I enjoyed Prince of Never immensely - it had many of my favorite tropes: fated mates, morally grey MMC, and enemies to lovers!
I love when two authors can cohesively create a beautiful story and a reader would be none the wiser. I also appreciated the character development that was included, as it gives the reader more compassion and emotion towards the characters.
I did have a slight difficulty with some of the writing style choices. Some parts did not flow well or I felt the flow was disrupted.
Otherwise, this was a great read!

I enjoyed this book and I’m absolutely obsessed with this cover I will 1000% be preordering it! I feel like the book was missing tiny marks for me but other than that a really solid read!

I love the vast majority of books involving fae and this book was no exception. I absolutely loved this book and I couldn’t read it fast enough, to the extent that I found myself staying up late to finish it. I simply needed to know how it ended!

Imogen is a librarian who has been told she is crazy her whole life for seeing things that no one else can see and has learnt to hide this. Until one day Tarian, the unseelie prince, who has been searching for her as a result of a prophecy that predicts the downfall of the unseelie court kidnaps her and transports her to the world of fae.

I thought the book was well written and I really enjoyed the story. The pacing was well balanced between developing the plot and the action that occurred. Whilst the book was slightly predictable, and I wasn’t massively surprised by the twists in the story, I felt that it didn’t take away from the story at all and I still really enjoyed it.

Whilst the book incorporated a lot of similarities to other fae books it still felt different with new elements added to create something unique. The concept of fated mates was introduced early on and wasn’t a big reveal at the end like in some books which was a refreshing take. I also enjoyed how the bond forms and locks into place which was a different approach.

I really liked Imogen’s character she was stubborn and feisty but also naive and I loved the way she interacted with other characters in the book. Tarian was a grump but there was also a lot of vulnerability there as well from his growing up and the weight of the prophecy.

I really enjoyed the slow burn chemistry between the Imogen and Tarian. The enemies to lovers trope is done really well and the gradual shift that occurs as a result of the bond. I loved that this is told from both characters POV to get both sides of their thoughts. I think it might have been a harder to like the book as much as I did without the dual POV.

This series isn’t complete yet so there will be a delay before we find out happens and it does end on a cliffhanger so bare that in mind. I just hope we don’t have long to wait for the sequel as I’m desperate to find out what happens!

If you enjoy fantasy romances such as ACOTAR and The Cruel Prince that have enemies to lovers, fated mates and prophecies then I think you will enjoy this book as well.

I received this book free from the authors in exchange for my honest review <3

“I’d been kidnapped, locked in a tower, lured into a bog, burned with acid plants, nearly drowned, and almost eaten alive. A little fun was probably exactly what I needed.”

Imogen has been seeing magical creatures since she was a child and even been attacked by a vampire. But no one believes her!
Tarian is trying to find the woman who is fated to be the downfall of the Unseelie Court, and he is going to kill her.

In Prince of Never we follow Imogen Summers as she suddenly gets kidnapped by the mysterious fae prince Tarian. She is working as a librarian at a university when she gets attacked and brought to a world beyond her imagination .The book follows both pov’s as Imogen is struggling to find her way home, and Tarian is trying desperately to find out what to do with her.
This book is very entertaining, it sexy and steamy, both funny and sad, and it kept my attention from start to finish.

“Be creative. There is a very long list of things I want to do to you, some of them far more wicked than sex.”

It has everything i love in a romantacy book. Morally grey mmc, spice, fated mates, enemies to lovers, so much sexual tension, and all those good things.
Imogen is such a good character, and throughout the book she struggles to find her place in the world. She starts out as a very anxious trauma survivor, and she is constantly being told that she is imagining her trauma. As the book goes on we get to see more and more of who Imogen really is and she slowly finds her own voice after a lifetime of being told she is imagining things and not fitting in. She gets confirmation that it’s not all in her head, and she learns more about why her life has been so difficult. This book hit me in the chest as a trauma survivor, and i think there are a lot of good depictions of grief and coming to terms with messed up shit as you get to understand it’s not your fault.

