So much better then I expected! Couldn’t put it down! When a tall stranger talks Delilah into opening her shop after hours, she gets more then she expects. Christian has found his one and only, now to convince her!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own

Thank you Xpresso Book Tours and Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. I didn’t know what to expect from this book but I really enjoyed it! I loved that these two completely different individuals came together and fell in love. I think they brought out the best in each other. I loved the slow burn romance! Now that I have enjoyed this book I need to get the others immediately so that I can get a bit further into this world. (Side note I did read the rest of the series and omg these books are amazing and I will definitely continue with this series!) I really liked the side characters and can’t wait to read about their love stories! I do wish the ending hadn’t been so rushed I need the next book now!! I want to know what happens with Isaiah and Cybil! My theory is that they are mates but I could be wrong I never actually know the twists the author will throw in. I really really want a book about Dane and Gracie getting called to each other!!

The writing style was, in my opinion, very straightforward and pleasant to read. The story truly gains momentum and speed only from the halfway point onwards. While there was sufficient explanation, there were actions in the first half that I perceived as somewhat incidental and didn't contribute significantly to the unfolding events. However, in the second half, I couldn't put the book down and practically devoured it. I thoroughly enjoyed the book.

I can honestly say, I was not expecting this type of vampire story. I liked the fact, that the heroine, Delilah, didn't just fall immediately in love with Christian. He stole her from the only life she had ever known and took her to an Amish community and gave her immortality, She eventually fell in love with him, but he had to work for it. She fought against their bond at every turn, but in the end they both changed for love. I will be reading the next book in the series.

Fated Mates is my weakness! Immortal Bastards pulled at my heartstring and kept me on the edge of my seat, I was rooting for the love interests but also felt so much pain for Delilah. The enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity filled story gave me life. I enjoyed reading it and it will be a story I reread for years to come.

Nonstop suspense and action - among immortals living as Amish, an interesting spin on the vampire trope, and it works. Action, suspense, revenge, and a rather unwilling fated mate combine in a wild ride that will have you hooked from page one.

Immortal Bastard - Lydia Michaels
5/5 STARS 5/5 SPICE

I was given a free advanced reader copy of this book through NetGalley. I am leaving this honest review voluntarily.

I loved this!!! I’m conflicted on how to rate the spice. I think it deserves a 5 but just because of frequency. It was super spicy but it wasn’t extremely descriptive or crazy out of the norm stuff. I haven’t read a good Vampire book in sooooo long! I can’t wait to read the rest of this series. It’s so in-depth and good!!!! How does someone make sexy Amish Vampires? I mean come on! I’ll be honest the start of this book is confusing. But once you get into it, things make sense. Every once in a while there is a chapter from a random POV so sometimes that’s hard to follow. Once you get into the book it’s not difficult at all just those first few chapters. And it’s so hard to hate Christian! I mean come on. He’s terrible but soooo good. The whole Amish aspect was so unexpected but it was so good! And the whole community! This can totally be read as a stand-alone! I couldn’t get enough of this! This book is long but it’s worth it. I didn’t feel like it dragged on. I enjoyed watching Christian and Delilah slowly unravel one another! I would recommend this to anyone who wants a sexy vampire romance with a “controlling” MMC whose world gets shaken up by an independent FMC.

Immortal Bastard is a thrilling ride that will delight and entertain as much as it challenges and compels. This is story that will swallow you whole as your heart threatens to rebel while it desperately tries to find air to breathe. A fast pace has nothing on this journey. You fly via the speed of light and land head first into a new reality that leaves you confused and seeking answers. As those answers trickle in, you aren't sure whether to settle in or to fight for your very existence. However, soon you realize that all is not as it seems and life has thrown you into the bottom of the very ocean in order to save yourself or drown.

Delilah has carved out a life for herself. It is all hers even if there are a few hurtles. When a stunning man approaches her, she isn't sure what to do. Her body demands one thing while her head and heart are at odds. How can one man cause such havoc for her from his mere presence? Christian is on the hunt. He is completely single-minded in his mission. When he finds his prize, he will stop at nothing to have all of her. Their undeniable chemistry allows him to taste what is his without much resistance, and he revels in the joy of finding his treasure. Will Delilah accept everything he has to offer, or will she return to her previous life and leave him in to a devastating future?

