She has been hired with the task of bringing down Brent. Brent has put out a drug saying it has been tested, but it hasn't. The doctor who suggests the test has been fired and blackballed. Lady Justice seeks to put bad men in their place with behind the scenes help from her best friend Daniel. She finally gets *the* assignment she’s been waiting for; the man who assaulted her sister. She is dedicated to expose him and make him pay, but starts to fall for her best friend at the same time. She can’t get distracted for the sake of the assignment, but Daniel is convinced this will be their last assignment together so she tries to accomplish both the assignment and staying close to Daniel.

This is a cross between romance and something bordering on a thriller (but note that Dylan aka “Lady Justice” isn’t seeking to kill these men, just expose them and teach them a lesson). Keep that in mind for choosing when you’d like to read this one (hello fellow mood readers!). Due to the nature of this book, there is some SA descriptions as well.

Of course it's revenge, I'd do the same thing. LOL
A fast paste, on the edge of your seat.
I was fooled several times along the way.

Dylan is out to right the wrongs of those who do bad to others. She calls herself Lady Justice and she is out to get Brent when she is called by another victim. Her sister was a victim of his and it was the start to Lady Justice. She rents the house next door to Brent and gathers information. Daniel is her best friend and he gathers information for her.
Daniel is tired of living on the edge and wants to settle down. He expresses this to Dylan and she pushes him away. She is also dealing with a reporter that know hers alias. She tries to steer him clear of telling the world who she is. She decides that he could help her with this special assignment.
Dylan wants to kill Brent and when she is given the opportunity, she thinks of Brent. She is so used to being by herself and she ends up with an amazing team of people that will help her ruin Brent.
I really enjoyed this book. I liked that it had a romantic storyline, as well as a mystery plot.

This book is more romance with a streak of vengeance than a thriller. Still a good read though.

This book was a wonderful spy novel! Dylan is a strong powerhouse of a woman, and through the course of the book she warms up enough to let us see her vulnerable side. I found it to be a tad slow paced with the hook and drive, but overall it was a delightful read even if it took me a bit to get through :) Her relations with others is where the book really shined. The romance in it was so addictively delightful to read. I was rooting for them the whole story and the epilogue was heart warming.

Okay Wow! This book was soo good and I am still in shock that this is a debut novel! I absolutely loved the writing in this book and became so invested in these characters and their story! I loved the romance almost as much as I loved the suspense! The author did such a great job at intertwining the two and I loved the spice that was involved in the story! In regards to the narrator, I absolutely loved Emma Love. She kept the listener engaged throughout the entire novel and just brought the story to life! Overall, this is definitely one that I would HIGHLY recommend in both book and audiobook format!

Such a fantastic debut novel by @katherineaolson!

This romantic suspense was packed full of revenue. As well as having a bad ass FMC. I loved her personality. A touch morally grey, some vulnerability, and also funny. She was something else! The MMC, well, what's not to love about him. He was the perfect amount of protective. The friends to lovers storyline with a tad of spice was such a great balance in this story.

If you love a good revenge story, definitely pick this one up! The audio was also so well done.

Thank you @netgalley @katherineaolson @dreamscape_media @crookedlanebooks for the opportunity to read and listen to this debut novel.

An enjoyable story with a little bit of everything. Great suspense, great tension and a satisfying amount of revenge. Narration was great and did not detract from the story.

This book wasn't what I expected, but not in a bad way at all. The description sets a little more mystery to it, but I think it's a fairly straight forward story of a woman whose life has been driven by a horrible thing that happened to her big sister. She finds the only way she can cope is by helping others find the answers and take down the people who have wronged them in their lives. And she does it so well that she has a steady clientele and her nickname is whispered among the people. But finally she's faced off with the villain of her sister (and her) story in the form of something horrible he's done to another woman and plans to do to millions if his lies about a cutting edge drug puts it out into the world.

She manages to do this while being forced to address her feelings for the partner in crime who is on his way out of the business and into settling down. The romance between them is the kind that could flourish, if only she stopped fighting herself and putting up a front that leaves her from thinking that she's better off without someone like him. But this fight she puts up is also the thing that gets her to see the truth. To see that distancing herself from not only him, but her sister is unhelpful to her and all parties deserve something more, Something happy.

