Meet Me at Christmas is another wonderful book by Jenny Hale. If you like cozy, heart-warming stories set in a small town then you will love this book! The loss of a loved one and the loss of a first love bring Stella full circle with Henry and her family. Small towns, second chances and a Christmas Tree lot make this the perfect winter read. Emma Love narrated this audiobook and is perfect for this story.

(Spoiler alert) For those that have lost a loved one, specifically a father, the story between Stella and Pop will touch your heart. "I'm here with you always"

I really tried to get i to this book. The author writes with vivid description so I felt like I inside the scene while listening to this audiobook. Unfortunately, the story line was so boring for me.
A woman who suddenly divorces her husband whom she had a good relationship and leaves without explanation to get a degree at Stanford. Then she returns years later and he has TBI and doesn’t remember her and she is able to sit in on personal medical sessions for a paper she is writing? Ummmm that doesn’t make sense at all!
And his sister acts normal and doesn’t have any issue with her and what she is doing? What is the point of this book. After 8 chapters I couldn’t go on. So disappointed with this book.

I love the narrator! Also, talk about the next Hallmark story. This book has all the warm fuzzies. It deals with grief of the loss of a family member and a good small-town romance thrown in the mix.

This is such an inspirational story of second chances. A beautifully crafted love story. A story that emphasizes true love never dies. Emma Love dies an excellent job as narrator. Jenny Hale is an excellent author. She creates wonderful characters. I know that any book of hers will be exceptional. This one did not let me down. "Sigh" I am still thinking about it.

I was excited by this book because I enjoy hallmark-style stories: the girl with a big job returns to a small town for Christmas and reunites with her high school love. But I could not forgive that the main issue has such an easy and obvious solution.

As we can expect returning to the childhood village will bring back a lot of memories and not all of them are happy ones. This time Stella is ready to face the situation and deal with her past.

The narration by Emma Love was clear, emotional, and fitted perfectly into this story!

Meet Me at Christmas

This is a small town holiday story with so many heartfelt moments. I’ve never read anything by Jenny Hale but definitely will again.

Stella living in London gets a call from her mom and decides to go home for the holidays. This is the first Christmas without her dad and she regrets not spending more time at home with her parents and sister.

Once home she runs into her ex Henry and for some reason he is acting strange. Not wanting to spoil it too much I will leave it at that.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Select, Harpeth Road Press for this early audio arc.

This book is the perfect holiday book that will pull at your heartstrings.

When Stella gets a call from her mother asking to come for the holidays, Stella leaves her home in London to come to Leiper's Fork, Tennessee. Stella never thought she would run into Henry, the man she left twelve years ago, but when she runs into him during her assignment at Vanderbilt Hospital, she soon finds there is more to his return home. As Stella and Henry spend more time together, Stella might have a second chance to fix the mistakes of her past. Will she be able to return to her old life in Leiper's Fork?

I loved this book and ended up listening to it every chance I got. I was captivated by the chemistry between Stella and Henry and was rooting for them from the very beginning. I liked that their relationship wasn't the only point of this book. Stella is dealing with the loss of her father and helping her mother through the holidays and planning the Christmas parade. There is also the mystery of the Christmas diamond. Throughout the book, the history of the diamond is reveled. Is it truly cursed? All of these events, make this the perfect book for the holidays.

Meet Me at Christmas comes out October 17th!

Stella and Henry have a long past together, but Henry doesn't remember Stella and why she ran away from him due to a brain injury. This is a sweet story with a lovely ending.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this audio book ARC opportunity!

If you are looking for a book that is beyond Hallmark expectations, with a lot of depth, this is the one. Unfortunately for me I went into this novel with the belief it will have more of a Hallmark feel, and the depth of the difficult subjects (parent death, miscarriage, trauma, and memory loss) was difficult for me to follow and get into as I wasn’t prepared. I appreciate that the author went deeper with her novel and I believe many would appreciate this. Unfortunately it wasn’t my cup of tea. I feel the narrator did a good job, and with her slight southern accent it helped to place her in the story.

I will try other books by this author.

Stella has returned to her families farm in rural Tennessee. It’s her mothers first Christmas without Stella’s father and her little sister has eloped without telling anyone, so tensions and tempers are running high. Compounding the whole mass is the appearance of the man Stella left behind, Henry. Henry doesn’t want anything to do with Stella, she hurt him too deeply. Stella is surprised by how much that hurts her and she sets out to try to mend fences with Henry, her mother and her sister. Heartwarming Christmas tale

Jenny Hale's Meet Me at Christmas is a delightful and heartwarming tale that captures the essence of small-town Christmas cheer. This cozy book encompasses various themes, including small-town charm, amnesia, second-chance romance, the struggles of a veteran/post-military wife, miscommunication and secrets, miscarriage, infertility, the loss of a parent, and spirituality.

The story revolves around Stella Fisher, who returns to her family's farmhouse in Leiper's Fork, Tennessee, to spend the first Christmas after her father's passing with her mother. Unexpectedly, she crosses paths with Henry Dutton, her ex-husband whom she left after a heartbreaking miscarriage. Henry, unaware of the reasons behind their separation or the fact that Stella was pregnant, harbors no anger towards her. This is because he enlisted in the military to distract himself from the pain of their breakup and, as a result, suffered from amnesia. Stella becomes the key to unlocking his memories and helping him rediscover his true identity.

