Meet Me At Christmas is thoughtfully written and combines the beauty and joy of Christmas with a story of reconciliation and self discovery.
Meet Me at Christmas is a joyous novel about a second-chance relationship between Stella and her ex, Henry. After losing her father, Stella returns from Europe to the small town she used to call home, where her work allows her to continue writing her academic articles on the brain and memory. While working, Stella finds that the only participant who signed off on her studying them was her ex, Henry, who is acting strange, like he has no clue who she is.
I enjoyed this book; I thought Stella and Henry's relationship developed organically, considering their situation. The miscommunication trope usually annoys me due to the nature of the lack of communication. Still, I felt the author justified the reasons in this book well, even if I probably would've done something different.
This book touches on tough subjects like infertility, the death of a loved one, and TBIs. I thought the author did a great job incorporating these touchy subjects in a cohesive and well-thought-out way.
Meet Me at Christmas by Jenny Hale
Narrated by Emma Love
This book was extremely problematic for more than one reason. First, Stella left Henry and never told him why. I get they were teens and her reasoning was immature but it was really ridiculous. Then when she comes back around age thirty, she keeps the truth of their past from him. Top that off by the inappropriate and truly unethical way she handles her professional relationship with him and I just could not believe it. The whole thing was disappointing and I had to DNF at 60%. Just couldn’t take any more.
The narrator was very good but it still did not make the book tolerable.
I listened to the audio version of this delightful Christmas romance narrated by Emma Love. It was very well done, which made it a pleasure to listen to.
This was a second chance for Stella and Henry. They loved each other when they were very young and then circumstances tore them apart. Now Stella is back in town, but Henry doesn't act like himself when they run into each other. Is he still angry or is there something else going on?
I loved the way the characters worked their way back together slowly. The rekindling wasn't a bonfire and was sweeter because of it. This book was a pleasure to read and a great way to ease into the holidays.
Thanks to Dreamscape Select, Harpeth Road Press and NetGalley for the gifted copy of this audiobook. All thoughts are my own.
This is a book set at Christmas mostly focused on a family dealing with grief, some long buried secrets, and the mystery of a found heirloom. There are some Christmas feels but it's secondary to the story.
Stella just annoyed me for most of the book. I had issues with her ethics dealing with a conflict of interest with a patient. I found her pretty selfish and not very empathetic to her mother who was dealing with her first Christmas without her husband. I also roll my eyes at the promotion awarded at Christmas which will require immediate travel on December 26 trope.
The narrator is very good. She also narrated The Magic of Sea Glass that I listened to earlier in the year. Her male voices do tend to sound similar but in this book there are only two main male characters to keep track of.
Thank you to Dreamscape Select and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy of this audiobook.
I went to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the audio version.
Now this is a cute Christmas story. This is wholesome and doesn't have bad language or severe sexual content. If you are looking for an easy to read Hallmark type story plot you will like this one. It is a little different from other Christmas romance novels but it was enjoyable. I liked the narrator's voice.
A beautiful sweet Christmas story! Stella has so much she is dealing with and I was able to really connect with her.
Very much a Hallmark Movie and I was here for it!!
It's the combination of a love story, the holiday season and that Christmas Magic that just gives me all the feels. Throw in the fact that it was also a military romance, with recently returned veteran Henry and I was hooked!! Stella and Henry were young lovers, then grew apart but had their second chance when they meet up again by chance in their hometown. Stella never expected to see Henry again, but when she does, she certainly didn't expect them to have a clean slate. The Christmas magic was the icing on the cake, it was so sweet and inspiring. Really wonderful story!!
Wow, what a sweet Christmas story and the narration was easy to listen to. The story follows a former couple as they rediscover each other and come to terms with their history which tore them apart many years ago after their worlds collide again. I felt the story itself moving even without the romance aspect, however that too was an added bonus. It was easy to get lost in their stories and the world. The Christmas theme was present but not too over the top. I wanted the characters to work out their history both individually and together.
I would recommend this audiobook (or book) for anyone looking for a Christmas-y romance with a backbone to it.
I recently was sent an Audiobook copy of this book in exchange for this review on Netgalley. All thoughts are my own. I listened on 1.5 speed.
I love everything about this book. It made me laugh, cry, and stay up until 5:00 a.m. The story was perfect for the upcoming Christmas season.
