In Savor It, Sage and Fisher are two characters grappling with their own personal demons as they navigate the ups and downs of love and life. I loved the setting and the characters, they will definitely stick with me long after I have finished this book. There is just something about a summer romance that gets me all in the feels. This is a perfect summer read that has the perfect amount of romance, humor, and heart. The small-town setting and the lovable characters make this book impossible to put down.
4/5 stars
I loved this book SO much. Tarah DeWitt can truly do no wrong, and this book was the epitome of everything I’ve come to love about her. It’s full of heart, humor, emotion, spice, and above all, authenticity. There was something so deeply relatable yet awe-inspiring about this story; I truly have yet to come up with the right words to describe it. Sage & Fisher’s story was one for the ages!
Thank you to NetGalley for this beautiful ARC! As I am still processing my multitude of thoughts and feelings about this stunning, stunning book, a full review chock-full of gushing—the kind born of rib-splitting and heart-rending—will be up on GoodReads and Amazon by release day. 💖
omg I am giggling and kicking my feet and swooning and sweating all at the same time!!! I ADORED this book! Sage and Fisher are a dream couple. I saw parts of myself in both of them, which just made the whole book from me. I loved that they seemed to complete each other but they could also be their own person. Also, I did not foresee the goose becoming one of my favorite plot points, alas he was.
This was such a sweet story. It was both dreamy and realistic — always a plus with contemporary romance for me. The whole food back drop of the story was quite fun and got me captivated as much as the love story at times.
I really liked how grief and loss in various forms (people, career, relationships, potential, dreams,…) were addressed and most of all I loved the concept of choosing your people. Of choosing the person even if falling in love is sometimes out of our control… the choosing and staying always is.
This story is a deeply touching summer romance that became so much more as you delved into the book. Page after page the slow-building friendship and growing romance developed in a fun and beautiful way.
DeWitt created characters that were complex and so real. Dealing with past hurts and yet growing through it too. I love how the main characters connected and teamed up for healing and growth through humor and a bit of craziness. Fun farm animals, interesting secondary characters, and a family worth it all.
The second half clinched the rating. These two grew together in such a subtle way with an intensity that takes your breath away. It carried from the hot scenes to their emotional connection. The heat was as intense as their love.
Savor It is a fun, flirty, and deliciously hot work that will beg you to read it over and over.
Tarah Dewitt is one of my favorite authors so thank you NetGalley and St Martin's Press for this arc in exchange for an honest review!
Small town romance lovers listen up - this book follows Sage Byrd, a bright light living in a small Oregon town (Spunes), surrounded by a small but mighty group of friends and family and of course her beloved animals. Sage meets Fisher Lange, a famous chef sent to Spunes to take a break from NYC and revive his love for cooking. He also recently gained custody over his 15-year-old niece, and is balancing how to heal from burnout while being in this new role.
I loved how these two were both navigating so much internally, but they loved each other through it all for exactly who they were in the moment. I enjoyed the small town feel and all the supporting characters were lovely.
I related heavily to Fisher in a lot of ways and genuinely just enjoyed Sage. I will say I didn't like this book as much as Funny Feelings, something about it felt so rushed to me. I felt like the ending came up so quick and we didnt really get to FEEL Sage and Fisher fall in love and I didn't feel like I got to see Fisher reconnect with his niece, either.
A must read still if you love small town romance and good food! Would give it a 3.5/5
special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced look at the book in exchange for an honest review!
Tarah does it again. A wonderful little romance with lots of tension and banter. I loved Fisher and Sage has individual characters, and together they were so lovely. I also really enjoyed all of the supporting characters!
I enjoyed the book! The first half was slow but the second half was very good. 3/5 stars. It reminded me of things we never got over!
Thank you to Netgalley, the author, and the publisher for an arc of this book.
If you want a quick easy read I would suggest picking this book up. Personally I like reading fantasy books with a romance book in between to mix it up and I am glad I chose to read this one. I have heard very good things about this author and a lot of hype surrounding the book so I was nervous to pick it up but I do think it’s worth the hype. It’s a small town romance book and the main characters have good chemistry and their banter is *chefs kiss*. I enjoyed the characters actually feeling like their age and not making them seem childish (miscommunication) and I could actually feel what the main character was feeling while reading along. I, really looking forward to reading more from this author.
I thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful story of love, growth, grief and community. I thought the main characters were well developed and relatable and I really appreciated that they communicated! This story was satisfying as a reader and felt very down to earth and mature while also being funny, romantic and delightfully spicy. I’m hoping we get to visit Spunes again in future novels and find myself wishing I had my own Gary the goose. Thank you so much to the author and NetGalley for a chance to read an advance copy of this wonderful novel, I highly recommend checking it out!
wow. the tension in this book is unmatched. i loved it. from both povs. I loved Sages personality and ughhh. I get the vibes that she dressed kinda groovy or hippy of that makes sense but also farmerish which i loved! I also liked how she was growing more comfortable with sticking up for herself and growing as a person.
I literally hated Cassidy and Ian. Like please of i had to read their names one more time my kindle would have been across the room 😂 but i guess it gave good background for the book so i guess i liked that part of it.
the whole “Sage advice” stuff was so sweet omg… like i want a Sage in my life to give me advice? and why was Fisher loving it ( me too… me too)
And Indy?! omg i love her. idk what’s not to like about her she’s sassy but she also has such a sweet side and i love how she was opening up 🥹🥹
i cried for like 30 minutes after reading this and i don’t cry about books often… this book tugged in my heart in some way but i’m all here for it!
overall i really enjoyed this book and i will definitely be reading more by this author… it was fast to get through and easy to read and understand.
I know I was supposed to Savor It, but I read this in 2 days because I couldn't put it down!
