The Duke's guard...
Aiden is a Scot, who has been tasked with guarding the duke's new ward and transporting her down to him. Emma is young and comes across as very sheltered. She is now an heiress with fortune hunters after her. There's some drama, some tediousness with the journey and a mishap or two.

Thank you NetGalley. This book is part of a series which has plenty of action and romance. The family of Garahan protects the Duke of Wydndmere plus all those he feels responsible for which includes the new ward he has taken on of his friend who died. Aiden has been sent to guard her and see that she gets to his estate safely. Emily Montrose is an adult and thinks she can take care of herself. Her father was actually killed and it is a Baron who after her. She can't move with out his men being after her.
Mystery, Wagers, Romance:
This story starts off like a can of worms. One terrifying situation after another just keeps coming to the surface in this thrilling romance.
Emily's father has passed in an unusual accident or was it something else? She is now the ward of the infamous Duke of Wyndmere. Even though she is now a wealthy lady she is not free to come and go as she pleases. She needs to have protectors to deliver her to the Duke and Duchess.
This is where the hero enters the story, but he doesn't know that he is her hero yet.
Aiden is one of three protectors to make sure Emily is kept safely away from the men vying for her inheritance.
The slow building attraction is delightful and captivating with all of their humorous or angst banter. Many times, I chuckled at Emily's antics.
A large cast of characters, an investigation plus many injuries that made this an enjoyable story to read.
The epilogue brings the story into a happy and rewarding end that put a smile on my face.
Suspenseful, delightful, loved every page!! There are so many wonderful things I can say about this book, but it would not do it justice. You just need to read it to see what I mean!! The author kept me enchanted by her imagination and humorous writing with characters that where lovable and witty.