The mmc is a brooding grumpy fae prince, and we love him for that. He’s mysterious and sexy, and he’s trying so hard not to embrace his soft side. He’s also struggling coping with his abusive mother the Queen, who will stop at nothing to get her way. She’s manipulative and has power over him, and he’s trying desperately to gain his power back. His protective side comes out as soon as he sees his mate for the first time and he has big “touch her and you die” energy. He slowly allows himself to accept his feelings, and when he does let himself fall, he falls hard.

The book is really entertaining, with a great world and great characters. The sexual tension is great and the spice that is there is real good. The world is easy to imagine and magical with great vibes. The book is easy to read without being simple. The book ends in a cliffhanger and i will definitely be reading the next book when it comes out.

This was a really solid fantasy romance. While the lack of communication trope is always annoying (sooo many issues would have been fixed with talking), the fated mates tropes / touch her and you die are always my favorites

This was written like something I could have conjured from my fanfiction writing days between middle and high school. Woe is me. Everybody has it for me. I'm the special snowflake. I was sold by my mother to One Direction, I was kept prisoner by the brooding hero etc etc, you know where this is going.

A story that promises a strong female character that never actually shows up. A complete 180° turn of personality. Superficial characters and inexistent relationships between them - no conversation, just sexual tension (always like that with mate bonds. Sure, there's something that binds us. Is that all there is?). Poor worldbuilding, repetitive plotlines - once you read one fantasy young adult [see: ACOTAR] you've read them all.

A quick, fun romantasy! This was a great introduction to the characters and world. The writing was engaging and kept me hooked throughout the story. There were so many funny scenes (loved Imogen shocking Tarian and his staff)

Overall a great slow burn, enemies to lovers read. And that cliffhanger! Can't wait to continue this story

Read this in a day, I could not put this down! The prose is good, it's witty without being annoyingly quirky and extremely exciting. Maybe the love story is slightly rushed as in they don't spend a lot of time getting to know eachother but honestly it didn't bug me as much as that usually does which is a testament to how good this was overall.

Let's be honest, of course It's not a Tolkien level fantasy masterpiece, but it is a great reading experience and I had fun the entire way through. A really solid, fun romantasy book and I cannot wait to see how the rest of the story unfolds.

PS: I just could not take the fact that Imogen is supposed to be Australian seriously, once I made her accent British in my head, it was smooth sailing from there.

Imogen is a professor of mythology and folklore at a university in Australia, and has a history of seeing things that others say aren’t there. Twelve years ago she was attacked by a vampire outside of a club, and although she has the fang scars to prove it, nobody believes her. Now, when leaving the library one night she is nearly captured by a mysterious creature that she hits with her car as he leaves claw marks down the hood. Once again, nobody believes her. The next night she’s captured from her apartment and taken to the court of the unseelie fae and finds out that not only is she the fated mate of the prince who kidnaps her, but she’s destined to destroy the unseelie kingdom. Tarian, prince of the unseelie fae, has finally found the woman who is destined to destroy his kingdom, but finding that he is unable to kill her as initially planned, is now faced with nothing but obstacles if he wants to be with her.

Ok this book was addictive. It is not going to be classic literature like Don Quixote, but it does scratch that itch for fantasy romance with fae, magic, betrayal, curses, all the fun things. The few things I can’t get over is that we never really addressed the vampire lore, what happens with her pregnant friend (who probably is under the impression that Imogen was murdered in her home), and her poor pet fish being left alone to starve. Other than that there’s creative world building, magic (although I do wish we got more info on the magic system), and all sorts of magical creatures.

Thank you to Lorelai Johnson, Hailey Jade, and NetGalley for the opportunity to receive a copy of Prince of Never for review. If you enjoy fantasy romances with enemies to lovers, fated mates, and ominous prophecies, then this read is for you!

SUMMARY:
Imogen is a librarian who has always felt out of place, and she sometimes "sees" things that others claim aren't real. Her most recent hallucination turns out to be part of a plot to kidnap and kill her. Unseelie Prince Tarian was given a prophecy about a human who will be his downfall. After a subordinate's unsuccessful attempt to take her out, Tarian takes matters into his own hands to do what must be done. As he confronts Imogen, they make physical contact and create an unwanted bond between them.

