One Wrong Word, a 2024 suspense novel written by Hank Phillippi Ryan, focuses on a fixer who is fired from her job because a client's wife was jealous, but on the way out, the fixer's boss offers one last new client that will provide big bucks, hopefully easing the transition. A local business magnate was supposedly driving drunk after a holiday party and killed a skater in a parking garage. His trial is the opening of the book, and regardless of the outcome, the public continues to eviscerate him. His wife begs for support. As the mystery unfolds, we discover lies, deceit, and a few missing pieces of evidence. What really happened on the night of the accident? I loved this book, as I tend to with Ryan's thrillers. It was a slow build that combusted midway through when it became apparent the driver's wife was a bit obsessed. But could she have something up her sleeve? So many interesting conversations happening, weird, to be honest... but they ultimately connect to the larger story in the end. It was well crafted, showed the flaws of human nature, and left a lot of trouble in the end. Highly recommended.

This is a slow burn thriller that will keep you guessing until the very end. I was not much interested in this story and how slow it felt. Others may like it very well though.

OHMYGOD! This is a twisty suspense thriller that you won't be able to put down! I loved every minute of it! I knew this would be good (c'mon, it's Hank Phillippi Ryan), but this book kept me guessing the entire time. I knew that I shouldn't trust anyone, but she still surprised me with the twists. You don't want to miss this one!

Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for this advance review copy. All opinions are my own.

First off, who doesn’t love @hankpryan? She’s amazing and never disappoints! Her latest (how about this cover? 😍) #OneWrongWord is out February 6th!

This is a slow burn domestic thriller full of secrets and unreliable characters whose sole purpose might actually be to mess with your head. Cordelia…man, that woman is something. 🫣 Arden is a strong character you can’t help but root for and I really enjoyed her storyline.

This one will keep you guessing as the plot unravels. Kudos to Ms. Ryan for yet another entertaining read!

Special thank you to NetGalley, Tor Publishing Group, Forge Books, and @thrillerbookloverspromotions for having me on the tour!

The Queen of suspense, Hank Phillippi Ryan, is back with a sordid tale of a Hit and Run accident that was so awful that a second Hit and Run appeared later in the book creating a surprise plot twist. Although not as powerful as recent works by this author, it wasn't lacking in drama or plot twists, two qualities this author is famous for mastering. It was interesting to see how the different characters handled no only the criminal sensationalism from journalistic coverage of the crimes, but also how social media inserted itself into the crime. I applaud the author's ability to make the handling of the story so 2024. A riveting tale that will keep you wondering.

I have read many, if not all, of Hank Phillippi Ryan’s books, but this is by far my favorite. It had me hooked from the very first page. If you like a psychological thriller that keeps you guessing until the very end, this book is for you.

One wrong word can change your life. Arden Ward, in her job in crisis management, finds out when she is falsely accused of something she didn’t do. To save her career, she is asked/told to help Cordelia Bannister. Her husband Ned has just been acquitted of killing someone in a drunk driving accident, but the lives of the Bannisters and their two children are in turmoil and they need Arden to help navigate through it.

As Arden is trying to fix Ned’s reputation and clear her name, she finds out things that may uncover what really happened that night. Who is telling the truth and who is lying? Is Ned guilty? Is she helping a killer?

ONE WRONG WORD is the fast-paced and gripping new psychological thriller by Hank Phillippi Ryan. I’ve loved all of Hank’s thrillers, but this is my new favorite. The plot is full of twists and turns that kept me guessing right up until the surprising conclusion. Arden Ward makes her living as a crisis management expert, protecting her clients from gossip, lies and innuendo that can ruin their lives. But Arden’s own life is about to come crashing down after she is wrongly accused of having an affair with a powerful client. Her boss gives her two weeks to redeem her career and reputation by helping a new client out of a dicey situation. Cordelia Bannister and her husband, Ned, desperately need Arden’s help. Ned was involved in a fatal drunk-driving accident. Even though he was acquitted in court, his reputation is in ruins and Cordelia’s life and the lives of their children are changed forever. Can Arden help the Bannisters and in so doing, save her own career? But what if Ned Bannister really is guilty? The suspense ramps up as this clever cat-and-mouse game proceeds. I was on the edge of my seat from beginning to end with this story and know it will be a winner for Hank Phillippi Ryan. Highly recommended! Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the chance to read and review an early copy.

Thank you, @thrillerbookloverspromotions, @hankpryan, and @forgereads for the gifted eARC.

