is opening, who else should he and his niece end up neighbors with but our sunshiney hero, Sage?
When Fisher and his niece show up, embarrassing introductions ensue. Sage and Fisher spend the next few weeks becoming friends which (shocker) ultimately turns into something more. Knowing that Fisher will have to return to New York at the end of summer, the two of them have to decide if they should keep it casual or if they should throw caution to the wind and savor it.
Tarah DeWitt is an instant-buy for me after reading Funny Feelings and I will devour anything she writes. Savor Me is no different. I laughed, I swooned, I may have even shed a few tears. She writes humor and banter like no one else I’ve ever read and her steamy scenes are always so well done. Her characters always have so much heart and I somehow always end up feeling like I’ve learned something after finishing her books. She has such a talent for writing single parent/sole caregivers with kids who have big feelings and their own sets of hardships. Her ability to make me feel invested in every single character whether it be the main characters or even the side characters like Sage’s brothers and Indy is truly such a gift. I could go on and on about my love for her writing.
My only qualm with this particular story was the incorporation of the festival and Sage and Fisher’s participation in its contests. While I can recognize that the canoeing portion plays a somewhat significant role in a later piece of the story, I found it to be kind of boring and not super integral to everything else. I found myself skimming reading those moments and feel like the story could have stood on its own just as well without it.
I will close this out with this: Can we PLEASE get a book about Ellis or Silas?? Or both?? I adored them!
Thank you Net Galley for the ARC. I thought this book was a sweet small town romance read. I loved the single dad (uncle) and animal loving woman tropes. However, overall I found most of it very surface level and there were too many directions started but not completed. It was not my favorite book of Dewitt’s but I still found it to be enjoyable.
“I think finding the right people --finding your people--can be the thing that makes anywhere feel like home”
Savor It is the perfect small town summer romance. Filled with fake dating, adorable farm animals and true love, this story was one that I couldn’t put down!
Sage Byrd is sick of everyone’s sympathy. Her relationship with the town’s golden boy may have ended but that doesn’t mean that she isn’t worthy of so much more, if only others could see it. After the sudden death of his sister Fisher Lange is left raw and grieving. A chef who has lost his Michelin star and had a public meltdown, Fisher is sent to the small town of Spunes, Oregon along with his niece, Indy to try and recover his love of cooking and get his life back on track. The attraction between Sage and Fisher is immediate and intensified when the two decide to fake-date and enter in the Festival of Spunes, a town contest which pits them against Sage’s ex. This arrangement is only supposed to last the summer but it soon becomes clear that neither Sage nor Fisher are ready for their alliance to end.
I love when characters become friends first and then fall in love. Sage and Fisher are each on their own journeys of emotional growth and self discovery but they choose to share their lives with one another in the most beautiful way. The relationship between Fisher and Indy also follows a sweet if not complicated path. I enjoyed seeing these three characters’ lives weave together. Finally, I would be remiss if I did not say that the scenes between Indy and a goose named Gary stole my heart. Iykyk --- Indy and Gary forever!!
Savor It is a heartwarming story that I think you will just love! Grumpy-sunshine with small town charm, at its best!
Savor It - this funny, small town romance follows Sage Byrd and Fisher Lange as they strike a deal to improve each other's situations in the town of Spunes, Oregon, leading to a strong connection and lots of emotional healing. This one is filled with small-town charm and big feelings, and I absolutely loved it.
I adored Sage - she was independent, didn't let her ex ruin her life, and she has a great support system in Spunes that she's obviously grateful for. And Fisher - love him, too. He's doing so much growing and finding himself again, and we love a man in therapy! This is only my second book that I've read by Tarah, but I love the way she draws you in with her character development and the way she handles hard topics with care. Savor It does both so beautifully, I went through the ringer with my emotions with this one and I cannot wait to read it again!
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
From the first pages I knew I'd love this book. I'm a sucker for a playlist that sets the mood. The songs match perfectly with the character's journeys. This book was incredibly sweet with such an important message to follow your own path and live in the present. I could read another 2-3 books about the other characters in this small town. I'll definitely be checking out Tarah DeWitt's other books. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC e-read.