REVIEW:
Well, I'm sitting here and waiting to be abducted from my home by a fae prince after binge reading this in less than a day. Enemies to lovers is my favorite trope, and I love seeing the feisty Imogen put the broody Prince Tarian in his place. I laughed out loud a few times when she acted out in front of the castle staff, leaving both them and the prince aghast.

The authors drop a few breadcrumbs throughout the story that get resolved, but it’s clear that there is so much more going on in this world, and we’ve only scratched the surface. I enjoyed the world-building through Imogen’s eyes and shared her frustrations with Tarian’s repeatedly curt, “you can’t go anywhere or do anything because of danger” warnings.

The romance is steamy, but prepare yourself for a slow burn. Imogen and Tarian are drawn to each other, but resistant to the ever-looming permanence of sealing their bond.

The ending is quite the cliff, and I have so many questions! I’m glad there’s a planned date for the next book, because I need to see what happens next.

☀️Imogen has spent most of her life feeling like she didn’t belong. She has seen things no one else can see and has been verbally abused by her parents. They call her crazy and have had her medicated for delusions. When she left for college she was finally able to make friends but she still felt something was missing. When a fae prince shows up in her apartment to kill her, one thing leads to another and she finds herself in the fae realm.

🍁Tarian doesn’t want to feel drawn to Imogen, he wants to finally overcome a prophecy he has been cursed with for most of his life. Unfortunately for him, a pesky mate bond is standing in his way.

This was a fun read! The world building was well done and I liked the two main leads. Imogen gets herself into a lot of avoidable trouble but Tarian is always there for her. Tarian’s mother the queen is definitely the big bad of this story so far!

🔥There is some spice in this book! I suspect there will be even more in the next. Spice level: 2🌶️

🚫This book does end on a cliffhanger so you’ve been warned! 😱 There are some big reveals and things we still don’t have answers for. I can’t wait for the next book!

If you are looking for a fun fae fantasy with enemies to lovers and touch her and die vibes, go snag this book! 🔥

Tropes: fae prince x human girl, world building, fated mates, enemies to lovers

Prince of Never is a dark romance book one in the series.

The tale of Imogen and Tarian is the tale of a captive and his prisoner, with whom he fell in love without from being her enemy without overcoming the communication gap that they had from the begining.

The books seems promising at the beginning but it kind of bugged me as how a person can be head over heels when there's a major communication gap between the couple.

I would have enjoyed the book if the author's would have provided the scenes to overcome the potential communication gap that was a major missing for me.

Imogen's life turns sinister when a vampire attack leaves her scarred, but no one believes her. Another attack and she's thrust into the fae realm. She's the key to a prophecy predicting the prince's fall.

This book is a riveting page-turner, filled with tension, politics, and a constant air of mistrust. It's hard to put down.

While the story is fantastic, I wish the prophecy had been introduced earlier to add to the intrigue. But, even without it, the narrative is captivating.

As the plot unfolds, some suspicions are confirmed, but it doesn't diminish the story's brilliance. You'll be left eagerly anticipating the next book. I highly recommend this novel if you enjoy fae realms, fated mates, cursed prophecies, and enemies-to-lovers stories. It's a well-written, edge-of-your-seat read that will leave you hungry for more. Dive into this world; you won't be disappointed!!

**ARC REVIEW**

I recommend this book for those who enjoy romance and fated mates with some enemies-to-lovers vibes.

"Destined to love him. Destined to own him. Destined to destroy him."

Imogen is a librarian who is prophesized to be Traians, the Unseelie Prince, downfall. Imogen is kidnapped by Tarian and taken to another realm, as he is trying to maintain some control of the situation. But when tensions start to fly between the two they both can't deny what is happening.
The plot of the story is like taking a deep dive and when you finally come up for a breath you are on the last page of the last chapter devastated it's over.

I enjoyed the slow burn of this story and the way the authors wrote the chemistry between the characters. It flowed with the storyline and kept me wanting more.

