I LOVED this book. I enjoyed this authors take on demon romance . I’ve become more obsessed with those as of late, and I’m glad I can add this to my collection. Desi & Jace are everything I could have wanted and more in a book couple.

What’s what:
Desi is a demon princess who needs to find an eternal partner before taking over her own Circle in Infernis (where all the demons live). She was not having luck finding another demon as a partner, so she has been allowed to enter the human realm for 90 days to find a human partner. While there, she meets Jace and Cannon while apartment hunting. Both Cannon and Desi end up moving in with Jace.

Desi attempts to learn about dating (and the joys of dating apps) while subsequently becoming closer with her roommates, and continuing the search for a partner. *Not a love triangle*.

My thoughts:
For as long as this book was, I felt both the fantasy and romance aspects were underdeveloped, which really caused it to drag. There were so many pages that added absolutely nothing to the story, or development of the plot or characters. I will say I thought the last 15% picked up quite nicely again (though why it had to wait until this close to the end I don’t know), but what about the 40% before that? It took me 3 days to read the middle section of this book. I kept putting it down because it wasn’t holding my interest.

After reading this, I’m not quite sure why Desi and Jace liked each other, or if there even was a reason beyond “chemistry” *cough* they thought the other was hot*. There were glimpses where it all started to come together for me, but then it seemed to be a 1 step forward and 2 steps back situation.

I did enjoy the anxiety representation in one of the main characters, and appreciate how light is shed here. What I think would have helped make this aspect stronger was if the authors would have revealed some of the why earlier on. I don’t need to read over and over that Jace has anxiety or he has issues. Tell me why, shoe me why that impacts his decisions, even if they are breadcrumbs to help me understand later. There was already so much going on and rushed at the end of the book, the explanation for the anxiety was not in the right place.

I found it confusing near the end of the story that all of a sudden several characters were determined to not be human? Or at least have their symbols? But at other times it mentions the human has to pick where their energy goes when they die. It felt contradictory to the earlier stages of the book where it seemed much less likely that angels and demons were just coexisting in the human realm.

This isn’t a bad story by any means, but in my honest opinion it could have used some additional beta readers. With the flow being off and what I felt to be an underdeveloped story, I was not as hooked by this one as I wanted to be. Still a decent read with an interesting concept and some fun dialogue.

This book was freaking amazing. It was everything so needed. These authors write magic!

I am so grateful I got to read this Arc so I can help tell the world how good it is. It’s super cozy and perfectly steamy. The characters are relatable and lovable. I devoured it quickly because I didn’t want to put it down.

If your looking for a book to hit more then one criteria this fits the bill. It’s very grumpy meets sunshine with a mix of magic realism. The daughter of chaos has 90 days to find a human partner and bring him home. There’s many mishaps, humor, suspense and cozy love. I swear there was one whole chapter I didn't breathe as I was waiting to see the outcome. I had a lot of feelings during this read but at the end it was amazing.

Is paranormal contemporary romance a thing? If it wasn't before it might be now! I tend to avoid contemporary romance and usually favor fantasy, but this read had me reading faster than I have read another book in a long while. I couldn't put it down.
The ending was amazing! I was extremely worried for all the characters involved right up until the very end.
I loved Cannon till the end, too. Desi was so fun to learn about- I feel like I know her really well and I want to know so much more about her family! Jace was a very well-written character. At times I found myself thinking "why are you doing this?!?" but then he would be vulnerable and I would completely understand why he was reacting that way. I loved the twists and turns that shocked me at every turn. The unique hierarchies were so interesting and thought-provoking as well. Lastly... I need to be Glen's best friend. He's my hero XD

I received an e-arc of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book up to about 60 or 70% through. I feel like the last 30 to 40% of the book was very slow and I found myself skimming through a lot to get to the ending. I also was not a big fan of all the talking during the spicy scenes. It completely killed the mood for me. I feel like this could’ve been a case for less is more. I love the premise. I enjoyed the romance, and I think the characters were decently written. I just feel like the last bit could be cleaned up, edited and shortened. I did like the little twist at the end although I did predict it I didn’t expect what would happen because of the twist. That sounds way more mysterious than it actually is but I did like that. I also was getting very annoyed with Jace by the end because I just needed him to get his shit together and stop being such a pain.

