It's no secret Alexis Hall is an incredibly talented writer. His ability to make the reader care for his characters (even the ornery ones) is among the best in the business. The fake amnesia trope is not one I've read before, so I appreciate this fun, fresh spin on a grumpy/sunshine, opposites attract romance. I enjoyed the banter, the top-notch witty humor, and the slow burn romance. My only complaint is that this was just a tad long. I think it could have been condensed a bit and been just perfect.

Will Watt stole the audiobook show. I have listened to two books he's narrated lately and WOWZA! What a talent!!! His ability to narrate different British accents is unreal. 5 star performance!

Thank you Dreamscape for my gifted ARC. Review will be posted to my Booksta in a couple days❤️

Classic rom com! I love Alexis hall! The humour in this book was very similar to boyfriend material which I loved! This did follow some classic tropes but I enjoyed it!

5 stars!

I absolutely loved Alexis Hall's "10 Things that Never Happened." I did not need to think twice before giving it 5 stars! It's full of heart, hilarity, pop culture references, and Hall's signature humor and banter. I am not kidding when I say I laughed out loud dozens of times while reading this novel. I adored both of the main characters, Sam and Jonathan. They are such complex, wonderful characters who balance each other perfectly, even if they don't know it yet. I had such a lovely time getting to know them both separately and together. I loved reading all of their interactions, be they catty or serious or sincere. Their romance is so, so sweet and beautiful. All of the secondary characters are fabulous, too, but Gollum the cat steals the show. There is a touch of heaviness in this story, too, but it is not heavy-handed or out of place. In fact, I found its commentary on family, friendship, and finding love absolutely delightful and super important. These flawed characters are worthy of love, even when they think they aren't. I feel like I am gushing, but I am obsessed with this book. This is one of the best audiobooks I have ever listened to. Narrator Will Watt's versatile voices and fantastic cadence made this a truly terrific listen. I can't wait to see where this series goes next. Alexis Hall hasn't disappointed me yet!

- I am obsessed with this book so much!! I really, really enjoyed it, and I did not hesitate with my five star rating!!
- While a lot of romcoms are pretty heavy on the rom and light on the com, this book manages the opposite! I have never laughed so much while reading a book, and I think the narrator helped the humor come across even more!
- I highly, highly recommend audio for this one! The MC has a Scouse accent, and hearing it read with that accent was really helpful as an American who is less familiar with regional British accents. The narrator also does an incredible job with a cast of characters who have a variety of other regional British accents, and I was impressed at how seamlessly they did conversations with multiple accents.
- The romance was so incredibly sweet! It's also incredibly full of hijinks and nonsense in the best ways.
- I was a little concerned how Hall would navigate the boss/employee dynamic and the whole lying about amnesia thing, but both were handled really well! Neither situation was minimized, and both were dealt with in a way that made sense for the characters.
- I love Gollumn so much. Every single time that cat appeared in the story, I was cackling.

I could not love this book more. Alexis Hall just does it right. These two characters are both loveable messes in their own ways. Sam has been made to travel down to London to meet with his horrid boss, Jonathan. In the midst of being fired by Jonathan, Sam trips, and somehow Jonathan believes that Sam has amnesia. Worried about any potential lawsuits, Jonathan offers to watch over Sam as he recovers from his concussion. Sam agrees in the hopes of saving his job as well as those of the employees at the branch he manages.

I laughed so hard in this book. Sam and Jonathan have a true enemies-to-lovers arc that is beautiful in its complexity and flawedness. I loved Jonathan's family in all their nuttiness and the way in which they instantly envelop Sam. Hall writes some of the best banter and dialogue I have ever read. The way they fell in love over conversation and small moments just melted my heart. Sam is honest to a fault and full of heart. Jonathan is super straight-laced and only sees in black and white. They really complement one another in the end. The cast of characters from Sam's branch brought so much delight. I loved every interaction with them. Most of all, I loved the real heart to this book. Hall manages to entertain you while giving you such depth to his stories. He makes you both laugh and cry and leaves you just joyful inside. Reading this book truly is the best experience.....especially in audio.

My goodness. Will Watt is incredible as the narrator of this book. He brings these characters to life. You feel like you are right in the room with them. Each person somehow gets their own personality shining through. I was so sad when this ended. I could listen to him narrate every book. Truly, this was one of the best audiobooks I have ever listened to.

In the end, this is a must-read. You will love the characters. You will love the message. You will love the feeling it gives you.

When Sam gets a concussion caused by his boss, Jonathan takes him into his home to take care of him, fearing a lawsuit. The whole scenario is made worse by the fact that Jonathan assumes Sam has amnesia because Sam pretends to not recognize him. Sam realizes that if he keeps pretending to have amnesia, Jonathan won't remember firing him. What could go wrong? Throw in Christmas, a huge family staying at Jonathan's house, and a (slightly Stockholm syndrome-y) love story, and you just can't go wrong!

