I am really enjoying the Pearl River series by Patricia Bradley. Fatal Witness is book two in the series and does not disappoint.
The main character is swooped away to Montana from Tennessee after her parents are killed. She's raised by an uncle who does everything he can to protect her from herself and from outsiders. That's easier to do with a 9yo than it is with a 34yo who is determined to be independent and live a life of her own.
In her pursuit of growing her career one contact with an outsider changes everything. As we watcher her navigate the twists and turns the author throws at her we also get to see her faith grow, and her trust in Pearl Springs law enforcement take root. She discovers she's a lot like her grandmother who she doesn't know and just how resilient she really is.

If you're a suspense fan I think you'll like this series and especially book 2.

Another solid suspense story from a favorite author. The culprit in this whodunnit is quite the surprise! Loved the beginnings of a sweet romance. And then the dogs! Who could ask for more. Readers who enjoy mystery suspense stories will not want to miss Fatal Witness

Well, I don’t know how I missed the inaugural release of the latest series from Patricia Bradley, but somehow Counter Attack got right by me. This means I started her Pearl River series with Fatal Witness, which just released. It was written so that I do not feel like I missed anything by starting with the second book, but also so I am inspired to read Counter Attack next!

Artist Dani Collins remembers nothing about the early years of her life. She does not remember the parents who died when she was young, only growing up with Uncle Keith and always staying under the radar. But Dani has a grandmother who has not given up trying to find her, and a photo that was not supposed to be published is just the thing Mae Richmond needs to put her on the right track. Unfortunately, it is also the clue the killer needs to find Dani and Uncle Keith. Coming home means walking right into the line of fire and the protection of Mae’s neighbor, Russell County K-9 officer Mark Lassiter. Together, Dani and Mark race to unveil her memories and unravel the mystery before it is too late.

Bradley combines her trademark procedural precision with a hefty dose of romantic tension and an undeniable faith thread to bring this story of artist Dani Collins to life. The frustration of not being quite able to tickle the identity of the man who murdered her parents from her repressed memories, and of barely staying one step ahead of him as he seeks to silence her, keeps the reader engaged from the first word to the last. With a beautiful setting and well crafted support characters, Bradley had given us the gift of binge-worthy romantic suspense.

Fatal Witness by Patricia Bradley was a wild ride. I absolutely loved this book. The action and suspense had me on the edge of my seat, and the romance was so sweet. I loved getting to meet Dani, and I loved getting to learn more about Mark. Lizi and Gem, Dani and Mark’s dogs, were lovable. I can’t wait for the third book in this series!

I like this author a lot I like the suspense of the books I have read from her so I was excited to get the chance to read this one. I will say I liked the story overall, but I felt it was more of a love story with a little suspense sprinkled in here and there then the opposite. I had a hard time getting into it at first but when it did pick up I could not stop reading. I LOVED Nanny Mae that is one women you would not want to mess with. I liked Dani but I felt like the author made her out to be this fragile soul who would just snap and then some one who would take on the world, it just felt all over the place with her. Overall this book was good read and the author kept it clean so it would be suitable for all readers.

Another great Patricia Bradley book and series. Fatal Witness, book two of the Pearl River series will keep you guessing as to who is out to silence Dani Collins before she remembers who killed her parents.

Deputy Mark Lassiter is determined to keep her safe and hopefully bring a murder to justice. As the mystery unravels so does the killer as he kills again. Will they Identify him before it’s too late? Can Mark accept the consequences of his time in the military and forgive himself?

You’ll love this book and the series. It is hard to put down and will keep you captivated.

I thought this book was great. When she was nine years old, Danielle witnessed the murder of her parents. After living in relative seclusion for 25 years, she gets a call about a possible relative. As soon as she decides to pursue it, the danger ratchets up. Someone is worried about her return.

I liked Dani and Mae and Mark. It was fun having two dogs play a big role in the book as well and I always like seeing characters return from prior books, like Alexis and Nathan. There were plenty of options to choose from for villains. I like it when I can't figure it out too easily.

The suspense is great. There's non-stop danger and action. The pace is good. The story eventually unfolds. It was a fun read and I'd highly recommend it.