Jenny Hale skillfully incorporates the miscommunication trope into the narrative, a feat that is often challenging to execute. Typically, I find it difficult to root for couples in stories where miscommunication or lack of communication is the primary obstacle keeping them apart. I often doubt their ability to sustain a long-term happily ever after beyond the temporary resolution on the pages. However, in this case, the couple's young age at the time of their initial miscommunication and the profound trauma they experienced (miscarriage and the fear that Stella's infertility would hinder Henry's desired life) made me genuinely invested in their journey.

Meet Me at Christmas is a charming and uplifting story that celebrates second chances and the triumph over adversity. It is the perfect read to embrace the holiday spirit and spread hope during the festive season.

Meet Me at Christmas is an absolutely heartwarming small town romance that deals with love, loss and second chances. It also has a bit of Christmas magic. I really hope this is made into a Hallmark movie, it has many of the moments we expect in a Christmas movie, cookie baking, Christmas tree shopping, organising and organising a Christmas parade.
Thank you to Netgalley for the advanced listener copy. The narrator Emma Love is a wonderful narrator, and has a nice southern accent.

The version I am reviewing is the Christmas audiobook which was a delight to listen to throughout my day.

The author covers so many topics in this one book with the ability to make it one you do not want to stop listening to and gets you in the holiday mood.

She covers second chances, grief, miscarriage, infertility, traumatic head injury, family reuniting, mystery of a necklace, and love all wrapped up at Christmastime.

Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Select for the copy of this. The opinions expressed are my own.

My first book by Jenny Hale; where have I been, it looks like Jenny Hale has published about 2 dozen books.

I reviewed the audiobook, Emma Love did an amazing job with narration. So many different voices for the different characters. Nicely done!

Stella is a writer who specializes in writing around therapy. She travels quite a bit, not ready to put down roots. In the last year her father passed away. Her mother urges her to come home for Christmas; she is in need of assistance in continuing the tradition of planning the Christmas parade her father used to plan.

Once home Stella runs into her ex; now suffering from an accident and memory loss.

This book niggles at me; Stella really has some issues.

Thank you to NetGalley, especially for introducing me to a "new to me author". Thank you to NetGalley and Greamscape Select for the opportunity to listen to the advance listen version of Meet Me at Christmas in exchange for an honest review.

A sweet second chance, yes you can go home again, forgiveness matters sweet story. Stella is a researcher and travel writer who literally ran away from home and her life years ago. When she returns home everything is so different and all she wants is familiarity. Then she runs into Henry, the love of her life that she left without the truth and realizes how very different things are. It’s an emotional love filled journey to everyone finding their way to their new beginnings. A feel good, but not over the top mushy story. My favorite kind!

Book Meet me at Christmas
Author: Jenny Hale
Narrator: Emma Lover
Publisher: Dreamscape Select – Harpeth Road Press
Genre: Romance
Pub Date: October 17, 2023
My Rating: 4.5
Pages: 271

Thirty-one year old Stella Fisher lives in London and is a researcher and travel writer for Brain Borders Magazine .She decided to go into research once she realized she really didn’t want to be a Doctor. She completed Stanford undergrad as well as Medical school and was applying for her residency when she found out about the research position. The travel connected with it was appealing.
She grew up in a small town in Tennessee and married Henry the love of her life as a teen – however, perhaps because they were so young the marriage wasn’t working for Stella. Henry was heartbroken when she went off to college.

Stella is on deadline researching an article on traumatic brain injury when she receives a call to come home to her family’s farmhouse to help her mother through the first Christmas without her father. Aka ‘Pop’
Stella was able to arrange for her research assignment to be done at Vanderbilt Hospital,
That way she could spend a little longer than just Christmas with her Mother. This Christmas would be just the two of them as her sister, Lily, got married and is in Costa Rica.

Stella’s first patient to interview is Henry Dutton, who suffered a brain injury while in the Army.
Yes! Henry is the young man she was married to but he doesn’t remember.
She believes she needs to act like she doesn’t know him in order to complete her research -as knowing the patient would be a ‘conflict of interest.. As she continues her article on “Long-term Brain Health’ she flashes back fifteen years when she and Henry were a couple. (These flashbacks had me hearing the Barbra Streisand song ’The Way We Were”)

Stella soon becomes the one person Henry believes can help with his memory. However she isn’t as sure about that. She really wants to keep what happened thirteen years ago needs to be buried. (Okay -I was yelling at Stella - Tell him – Tell him!)

Story ended up satisfying my anticipation as well as my expectations – if it hadn’t I would have thrown the book across the room.

“Meet Me at Christmas” is now one of my favorite all time enjoyable Christmas stories..🎄
Narrator Emma Love was a great audiobook performer. – also has the perfect name for this story!💕
I am now looking forward to another Jenny Hale story!.

BTW: I was curious about the title and thought it was referring to Christmas Day but it is a local Christmas tree lot called “Christmas’ In addition to the trees it is also a fun gathering place that also has games, food, and in the evenings ‘live bands’. It was a special place for Stella and Henry. and doing Christmas often would say ‘meet me at Christmas’!

This was a cute holiday book. While it was predictable, it had more depth to it than many other holiday romcoms.