While they both had a lot to learn about each other, they are at least wiling to find out about the other and work through compromises to make their burgeoning life together not so rough and agonizing. Two stubborn hearts usually spell disaster, but when one or both are wiling to show some vulnerability, it helps to soften a hard heart and allow compassion and grace to flow as it opens eyes and reveals truths. The love that began to grow as a result was such a breathtaking revelation! They felt like children learning to walk and growing with the world around them. It was both a harrowing and entrancing time that helped to unite them together.

Lydia Michael is a wickedly talented author who took me one mind-bending thrill ride. I am now extremely curious as to where this provocative series will go from this point. I have just had a taste of her world, but now I must have more of this fascinating journey to fully appreciate its genius and to satisfy my unending curiosity.

Delilah Starling, a struggling tattoo artist, meets Christian Schrock in a bar but the night turns out very unexpected. Kidnapped and forced into a mated bond that she did not want Delilah is forced into an Amish Immortal (“vampire”) community by Christian. They constantly fight each other because of lack of trust and different views of religion and lifestyle. Can they both accept change and their new reality to be happy together?

“Immortal Bastard” by Lydia Michaels was not something I would ever read. To be super truthful I feel very dupped into reading the book. I would never have read an Amish book, and the synopsis did not mention it at all probably because very few people would read. I will not be reading anymore of this series and probably not read any other books by her because I feel lied to. 1 out of 5 stars.

This was a good read and easy to follow.

The FMC finds herself captured by the MMC, who is an elder vampire wanting to have his fated mate all the himself. As much as she tries to fight him on it, she has to fight her lust for him first.

This is a standalone book, and can be read separately.

I’m not really sure what to say about this book. I really enjoy Lydia Michaels books and the first book in this series was a fun, enjoyable read. But this book was not a good read for me, it has nothing to do about the writing or the plot, but the couple. I felt no chemistry between them unless they were being intimate. The hate part felt way to drawn out for me and both the characters actions really enjoyed me at times. Still the parts were they were happy and in love I really enjoyed and I did like seeing Christian change his perspective a little bit for Delilah.
I’m still going to continue the series and the blurb for the next book really peaked my interest

I love Lydia's ability to completely capture every emotion in this story and what a wild roller-coaster it is.
Delilah lives a simple life, working hard, doing a job she loves, creating permanent body art for those who stop by her tattoo shop, what she didn't anticipate is the tall mysterious Christian who would change her life completely.
Christian lives his life in a quiet, organised manner according to those of the elders within "The Order" until he gets the calling for his destined mate, taking her quick and completing the bond, he soon realises what a spitfire his mate is, not only does he have a challenge of convincing her, this new life is where she's meant to be, getting complete submission to their way of living, his and those he cares about lives are about to face a showdown no one was prepared for.
Absolutely fantastic, gripping story of fated immortals and their fight to survive. A must read for anyone who loves vampire stories ❤️

This book was very different, a different take on vampires. So the vampires are Amish, and they live on a farm to protect themselves from humans. Christian is a vampire who kidnaps his mate- Delilah, a modern woman. She has difficulties adjusting to the life Christian wants for her. Very interesting. A good read though!

Read if you like:
Mates
Vampires
Amish themes

This was an interesting book for me. I was not a fan of how backwards the community was and how easily the main character just became complacent with her situation. While this is a fun read with dynamic characters and a nice plot. It is not for those who could be triggered by the exuberant amount of misogyny and how the FMC is treated as property for the majority of the novel.
It can be difficult to swallow that Delilah is forced to belong to Christian just because they are mates and his wants are placed far above her own.
The book itself is well written and not a bad read. I would recommend it for those who like captive romances and the patriarchal dynamics in a novel.