When Cordelia's husband Ned was involved in a fatal drunk driving accident, their lives were irrevocably changed. Now Cordelia is turning to Arden Ward for help. Arden is a crisis management expert, and there's no crisis she can't handle. Except now, she's in one of her own. Arden has been wrongfully accused of an affair with a client and has been fired. Before Arden can leave, she has to take on Cordelia and Ned Bannister's case and help save their family's image with the two weeks she has left at her firm. When Arden begins working with Ned, someone else connected to him ends up hit by a car. Arden can't help but wonder the type of man Ned Bannister really is. Is she helping a murderer? She's not sure, but she's going to find out.

One Wrong Word is the first book that I've read by Hank Phillippi Ryan, and I really enjoyed it. This is a slow-burn book and is a psychological suspense read that will keep you going back and forth on who the "bad guy" really is until the very end. The entire story, Arden is trying to "fix" Ned's life while getting thrown all these curve balls that are meant to throw her off course. Arden's not sure who's telling the truth or what the truth really is, but she's determined to find it. Towards the end of the book, things start to really amp up, get tense, and really good. In the beginning I wasn't fully invested in this story and I almost gave up on it, but I'm glad I stuck around because I ended up really enjoying digging through the mess of the Bannister's lives with Arden.

Hank Phillippi Ryan has done it again!! This book has so many twists and turns. I literally gasped out loud at one point. Just when you think you have it figured out, something else happens to make you question what you thought you knew. It is Hank Phillippi Ryan doing what she does best--Keeping you on the edge of your seat, not being able to put the book down, devouring it page after page until the ultimate climax. You will love the character development, you will be rooting for Arden, you will trust and then distrust and then trust again the other characters. I cannot say more. I do not want to give any of it away. Grab this book and see what I mean. You will not be disappointed. Hank Phillippi Ryan is the queen of the twisty murder thriller and this book seals her spot there.

Y’all know I go into books blind. I’ll read reviews, know that you liked the book, and by the time I get to read it, I completely forget what it is about. Or I’ll see a cover I like I’ll pick it up. No surprise, this is exactly what happened with this book.

This was a twisty thriller that’s for sure. I had no clue which way was up for most of the book. Y’all know those are my favorite books in the whole world.

Cordelia’s behavior gave me freaking whip lash. *lol* Seriously, one minute, she was saying one thing about her husband, and then the next, I felt like she was saying the complete opposite. This was perfect for her character in the book, and after you get to the ending, it will make sense. There is no way I could have figured out that ending!

The book is set in Boston and towards the end when Arden introduces herself to Stamoran; Hank wrote in the book exactly how he would have pronounced her name (Ahden) since most from Boston don’t wouldn’t enunciate the “r”. It is a small detail, but to me, it was much appreciated.

Arden was freaking bad ass in the ending! I mean, she was a tough woman anyway after dealing with her POS boss. But, the way she handled the ending was

I’m grateful I had the opportunity to read this book before it was published! I recommend this one for all my thriller lovers!

After years spent building a successful career in restoring or rehabbing the lives and reputations of wealthy and famous persons who’d made a misstep, Arden Ward finds herself in need of her own skills. One negative comment from the jealous wife of a major client and she’s out on her ear. Her boss offers her one parting gift: Ned Bannister, CEO of a commercial real estate company, has been found not guilty of a hit and run fatality, but his public image is shattered. His wife is shunned by the moms at school, his children bullied at school, and former friends no longer call. He and his wife have asked for her help.
Ned is reluctant to use her services, but his wife insists. Arden finds herself plunged into a world of lies, deception, moral ambiguity, and danger. Her quest for the truth leads her to collaborate with very strange bedfellows indeed.
One Wrong Word is a thrill ride, with a plot full of twists and turns and surprises. Ms. Ryan has given readers another spectacular winner. Highly recommended.

A great plot and storytelling by a talented investigative reporter who keeps the tension tight. Who is the real villain in this story? Was Cordelia a nut job? Was Ned really hiding something? These are some of the questions that drove me through this exciting story at every twist and turn. I could envision myself dashing across Boston just as Arden did in her quest to salvage herself and her reputation. We’ve all been there at some point!

Love Suspense? One Wrong Word by Hank Phillipi Ryan is a must read. I was mesmerized by the intricate web woven between the characters, and the thin line between truth and lies. I could not put this book down. Hank brings the characters to life, I felt apart of the action. The thrilling twists and turns are not to be missed.

Lots of twists and turns and ethical issues in this slow moving story that builds and builds. hard to put down. A public relations person who helps rich people re make their images, gets involved with a couple who need their image cleaned up. It is hard to know who to trust as she wrestles with being wrongly terminated for an affair that never happened. Character driven and didn't fall back on endless action and her being victimized and taken hostage. One of her best works.
