This is a great exploration about how and why America is so violent and great examples of how Americans sit and criticize other countries when we do either the exact same thing or something even worse. Starting with the Boston massacre and going all the way to current day the author gives many examples of how we answer violence with violence and even in some cases stepped it up a notch. In the beginning of the book I was leery because it having to break up one group by sub groups such as Americans which includes Europeans Asians Africans ET see I thought the book would be daunting but I was so wrong this book really shows the author did his due diligence. Whether it is state condoned violence or mob groups in the street Scott Gac whip court records newspaper accounts in modern day eyewitness details it shows a consistent trend and he even writes about how the violence historically affects us today this is just a really good book with great riding and an interesting subject matter you can’t go wrong if you love compelling nonfiction novel Lake opinion pieces then you definitely love this book I don’t wanna discredit it by calling it an opinion piece because I said I absolutely loved it and although I didn’t agree with everything the author said what he says is intelligent and well put together. I want to thank the author, the publisher and net galley for my free arc copy please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

A remarkable book that looks at the history of the USA, not all and not broadly, but focusing on violence as an important driver of US history. Scott Gac gives us a first-rate book in "Born in Blood" that can be appreciated for its quality of writing and his research. What is most important to me, however, is his perspective, looking at widely known events and giving an analysis that is both fresh and challenging. I highly recommend this book.