Stella and Henry dated all through high school and eloped whensent home she graduated. Everything was fine for a couple months until the day she comes home and tells him she wants the marriage annulled and then leaves for college the next day. Thirteen years later she is working for a research magazine. She goes home for the first Christmas since her dad died and finds that Henry has been badly injured in the military and has no short term memory. In other words, he has no idea who she is and about their path.
The main story is the book is the story of them working together to het his memory back. It is poignant, sad, happy, and memorable. I completely recommend it.

Meet Me at Christmas by Jenny Hale
Holiday contemporary romance. Second chance troupe.
Stella returns home for Christmas to help her mother get through their first year without Stella’s father. But Henry is also in Leiper’s Fork, TN and Stella isn’t ready to face the man she had planned to spend her life with before it all went wrong.
🎧 I listened to an audiobook version of this book narrated by Emma Love. The performance is fantastic with distinctive voices for Stella and Henry, so much so that I double checked there wasn’t a second narrator. Emotions are clearly heard from happiness, to fear, and anxiety. I listened to the audio at a speed of 1.5 for the best conversational comfort.
I grow inpatient when situations are repeated and I wanted to yell at Stella. First because the lack of communication makes everything worse and second, she is hurting more than herself.
It’s emotionally heartbreaking and ultimately heartwarming as Stella and Henry work through their history and remembering. Henry is so charming and clearly in love, I wanted the best for him.
A beautiful holiday romance.
I received a copy of this from NetGalley and from Dreamscape Select.
Good book. Choose audio however would have preferred to read it, not my favourite but did give a lovely Christmas feel.
Jenny Hale does it again with Meet Me at Christmas. Heartwarming book with mystery, love, loss and 2nd chances. A fun quick listen or read.
Stella returns to the small town where she grew up. Henry comes home from the military where he has a brain injury and can’t remember 13 years of his life. What happens between the 2 of them? Not going to spoil that surprise for you!
Emma Lover is the narrator on this one and was fantastic! Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced copy for my honest review.
Jenny Hale knows how to do Christmas!
This was the coziest, most heartwarming small town holiday romance. Think Hallmark but with more depth and emotion! It dives into some pretty heavy topics but it’s so well written that it doesn’t leave you feeling heavy or hopeless. Just the opposite ... it will inspire you!
And of course there are all the holiday ingredients that make this festive and fun … big city girl returns home for the holidays, stranded in a snowstorm, a mysterious Christmas diamond necklace, baking & eating lots of Christmas cookies, planning a holiday parade, finding Santa, being a good neighbor, new friendships, second chance love and romantic meet-ups at the town’s Christmas tree lot. Oh and all your childhood dreams finally coming true! All the smiles!!
I listened to this one on audiobook and I really enjoyed the narrator … such a sweet southern lilt to her voice and her character representation was wonderful! She’s the perfect addition to the charm of this story!
Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Select, Harpeth Road Press and the author for a copy of this audio book to enjoy and review!
Calling all lovers of christmas, Romcoms, and second chance romances, this one's for you.
Meet me at Christmas is a fun and very different take on the second chance romance trope. I thoroughly enjoyed every second of this book.
Jenny Hale takes emotional topics and adds them to her stories in a way that feels realistic and intrinsic to understanding the characters. Those emotional topics just make the happily ever after feel even more special.
Normally, I can pinpoint something tiny to criticise even in a book I give 5 stars, but I honestly don't think this could be anymore perfect.
I received this ARC in audiobook format, and the narrator was spectacular. Her accent fit perfectly with the character and the setting.
Jenny Hale's MEET ME AT CHRISTMAS is a charming novel with a perfect mix of mystery, family, romance, new beginnings, and a heartwarming holiday read to get you in the festive Christmas spirit.
Thirty-one-year-old Stella Fisher resides in London as a researcher and travel writer. She grew up in a small town in Tennessee and married Henry as a young teen. Things happened, and she left and went off to college.
She returns to her family's farmhouse in Leiper's Fork, TN, to be with her mother and help her get through the first Christmas without her father.
At the novel's beginning, there is an accident at the Atlanta airport when some woman bumps into her and spills coffee. She finds a sapphire diamond necklace on the floor. No one seems to know where it came from. So she took it with her and will keep calling the airport to return it to its rightful owner.
However, no one claims it, and she decides to have it appraised, and it will take a while. She and her mother wonder if it is genuine and its history. Stella misses her dad and loves conversing with him to help guide her.
In the meantime, she has a research project at Vanderbilt while in Tennessee and runs into Henry (her ex-husband). However, after their breakup, he was in the service and developed amnesia. So he does not know her. She does not want to hinder his therapy and does not tell him.