This audiobook was so much fun! I loved the narrator and the characters were so chaotic and sweet. Although it's not my favourite Alexis Hall book, it was a nice and wholesome read, perfect for the upcoming christmas season!

The audiobook was so fun to read. I listened to it over 2 days and would have finished it earlier if I could have. I loved the narrator and his accent. The story us fun and tackled a lot of difficult things while still being somewhat lighthearted. The family and friends added so much to the universe and I really enjoyed it and highly recommend it.

*Thank you netgalley and dreamscape media for an advanced listener copy in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you Dreamscape Media for the Audio ARC! This was my first Alexis hall book. At first; this was hard for me to listen to in the car with the accents (I drive for work). Im one who usually like to follow along with the e boo which I didn’t get a copy of. So for me I couldn’t just listen along when I was driving and doing things, but could focus better when I was just at home. Overall, I did LOVE the narrators. I absolutely love an accent. The story itself was just okay for me. 3.5 stars. You will love this story if you love the following tropes: Boss/Employee, Grumpy/sunshine, Forced proximity, Family dynamics, Faked amnesia, Single POV.

Thank you again for the audio arc!!

Ten Things That Never Happened is completely wild. I love Hall’s sense of humour and the craziness of the characters. This had all the good vibes of the Boyfriend Material books, but also had its own unique tone. The grumpy x sunshine dynamic of Sam and Jonathan, who had such distinct voices and personalities, was absolutely perfect.

Grumpy characters are always my favourite. I love when sunshine characters invade their space and force them to open up. The forced proximity element really aided this and was executed in such an interesting way. I’ve never read a book with the amnesia trope before so this was a real treat. I loved the dynamic of real feelings growing amidst the amnesia fuelled lies Sam was spinning.

Ten Things That Never Happened had the ingredients of all the Christmassy romcoms I’ve grown to love. This is the perfect book to pick up if you’re wanting to dive into an achillean romcom over the Christmas period. I’d definitely recommend this if you’ve loved books like Matthew Prince, or are just a general fan of contemporary romance. I don’t think you really need to read the previous book to fall in love with Ten Things!

This was my first Alexis Hall book and it didn’t disappoint. I read this in a day because I just wanted to find out what was going to happen next. I went into it without reading the blurb and that made it so much fun. I mean who doesn’t love the fake amnesia with the overbearing boss trope.

I really loved Sam’s character. The way he cared so strongly for all the people who worked for him and would do anything to protect their jobs. He was just a big lost sweetie trying to muddle his way through life. I feel like he truly wanted what was best for everyone even if they were crap at their job or not very kind. Honestly, Jonathan was not my favorite at first. He was pretty unlikable to all those around him but he did grow on me throughout the book and I love when that happens. I love a good journey and growth in a book. I really wish we could have had dual POV because I really wanted to get inside Jonathan’s head.

I loved the narration and I think the narrator did an awesome job with all the voices! I can’t wait to jump into another Alexis Hall book ASAP!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for an advance copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.

This book is a new top tier ultimate favourite romance of mine. I absolutely loved it. I couldn't put it down! It was so much fun, but also dealt with more serious topics and so really had an emotional impact on me.

I laughed, I cried and it also had Christmas vibes, which just added to my enjoyment! I just absolutely loved both of the main characters. It was a grumpy sunshine kind of dynamic and I just loved loved loved both of them. This is probably sacrilege, but I'm pretty sure that I preferred this to Boyfriend Material, and that was mainly down to the characters.

I was kindly provided access to the audiobook by the publisher via Netgalley. The narrator just did a spectacularly brilliant job with the accents (one of the MCs was from Liverpool) and it really did enhance my enjoyment and was one of the reasons why I just completely fell in love with the characters.

I'm so sad that it's over, but I will read this over and over again because it was so perfect.

Bummed but this was not my favorite Alexis Hall book. I wasn't rooting for the couple to get together, and I didn't really like either of them and not sure either of them learned much from each other in the end.

🛁 Book Review 🛁

✔️ Amnesia (fake)
✔️ Workplace
✔️ Forced Proximity
✔️ Roommates
✔️ Found Family
✔️ Opposites Attract
✔️ Retelling (Taming of the Shrew)

Sam manages a bed and bath shop, which is owned by Jonathan - a strict, no-nonsense boss. Sam is kind of the opposite - lenient and casual and affable. Unfortunately, those qualities aren't helpful in his job so when Jonathan and Sam have a confrontation about the business, it doesn't go well. Tempers flare, Jonathan fires Sam and tells him his entire staff is fired, right before Sam has an accident and gets a concussion. Sam pretends to have amnesia in the hopes he can persuade Jonathan to change his mind but as they get to know each other, things get complicated.

It felt like a lot of movies kind of referenced here! Obviously, Ten Things I Hate About You (one of my faves). I loved the movie Overboard (the original with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell), so this was up my alley. I do love an amnesia read and this was an interesting take on the trope.