The Prince Of Never

I really enjoyed this book. The romance, the characters, the attitude from the main character. Overall I did enjoy reading this but there were a few things missing for me.

The writing wasn't very descriptive and I think it jumped into the storyline really fast and left nothing to the imagination.

I liked the plot twist and the cliffhanger.

There wasn't enough worldbuiling for me and there were a few repeated sentences throughout.

But overall a good read.

I really enjoyed this book even though it was a little too formula. Most of the plot line was predictable and told many times over in other stories, but I still liked it and look forward to reading the next in the series.

At first I was worried because I don’t like “bully” romance where the MMC is overly cruel to the FMC. Thankfully, it didn’t last long. Perhaps too quickly Tarian changed his mind, I prefer a lot of build up and tension and he seemed to become infatuated rather quickly. I loved the dual POV I think it just adds so much more especially with a romance aspect to a book. I loved the tension, the politics, and the witty banter. This book had lots of promise and I’m excited to see where book two goes!

If you enjoy romantasy or enemies to lovers then this book is for you.

Prince of Never, the first book in the Curse of Fate & Fae series by Lorelei Johnson and Hailey Jade, is a novel that I initially thought would underwhelm me as it went on after a strong start (especially with the interesting approach surrounding our leading lady’s mental health) due to it seemingly stuttering out due to the change of pacing and repetition grinding on me somewhat… although obviously not enough to declare it a DNF! But I was surprised by how strongly it picked up once it really found its legs though, so I highly recommend sticking to it if you find it starting to drag too if the setting interests you! In no way would I have guessed that I’d end up giving it a 5 star rating, which I based on the satisfaction I felt with the journey on the books completion and I’ll certainly be on the look out the the next in the series after it ends on a cliff hanger which left me wanting so much more yet still managed to be a satisfying conclusion to the story that’s played out so far. I’ll be checking out both of the authors other works too, absolutely!

It starts off in the ‘real’ world, where we meet our plucky yet introverted librarian and fantasy literature geek lead called Imogen. She feels plagued by the aforementioned mental health issues that she’s developed quite remarkable coping mechanisms for. I think this was dealt with in a way that didn’t trivialise mental health as a simple plot device and highlighted the issues of the care some patients within various modern day societies may potentially experience… especially the part where she tried to secure the help of the police. I do wish it was revisited a tad more towards the end of the book since I felt it humanised Imogen a lot. But yeah, it turns out that her concern and hallucinations are in fact very real (maybe?) and she finds herself whisked away to a dimension ruled by the High Fae by none other than the Prince of the Unseelie Court himself, Tarian. He wants her dead since poor Imogen finds herself at the centre of a prophecy which predicts that her link to Tarian as being the downfall of the Unseelie Court itself. Although he faces an unfortunate dilemma (well, for himself) as he discovers that he’s bonded to her, which in turn leaves him physically unable to harm her neither directly nor indirectly. As he tries to learn about the nature of the bond and if there is a way to break it, Imogen understandingly tries her best to get the hell out of there but learns of the many, many horrors that lay outside Tarian’s castle walls.

I was unaware that this was set in Australia and written by Australians going in, so that was another pleasant surprise for me! I’ve personally never read a book set down under with Fae involved so that was exciting too. I’ve been finding recent Australian fantasy novels to be very enjoyable to I just might have to seek out more!

To wrap things up, I found myself flying through the second half of the book as the plot ramped up to be strong and intriguing. Most of the characters retain their many flaws and I’m glad that they included Tarian’s POV otherwise I would have found myself absolutely loathing him and probably not able to find those shades of grey within his character if it had stuck solely to Imogen’s experiences.

Big thanks to NetGalley and the authors for providing me with an advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was such a quirky wonderful read!
As an Aussie myself, I had such a laugh at the Impulse quote. I choked, fell, and died all in that sentence. The I realised it was safe to continue (Aussie's can't take anythong seriously hahaha).

The story was fun, the world building was good and the character development was perfect.

Recommend for my paranormal & fantasy romance girlies.