However, through their sessions and time together, he feels he knows her, and part of his memories start returning when he is around her. Will she be the one to help him?
While at home, everyone is preparing for the holiday season, the Christmas parade, and they find a lonely man and invite him to spend Christmas with them. He turns out to be their Santa. I also loved the "Meet Me At Christmas," a special place where people gather for music, food, and festivities with all things Christmas.
As the story develops, Henry and Stella finally communicate about everything that happened and why, and each day, they fall back in love. Her sister returns home, and the surprising history of the necklace is solved.
MEET ME AT CHRISTMAS is a sweet, delightful story of second chances and new beginnings, perfect for the holiday. While I seldom read contemporary, romance, or women's fiction, I was drawn in by the stunning front cover as a sucker for holiday stories.
My first book by the author. For fans of Debbie Macomber, Viola Shipman, and Mary Kay Andrews.
AUDIOBOOK: I listened to the audiobook narrated by Emma Love for an enchanting and engaging listening experience.
Thanks to Dreamscape Select, Harpeth Road Press, and NetGalley for an ALC for an honest opinion.

What a heart-warming, sweet, Christmas romance novel!
Just loved this one! You can feel the love thru the airwaves!!
Stella is a young woman with a past... One that she'd rather forget about and never bring up again. But it all comes rushing back to her when she returns home to her small town in Tennessee for Christmas, following her Father's death. She does not want her Mom to be alone.
She decides to work thru the visit and is able to line something up thru her work, but when she gets there and needs to meet her patient, it is the one person she was hoping she wouldn't have to see again.
Add to this, on her first night back there is a big snow/ice storm and she ventures out with Mom to get some supplies...and her car goes off the road and they need to be rescued...
And then, she is unable to reach her sister...only to find out that she has run away and gotten married.
This one will make you think about what is truly special come the holiday season. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll feel good!
And the sweet nothings that go on between Dad and his daughters...well, just so special!
Very sweet! Beautiful story. Nice character development.
4 stars for me!
Thanks to #NetGalley, #DreamscapeSelect and #HarpethRoadPress for an ARC of the audiobook.
#MeetMeAtChristmas by #JennyHale. Narrated by #EmmaLove, who also did a wonderful job!
Look for it on shelves October 17th!
I am never disappointed when I read a Jenny Hale book. I so needed this book in my life right now. I am in the mood for some Christmas reads, and Jenny Hale is always at the top of my list to pick up for the Christmas season. This story gave me that magical Christmas feel straight away. You just feel that strong family bond with Stella and her family. When Stella returns home to be with her Mom after her Dad passes away she gets more than she bargained for when she signs up to do a article on her hands ex Henry. Henry has been through a traumatic experience and he's different than she remembers. There are a few themes explored that are a little less light and fluffy, but that didn't take away from the beautiful story or the wonderful Christmasy feeling you will get while reading this.
The audio was great. I love when a narrator's voice just kind of fits with our main character and this one surly did. the audiobook of this absolutely flew by and kept me engaged and entertained throughout the whole thing.
This had a lot more emotional depth and nuances that I anticipated in a festive romance. It covers a number of difficult subjects in a sensitive way and is ultimately an uplifting and inspiring story. The main theme of Stella and Henry’s past relationship is miscommunication. When he is injured and loses his memory, they are unexpectedly given the gift of a fresh start. Stella is tormented by the need the keep things from Henry, to help me recover and there is a lot he doesn’t know. The way these two find their way back to each other is wonderfully romantic. I loved the cosy, small town setting setting and the way the author skillfully navigated what could have been quite depressing themes to create a hopeful and magical Christmas tale.
Not your average Hallmark Christmas tale, but a good read, nonetheless. This is a book about love and Christmas and family, but Jenny Hale also weaves in some pretty heavy topics - Tramautic Brain Injury, memory loss, recent loss of a loved one, to name a few. if you are a reader that is looking for light and fluffy, someone who doesn’’t want the heavy stuff, it might not be for you. I, however, felt it added to the story; who isn’t dealing with their own baggage, regrets, family turmoil, etc? This is a story where the characters are hurting, and struggling to overcome hard things - but they are finding their own ways of moving forward and determined to make the most of the Christmas holiday and their time together.
The narrator does a great job of bringing the story to life, and animating the characters.
I received this audiobook through NetGalley, all opinions are my own.