This book surprised me in such a good way. Although there was plenty of hilarity and comic relief, this was not simply a fluffy rom-com. The story of Fisher and Sage had depth and excellent character development. I found it interesting how the author addresses how different people cope with trauma and difficulty in life. I loved Sage's perspective of enjoying the little things and could relate to Fisher's burnout.
Sage and Fisher complement and accept each other, and the result was a genuine, satisfying, and HOT romance. And also - who doesn't love a sexy chef who cooks for you?
I loved this story, their HEA, and can't wait to read more from Tarah!
Thank you to the author and Netgalley for the e-ARC!
*Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an arc in exchange for an honest review*
I loved this! A beautiful small town romance that is so wholesome it makes you want to savor it! ;) It's pretty typical complete with rescued farm animals and eccentric townsfolk. The MMC Fisher who's a chef plans to spend the summer in Spunes with his niece because he is sent there to set up a restaurant following his career troubles when he loses a Michelin Star, has a breakdown and gets fired. His niece Indy harbors feelings of resentment because she feels like he abandoned her three years ago when her mother died and he left her with her grandparents, his parents, instead of taking her with him to New York. He is now trying to make amends and be a better person.
The FMC Sage lives on the little farm like house next to the house Fisher and Indy rent and she's an absolute sunshine. She takes in unwanted animals and tends to her garden and flowers. She hasn't always had it easy but never lost her joy for life. They get to know each other and at some point Fisher suggests they act like they are dating so that the townspeople would like him more and asks her to help him come up with ideas for the restaurant that would make the people in Spunes support the new place. He in turn promises to help her win the yearly competition that Ian, her ex, has always won and wants to win this year too with his fiancé Cassidy who he suspiciously dated right after he broke up with Sage.
Sage and Fisher spend the summer together an Savor every minute of it. <3
I loved the vibes in this book, the protagonists are real, flawed and relatable and still inspiring. Their romance is slow, sweet, and so healthy. It has distinct summer vibes and just makes me want to live on a farm with a bunch of animals lol. It also has a sprinkle of humor, with alle the farm and small town puns thrown in there. The only flaw the book had was that it ended kind of abruptly, or more like the main problem that kept the protagonists from each other was resolved too quickly. But still it was satisfying and the vibes were there. I really wanted to know though how Wren and Ellis would end up? I can only hope that they get their own book. Oh and, Indy and that goose forever <3
All in all, its a feel good romance recommended for a comfortable read. 4,5/5
Note: When making the playlist to listen to, I couldn’t find “girl like you by bestfriend” on Spotify!
Thank you Tarah for the trigger warnings at the start of the book.
The cover is STUNNING. As an Oregonian, the description of the weather was spot on. I was hoping for some subtle twilight references thrown in there and I was not disappointed. I love the Dual POV and the small town summer romance. But I didn’t feel as much build up/chemistry as I was hoping for between the two main characters. I love the comedy thrown in there but I think we needed less filler scenes and more build up.
Thank you NetGalley and Tarah DeWitt for the ARC!
Tarah DeWitt is truly an autobuy author for me. I downloaded this ARC a few months back and I was honestly just trying to.... savor it. No pun intended. I want to give this book 100 stars. Infinity stars? Is that a think. You get everything in this book. The perfect small town. Single dad (hes the guardian). The grumpy and the sunshine. FAKE DATING. HELLO!! perfect. Sage and Fisher full of swoon (and of course spice). Perfect side characters. GOATS. GUYS THERE ARE GOATS. And in true Tarah fashion, feelings. God can this woman right feelings. ALL THE STARS.
When i saw that Tarah Dewitt (Author of Funny Feelings!) had a new book coming out i was so excited!
Tarah Dewitt write funny. relatable and cute love stories. I love how her stories have hints of her other characters in her new books as well.
Sage and Fisher are fantastic and you will Savor this book!
After tarnishing his reputation and now having custody of his teenage niece, Fisher is given another chance - to consult for a new restaurant being built in Spunes, Oregon for the summer. It’s in this small town that he meets Sage, a local with a heart of gold … who also happens to be his temporary neighbor. In an attempt to get the towns people on his side, Sage and Fisher act like a couple in front if others and in return Fisher will help Sage participate in a silly town tradition. The two become closer and feelings grow stronger but in the back of their mind they know it all has an end date.
this … this was a struggle. It was a lot of details in the beginning that slow (and I mean slowly) built up to the plot. overall, I didn’t find the story particularly memorable. The best part was the farm animals. I was really hoping for more.
I was only half way through the book when I knew I would be giving it 5 stars. Tarah Dewitt was able to quickly give depth and soul to her characters that had me rooting for their happiness the whole time. It was giving the small town charm and quirkiness of Gilmore Girls that I love. Will be one of my favorite romance books of the year.
I have always been fond of small-town, fake dating romances, but this book exceeded my expectations. The story revolves around a burnt-out chef from a big city and his niece. They are sent to spend their summer in a small West Coast town to try and rebuild themselves and their relationship. To their surprise, their only neighbour becomes more than anticipated.
This book is more than just your average romance read. I was sucked in and completely invested by the end of the second chapter. This book had me laughing and crying by the end. The connection that these characters had was palpable.
If you are a fan of the following, this is a book to pick up.
Fake Dating
Small Towns
Single Guardians
Adorable animals
Strong FMC
Grumpy x Sunshine
Friends to Lovers
This was the kind of book where you let out a contented sigh after reading the last line. An easy five stars, I find the best books are ones where the author makes me care about the characters without me noticing, and that’s exactly what Tarah Dewitt did here with Sage and Fisher. I felt like I knew them, like I’d seen them grow and break and heal little by little — I felt quite literally every emotion reading this book and it was so beautiful!