The story is wrapped up nicely in a bow and we get to see a win for so many women because a man who's been allowed to get away with everything from the moment he was born is dealt with.

I'm thankful for the chance to listen to this book given to me via NetGalley.

Close Enough to Hurt was a pretty good revenge novel. I liked the idea of a mysterious, incognito woman taking on jobs to plot out revenge against a rich, overly powerful crazy person. She was invested in her latest "hit" because of her sister was also a victim of his abuse.

There was a 80/20 mix of romance to suspense/thriller. The thriller action really didn't kick in until around the last 20% of the book. The romance aspect was ok, but I just wanted more suspense/thriller. The ending was pretty good, even though it took a while to get to it.

For the Dylan to be such an expert at contract work, her current job just seemed a bit sloppy. Why would she try to put something in someone's drink where others could notice? She just moved like an amateur in my opinion.

The narration was pretty boring. I could barely get through the sections where the narrator acted out the male voices. She didn't even try to do a genuine job, she just kinda sloshed the words around which really ruined the audiobook in my opinion.

Overall, this was an ok read.

3.5 Stars

Dylan Truman is a professional contract worker who specializes in providing clients with revenge services. Her focus is generally on individuals who engage in unfaithful behavior or abuse their power to inflict harm upon others. However, when Truman is tasked with targeting CEO Brent Wilder, someone who has harmed multiple individuals, including her sister, the assignment becomes personal. She remains resolute in her pursuit of justice for her client and sister, even if it means putting her own life in danger.

If you're a fan of both romance and thriller, then this book is for you. While it does lean more towards the romantic aspect, with a lot of emphasis on the relationship between Dyan and Daniel, it still manages to deliver some good suspenseful moments. Although I was hoping for more thrills, I still found it to be an enjoyable read overall. I would recommend it to anyone who's looking for a romance novel with some thrills sprinkled in.

*** Thank you to NetGalley, Katherine A. Olson, and Dreamscape Media for graciously sending me the audiobook to review. As always, all thoughts are my own.***

Narrated by Emma Love ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
by Katherine A. Olson ⭐⭐⭐

I absolutely L O V E vigilante plots/characters so the beginning of this book had me so excited. But unfortunately this story at its core is a love story with Brent and his take down more or a side story line. In my opinion this whole Brent section was very easy, surface and disappointing. I wish more time and effort when into this part.

This is my first time trying Katherine A. Olson and while I was left disappointed with this book I would try her again.

I will be recommending this book to my follows, but I personally would not buy this book for myself or a friend.

Oh my... What a refreshing read! A dastardly villain, a steamy love story and a happily-ever-after... What's not to love?

I really enjoyed Dylan, even though here were a few times I wanted to shake her. Daniel, well, what can I say? Apart from an aside to the author (please write more books with him in them). Joanna Lindsay with the volume turned ALL the way up!

This was something different from the usual thriller, fresh, racy and it kept me hooked from the beginning. And the narrator, Emma Love, did an amazing job.

4 sparkling stars!

I was initially really drawn into this and absorbed in the story because the main character seemed fascinating and so badass. However, as the book went on, I found myself losing interest in it because it was so slow paced. I did think the ending was fairly satisfying though and love to see a man taken down for his disgusting crimes. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Ok I went into this book thinking it was going to be a suspenseful thriller and well it wasn’t. I still enjoyed it.

Dylan Truman lives a double live as a vigilante named Lady Justice. She works with her best friend and hacker Daniel Haas. She gets a referral for a doctor who has been fired for not wanting to lie about the side effects of a new drug. The one who fired her from the pharmaceutical company is the CEO Brent Wilder. As it turns out Brent sexual assaulted Dylan’s sisters years ago and got away with it while it turned her family’s life upside down!! It’s very personal for her. So she takes the case and goes under cover and moves in next door.

The rest of the book is about her relationship or could be relationship with Daniel. Now don’t get me wrong Daniel sounds sexy but I was expecting suspense. I do love the ending and how Daniel never gave up. Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape for letting me listen to this ARC in exchange for my honest review. I give this book 3.5 stars but I’ll round it up to 4.