What a thrilling romantic suspense! The first chapter was absolutely gripping, and I was hooked until the very last word. I enjoyed the first book, but I loved this one even more. This is romantic suspense at its finest! The danger and suspense kept ramping up, and I couldn’t read it fast enough. The mystery was compelling and kept me guessing. I had my suspicions, but there were plenty of viable suspects, which had me changing my guess numerous times.

I loved the characters. (Well, most of them.) Dani and Mark were easy to like and root for. And I loved their dogs. They were awesome! My favorite character, though, had to be Mae. What a strong, resilient, stalwart, and fun lady she was! I admired how determined she was to find her granddaughter. Despite the fact that she had been missing for 25 years, Mae never gave up.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys unputdownable romantic suspense. I’m very eager to visit Pearl River again in the next book! And even though this is book two in the series, it can easily be read as a standalone.

A familiar face in a magazine brings up a case not quite cold.

Mae never gave up looking for her granddaughter, and when she sees a face in a pottery magazine she knows that she has to know the truth. She sends her neighbor and K-9 officer, Mark Lassiter to investigate, but someone else has also seen the magazine feature and now they are in a race against time to save Dani from the clutches of the killer that murdered her parents.

A fast paced read with an intricate plot, great characters and great canine companions. I liked how Mark was there for Dani, and how he lived his faith.

It was good seeing Dani have friends that she could count on, as well as slowly recover the missing pieces of her life. Though I wished that it had been more clear at the end of the book where she was spiritually.

An action packed read that kept me guessing, there was a lot going on, and plenty to keep me on my toes. Also wonderful to see familiar characters again. A highly enjoyable suspense!

Fatal Witness is the second book in Patricia Bradley’s Pearl River series. The book is action-packed from the first page. While the story can be read on its own, I highly recommend reading the first book as you’ll see some familiar faces along the way and have a little more backstory on the town and its residents.
Dani Collins doesn’t remember anything before she was nine years old. Raised by her uncle, her past is a mystery. When she receives a call from Officer Mark Lassiter telling her the grandmother she never knew wants to meet her, Dani knows it’s time to face her past and discover the truth that’s been hidden for so long.
I admit I was particularly drawn to Dani’s character since she was an artist and potter – a gift she inherited from her grandmother. I loved how she struggled with her fears but didn’t let them hold her back. Mark’s character also faced fear but his was a fear of failing those he loved. It was great watching them both grow together as they faced danger at every turn. Bradley’s character development is spot-on as always and I loved the back and forth between the two main characters. It was also great to see more of Alex and Nathan from the first book in the series.
The book was fast-paced and never stopped. There were a number of twists and turns in the plot and Bradley did an amazing job bringing the small town of Pearl River to life. She wove together Dani’s hidden past with the danger of the present. The story is full of suspense, mystery, and romance at every turn. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.

This is book two of a series but can be read as a stand-alone even though there are some characters featured in the previous book that play a part in the new story. This is another strong, Christian romantic suspense. Dani as a child witnesses the murder of her parents. Her uncle secretly takes her away from the crime scene and raises her. Due to the trauma of events, she has amnesia from that part of her life. Flashes of people are starting to surface from that past life. Dani is an artist who is featured in a magazine and that leads to her grandmother, Mae, seeing her face. Mae has always believed her granddaughter is alive and this information supports that belief. Mae asks her friend, Mark, a K-9 officer, to help track Dani down. The book is filled with murder, mystery, and secrets galore. The reestablished relationships of Dani's past plus her new connection with Mark are a nice addition to the more intense portions of the book. Looking forward to where this series will go...

This is my first introduction to this author and I was giddy with excitement when I knew within a few pages that I was reading the works of someone who is talented in their field. The love that delightful feeling I get when I ‘just know’ I’ve got my hands on a great book.

The crime happens right as the story opens and for the remainder of the story we follow the survivor as she learns about her past and becomes driven to pursue the villain/s. Bradley knows just when to provide readers the next puzzle piece they need and she discloses the information so subtly and in measured amounts that she keeps readers in constant anticipation and tension. I was so protective of the main character and eager to know how close she was to uncovering her past and identifying the villains. I found myself sailing right past the end of one chapter and into the next without realizing I’d done it.