Desi is a demon looking for love in 90 days. Cue the two hot roommates; a golden retriever and a grumpy neat freak, one seemingly perfect and the other she’s inexplicably drawn to. This book hit a lot of tropes, and I found it to be genuinely funny at times. The spice was there, the relationships were not instant-love but actually grown from attraction to more, and I love that Jaces anxiety was consistent. Too often anxious characters are suddenly not anxious after something goes right but Jace was written well, his anxiety was irrational at times but that’s realistic, you can’t control when you’ll suffer an anxiety attack. I enjoyed the romance, the drama and the story. This was an easy read with lots to keep you entertained.

I think I went into this with my expectations a little too high. Every time I saw this come across my feed, it was a rave review. And while this book isn’t bad, it simply didn’t wow me.

Desi is a demon princess who comes to earth to find her true love in ninety days. Jace is a man with major trust issues due to previous betrayals, and Cannon is a generic nice guy/best friend.

I liked Desi's relationship with both of the guys. Platonic with Cannon and romantic with Jace. But I couldn’t fully invest in the romance for some reason, and given that this book is primarily romance driven this hindered my ability to enjoy the book.

Overall, it just doesn’t stand out in a sea of books.

Rating this book a 2.5 stars but rounding up on here.

The premise of this book was very interesting. Demons and angels and our FMC (a demon) is in the human realm for 3 months trying to find a partner to rule with her in Infernis.

There were lots about this book that I liked and intrigued me but over time some plot points just fell short.

First of all, I have NEVER wished for a why choose and here I was making excuses for why this should be. (it is NOT)

Second, it's called Unleashing Chaos and the FMC is supposed to have this "chaos" but nothing she did was chaotic. She's kind and pretty and cares about people and is orderly and clean and not chaotic at all.

Third, I did not understand why we spent the entire book with Desi trying to help Jace with his company and investments only to have the goal be that he abandoned it all and left it.

The story and pacing moves well and I like Jace and Desi's romance as well as her friendship with Cannon (though there is a moment where Jace is "directing" things and I'm like... come on. It should just be a why choose!).

I thought the mental health aspect was pretty well done though it does take Jace FOREVER to come to his senses.

It's an ok book but it wasn't totally for me.

Thanks to NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for this review.

Desi is a Demon Princess looking for a husband in the human world and only has 90 days! Jace is looking for a quiet roommate to stay out of his way and Cannon just wants to keep everyone happy! Not going to lie, I was rooting for them to be throuple the whole time... they do not, but it was still really good! Des and Jace had awesome chemistry, I loved their bickering and fighting. through a random turn of events they end up in a fake relationship that turns steamy and it was fantastic!! Cannon is the best friend ever and I did not love the way they doubted him in the end! I totally thought Desi's dad was going to be like an evil demon king but there was so much more to her family and I loved their bonds!! The twist at the end was really good! I also just really enjoyed how Jace's anxiety and trauma was done, it felt so realistic and I just wanted to give him a hug! It was nice to read a standalone romantasy for once as well, it wrapped up so good in one book without feeling rushed or like something was missing!

Put a grumpy man in glasses and you have me in the palm of your hand.

Desi has 90 days in the human world to find an eternal partner. She has little knowledge of how anything works but manages to find herself two hot roommates in the perfect house. And then she tries the dating scene. It's...hilarious and painful, and makes it blatantly obvious that she needs the two men in her life to help her figure things out, even when the perfect person is right in front of her and won't let her in.

Jace is the owner of the house, Cannon is the other roommate. Despite the tension when they first cohabitate, the friendship between the three of them is wonderful to read. Even as Desi fights her attraction to a very broken, no relationships ever Jace, the foundation of real connection is there in the way they tease and help each other, and what they bond over. Because Desi and Cannon are easier with each other, their friendship grows first, but as Desi and Jace get more comfortable, their relationship does too.

Jace is somehow both understandable, even relatable, but also beyond frustrating. I wanted to shake him so hard and scream at him to wake up. Stop letting the bad things win. Because when he's good, he's so incredibly good. Dedicated, charming, silly, and able to put up a very good front when it matters. Without spoilers, I will say this had one of the best therapy scenes I've read in a book, and it made a difference for the character's decision. Jace is also super sexy so you're going to forgive him a lot even when you think he's being an idiot.

I enjoyed the concept of the afterlife presented here - it's neutral and not overly religious, while also tapping into mythology, theology, and concepts that a lot of people are familiar with.

I did not see the events of the end coming, and it had me on the edge of my seat figuring out how it was going to resolve. Some drama and secrets, grand gestures, and a wayward snack cake keep you going. The book as a whole builds and builds and then just explodes into all sorts of action. I had fun with it.

