This was an enjoyable story about a recently qualified nurse who starts working for a well-regarded psychiatrist, looking after his wife who suffers from mental health issues and has to take a lot of medication. But not all is as it seems and Dr. Roth becomes quite aggressive when he feels that Emily is not following his orders. But when his wife confesses to certain crimes, Emily decides that she has to take action.
I listened to the audio of this book and really enjoyed it.
I loved that this is told from multiple point of views and it had me guessing who was telling the truth. This was a good book and kept me on the edge of my seat.
I didn't love either the writing or the pace of this book. The beginning half really dragged. While the second half moved things along more quickly with some nice twists and turns, I dislike very much when authors feel the need to explain every single detail and connect every dot. The assumption that the readers can't piece things together is annoying to me. I also felt like the story should have been strictly from Emily's point of view: the introduce of random points of view felt disjointed.
Thanks to NetGalley for an advanced audio version of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I tried so hard to really get into this book but I just could not connect with the plot line or the characters, It was a quick read but overall did not leave an impact on me.

This gripping story is set in a luxurious home in Florida, where the protagonist, Emily, is hired to care for Sabrina, the mentally ill wife of Dr. Roth. The opulent surroundings and the dynamics within this home play a significant role in shaping the suspenseful and chilling atmosphere of the novel. The secluded and affluent setting adds to the tension surrounding the characters and their interactions, contributing to the overall intrigue of the story.
I enjoyed the immersive narration and the gripping ambiance of this advanced listening copy.
I really enjoyed this psychological suspense mystery featuring a young nurse who is hired to take care of someone's wife, who she is told is unwell and mentally unstable. I had a lot of fun trying to figure out who was telling the truth and who was lying. I loved the multiple POVs in the story. And I really liked the twist at the ending of the story. The narration was excellent. I want to thank the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for giving me a copy of this audiobook, in return for an honest review.
This was really good! I would have given it 5 stars if it
Weren’t for the ending. It just felt too easy and predictable I would have liked another twist in there. But overall I really enjoyed it! 4.25 stars. Thank you to netgalley for providing this audiobook in exchange for a review. All thoughts are my own.
Dragged on for way too long, the main character was too gullible and it wasn’t a believable story. I wasn’t a fan
Superb on audio, a truly great production. I enjoyed this psychological thriller, it kept my attention, I loved the MC and couldn't wait to get back 5o listening.
The ending was brilliant. Completely surprising and expertly crafted
"The beginning is not where your story starts but where your story starts to get interesting."
― Jenna Kernan
Emily has struck gold as Dr. Roth personally chooses her to work as a nurse for his mentally ill wife. As she begins her employment and enters the lives of Dr. and Mrs. Roth, Emily discovers Sabrina's erratic behavior. However, as she spends more time with them, she uncovers horrifying truths about her employers.
The Nurse is an outstanding, fast-paced thriller that stood out. The two main characters, Henry and Sabrina, are dangerous individuals who hide terrible truths yet still manage to take advantage of one another to live their desired lives. Despite causing each other immense suffering, they appear to be a perfect match. Emily's character surprised me the most, as her true intentions are revealed at the novel's end, which perfectly concludes this phenomenal read.
In my opinion, this novel has an excellent plot with many phenomenal twists and turns that keep the reader engaged. The characters are well-developed and interesting, making the book impossible to put down. I would certainly recommend this book to any mystery lovers out there. I also want to express my gratitude to NetGalley for providing me with a free and advanced copy of this book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC of this audiobook in turn for my honest review.
This was a great story and I really enjoyed listening to it.
Dr. Roth is looking for a someone to take care of his ailing wife. Emily takes the job but starts to notice the oddities of their home soon after she starts. Sabrina starts telling tales but when asking Dr. Roth, he says they are just Sabrina’s imagination. But is it just her imagination? Who is telling the truth and who is lying? The story doesn’t stop there either. Give this story a read, you will be surprised.
Again, thank you for the ARC of this title.
3.5 stars, I liked the book, and would have given it 4 stars, but the narrator ruined some of my experience.
I did love the plot twist and would recommend it for people
This is the first book I have read but this author and I listened to the audio version. Unfortunately I really struggled with this. It was so slow and boring going into far too much detail about everything. I also didn’t like the main character Emily who acted so unprofessional and jealous all the time when was paid to do a job. Sorry not for me

Narrated by Madeline Pell
The ending of the book is good. That being said, this is a very slow-moving story for most of it. Like about 70% of the story. It wasn't bad, per se, it just was a lot of the same repetitive daily life of Sabrina and Emily. I like my books a bit more fast-paced. This was honestly my biggest issue with this story. At over 12 hours of recorded time, That's a day's worth of listening where not much exciting happens.
I'm glad that I did finish this story, as the ending was good, but I wouldn't recommend this one to friends. Ms. Pell's narration was fantastic though, and brought the characters to life. I'll happily listen to more stories performed by her.
Thanks to NetGalley, Dreamscape Select, Bookouture and the author for the chance to listen to and review this ARC!
This book was amazing! I read most of it in a day. From the beginning, I knew there was something up with the whole situation and I had to know what it was, but it went so much deeper than I expected!
I’m really on the fence on rating this story either a three or four but rounded up because I enjoyed the narration of the audio version.
The story is quite long at a bit over 12 hours of audio. Made a bit longer by the slow pacing, repetitive sequences and extreme detail. Most of the action happened in the last quarter of the story and thankfully it was worth the wait.
If you want a quick twisty thriller then this may not be for you but if you like a slow burn with a banging ending then I think you will enjoy this one!

If you like Freida McFadden I believe you’ll also be a fan of this author. This is my first book of Jenna Kernan’s and I’d definitely pick up another one. The story line was great and she paints pictures of these characters to make you like hate or empathize with and for them. What I really liked is that those feelings for these characters is constantly changing throughout the story because you don’t know who to trust. I would’ve given this book a five star review on the story alone but I listened to the audio version. I had a hard time following the narrators voice and knowing when she was ending a sentence and beginning a new one. Maybe it was her cadence? After awhile I got use to it though and it didn’t bother me as much so it was easier to fully focus on the story.
Thank you for your review.
Emily is a new graduate nurse who needs a good paying job and she thinks she found it...but what seems like a dream job becomes a nightmare that Emily cannot wake up from.....
The Nurse was a fast paced listen (I received an audio copy of the book) and I really enjoyed it! I would definitely recommend this book for anyone looking for a good thriller!
Thank you to @netgalley and the publisher for providing me an E-ARC of the audio book in exchange for an honest review.
Ok so if you love psychological popcorn thrillers, you're in for a treat!
Though popcorn thrillers dont usually tend to have much of a backstory and character development, this books was exceptional in that regard! I really enjoyed getting to know about the twin's past and how it all played out
Also this is such an atmospheric read and isolated thriller trope lovers are gonna love this one!
This was my first book by the author and certainly wont be the last!
I was hesitant to read this one mainly because these kinds of stories typically either go one of two ways...the husband is nuts or the wife is nuts...but I really enjoyed the Ex Wives by this author so I decided to give it a shot. This did end up being so much more than that and there were certainly a lot of twists and turns, one I really didn't see coming, but it took a long time to get there. This seemed very long and repetitive to me, and I found myself spacing out often. I think this could have been done in way less time and would have then been much more entertaining. The final twist was good but unfortunately there is a book I read with a very similar ending and I actually called this from the very beginning. If you have not read this other book then I think you will definitely be shocked by it. The narrator did a very nice job with this and was good at changing up the characters voices. All in all this wasn't bad but not my favorite either.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Jenna Kernan for allowing me to listen to an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
