I thought this book was really good, I liked the premise of it. The reason for the 4 stars is just because I personally could not connect with the characters and that is an important part to me when I’m reading. Other than that I would recommend this one to many because it was a really good read!
Good Plot! Love the beginning of the book but I didn't like different MMC involved but was overall good
⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
2.5/5 stars.
This book was ok for me, I think the idea had a lot of potential but some of it fell a little flat.
The spice was good, and I did like that the characters actually discussed their feelings with each other out in the open like real life people (I cannot stand the miscommunication trope)
I could have done without “plot twist” at the end, as I feel it didn’t really add anything of substance to the story.
I loved the banter between Desi & Jace. The book was amazing. I love a good grumpy/sunshine with a dash of fake dating. Especially when there is that one "f*ck it" moment.
Highly recommend.
Romcom readers who are fans of supernatural or paranormal romance and reality TV shows will probably like this book. Definitely a silly, fun escape book. I liked the concept and lots of hooky tropes to attract readers with. However, the writing was fairly flat and the characters felt more like caricatures than people to me. More young teen soap opera type drama, but not the enjoyable type that sucked me in. It’s partially personal preference. I think if some readers jive with the author’s style of writing, then it will be a fun read. I read a few chapters and decided that I didn’t want to read through the writing for the rest of the story.
The was a good book. It is a slow burn with a little spice. The end was a little boring though. It had likeable characters.
Super hot Desi finds herself in desperate need to find a husband and 90 days and does all the wrong things. This is a tale of a demon 90 day fiance lol and it’s full of hilarious friendly banter and then smoldering romance 🤤🌶️. This is classified as a fantasy romance novel, but the fantasy aspect is very low key until the very end when it kind of smacks you in the face and is a bit much, but overall I still enjoyed reading it and I loved the relationship building in this book it is so wholesome. I’d recommend this for anyone who like friends to lovers, forced proximity, and fake dating tropes! Thank you for the ARC read!
I loved this book! Desideria and Jace were really fun to read and the tropes were awesome! One bed, Dom energy, dirty nerdy, the banter. Needless to say it was stuffed ;P
Desi has been tasked by her father to find an “eternal partner” in 90 days. Desi has decided instead of taking a demon partner, she wants to find true love with a human. She ends up in Denver with 2 roommates Jace and Cannon. Desi has this low key, mellow vibe. But Jace has this type A, structured, perfectionist vibe. I think from right at the point of their meet cute, they are eachothers perfect opposite, though neither would admit that. Desi swears off her roommates as a potential partner but asks for their help in the process. Cannon is that 3rd wheel friend, who fits in with everyone, flirts and at the same time is never where you want him or need him. The 3 take on a little adventure so Desi can find her eternal partner and get back home to rule her own sin circle.
I really like how the 7 sins played a part in the storyline (other books in the future for the other sins?). I definitely got this “90 Day Fiancé” type of vibe, but with demons and angels. The premise was interesting and the story was a lot of fun.
Thank you NetGalley and Wattpad Books for a copy of this ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I went into this read with very little context for what I got into, simply because I enjoy chaos. I was not disappointed. Desi is a demon, who is destined to reign over a circle of hell, but first she needs to find love. Well, at least someone she can tolerate spending an eternity with. None of the demons she met in the last 100 year caught her interest for long, so obviously she decides to look for love in the human realm. She winds up with two very attractive roommates and a whole lot of romance tropes to explore over the course of the book. There's a bit of fake dating, some forced proximity, grumpy and shine, all combined with nerd love, solid banter, and so much chemistry.
Solid, slightly chaotic read. Totally worth picking up!
This was a good read. I struggled with the flow in parts but found it overall enjoyable. It was a unique premise and the story kept me interested. I'm also a sucker for forced proximity so that helps.
Overall if you can overcome the some what patchy writing and focus on the story line and the characters and their development it was great and you'd enjoy it if you're a romantasy fan!
When I applied for this ARC, this book was advertising everything I liked in a book.
- Forced Proximity
- Mental Illness Rep
- Dual POV
- Paranormal, demon-involved romance
While the book did have everything listed above, I couldn’t bring myself to finish this book. I DNFed at chapter 15. The writing was not good enough for it to be able to read well continuously, and the editing was lacking. I also hated the FMC, Desideria, and I think it’s because she had almost no personality, or at least it didn’t come across strongly on page. She seemed to be very obedient and rolled over at the poke of a stick and didn’t have much of a backbone. I stayed until chapter fifteen because of Cannon. I felt like he was genuinely sweet towards Desi, and cared for her wellbeing. But in general, all the characters didn’t feel real to me and fell a bit flat.
