I'm always looking for non-fiction books that are entertaining such as the who would win series. This is so fun and will definitely be popular with the younger crowd!

This is such a fun way to teach young children about the creatures in this world. The photos used as the illustrations set the scene for the guessing games butt or face. Perfect book for a children's story time as the kids really get into trying to figure it out. And what child doesn't enjoy talking about butts

Thank you to the author, Sourcebooks Explore and NetGalley, for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. My apologies for the delay in posting this review, I had a bit too much going on.

Volume 1 of this series was a big hit with the kids I read with, so we were excited to get a look at Volume 2 - and it did not disappoint. Yes, it's more of the same, but it's so well done, with guessing "butt or face" and then finding out more about the animal behind the initial photo. Several of the animals sent us down a rabbit hole, which I see as a good thing to learn more about the world around us. Highly recommend!

This is such a fun nonfiction series. I’m glad they made a sequel and I look forward to book 3. One of the things I like most about these books is that it chooses animals that are not seen frequently. My biggest complaint, and this may be because I’m reading a digital galley, the guess page and the answer page are side buy side. I hope it’s not that way when it goes to print. Otherwise, I love these books.

I am always looking for creative ways to get my littles excited about nonfiction. This book is a youth librarian’s dream because it uses the goofy game of guessing whether one is looking at an animal butt or an animal face to get kids invested in the accompanying animal facts. This charming little book is definitely geared towards kids ages 4-7 who will find the animal booties hilarious while also being old enough to start engaging with the information. The interactive nature of the story makes it a perfect book for an animal themed storytime/program.

I will definitely be suggesting this title to be purchased for our library. It's never easy to find a nonfiction read-aloud that will entertain kids, but Kari Lavelle has managed to do just that!

After reading the first Butt or Face? book, the kids wanted more, and I just happened to have Butt or Face? #2: Revenge of the Butts. This book followed the same format as the first, with 13 closeups of either a butt or a face of an animal and we had to guess which it was. The answer given on the next page along with some basic information and interesting facts. This time, there were a few familiar animals, and I think my grandchildren liked that they recognized a few of them. Many of the animals were weird looking to the kids and they examined the illustrations and kept turning the page back to look again and find which part of the animal the close up had been from. The animals come from all over the world and from different species. The end of the book has a map showing where the featured animals are found, as well as a chart telling where they rest their butts (location) and what goes in their faces (what they eat). We had fun with this one and I definitely recommend it for public libraries, schools and classrooms. As a retired teacher and teacher/librarian, I know how much little boys like books with "Butt" in the title and I think these would be fun books for those reluctant readers in a class.

This book was W-A-Y tougher than the first go-round! Here you'll meet some of the strangest creatures on the planet while you try to guess their comings from their goings. From the warty frogfish to the saiga antelope, you'll be amazed at the astounding variety of life on planet Earth.
Kids are gonna be giggling and learning all over the place!

Thanks to Netgalley and Sourcebooks Kids for the ARC of this!

My kids are obsessed with this series, as soon as they saw there was a second volume they were begging to read it. A good look at animal adaptations with a very funny premise for the potty humor loving crowd. This was fun for both my 7 and 10 year old.

This book is the hilarious and informative sequel to Butt or Face. This is the perfect book for kids of all ages. They'll have so much fun trying to decide whether each photograph is the front or back end of an animal. After guessing, they get to read so many fun and interesting facts about each animal and their adaptations. I highly recommend for all kids!

I can hear the belly laughs from my class while reading this book! The book can be read two ways, making it applicable to more ages. I would read it to younger kids as a yes or no answer and looking at the pictures. For older kids there are great facts about the butt or face. I also love the wonderful text features at the back- a map showing where you’ll find each animal and what they eat.

I will definitely be adding this to our school library. Our students enjoyed the first Butt or Face and I know the second book will be a hit. I like how it draws kids in with the funny pictures and then has several teachable moments.

If there was ever a book to engage with the littles in your life, this book is the solution! It was so fun to be "wrong" with a child in regard to where an animal body part was a "butt or face". I read this with my child and after a couple of pages she wanted to read by herself and asked for the next one in the series. I love this book.

***I received a free ARC of this e-book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.***

A great follow-up to the first in the series. Kids love butts so this is truly a great way to hook them and get them learning about different animals in a fun she very funny way. Kids will love this!

Kari Lavelle has done it again! With her ingenious idea of creating a nonfiction read aloud that has readers guess if the image they are seeing is an animals butt or face—students will be engaged to learning fun facts about animals while laughing their butts off! Highly recommend for those who love facts and love to laugh! The book has one page with an imagine for guessing—butt or face—then the following page gives an explanation of the animal and what we are seeing. It gives information about many animals I haven’t heard of or know very little abour. Such a creative idea that will grab any readers’ attention.

This is the perfect book for any animal loving kid. The premise of figuring out if it’s a funny BUTT, or a face makes kids giggle incessantly, keeping them engaged, but then you stay for the fun animal facts. I really enjoyed the map at the back that shows where all of the animals live! I could see my kids picking this book up frequently.

A lighthearted look at different types of animals around the globe. Readers are challenged to decide if the small picture they see is the animal's face or butt. After making their guesses, they turn the page and see the entire animal along with the answer. Lavelle also includes short text boxes with further information. Terrific addition to elementary libraries and a great read aloud for classes.

My kids and I loved this book. My sons are 8 and 4, and they both were giggling so much through the entire book. The 8 year old really enjoyed all of the additional fun facts about each animal, while my 4 year old continued to play "Butt or Face?" by himself for an additional two reads of the book.
