This is the book that introduced me to LJ Shen & I am a fan. I had to go back and read the rest of the series. Good girl turned bad is now my jam. 4 stars.
This romance novel is a beautifully crafted tale that explores the complexities of love and relationships. The characters are well-developed, each with their own struggles and growth arcs, making them relatable and endearing. The chemistry between the protagonists is palpable, filled with moments of tension, humor, and tenderness that keep readers engaged.
LJ shen can be a hit or miss but this book was really good! I loved the push and pull and their love story was great.
This was such a great addition to the series!! From start to finish I was hooked! I would highly recommend starting with the first in the series but be prepared to not put them down!
This book was so amazing! I absolutely LOVED it! This book had all the feels! I loved the heroine. She was so strong and a perfect match to our hero! It was such a well written book! I can’t wait to read what’s next! Highly recommend this and the entire series!!
Wow, what a story! Ever since Broken Knight I was so interested in hearing about Vaughn’s story and what was behind this mysterious character. This story went in a direction that I was not expecting, but Shen did not disappoint!
This DARK enemies to lovers romance left such an impression on me that I will never forget Vaughn and Lenora’s story (it’s been a few weeks since I’ve read it and I still think about it). Vaughn is such a unique and complex character and his story broke my heart. Everything about it. Piece by piece it was put back together the closer him and Lenora became. The history these two shared was entwined together so perfectly and the evolution of their relationship was amazing. Lenora is exactly what Vaughn needs. The perfect match to his dark and broken. They have many similarities and their relationship was everything I hoped it would be. Vaughn’s vulnerability and the unexpected way he opened up to Lenora made me love his character even more.
I also love how all three books in this series bring in some of the parents that were in Sinners of Saint in for a couple of chapters that are from their points of view. It was only a small glimpse, but it added something extra to these books that I loved.
I love LJ Shen. I've never disliked a book by her. Until Angry God. I can't even.... The characters were all so hatable. Especially, the lead male. And why are they in high school? Where are the college kids? Why are there kids starring in s3x books? Like what??
I guess I never read a bully romance until now, but I’m hooked! Angry God had all the emotions, and I loved Vaughn and Lenny’s story. It was enemies to lovers and what a tortured and broken soul Vaughn was.
*many thanks to Sourcebooks/Bloom and Netgalley for the gifted copy for review.
Angry God was a roller coaster of emotions. This was my first time diving into any of LJ Shen's works and I was thoroughly engrossed into the story line even though there were moments that broke me down only to build me back up by the end.
Vaughn... I love a damaged hero and he fit the bill perfectly. I found a lot of depth within Vaughn & Lenny's character ARCs, which was a pleasant surprise. This book had me reeling, gasping, crying, hoping, and sweating during the steamy scenes. Now that I've discovered LJ Shen I can see myself diving into lots more of their work.
Bully romance,
Damaged Hero,
Dark, not for the faint of heart so be sure to check up on triggers, I didn't see a trigger warnings list but I do think one should be added.
Academic Rivals & Childhood connections.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys bully romances, dark academia type settings, and angsty MMC's.

Thank you so much for the complimentary copy of this book in exchange for a review, in no way did the complimentary copy have an affect on how I determined my review.
Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher, and author for the copy of this eARC in exchange for an honest review.
I've said this once, and I will say it again - LJ Shen is the queen of bully romances. I have adored each one of her books, and this one is no exception. Vaughn is probably one of my favorite MMCs by Shen thus far - he is jaded, but she is his kryptonite. Check your trigger warnings.
I really thought I was not gonna like this book since it started out darker than anything I’ve read before. But I loved it. I loved Vaughn and how unbelievable broken both he and Lenora were. The insight into his past and why he was the way he was broke my heart and I almost couldn’t read it. But overall great book
I tried so hard to stay engaged in this story but unfortunately had to tap out at 50%. I found it to be pretty boring. I don’t feel any connection to the characters or any chemistry between them. The dialogue and overall plot was a bit silly at times too. I’ve read other books by this author but I don’t think this one is for me.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bloom Books for the advanced copy!
I’m not sure how I feel about this one still. I liked it while I was reading it but I found it very forgettable. I did really like the characters and the story line.
I actually think this book is pretty good. not great, not spectacular, but very solid. I think what worked for me here is the whole damaged hero thing. I am a sucker for a guy with a past, and usually that can excuse behavior. but i don’t think Vaughn was particularly horrible by comparison. in fact, the things he does to make up for his treatment of Lenora actually were kinda sweet. I mean let’s not act like we didn’t know what we were in for.
It’s hard to express how fantastic Angry God was, but I’m going to try. L.J. Shen knows how to write a dark, new adult romance. Although this is not the first book in the All Saints High Series, it was the first book I read in the series and it did not disappoint. My emotions were all over the place while I read Vaughn and Lenny’s story. At times I had to put the book down as I tried to grasp what I was reading. Their story is that good!!!
Angry God is definitely a darker read than most new adult books. Vaughn and Lenny were true enemies to lovers, and I feel like a lot of what happened in their youth was tragic, sad, and could have been avoided. My heart broke for these beautifully flawed young adults. I wanted to dive in to the pages and mend their broken hearts. They were both damaged, their minds dark and twisty, but they were perfect for each other and needed each other to grow and heal. Just when you think their story is over, LJ Shen gives us a perfectly wrapped epilogue. A true masterpiece from start to finish.
I can’t say much more without spoiling the story, but if you’re looking for your next 5 star read THIS IS IT! You will devour this story and leave with a nasty book hangover. I cannot wait to read the rest of the books in this series.
Angry God. Wow. This author does angst like nobody's business, so buckle up! This is a bully romance with touch her and perish vibes. Vaughn has some deep-rooted issues that desperately need to be addressed. Lenora is a driven young woman, and the two wind up competing for the same internship. Their worlds collide and smash to pieces before being reconfigured and melded back together. This was definitely an emotional rollercoaster for me. And just wait until the revenge scene! So well done!