I was thinking, oh this is a small town fake romance I will not be crying, I was wrong. I've had Tarah DeWitt books on my TBR forever so of course I had to start with the newest release. You will definitely Savor It while reading, very wholesome family oriented, spice level 2. Sage is a Social studies teacher who rescues animals and has a flower garden in her family farm. Fisher a 2 Michelin star chef, guardian to his niece and has a reluctance to small towns. The friendship blossoming between these two is full of chemistry and panty melting kisses at the library that turn into a fake relationship with both benefiting from its kisses. The ending had me holding back tears, i loved this book so much. The execution was brilliant, all main and side characters had strong qualities that can be turned into a series, if not already.
Dang, I loved this one. Sage and Fisher are EVERYTHING. A well-written, funny and loving rom-com with some real heart. I had never read Tarah Dewitt before, but now I will read all of her books. The story has a depth to it that reminds me of the greats, Emily Henry and Abby Jimenez.
Tarah DeWitt has truly been all over the map but nothing is holding a handle to Spunes, Oregon which is where Savor It is set. In this small-town romance, we’re following Sage, a school teacher on summer break who is trying to feel happier and stronger after a horrible breakup.
Then we have Fisher, a hotshot NYC chef who moved to Spunes as a restaurant consultant for a new location, opening in town. While it seems unlikely at first, Fisher and Sage soon become friends. Of course, neither of them is without baggage as Sage is dealing with the loss of her parents and Fisher is dealing with a struggling career, the loss of his sister, and raising his teenage niece.
Despite all the baggage between these two, Sage and Fisher end up having a blissful romance. It’s clear they’re working to be better and want to love each other so badly. It’s truly amazing to watch the two of them fall so hard for each other. Coupled with the fact that they’re partners for the town’s festival competition, they have no choice but to get closer and closer.
Savor It truly lived up to its name as the romance was something I couldn’t help but want to sip on slowly. I loved seeing these two slowly but surely deny their feelings before falling for each other, harder than they could have imagined. Then you also have Sage’s farm full of animals and the unlikely romance between Fisher’s niece and Sage’s nephew.
To put it simply, I don’t have enough words to talk about how much I enjoyed this book. As someone who recently moved from a small town to a city, this book felt like a warm hug. I loved seeing all of the townspeople, the close familial relationships, and all those little quirks that make you love a small-town romance.
If anything, Savor It proved that Tarah DeWitt is an author I’ve been missing out on and I can’t wait to read more from. I can only hope that we get more books set in this world as I already have a few characters I’m hoping end up together. Until then, you can now pick up Savor it and enjoy it as slowly as you’d like.
Fisher is a struggling chef who is struggling after the death of his sister and the loss of a Michelin star. In what she hopes is a reset for him, his boss sends him to small town Oregon to oversee the construction and menu for a new restaurant. Sage has lived in Spunes her whole life and owns a hobby farm next door to Fisher's rental. Fisher starts to ruffle some feathers in the town which has the potential to delay the restaurant, so Sage offers to show him around and introduce him to small town life. In exchange for the tutelage, Fisher agrees to help Sage win the town's competition at the end of the summer.
This is one of those books that I can't quite put my finger on why I didn't LOVE it - there's nothing that I inherently disliked, I just had a hard time believing the chemistry and relationship. It was sort of like I knew I was supposed to swoon but I just...wasn't! I'm going to put it down to my mood just not being in quite the right place for this one but I do think people will love it! I may revisit it at some point and see if it works better for me in another format.
Read this for:
- Small Town Romance
- MMC is a chef
- A hobby farm with SO MANY animals (shout out to the three legged cat named leg-o-less)
- Opposites attract
- Dual POV
- MMC is a parental figure
Thank you to St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for the eARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This novel was so beautiful that I still think about it every night before bed. It's a reminder that the important things in life are sometimes the most simple things if we just just stop for a moment and pay attention. Fisher and Sage have found a place in my heart for the long run. All the stars.
Perfect little beach read! This story was funny and sweet and heartwarming with lovable characters set in a small town as intriguing as Forks (IFYKYK!). Pick this one up if you need a warm hug from a book! Thank you Netgalley, St. Martin’s Press and the author for this eARC in exchange for my honest review. This book will be available for purchase on May 21, 2024 (just in time for summer!)
If you’re in the mood for a lighthearted book that will wrap you in a comforting hug, this book will deliver. Savor It is a cozy small town romcom set on the Oregon coast. Sage, a high school teacher on summer break with a farm full of misfit animals, and Fisher, a burnt out big city Michelin starred chef with his teenaged niece in tow, make for a quirky and sweet pair. Fans of Abby Jimenez and Katherine Center will definitely enjoy!