The highlight of the writing here is the way they describe Desi and Jace pining for the other. Poetic, desperate, sad, and lusty, it was some of my favorite parts of the book even when those moments were also angsty.

Also, they turned a dorky lightsaber fight into very hot flirting, so...that's reason enough to read this.

Never fear unleashing your chaos; it can change the world

Spicy ;)
Duel POV: Desi- FMC / Jace- MMC

What a fun, comical ride!
I laughed so much while reading Unleashing Chaos.
(especially her first date...
I don't know why I found it funny, but my stomach hurt after laughing so hard)
Connor is a great friend! He made me crave fried pickles!

I would say majority of the book I was having a great time...but the push and pull of Jace and Desi...well

Desi is a demon needing to find an eternal partner in 90 days...super easy!

A few situations arise where Jace and Desi use each other in fake dating scenarios!
We all know how these work, feelings get caught.
"She's a little hurricane, leaving mayhem in her wake. But in the eye of her storm, there is a sweet moment of calm. She is the most beautiful chaos"

Jace really knows how to make a women swoon with words, and the banter between those two...
and the spice...
"Daddy, huh? Keep it up and sneak into my bedroom again, and I'll show you how daddy I can be"

But Jace has his issues. Issues that caused me to scream and almost throw my phone across the room! Don't get me wrong, I understand why he had his issues but come on dude.
'I didn't realize how lonely I was until I wasn't anymore'

And Desi...she's an amazing FMC. She's stronger then I would be. She swallowed her hurt, and kept what her duty was to her home/family. It killed me to see her so sad.

At one point, I couldn't even enjoy the spicy time. Yah, me...unable to enjoy the spicy...
(view spoiler on goodreads)

The ending was interesting to say the least. I really haven't read any rom coms, but I think this had a sprinkle of that vibe. The ending was just unrealistic/comical.
Like...whoopsy. My mouth was hanging open! Funny!

Even though Jace made me mad, I still had such a great time reading Unleashing Chaos.
I love Desi, new fav FMC. Ugh, I just want to be friends with them!
Quick and easy read! Try it out!

Thank you to Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group @wattpadbooks and the authors for the gifted e-book.

This was an intriguing paranormal romance about Desi, a demon princess from Infernis who has only 90 days to find her soulmate, or her father will choose one for her. In a race against time, Desi ventures into the human realm and meets Jace, who struggles with commitment. Despite their mutual attraction, the question remains: can Jace overcome his own issues to be with Desi?

Desi is portrayed as a strong and capable character, and her banter with Jace is both entertaining and humorous. The world-building of Infernis is truly imaginative and well-crafted, and the interactions between Jace and Desi had me invested in their potential romance.

If you're a fan of fantasy, I highly recommend keeping an eye out for this book, set to be released on June 11, 2024.

Thank you to the publisher, authors, and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Unleashing Chaos, tells the story of a demon Princess, Desi, given 90 days to find an eternal partner. She doesn't want a platonic relationship. She wants true love, but 90 days isn't that long. The story opens with Desi looking for a place to rent a room for her time in Denver. Her brother and his husband are looking with her and this room for rent in a house seems like the last option after a day of looking. When she arrives at the house a young man, Cannon, arrives at the same time. She and Cannon tour the house together both hoping to get the one room that was advertised by Jace. This is the set up for our three main characters who end up living together.

While I really enjoyed parts of this novel there were parts where I just felt disconnected and found myself wanting to skip paragraphs. Some of this was Jace our love interest, some of it was the fact that Cannon and Desi while "platonic" had a relationship that just didn't come across as platonic. I get that not all relationships are the same but this just didn't work for me. Jace and Desi have chemistry but I had a hard time with how much they yo-yoed back and forth from lust to disagreement and avoiding each other. After all of this the ending felt rushed and not believable.

This was my first read by these authors and I'd be willing to give them another chance. The setting between Infernis, and Denver was interesting. I also liked the demons (with the seven sins) and angels set up of the story, so if there was another book in this setting I'd give it a chance. I just had higher expectations for this book and while it was enjoyable it did not meet them.

RATING: 4.5/5

I was so thrilled that I got the opportunity to review “Unleashing Chaos.” The tropes alone had me eager to drop everything and start reading: fake dating, forced proximity, roommates to lovers, anxiety rep (MMC), touch her/touch him and die, spicy, curvy FMC, and did I mention that the FMC is a demon princess. Yes, there’s that little tidbit.

Desi’s father, the king of demons, has given her 90 days to find a life partner––or else. And, of course, she wants to find love. She has her roommates help her: her best friend, Cannon, and her other roommate, Jace, whom she likes a lot.