The summary and tropes will be something future readers will look forward too, but I don’t think this book is quite there yet. Personally, I don’t think it’s ready to be published, as the editing and characters need so much work. I think it has potential, though, so I’m going to give this book a 2/5 stars.
Thank you so much to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
I thought the premise of this book sounded really good, however, it came off very YA when I thought it was going to be adult. It fell a little short for me.
Demons meet 90 day fiancé, and fake dating? Say less. All my little vices rolled into one.
I thought this story was so fun. Desideria is not your average demon by mqking deals and stealing souls.
She's more of a laid back kind if demon.
The banter was great. I wish we had more moments with Glen because I honestly feel like he is my spirit animal.
Jace was kinda perfect. I also have anxiety, so it's always nice to have a character that you can kind of relate to.
There were some dark moments, but overall this is a fluffy little ball of chaos.
I enjoyed it from start to finish.
I thought it was going to be a darker romance because of the cover, but it's not.
This was a great little adventure.
Really exciting premise that just fell short. This read more like a sappy hallmark movie than a sexy paranormal romance. And while I’m all for a sappy romance, I was so excited for this book that it was disappointing for it to end up like this. The storyline and characters are one dimensional. The romance is the only reason I finished the book because it was cute at the beginning but towards the end it just became frustrating. The FMC is the most naive being in the universe and she’s supposed to have been alive for centuries. I understand the human realm is new to her but she does not have an ounce of sense. The MC was exciting at the beginning but hard to like the more you read his responses. The reasons behind his actions were sad and meant to make the reader empathetic towards him but the way it was written for him to tell her was so abrupt and then they moved on. This also led to the same push and pull arguments between the characters for the second half of the book. This book has potential to be great but it didn’t quite make it there in my opinion.
Desi is a demon princess, who's not only looking for a roommate in the human world, but looking for a partner for eternity. Oh, and she only has ninety days to find him.
She's over a century old, but hasn't really ever dated, so good thing her hunky roommates, Jace and Cannon are here to help.
🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
✨ Anxiety rep 💝
✨ Demons 😈
✨ Grumpy MMC/Sunshine FMC
✨ Fake dating
✨ Slow burn romance ❤️🔥
I don't usually gravitate towards books that are set in the "real" world, but add a little demon princess in and I started liking it pretty quickly.
Being a demon, Desi wasn't well versed with the human world. Yes, she was naïve, but there were a lot of funny interactions with the guys. Like them just constantly saying "HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW WHAT STAR WARS IS?!" I couldn't help but laugh.
Jace eventually (and accidentally) finds out that Desi is a demon, and I legit lol'd at: "What in the fucking magical ass Mary Poppins trippy shit is this?” among other very funny moments.
I could see how the book could read a little YA-ie, but I thought Desi was very sweet. And the "fake dating" trope was pure 🔥🔥 and I loved the spice. The banter was amazing as well.
There was some formatting issues, but as it's an early ARC, it didn't take away from the reading experience or the story itself.
* Thank you to Watt Pad Books and NetGalley for my eARC in exchange for my honest review *
Thank you NetGalley for the read!
I’m not sure how I feel but this was the first book I DTF and felt that it was supposed to be an adult book but felt very YA and juvenile. There many errors that should have been addressed and formatting that should have been looked at by the publisher.
Elements:
Dual POV
It had forced proximity
Grumpy/ sunshine
Fake dating
I feel bad for not being able to finish but I hope to give it another chance when I have the time. The idea is great and I feel like it can catch on with a more polished copy.
Unleashing Chaos was a fast paced, easy to read novel with relatable characters (especially the demons).
Our demon princess Desi is looking for her eternal partner, but instead ends up rooming with the least emotionally available man on earth (Jace), and a hot piece who unfortunately she has zero chemistry with (Cannon). Luckily the two boys are there to help guide Desi through dating in the modern realm.
This novel has a few of our favourite tropes: fake dating, grumpy/sunshine, one bed, all wrapped into one little hurricane.
Although a lot of the content of this book is Adult, it reads more like a YA novel - for that reason 3 stars.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC
I thoroughly enjoyed this book that encompasses many tropes. It is a paranormal, fake dating, friends to lovers, forced proximity style book that will keep readers entertained. Jace had encountered significant trauma and a history of abandonment resulting in anxiety and intrusive thoughts. Desi was lively and hopeful. The characters are delightfully flawed and wonderfully drawn to each other.
This was a super cute and easy to read paranormal romcom. The spice was pretty great, the banter had me giggling, and I’m so glad Desi and Jace and Cannon all get happy endings. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Had to DNF. Just not the type of story for me. The FMC was I “think” supposed to be endearing with her “what is Google” and “what is DTF” but I found myself just rolling my eyes. Thanks to NetGalley for providing a copy.