This also read kind of like a Scrooge romance where it's Ebenezer Scrooge and Bob Crachet falling in love and I highly recommend it as a holiday read.

I loved that this was about two very flawed people - some moments made it hard to feel sympathy for either one of them! However, it also reinforces the idea that we all deserve love and to be loved and there's always growth to be had when you care enough. And that's a pretty beautiful message.

Alexis is tremendously skilled at writing dialogue - the banter was off the charts good. I also loved the very tender moments between the main characters, both at home and around town. The end was especially swoony .

The audiobook added to the enjoyment of the story as Will Watt did a terrific job with all the different characters and their voices and voice mannerisms (inflections?).

4.5⭐️

10 Things That Never Happened is hilarious. I loved this story. I listened to it on audiobook, which meant taking a few walks with my dog as I was listening, and I’m pretty sure I looked like a crazy person, because so many witty lines (that deliciously dry British wit!) kept making me crack up. I’d be walking along, listening intently, and suddenly I would almost double over laughing. Anyone who didn’t see the lone earbud in my ear had to be wondering what on earth was wrong with me. Actual answer: nothing! I was just enjoying this delightful enemies to lovers tale from start to finish.

Featured tropes:
- Enemies to lovers
- Workplace romance
- Forced proximity
- Grump/ sunshine
- Fake amnesia

Will Watt narrated the audiobook delightfully well.

Thank you Alexis Hall, Dreamscape Media, and NetGalley for providing this ALC for review consideration. All opinions expressed are my own.

I confess that it took me a bit to settle into this book, but once I did, I was all in. Such a wonderful read.. It was so much more than a romance between two people. It was also a story of friendship and family as well.

Sam and Jonathan couldn't be a more unlikely pair. Sam works for Jonathan's company and their working relationship isn't very strong. So, when the opportunity presents itself after an accident occurs for Sam to pretend he has amnesia in order to protect not only his own job but also that of his team, he takes it. As you would expect, this will haunt him down the road.

While Jonathan is keeping watch over Sam to be sure he doesn't have a deadly reaction to his concussion, they learn more about one another. Neither person is who the other had believed them to be. Not just that, Jonathan's family becomes attached to Sam as well. Meanwhile, the two of them keep reminding everyone that they are only friends. Yet as time goes on, they each find that they may just want it to be something more.

These two men were both a little broken in different ways. It was heartbreaking and yet also encouraging to see them trying to fight their way through their insecurities to make a go with one another. This book definitely made me sniffle a time or two.

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW: The audio was done quite well with the accents and so forth. It was quite enjoyable all the way around. 4 stars

Thank you to NetGalley for both the ebook and audiobook. I chose to read/listen to them both and review them and the opinions contained within are my own.

Sam & Jonathan

So I'm reading the audiobook a solid 4 stars but the story itself is 3.5 for me. It was very witty and I liked the banter between Sam and Jonathan but there was something missing from the story that kept me from enjoying it completely.

One thing about Alexis Hall is that like Ali Hazelwood, they are going to write exactly the samething many times... and I am gonna be sat and eating it up everytime.

Personally I think that 10 Things that never Happened is enjoyable. A sweet slow-burn, with enemies to lovers trope. The pace of this book I think is a lot slower that their other books! We watch our characters become more comfortable with eachother, and reveal more and more about themselves with eachtother. They then grow from dislike to friendship, then to respect, and then attraction. It was a lovely little journey.

I think this outside of boyfriend material is my fave by Alexis Hall. A good easy 4/5 stars!

Did Alexis Hall write a holiday romance?!?!

You bet!! And it’s bleeding fantastic!!! Literally holiday romcom gold!!!

In 10 Things That Never Happened Hall brings us back to their Material World with an all new couple and friend group!

Sam Becker is living his life managing a retail bed and bath store when an unexpected summons from his boss, Jonathan Forest finds him stuck in London, faking amnesia and living in his hated boss’s home under his care - all in order to save his job, and that of his employees!

I love a good fake amnesia plot, and this one was absolutely hilarious! Alex’s hall is a master of romance and knows that enemies to lovers makes the best fake amnesia falling in love with your boss scenario! Full of laughs, and their characteristic, heartwarming and loveable characters this book taking place around the holidays can easily become one of those books you reread every year!

Oh- and did I mention that Sam’s boss, Jonathan is also a Grinch?!?!!! Nothing brings a couple together, then a forest, family, holiday, and planning the company Christmas party together!

I had the opportunity to listen to you, the audio performed by Will Watt and found myself captured by his portrayal of both easy-going Sam and her up tight Jonathan, not to mention the delightful variation used for all the other side, characters of the family and friends. This is a very submersive audio, which created an enjoyable, listening experience that I did not want to leave.

Overall, I couldn’t have been happier with this return to Hall’s Material World! This brought back the fun and levity of boyfriend material and has me anxious to see what pops up next in the Material World!

Thanks to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the alc. Opinions are my own.