The thing about “Unleashing Chao” is that it takes the PNR themes and integrates them into more mainstream. For readers entering the PNR genre or who enjoy reading a story with modern elements, “Unleashing Chao” is perfect.

The romance storyline was sweet. I loved Jace and Desi. They had terrific chemistry. The authors described Jace’s mannerisms in so much detail that I could honestly get a sense of how he was feeling.

Like most PNR stories, expect character and story building at the front end. There is spice, but things heat up a bit later, which I don’t mind. Overall, I enjoyed it.

I got about a third of the way through, but this just was not the book for me. First and foremost, trauma can make it difficult for a person to live what is considered a "normal life" and experience typical interactions, especially where anxiety disorders are involved, but the way this book repeatedly refers to Jace as "damaged" is just insulting. Secondly, I hated the way Cannon was treated like "You're so great and why can't every guy be like you and I'd love to end up with someone like you" but it isn't actually him. Felt like a cop out. Further, each of the characters felt so two dimensional. Like they were given a typecast and written true to the typecast and that was it. A lot of people will love this book, but between the writing and the characters, I just wasn't one of them.

This was a cute book.
It doesn’t have a ton of tension, more just going back and forth between “I love you” “I can’t love you because I’m broke” which does get a little redundant after the 700th time (exaggerating a touch but not completely lol) the declarations of love, followed by “but I’m broken” happens a lot, and I probably could have done without like 6 chapters of it.
But, I did enjoy the story.
Des is a baddie and that’s always welcome imo.
The love story flows and makes sense all while
Being adorable. Bonding over Star Wars made my nerdy brain so happy.
The ending felt a little thrown together, like, it almost seemed like they forced some sort of trials so the book would have more tension, the last few chapters didn’t feel like the rest of the book, which is the only reason it’s a 4 star instead of 5.
But it was a good book, and the spice was spicy.
A lot of reviews I read said it’s more spice than plot, but I think we were reading different books lol, because the spice doesn’t happen till like 55% of the way into the book, and even after that it’s only a handful of scenes. If that counts as to much spice, then those readers def shouldn’t go into dark romance 😂
All in all it was a good book and I recommend it.

Dual POV...Forced proximity...Fake dating...oh and a paranormal twist....SIGN ME UP! First off, seeing Jace, our MMC, with anxiety and panic attacks is such a sweet and awesome take. I’ve read many books where it’s the female with the mental health issue, so for it to be the male, was good because I know men who do suffer. But Jace, my man, he’s a secret dirty boy. He may not have wanted Desi as a roommate but he definitely can’t get enough of her. And that night they watch each other...that was hot on a different level! Desi came to Denver find someone to stand by her as she rules, but finding that in your OCD, possessive yet off limits roommate...that’s a juicy twist. Their connection is truly powerful and there’s no denying it, even when they tried. I loved how accepting they were of each other and when Jace tells Desi about his past, her loving him regardless was just amazing. Jace was so accepting of Desi and her family yet being scared to take that leap only to have that Hallmark “No you can’t marry him!” moment made my heart happy. I liked the twist with her other roommate/friend/liar/pawn (you’ll see)...I was surprised at how it was going but definitely was glad it didn’t go too evil like it could have. This was a great read but authors I have come to love and can’t wait to see what they write next.

I have no words for how amazing this book was, but I’m going to try.

Watching Desi navigate her way through the human realm, becoming friends with her roommates Jace and Cannon and try to find love was brilliant. Each character had their flaws and something to overcome and it made them so special. Jace will forever be my favorite anxious grumpy introverted book boyfriend.

I related so hard with him and his frequent catastrophizing anxiety. I loved the mental health rep and how it was handled.

Desi was someone you couldn’t help but root for and cheer her on as she found herself and her way of ruling. She was such a kind soul and I loved the chaos she brought wherever she went.

As always, I absolutely loved Crystal & Felicity’s writing style. They made a paranormal romance that feels refreshingly modern and easy to read. It’s entertaining, funny and the chemistry is out of this realm (hahaha). I could not put it down and fell in love with the story immediately.

Also did I mention it’s spicy? A perfect story!

Thank you to NetGalley and Wattpadbooks for the opportunity to read this story!

This book... confused me to say the least. I was into it in the beginning but then my interest slowly began to wane, which continued. The spice was OK, but I feel like the two settings didn't transition well, it seemed like too much of a jump. I didn't really like the main characters, the MMC seemed thrown in but the FMC needed more development.