Bradley’s ability to connect her readers with her characters is phenomenal. She writes to facilitate a true connection between them. I genuinely cared about Dani and Mark and hoped they’d be able to get some sense of closure for their past.

This book may have been about uncovering the truth, but it’s also about forgiveness, justice, and belonging. Bradley has achieved her goal of placing her readers ‘where love and faith cross paths with murder.’

My heart was thumping the whole time I was in Pearl Springs, Tennessee and I can’t wait to return.

This is Patricia Bradley at her finest! The premise of this book is one of the most intriguing I have read and the payoff is 100% satisfying. The cold case aspect along with the family secrets made this one I couldn't wait to see untangle and I read this in one afternoon as I needed to have all my questions answered. This one is really well done and I can't wait for more Pearl River books!

I always like stories with people who are living a "secret life." Patricia Bradley brings us such a story in the second book in her series Pearl River.
Fatal Witness brings this story with Dani Collins who lives in Montana with an overprotective uncle, but she's not sure why he won't talk about her past. In Pearl River, Tennessee, potter Mae Richmond is mourning her missing granddaughter who went missing after the murder of her parents. When Mae discovers Dani is alive and they plan to meet, it becomes clear that someone doesn't want them to reunite. Patricia Bradley's fans won't be disappointed with her newest suspense. I think it is the best I have read by her.

Patricia Bradley had me hooked by the end of the first paragraph. Danielle Bennett AKA Dani Collins had a nine-year hole in her memory. A hole that included anyone she had known and loved during the first nine years of her life other than her Uncle Keith. Now circumstances were lining up to pull her into that hole, and into a killer's sights.

Once again Bradley has woven a tale of mystery and suspense with plenty of clues and misdirection. Fatal Witness is a book that won't easily be laid aside. While the story includes a touch of romance, it does not overshadow the suspense. While readers may consider the correct character in the role of villain, it is doubtful they will feel confident in that prediction until almost the very end. Bradley shows herself to be a master of the plot twist, and in doing so brings hours of reading pleasure.

Wow, just wow! This is a book I’ll be thinking about for a while yet. So much action, family ties and trained dogs to help solve a twenty five year cold case murder. So many suspects to plow through and keep me guessing right up until the last few pages.
Dani was just nine years old when she heard her parents being murdered. She was rescued and taken away by her uncle. Twenty five years later she still has amnesia about the first nine years of her life. She learns she has a grandmother she didn’t know she had in the small town where she grew up before the murders. She decides to go there to see her grandmother and that’s when she begins to be shot at from an unknown assailant. Enter deputy Mark to keep close and try to keep her safe. Numerous townspeople remember her, some friendly, some not. Trying to run one step ahead of the sniper keeps them in danger and moving to different locations.
This is a great story with lots of suspense and heart thumping moments. A must read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Traumatic events can be so overwhelming that they cause a child to block out what happened. This dissociation is very well portrayed in the book, Fatal Witness by Patricia Bradley. This memory loss affected Dani Bennett, a nine year old at the time of this terrifying experience and still affected her 25 years later. Finding out she has a grandmother, Mae living in her hometown, Pearl Springs, Tennessee. Someone back then and now is trying to kill her and the rest of her family. Who and why kept me spellbound with all it's twists and turns until the last pages of the book. I throughly enjoyed reading Fatal Witness by Patricia Bradley and now plan to go back and read Counter Attack, the first book in the Pearl River series!

If you love twisty tales with multiple suspects and a touch of romance Fatal Witness is the book for you. The action is perfectly paced and kept me on the edge of my seat. This author definitely knows how to draw the reader into her stories and had me hooked from the very first page.

Dani is an artist raised by her overprotective uncle and has no knowledge of her life before age nine. When she gets a call from an officer in a small Tennessee town she’s not sure what to think but knowing she might have a grandmother who’s searched for her all these years stirs something in her. When she arrives in Pearl Springs she may find more than she bargained for.

Mark is intrigued by Dani’s story and when he meets the woman herself he finds himself interested in a way he isn’t sure he’s ready for. His past mistakes make him keep his distance but when things heat up he has no choice but to be right by her side. Her life may depend on it.

Along with great suspense I love how the story includes previous characters Alex and Nathan as they move toward marriage. All of the characters are memorable, and the community is one I’d like to be a part of.
