We really enjoyed this book - particularly the kids with ponies. It started a conversation about how we grow out of things but still love them - old toys etc, and how some friends are not forever.
Regardless of the reason, if you’re looking for a book to read to your children about finding their pony a new home or starting to ride a different horse, this book is perfect. As a mom, with a six-year-old and a four year old, my girls loved the story, and the illustrations ate beautiful. I surprisingly got very emotional while reading the story, so be warned parents. It’s sweet and it is the perfect book to have when ultimately the time comes and it’s time to say goodbye to their pony.
I don’t usually rate children’s books, but I saw this book available to read on Net Galley and couldn’t pass it up.
As a long time horse-girl and horse-lover, this book made me extremely emotional in the best way. The illustrations are beautiful and accurate, showing that this author & illustrator team take great care in their work and make a strong team.
Told from Posey the pony’s perspective, we learn that although she loves her kid and they make a great team, sadly her kid outgrows her and she gets passed on and on, leaving a piece of her heart with each kid she taught to ride. There is a happy ending here, when she finds her forever home. But this book is a wonderful reminder that good lesson ponies are worth their weight in gold and meant to be cherished by all. ❤️
Recommended reading age is 5-10 years old, which I believe is appropriate. I think this book sends an important message to kids and portrays a very real and emotional scenario in a way kids can understand. Regardless of your age, this is a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ book!
Thank you to the publisher and Net Galley for providing me with an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
My niece will love this book! She loves all things horses and the artwork in this book is absolutely beautiful!
This book made me quite emotional but happier towards the end!
Based on true events and translated from German, this book tells the story of a pony who is passed from one family to another as the child in a family grows older. The pony is confused and wants to actually belong.
I find the story quite heartwarming and the art work really good.
This book would make a good memorable bed time read.
Thank you, Bound To Happen Publishing, for the advance reading copy.
I believe this is my first book from the publisher and I am thoroughly impressed. I am so grateful for this opportunity.
I don’t typically read children’s books, but as a life-long horse girl, I couldn’t resist!
Anyone’s who’s loved a pony knows how heartbreaking it is when their young rider outgrows them. This lovely book shows us what that might feel like from a pony’s perspective. This might not mean a lot to non-horse folks, but believe me that this is a perfect, heartwarming book for the young rider or lifelong pony-lover in your life.
Plus, the illustrations were fairly accurate and realistic, which unfortunately isn’t always the case with horse-related children’s books. Kudos to the illustrator.
