This is such an amazing series! This author is wonderful and so is the book.I can't wait for the next one!
Loved the concept of mother/daughter team of real estate agents. The story plot was interesting. I did keep guessing who did it. The characters are okay. Some I liked more than others. I am interested in seeing this series develop more. Thanks#Netgalley and #CarolEAyer for the eARC in exchange for a honest review. All opinions are mine.
#MortgageandMayhem #NetGalley is the first book I've read by this author.
Sierra and her mother Autumn are a real estate duo that find themselves wrapped up in a murder investigation.
While the bones of the story are well written, the smaller details need some polishing.
Autumn, in my opinion is annoying. She acts like the daughter, and not the mom, and I find it hard to take her seriously as a real estate agent.
Sierra isn't bad, but she needs to grow up a little more, and not be so involved in her mother's personal life.
The investigation was a bit messy, but let's face it, they haven't done this before.
I'm hoping the next book is a little better, as I'm looking forward to reading the next one.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of the book.
Bravo, Carol E. Ayer! Your first book of "A Mother-Daughter Realty Team Mystery" series, "Mortgage and Mayhem," actually had me saying, "No, they couldn't be the killer." When they totally were and it made sense. I totally was seriously thinking it was someone else and that even was explained out. Thank you! I have read so many cozy mysteries at this point that if someone can at least keep me guessing but I have the right suspect in mind, I generally enjoy it. This one had me completely fooled and that was refreshing.
This book is set in a gated community. Savanna and her mother/business partner are fairly new windows living together and selling houses together. When Savanna's mother has a long time friend come to them desperately want to sell her house, no questions-get it done, they go over to do just that. Inside they find a body. This spins off into several directions with lots of motives, fun locals and a couple of kitties.
I think this book is just ok. I thought the investigating was lame, they’re all over the place, running in circles. I really don’t think much of the characters, I think the only one hat felt fullly developed is Paul. I did think Paul was the killer based on how well he’s developed and how prominent he is in the book. I think this is only the 2nd time the killer turned out to be the obvious one, to everyone but our sleuths. #MortgageandMayhem #NetGalley