Immortal Bastard is book 4 in The Order of Vampires series by Lydia Michael.
She has given us a riveting story with characters so wonderfully developed that I instantly fell in love with and couldn't stop reading.
Lydia captures the most romantic, enthralling characters ever.
This story pulled me in immediately and didn’t let go.
I enjoyed everything about The Order of Vampires!

I am not usually a fan of books about Vampires/Immortals/Undead or any of those tropes, however this book and the whole series, by Lydia Michaels is fabulous!

Delilah is struggling, but keeping her head above water, mostly. She decides to treat herself to a night out and meets Christian in a bar. She is immediately attracted to him. Christian owns the room, and keeps other men away from Delilah. They decide to take their attraction to a more private location. Once there, Christian's need for her overwhelms them both. When she wakes up, she's far away from her life, her business, and her friends. Christian tries to explain what has happened, that they are destined to be together and Delilah is his mate. As a down to earth liberated woman, you can imagine how that goes over!

The story is about give and take, learning to love and accept things that are almost unacceptable to both of them. As a 300 year old Immortal, Christian thinks he's in command. As his 30ish wife, Delilah isn't having any of that without some input from her! The way they come to the middle to work things out is amazing.

There are characters from the first 3 books that are also part of this story. Although it can be read as a standalone, I think you'll get more enjoyment reading the books in order to really understand some of the nuances about 'The Order' and what makes them tick. Then ending was exciting and sets the stage for the next book in the series. CAN. NOT. WAIT.

Delilah is a tattoo artist with her own little shop. Times are tough and she had to let go her two employees. Sitting in a bar drinking, she meets a dark, handsome man. She takes him back to her shop and they have sex. But something strange happens and she sees blood all over herself and passes out.

Christian is a very old immortal and has found his true mate. If he doesn't claim her, he will die. They live on blood like vampires but are not vampires. So he kidnaps Delilah and takes her back to the farm. They are Amish immortals and live like the Amish. He has turned her without her permission.

Will Delilah be able to live the simple life on the farm? Will she ever forgive Christian for kidnapping her?

I'll be honest I almost didn't finish this book. I read some other reviews and thought this isn't a book I'll like but once I got started it was hard to put down. There is a little cliffhanger. Bloody. Sex. Christian believes because she's his mate that it was alright for him to take her and that just bothered me a little.

Book 4 in the series. I hadn’t read the previous books. I was not expecting Amish Vampires however this book was still incredibly spicy.

I was not a fan of the “immortals” super religious and oppressive culture. They use the Amish culture as a disguise to keep their community safe but are also rigidly religious which proved difficult for the FMC.

Delilah is a modern woman. She owns a tattoo parlor and is very independent. When Christian is “called” to find his mate and tracks her to a bar he doesn’t waste time taking what he wants. While Delilah consents to having sex with the hot stranger she doesn’t consent to being bitten and turned into an immortal vampire against her will and then is kidnapped.

Christian takes Delilah to his farm where she is forced to wear Amish clothing including a kapp, she’s not allowed to talk to other males or go anywhere without Christian, she’s not allowed to leave and go back to her life, she’s not allowed to curse (even in her own head because he can read her mind) or he spanks her and he forces her to go to church service even though she is atheist.

I enjoyed the beginning where Delilah fights back, mouths off and refuses to give an inch though slowly she gives In because “the sex is good”. She makes a lot of compromises but Christian hardly makes any and so she has no autonomy or independence or say in anything really. It’s a frustrating pill to swallow when she finally stops fighting and even expresses that she actually likes this new life forced on her.

There are a lot of interesting side stories including Christian’s independent mother, Adriel who has been hiding from Christian’s psycho abusive father for 300 years. Dane and Cybil, I hope they are able to find a way to undo what happened to Cybil and Juniper who is a witch taken captive and accused of cursing an elder but who appears to be more a victim with a story of her own to tell.

Most of the characters in the community are insufferable with their strict adherence to “family law” that prevents them from helping Delilah when in the beginning she begs the other female mates to help her they just hand her back over to Christian because apparently what he wants is more important than what she wants.

I enjoyed the tension, the spice, Delilah’s attitude in the beginning and the side stories. I didn’t enjoy the misogyny.
